Morrisons Cafe in Redcar and Cleveland

One of the better Morrison cafés. Started bad, the cashier walked off just before I got to the head of the queue. There was a five minute wait for a replacement cashier. I ordered my favourite, half chicken with chips salad and colsew. They had it in stock. 15 minutes wait was reasonable because place was half full, noon on a Thursday. The table had been cleared but food stains remained. The food itself was excellent value for money even at the increased price of £8. Chips were better than previous Morrisons, chicken was hit enough, salad was plentiful with several tomatoes.

Had Sunday lunch which was bungled higgidley piccledy on a plate. The food was just warm and would of benefited from being served hot. Even so I was disappointed by the appearane which wao off putting and I would not purchase again.

Dont recomnend this cafe at all, food terrible, staff all look miserable and a couple of them very rude. Everywhere looks gruby and dirty, no one clearing away tables. Wouldnt be paid to go bck.

Food minging, cafe dirty, staff rude and slow. Breakfast looked like it had been thrown on the plate, plate swimming in black mushroom juice, shell in egg, several items missing but that awful dont want them, daughters chips hard and under cooked, honest unbelievably disgusting. Half the tables full of left dirty plates, staff dont seem with it asked the man who brought food for some sauce which he actually tutted and said so I have to come all the back to bring you some sauce lol. I pop in once a week for Fish and Chips. The fish is always spot on and cooked to order. Unfortunately never had hot chips or warm peas in the Redcar shop. Such a shame.

Just popped in for tea and a slice of cake 1 cup left which was tea and coffee stained. The lady went for more then decided to stand and chat to other customers while I waited for my cups.

Utter garbage- given them the benefit of doubt and tried a few more times but after food today, I’m done. Full breakfast, everything cold, bacon wafer thin cold and hard, beans looked like scooped off floor, black pudding burnt to crisp, sausages rock hard. Coffees, I don’t think should be classed as coffee more like warm dishwater. Staff, couldn’t get an order right if they tried. Utter crap stay clear.

One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, 1 hour wait for 2 breakfasts, had to sit at a dirty table as none were clean, staff were very slow and disinterested, went to ask about food after half an hour was told 5 mins, had to go back up after a further half an hour, will never return, one of the dirtiest and unorganised set ups I've seen, really disappointed, need to employ more staff on staff than actually want to be there, terrible.

Good value - but don't expect fine dining or piping hot food. We had the £8.99 offer which included any main course, dessert and a drink. Quick service and a friendly atmosphere but the chicken dinner should have been given a longer blast in the microwave. The "school-meal" dessert, while pleasingly stodgy and sweet, was served with the first course.

the food was really good 3 of us 2 of us had all day breakfast n 1 had jacket potato with cheese salad which all was quickly served n the food was OK many thanks we were just on a visit on our way to Saltburn by Sea for a overnight stay

The food was good and relatively prompt, but sadly these are the workong points; Staff seemed behind the curve on most things. Issues during my visit were: 1) Ran out of cutlery - Staff did eventually notice, but I'm sure this was after they were approached about the issue. 2) No napkins - Desoite there being 4 dispensers, ALL of them were empty amd the staff had to be approached. 3) The brand of fruit juices advertised not available in fridge - I did see then restocking whilst we were eating, but the frisge was pretty bare when we were looking for the items we ordered. 4) Staff looking busy, but not really on top of it - This is only what it looked like as i observed for about 40 minutes. That's the negatives done, but actually the food was of good quality and the kids meal was free. Maybe the cafe needs another member of staff, or they need use a little initiative and be a little more proactive.

£6.49 for a clearly frozen and microwaved lasagne. Could of bought better in the frozen aisle. Picture looked nice what actually came is shown in the picture. I have always rated Morrisons cafe but this has made me question. I will say the staff are really lovely and efficient.

