Moreno's in Leeds

Group of 17 ladies, all eating different things, different dietary needs. Staff were amazing, don't know how they managed! The food was beautiful, how often do you get so many and not one complaint. Thank you, we are coming again!

Nice pizzas. Unfortunately it went under. The food was good although the lighting was a bit on the clinical side. On the plus side it’s reopened as an Italian and the pizza oven is still there.

We live nowhere near this excellent Moroccan restaurant but visit when we can for the best North African hospitality around (tapas etc also available). Despite an absence of several years, Hassan remembered us and welcomed us warmly as always. The tagines are spot-on and they also have a good selection of Moroccan wines. Looking forward to next time...

What can I say. From the welcome smile as we arrived from a wonderful host, right through to a handshake (covid friendly) as we left. Food amazing. Value for money amazing. Host amazing. We will be back. Ps try the chicken and apricot tagine. OUT OF THIS WORLD

This was our second visit. The food is pretty good but the Staff weren’t happy this time that we ordered so many different tapas dishes. There were 5 of us in total and wanted to try different dishes and thought that was the point with tapas?! On this basis we won’t be returning.

Absolutely hands down the best Tagine you’ll have in Leeds and possibly the North! Run by a lovely family and they make sure it’s as authentic as it can get. It’s got a great selection of Mediterranean items too if Tagine isn’t your thing but you must try it if you haven’t had one before as it’s an amazing trip to Morocco via the food!

That is a so nice a cosy place. You feel so welcome in an environments that looks like a small restourant in Greece. The staff is so polite and nice and the manager is such a kind person. The food is really good, properly cooked. Fried calamari, patata bravas as well. Good portion for price. Some main course are just bit overpriced but the taste is fantastic. The chef knows what he is doing. Really raccomended.

We chose Morenos at random while staying nearby. Unpretentious but friendly, it provided just the right atmosphere for a quiet meal after a long and difficult drive - and the food was mouth-watering. I had Moroccan spiced chicken wings followed by lamb morenos: chunks of lamb cooked in spices with new potatoes. Both delicious. My wife had prawns followed by seafood paella, which were equally good. The house wine was, well, house wine, but pleasant. Thoroughly recommended and we hope to be back next time we are in the area ,

Arrived at 5.30 ordered a starter to share and a main course each. 30 minutes later the starter Arrived with one main course. Sent the main back so we could eat the starter garlic bread pizza. Couldn't eat it it was hard and struggled to cut it never mind chew it. Sent it back a other one came and it was just the same. After almost half an hour later we hadn't received the main. It was now 6.45 we were very Disappointed so told them we were leaving and offered to pay for our drinks (the diet coke we had ordered was real coke so we had Sent that back) Considering our experience we were amazed the took the money for our drinks. There was only one person front of house trying to do everything. Considering it was full and everyone had booked there should have been more staff As we were leaving we were informed our main courses had been given to another table We wouldn't return

We loved are visit to morenos for Father’s Day, as the food was amazing!! The service is brilliant so friendly and warm welcoming.. Please try the paella as it’s out of this world!!!!

So glad we booked here for food. Top service, delicious food & the staff really looked after us. Our 2 children aged 10 & 3 absolutely loved it, saying it was the best meat balls they've ever had. Will definitely reccomended & return when next in Leeds. Thank you

First time here last night and will definitely be going back. We were treated like friends, service was fab, food was amazing, steak Diane was one of the best I’ve had. Ended up drinking with people we didn’t even know and had one of the best nights out in a long time. Will be trying their pizza next as their pizza chef is one of the best, apparently. Excellent food and not expensive either. Very friendly and welcoming. Loved it. Thanks for the blankets, kept us nice and cosy sitting outside.

Outstanding service from the owner and staff, and really beautiful food. Our party of six had various dishes between us, a children's portion of spaghetti, multiple tapas dishes and pizzas. All delicious, freshly cooked and presented well. The outdoor terrace has ample seating (as well as seating indoors) and the restaurant is ideally located for a meal after a day at Temple Newsham, as well as being really family friendly. Highly recommended and we will definitely return.

