We went here for lunch on a very very rainy day. The lady kept walking away as I wanted to order and said “in a minute”. I ordered the steak pie with chips and mushy peas with gravy and for myself the lasagne with a portion of chips and two coffees. When we had finished we cleared our own table and put the tray and dirty pots in the tray cabinet. We noticed most people just walked away and left the dirty pots on the table. The food was o k nothing special. I paid by card and got a receipt. I noticed I had been charged 75 pence for a small jug of gravy. Staff need to be more welcoming, pleasant and clean the tables quicker. The ladies toilets were bad out of 3 two were out of order, my husband said the gents was the same. The whole store looks neglected and untidy.

Finally written this as the cafe is so going downhill. Its forever closing early, always out of stock on various foods, food often cold, bad tempered staff. Went as had a hard day at work, not impressed to find it only offering sandwiches - whats the point?

I usually find Morrison cafes chips to be excellent, these were not, tasteless and slightly overfried. I bought the half chicken dinner, the lady at the cash desk went and checked in person if they had any chicken in stock. Waiting time was around 10 minutes, tables had been cleaned but not well. Finally food, chips bad, chicken good but could have been hotter and better, coleslaw was excellent. Overall average.

Two stars for convenience and reasonable prize food. Cleanliness is appalling, tables never cleaned. On our visit on 17th June, there were piles of dirty pots on tables. We had to ask a member of staff to come and clear them. We had to clean the table ourselves with hot water as she didn't return to clean it. Having ordered our food, one meal was incomplete. This was begrudgingly rectified. Another meal was not what we ordered. I have to mention the staff, rude, disinterested and clearly don't want to be there.

Disappointing. It's unfortunate to have to write negative reviews, but there's an urgent need for senior management to assess the situation at Morrisons cafe, especially with regard to their nonchalant staff. The cleanliness of the tables is persistently subpar. On my recent visit with my wife and our three-year-old son, I had to request one of the employees to tidy up our table. Her response was curt, and although she did clear the table, she didn't return to sanitize it, which left me with no choice but to do it myself. Out of the three meals we ordered, only one was served as requested, because the woman serving us seemed uninterested in listening to our preferences. Her demeanor was dismissive and impolite. The only saving grace was the good food at reasonable prices, which is why I am rating it two stars. However, the staff's performance leaves much to be desired.

We called in for an afternoon snack. The food on the desserts display looked dried up and unappealing. So we opted for a couple of jacket potatoes, a scone and three teas. The cashier couldn't have been more rude and unfriendly. She clearly had never heard of customer service. At the condiments station there were no napkins. However it became clear the staff had been highly trained in dodging requests for customer assistance. In the end we almost had to block their way to get any attention. The food arrived quickly and was banged down on the table with about as much finesse as an elephant. Avoid

We decided to visit the Morrison’s for breakfast on a visit to Manchester from Norfolk as we have had Morrison’s breakfast before we expected the same trustworthy meal. We found the menu did not have a lot of options for breakfast and opted for a full English, a bacon sandwich and a child’s beans on toast as well as drinks of two hot chocolates and a tea. We had to ask for some milk for the tea as there was none on offer and we also found there was no tea spoons. When the meal s arrived they looked well presented although the egg looked like the yolk had cracked before being served, leaving the egg hard and not looking very nice. The breakfast was ok although the mushroom was cold and very unappetising and the bacon was rather crispy. My partner said his bacon sandwich was nice and this arrived on a ciabatta bread roll. My son didn’t seem to enjoy his beans on toast he said the beans didn’t taste nice and the bloomer bread for his toast was a little too over cooked leaving it crispy tasting. Was not the usual breakfast we usually enjoy at Morrison’s

Free parking available. Good selection of food. A reasonable choice for vegan and vegetarians. Also at reasonable prices. I had the vegetarian all day breakfast. This was very good - the sausage probably one of the best I’ve had in a cafe. Also given 3 choices of how I would like my eggs. I had poached and they were also very good. My sister had the make your own ‘meat’ breakfast, which she enjoyed. However, the wait time for the food was too long. It took almost half an hour to deliver. We also had to remind the staff after 22 mins that we had not received our food order. It then took another 4 - 5 mins to deliver. The reason for the wait was that they had no separate frying equipment for the vegan sausage. That the cooking utensils needed to be cleaned as had been used to cook the meat sausage. I did get an extra 2 vegan sausages as compensation. I would have given a poor rating but as we enjoyed our food I gave an average rating. The staff were pleasant and apologetic. The table was clean. Not sure if I would visit again due to the wait time only.