I used the automated service as I thought it would be quicker- wrong! I would have been better off getting the ingredients from the supermarket, taking them home and making my own lunch. We waited almost 50 minutes for our food which was nothing fantastic and the jacket potato at best was warm. I won’t be coming here again in a hurry

You have to tell the cashier when ordering the table number you are going to eat at, work that one out ! Food under the table with used paper napkins. They had NO spoons or forks, coffee machine broke, no condiments in the trays, only a dirty bowl of sugar there, they told me they had run out. Always nice to drop in for coffee and a cake whilst shopping at Morrison’s. The cafe is always clean and tidy, and you’re always greeted with a smile!

first visit since start of Covid. Nice breakfast with for some reason loads of blackpudding, only slight criticism was quality of sausage, why do cafes always use the lowest quality sausage. staff good if a little harassed.

I've been here twice now on a Sunday morning and both times I ordered the avocado and poached egg on toast with mushrooms. Both times it was freezing cold when it came out, as if the food had been cooked and then left somewhere for ages. It's a shame as the eggs/bread is nice quality but it's not a meal that tastes great stone cold!I'd thought it was a one off, but twice confirms that it's a problem, which is a shame as the food itself could be lovely. It's in a convenient place and I'd probably pop in for a drink while I'm waiting for the train, but I doubt I'd order food again- and if I did, I'd avoid the poached eggs.

I went in here with my son and there were a number of issues.

Desperately hungry, and looking for something other than pie or fish. Spotted Lamb shank on the menu. With mash and peas and mint sauce, absolutely delicious. Worth having again.

We enjoy eating at various Morrison cafes with our grandchildren because as they say "Kids eat free" but the drawback we are finding is that if you do not order exactly what is on the screen menu, then be prepared for a long wait while they have to type in exactly what you want, for example, my wife wants fish and chips but without chips and peas, in otherwords just a fish, but to get the free kids meal we have to buy the full meal, thats not a problem to us, but whichever store we go into, it seems to be a problem for not only the fancy till, but the operator as well, surely Morrisons IT department could sort out the till menu and make it easier to use.

Absolutely brilliant. The children were free and the food we had was very tasty. Breakfasts all round. Everything was really tasty. Have been going to Toby for years. They are not a patch on Morrisons. Really good price too

Unbeatable value but quality could be a lot better. As other people have said if you manage to get a fork into the fried bread it so hard it shatters into pieces. The two hash browns also rock hard. The bacon , sausage and fried egg all ok.

We ordered 2 x breakfasts at 10.33 eventually paying at 10.47 due to the queue moving so slowly only about 12 people in front of us.Our breakfasts were eventually served at 11.20 after I'd complained and we'd drunk our tea/coffee.The food was cheap and over cooked absolutely disgusting I've no idea why i thought it would be anything else but we certainly won't return!

Absolute terrible service in the cafe been waiting now for over 15 minutes in cue. What I suggest is you get more staff in cafe. Will not be coming again

Have tea in cafe most Fridays and usually critical, but last Friday had the lamb shank and it was spot on. Two lamb shanks and drinks for £10, unbeatable

Yesterday we were out watching a junior football match. So we decided to have a breakfast at this cafe. Oh dear, I love fried bread but this was so hard that I couldn't get my fork into it to cut it. The bacon I left as it was so dry and hard that I knew that I would have to chew it into submission before any flavour escaped. The fried eggs were good, let's face it, they were the easiest part of the breakfast. Never again.

Just eaten fish and chips and sausages, egg and chips. All with free kids meals. A 5 item lunch box. Free drinks too. Fish and chips were beautiful, sausages, egg and chips were great. £9.40 for a family. Unbelievable value and fantastic staff.

Recently renovated the cafe looks much better ,friendly staff staple cafe food menu,like the new drinks station. When we visited lunchtime it was very busy with a varied customer age group.

Any Morrisons cafe has good food at reasonable prices, the services is good and quick and staff very friendly. Nice to see the chairs and tables have been updated.. but please bring back the macaroni burger..