We visit this restaurant frequently and having tried a few different items off the menu we have always had an outstanding meal. The food is absolutely incredible and the couple of own the restaurant lovely and incredibly helpful. We will continue to visit here and a few meals for your to try, meatballs tagine, lasagne, lamb, tapas all of which can be highly recommended

Decidimos aprovechar el plan y probar un nuevo lugar que a menudo hemos pasado y nos hemos imaginado, especialmente emocionados, ya que es la primera vez que cenamos fuera en casi seis meses. Tengo los champiñones al ajillo y lasaña, ambos acertaron. Otros en el grupo tenían comidas igualmente hermosas y deliciosas. Todo el personal conversó y nos hizo sentir muy bienvenidos. Este restaurante ciertamente tiene un ambiente cálido y acogedor. Definitivamente un lugar en mi lista de regreso. En términos de seguridad, está claro que están haciendo un esfuerzo adicional para que los clientes se sientan seguros. Controles de temperatura en la puerta, mesas bien dispuestas para distanciamiento social y desinfectante disponible gratuitamente. Rara vez escribo reseñas, pero ahora más que nunca creo que es importante apoyar a las empresas locales. He estado aquí algunas veces con mi esposa, pero esta noche cené sola porque ella está fuera y solo hay un límite para cocinar para uno que quiero hacer. La comida fue tan buena como siempre y el dueño (lamento no saber su nombre) fue amable, servicial y una delicia. Realmente hizo mi noche. Fantástica comida familiar para mi nuera 40 th. El propietario y su esposa hicieron un trabajo fantástico al satisfacer a un número tan grande. La selección de comida fue excelente y las bebidas excelentes. No se pierda este restaurante si está en la zona, no se decepcionará.

Tuve una fiesta de cumpleaños número 40 en Moreno's este fin de semana para unas 20 personas. La comida era increíble y Hassan y su familia fueron maravillosos y nos hicieron sentir bienvenidos. Se ocuparon de todos, incluidos los pedidos sin gluten y especiales no fueron un problema. La comida estaba increible. ¡Definitivamente regresaré de nuevo cuando esté en Leeds!

Visité Morenos por primera vez. . . . . Qué encantador restaurante. Las cuatro comidas fueron excelentes. La mejor comida que hemos probado. Just had a wonderful meal and overall experience at morenos, food never fails love the tangine my favourite the fish was again class, Hassan is a lovely fella n if you want to chill eating proper authentic Moroccan cuisine then look no further, class act.👍👍

I visited Moreno’s again this time for New Year’s Eve with a large family party there were 14 of us in total. The meals were all outstanding as usual good quality freshly cooked food. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed and the staff were friendly and very obliging my sisters children are fussy eaters so they made them different food to the advertised set menu which they didn’t have to. We had an amazing night. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and will definitely be returning.

We visited Moreno's resaurant on saturday evening to celebrate my husbands 80th birthday. A family party of 5, we were seated in a window seat close to a radiator in a very chilly & almost empty restaurant. With a very limited choice of steaks as it turned out, according to the waitress which was due to an extremely busy xmas & new year period. We all ordered starters & mains, & waited a reasonable amout of time for the starters to arrive. Our party all ordered pasta & meatballs, apart from my husband who ordered a steak. Simple order for a less than busy restaurant kitchen you would think!! However the steak arrives, & 3 meatball mains arrive. But we are waiting now for 1 more meatball main, & a portion of chips. How long are we waiiting, we are waiting 20 minutes, & my son in law has no food at all. But insists we all please eat our food, which wasnt very hot when it was put in front of us anyway. So now we have all finished our mains when the portion of chips arrive, closely followed by the missing meatballs. Well as you can imagine none of us enjoyed our mains, with a member of our party still waiting for his food. This fact appears to be totally beyond the reataurant staff apart from the waitress. However they do agree to compensate us, & offer us a free drink each which only 3 of us accepted. But we do get our bottle of wine, & my son in laws meatballs for free. But unfortunately we would have much prefered a enjoyable meal all together, the evening was spoit & this was our first & will be our last visit to this less than impresive resaurant. Also if you want to eat restaurant quality steak, please dont go to Moreno's. The whole experience was less than impressive, & there are much better places to eat in Halton & Whitkirk.