Visited Morrisons many times over the years for a quick light lunch. Service can be hit and miss sometimes, but usually the food is great value for money. Try the salad bowl, at £1.00 it has to be the best salad anywhere at the price. Often we will have a salad bowl each and a portion of chips to share. Great light lunch, plus two mugs of coffee. The best coffee anywhere. Beats costa, café nero and at half the price.

We have had some lovely meals at Morrisons cafes in other parts of the country, especially Scarborough. However, our experience in Buxton was not very good. The coffee was lukewarm (although we were offered another one, which was also lukewarm and subsequently heated up in their microwave). I was told that the machine is a bit temperamental - so it should be taken out of action and sorted!! The cutlery was dirty - and another customer said this was quite normal. We ate with the plastic cutlery on offer - not very good, but a laugh when trying to cut gammon. I opted for the steak and ale pie, which I thought might be part of a tray bake - but it was an individual pie and only ok.

both myself and husband are regulars at the buxton morrisons cafe eating there after work up to 3 times a week, the staff have always been very friendly and helpful even when they are under pressure, they always have a smile and if theres time they will have a little chat asking about your day which for some is an important part of their day and maybe the only friendly face they have seen for some time, I feel the cafe would be improved if it was to recruit more staff as at times there is quite a long wait for food due to low staffing levels, free refills of tea or coffee would be an improvement to as sometimes while waiting for food to arrive our drinks are gone and it makes it quite an expensive meal when we need to refill our tea/coffee cup . but on the whole a lovely friendly place to eat

Two of us had a light lunch earlier today. The food was slightly delayed in coming and the waitress was very pleasant and cheerful. However, the waitresses did not clear dirtycrockery etc. from tables on their return journey which, even though the restaurant was only moderately busy, resulted in many empty tables being littered with used items thusdeterring fresh customers from sitting down. Firstly I could not find any frozen free from wheat and gluten range food and the free from range was poor its not a good store to visit if you are a celiac they just don't have enough food in store for you its poor and I wouldn't visit again.Secondly I also visited the cafe which was not a good experience the tables where not cleaned there was food on the tables and chairs the floors where a mess with food and bits of packaging the staff where not professional in dealing with customers. The food was poor and over cooked the whole experience was poor if I was a health inspector I don't even think a star rating for food hygiene would be given. Unpretentious, light and airy cafe within Morrisons Buxton store. Busy-ish even at 11:00am. Pleasant and polite young woman on the till - great sense of humour. My colleague and I went for their 'Famous' fish and Chips which arrived promptly. Good sized portions and flaky white fish, cooked to perfection and piping hot. Only gripe: the cutlery wasn't very clean - probably due to overloading the dishwasher? Altogether a pleasant experience.

We visited Buxton Morrison's café recently on impulse after sourcing some groceries in the local store. Despite previous reviews we were pleased to find a warm and cheery welcome from the kitchen staff who showed us to our table promptly and a menu was produced despite not booking in advance. We were then invited to queue up and order at the bar. I chose some breaded fingers of fish with a side of beans and buttered bread and my partner Sarah had some vegetarian fry ups. There were no vegan options which was acceptable as neither myself or my life partner are vegans. I cannot recommend enough. Keep it up Morrison's. We do not go out very often but we are already planning our next trip. Bon chance mon ami.