Went for lunch on Sunday , husband ordered flying start breakfast with extra black pudding , I ordered chicken burger with jacket potato , taking ages to come so done what we've done before and asked a waitress could you see where our order is ? And as before like magic out our meal comes !!!! Black pudding was freezing obviously been defrosted in microwave then just sent out !!! Gave it to waitress who said don't know what's happened ? I get you another , when it came husband had finished meal !! But it was cooked . You can put as many nice table and chairs , teapot ornaments etc in there to update the place but it won't improve the staff who need refresher courses in service and attitude ,one was complaining to a customer how now they are told to keep tables clear at all times but how are they supposed to when there is no trays to carry things ????? USE YOUR HANDS ...LAZY .

Loved this cafe before but now its been refurbished its 100 times nicer . The new design and the new furniture is all very tasteful and well layed out , still good food quality and friendly staff

It is average. The food is average. It is often overfull. The prices are good. The service is average. The food is sometimes cold. Not over keen at all.

I know it was 4.30pm but considering what time the store closes the café did not seem to carry a good selection of food choices .Had to use coffee cups for teacups no sachets of milk out lack of milk and cups happens quite often I consider the price of their sandwiches to be expensive with not a good selection .On a few occasions i noticed a shortage of staff Somehow after today and past visits i don't think i will be returning to Morrisons .

I've been to both the Redcar store and the Stockton one and both are on the same poor level of standards. Food cheapish but pretty awful. I avoid if I can and then only have a watery tea. Service is pleasant though

Chicken nuggets for the kids. Chunky steak pie for me. Drinks as well. Decent food. Super price. Quick and easy. Pleasant service. You really can't complain.

It's good for hot drinks and snacks etc. Not had a hot meal in there for a while now. The queues at the till can build up easily at certain times of the day and the trays can be left on tables with dirty plates and cutlery when there isn't enough staff on the serving floor!

If you're in Morrisons and hungry, eat here. There is a good selection of food but the process required to get it is confusing. The food is adequate and cheap.

Fish and chips were very greasy,a lot of fat in the batter,the chips could of been in the fryer a bit longer,that's just personal choice

We visited the cafe 11Oct had lunch there it was a nice lunch the only thing that let this cafe down was the cutlery it was disgusting it had old dried food on took it back to the dispenser had to look through to find clean ones. If we do go back I will check the cutlery first before ordering food.

The restaurant is ideal for coffee and food,, sandwiches available in chilled area and range of coffees and teas, and cokked food to order at excellent price. if you are doing your shopping at Morrisons perfect location for parking etc as you claim this back

For 5 of us including 3 kids, we got 5 full meals and drinks after 3 pm for £11! I may cancel my supermarket visit and just eat here! The food was nice too!

Okay so it's a supermarket cafe that sells cheap food... You do get what you pay for. The food isn't anything to write home about but for the price and convenience the food is okay. Always plenty of seating available and a pretty good selection of foods to choose from.

Not expecting any thing special at a supermarket cafe ,They surpass my expectations -- with not well presented bland food swimming in gravy which spilled as meal was dumped on the table along with a mumbled enjoy your meal. Every time I've eaten here I've been disappointed with the food. It's alright if you are just wanting a sandwich or a cake. But anything cooked is swimming in grease and usually hard as if it's been left under heat lamps.

I've eaten here many times from just a cup of coffee and cake, a lunchtime sandwich or a cooked breakfast. The food has always been tasty, nicely presented and very good value for the price paid.I noticed in another review it was suggested that the staff could be more smiley and I am inclined to agree with this....however they have always been polite if not especially friendly.They did always used to have condiments on the table which I rather liked as there was a choice of white or black pepper and I do like a LOT of black pepper on my food it possible. Now however they are using the little packets.Any way my overall experience has always been a positive one.