My wife and I were on a business trip in the Buxton area, We required something to eat at a place where parking is easy for disabled drivers. Choice of menu was suitable for both of tastes. We have used Morrison's café's in many locations throughout the UK. Never had a badly cooked meal or snack in any of them. Our visit to Buxton branch was speck of moment and I had NOT looked up any previous comments or feedback on trip advisor. Parking at Buxton was NOT excellent for disabled blue badge owners. Many vehicles (included works vans) NON of these displaying blue badges were parked in the disabled bays. We entered the café and it appeared quiet and few people seated eating food. Several only had drinks in front of them. The access to the café was obstructed by a large charity stall pestering anyone who tried to visit to café into giving money. The tables that no-one was sitting at did have dirty spent plates, cups and waste. The floor appear in need of a deep clean. (Trust me I have visited engineering company canteens and they were cleaner). My wife and I chose items from the nationally offered menu. "fish and chips with mushy peas + steak and ale pie, chips and mushy peas. The young lady on the pay area was polite, pleasant and helpful. However she did seem empowered with covering to many individual tasks due to staff shortage 12noon (main time when most people would wish to have cooked meals). The young lady seemed to be responsible for taking food orders, taking payments at the till, clearing tables, serving cooked food and keeping the cutlery / condiments stocked up. ALL OF THIS and she still showed full respect and professionalism towards every customer whom passed through her counter services. I commend her!Our two cooked meals arrived at our table in a reasonable time after ordering. The food was hot, well presented, pleasantly tasty and plentiful for the £4.99 each. During our meal, I noted that suddenly three other staff came strolling into the seating area (seeming like they couldn't give a hoot about joining the young lady to service and care for customers) It was plainly obvious that ONLY this one young lady seemed to do the job correctly and as her employers "Wm Morrison" would expect of her. We stayed for around an hour and what I witnessed was NOT the top quality of customer care I am familiar with at any other branch of Morrison's cafe's. It does ONLY take one, two or more members of staff to NOT work as team players and that puts a lot of stress, strain and overload on the staff who enjoy their work and wish to represent their employers. I strongly advise that the general Manager at Buxton Derbyshire, take a few hours to sort out the staff who DO NOT do their jobs correctly. Unemployment is enough to find staff who will carry out duty of care, respect to customers. NOW I have read other people comments / reviews and taken the opportunity to realistically comment on my own findings. Which in most cases would support previous reviews. I hope this particular branch does soon get back to achieve the same high standards of all the other 14+ branches I use throughout the UK. The toilets were clean in both male and Female (my wife checked the female toilets lol). The air-con / atmosphere was reasonable within the café / store. Lighting was good. Café serving counter was clean, tidy and presentable. (I feel this dedicated young lady had made sure during her period of duty it was as she would wish it to appear) I noticed when the other staff arrived the counter soon became untidy, spillages NOT wiped up etc. Used trays NOT wiped or tables cleaned. The young lady had done all of this within her very overloaded attempts to cover the lesser willing staff members.I hope this assists others to use Morrison's Café Buxton and indeed complain if staff don't give the service you would expect.

We were told bluntly that hot food orders were taking 45 minutes! I must have looked astonished because the waitress then said don't blame me we're doing our best if you want pies you can get them from the bakery.I would describe her attitude as rude and unhelpful but its one way to cut down on your workload if no-one is prepared to wait 45 minutes for food. Blonde woman who works here needs to learn how to talk to people nicely. Went for ice creams for the kids at 14:40 and on entering she snaps to not close the door behind us. I was only being polite and didn't know it was warm inside. Went to order some ice creams, cakes and a toastie but she said in an eye rolling manner 'we're not serving hot food' I said 'what foods are you serving?' Thinking it was something to do with the heat; maybe they were only serving cold foods/sandwiches? She said 'only cakes and coffees as we're closing soon'. I just left with out buying anything as I didn't want to be a burden to her 16:00 closing time. If the woman was polite and explained things in a less snappy manner I would have settled for a few cakes and ice creams (without the meal). I would recommend self reflection and possibly communication training skills (unless it is due to a severe learning disability).

We loved our lunch here, and the service was excellent! It was a big contrast with another place we tried earlier, where they halted service for 10 minutes in order to "catch up" - how ridiculous! We were made to feel welcome at Stars, despite it being busy, and couldn't fault our delicious food, at a good price too 😋. They're missing a trick by not having Buxton pudding on the menu though - surely we're not the only people who like to sample local specialities when visiting a place for the first time?

Family and friends Sunday lunch. Roasts were awful; very very dry beef (only meat option); frozen shop bought dry soggy roasties; lacking flavour watery gravy and not a lot of it; soggy deflated Yorkshire pudding. My mouth was so dry after chewing so hard on the beef. Best thing were the boiled carrot batons. Lasagne seemed shop bought/ processed sauces etc, and the 2 slices of frozen garlic bread dry and lacking flavour. The sting was that the lasagne was around £18, and the roast £16 - the portions were very small too. Could get better at Morrisons cafe sorry to say! Service was friendly, and the free pool and darts made up for the very disappointing meal. We’ve been going to The George for at least 10 years and it was very good 10 years ago; good value for large tasty meals (especially the blue cheese burger on a floury bap with curly fries and salad for under a tenner - i know prices have gone up for various reasons so it’s not the price that’s an issue if the food is decent and a good portion, but I felt well and truly ripped off). Please improve as we want to visit more as we’re local and love Hayfield and don’t want to see another pub close (sad to see The Royal go - Sportman down the road and Packhorse are great! As is Old Hall Inn in Chinley) due to lack happy returning customers. Good luck!