Popped in one morning....did not want to as I prefer eating at home due to allergies that both my little girl and I suffer from. I knew that I could ask in re to ingredients in their food because of The Food Standards Agency (FSA) in conjunction with DEFRA have  introduced a new food allergen law which came into force on 13th December 2014 they are called the Food Information Regulations. ( This means I can see what they actually use in all of their ingredients of the food they serve) So I asked members of staff to show me what they had in their food ...expecting them to comply and see the menu with ingredients I was however told we dont know anything about that.....dear me.....and both of them refused to empathise and carried on talking to other customers and ignoring myself and my children with their ignorance. Then one said...we cannot show you what we dont have ( but by law they would have it) they just simply did not want to help or were to afraid to deal with a customer who asked a question that was out of the "norm" ..... it felt like my children and I were looked down on because we did not simply go in...order and leave. Unfortunately thats life and the staff here need to start thinking outside the box when it comes to a persons preference and their individual needs. If that cannot be done then dont do the job. Give the job to someone who is aware of laws.... peoples rights and who shows excellent customer service. This will make a huge positive difference. I shall be returning and if I am dealt with the same ignorant blow I will name and shame staff on trip advisor as I have every right to ask about food allergies for my child and myself and I do not take our safety likely.

Typical supermarket cafe, fine for a quick cuppa whilst shopping, the cakes are expensive.The chairs in the cafe could certainly do with replacing, or at the very least a good scrub to clean the seats, but the tables, serving area, etc was all clean.

I asked the staff if they sold any gluten free food as I suffer with Coeliac disease.The menu seemed to have various things which I would consider to be suitable but I needed to be sure.The two ladies that I spoke with in the Café informed me that they do not sell gluten free food and apparently are not even allowed to sell anything to Coeliacs ! I find this very hard to believe but I do think that the staff need some serious training.

This typical supermarket café is fairly basic with plastic chairs & tables but we enjoyed our food & the prices are very good. There is a convenient car park, well placed for browsing Redcar's shops afterwards.

This cafe is great before or after your shop, great choice, fair prices and food always piping hot. It's a no brainer really after shopping and saves you cooking when you get home, A*

good food always tastes nice good prices seating a bit cramped but it has a small section for disabled which i appreciated this does get busy though and shuts early i thought it would stay open later because of being attached to a shop

Whenever we visit Redcar we always eat here.Food is good, and cheap.Staff are friendly, and the place is always clean.

Tend to visit before doing weekly shop(usually not in the best of moods). Although we usually arrive just after the menu has changed to the tea- time menu,more often than not a lot of the items shown are not available ie. the've run out. As other people have mentioned the chips are terrible and the coffee not much better. Although the staff try to their best ,not much initiative seems to be in evidence,probably a product of working for a supermarket chain.

Always a good bet when shopping. Food good and offers good value for money. Service good and cheery. Obviously parking at the shop is easy and its also good to walk over the road into Redcar.

We often visit here. It is convenient and the ample food is reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly and the service is good.I have complained on a number of occasions about the air conditioning which makes coffee cold before you finish the meal and I often keep my outside layers on.The fish courses are exceptional and very well cooked.

Meal was quite good and was welcome on a busy shopping day. The queues to get the food were a little off putting though and the seating is a little basic. Plastic chairs are joined together and to the table. The staff are very helpful and polite though.

The food here has gone down in standard over the past months and isn't a cheap place to eat in Redcar.The chips we had were hard and the food itself was not very warm.It seems as if noone cares and just sends it out.

My friend & I usually go for early lunch. The staff are friendly & the food is ok. You do need to check the cups as they can sometimes smell odd, like they have been dried with a stale tea towel! That said the food is reasonably priced & they do warn you if there is a time delay on food delivery. The tables are cleared quickly so even when there is a queue you can find a table.

With a lovely view of the car park, the main claim to fame is the worst chips (fries to our American cousins) on the planet. Apparently, they are cooked for "Four Minutes", as per "the regulations". It's NOT enough, guys!The toasties are nice, but unfortunately, they come with chips.And occasionally salad, but don't count on it - and the lettuce may well have been under the heat lamp to keep warm. You couldn't make this up.I'm in there every week.