Well what can I say about Moreno's, went Saturday night as not been for a couple of weeks due to Christmas period, Absolutely Amazing food, service fantastic, they always give 100% in everything. Cheers guys, we will be returning very soon xxx

I have the same meal every time I visit! That’s the lamb in the main courses. When I say melt in the mouth, I mean “melt in your mouth” delicious food every time. My other half gets a mixture of tapas dishes which are equally as tasty. See you next time!!!!!

Visited Morelos on Saturday for a birthday Tapas. Just round the corner from my son so perfect location. Lots of choice to suit everyone - paella was lovely. Beer choice good. Little Gem!

Nos alojamos en Leeds y encontramos este restaurante cerca de nuestro alojamiento. Sirve comida marroquí y tapas. Optamos por el excelente menú de la tarde que es 13. 95 para dos cursos. Tuve una hermosa ensalada griega para comenzar, seguida de fabulosas albóndigas de cordero cocinadas con papas en rodajas. Otros aspectos destacados incluyen paté de pato y un hummus divino. Estuvimos allí muy temprano, así que teníamos el lugar para nosotros. El servicio fue excelente, muy relajado y amable, pero también eficiente. La factura para 3 de nosotros que incluía bebidas y un plato para compartir pan con hummus era menos de 60. Si viviéramos en Leeds estaríamos allí todo el tiempo. Una verdadera joya!

We have eaten at this lovely family run restaurant on a number of occasions and never been disappointed. Service is excellent, food amazing and customer service second to none. It's a 10 out of 10 from me.

Un fin de semana largo en Leeds y decidimos cruzar la ciudad para comer aquí. Al hacer la reserva, el propietario recordó que al peron que llamó le gustó un plato en particular y le preguntó si le gustaría esa noche, un sí definitivo. Probé el tagine de pollo y albaricoque y desearía vivir más cerca para comer allí más a menudo. Con especias a la perfección, desearía poder ir allí todas las semanas para repetir la experiencia. El vino marroquí también fue muy bueno. Las raciones eran muy generosas y todos estábamos encantados con nuestras diferentes opciones.

Mi familia fue allí por mi cumpleaños y realmente disfrutamos la comida y la noche. El personal era encantador y muy atento a nuestras necesidades. La comida era deliciosa, pero prepárate para esperar un poco si pides un tagine, aunque definitivamente vale la pena esperar. ¡Delicioso! Estaba buscando un lugar para celebrar nuestra cena de aniversario y este "apareció", nunca lo había oído antes, o lo noté. Reservamos una mesa, aunque no debimos habernos molestado, ya que éramos las únicas personas en el restaurante desde las 6 pm hasta después de las 8 cuando nos fuimos.

Pasamos por este restaurante unas cuantas veces de camino al templo de Newsam que llamamos esta noche y tuvimos el hígado de pollo más increíble para mi esposo y yo tuvimos el paté de pato. Por lo general, opté por un chuletón que se derretía en mi boca y mi esposo tenía unas ciruelas pasas y un tagine de almendras. Lo que puedo decir es que el servicio y el personal hicieron lo posible para que nuestra visita sea agradable y divertida. Definitivamente vamos a estar de vuelta. Gracias xxxx

Don't live far from Moreno's and watched the place flourish over the years having only been in there once before, which was incidentally a great night out. This time we went for my Son's 19th Birthday, we booked in advance though the place was empty when we got there. The waiter was a lovely & helpful guy. The ambiance was a bit quiet, whilst the piped music a bit too loud. Of a party of 5 everyone enjoyed the food. My Daughter had salmon which looked and apparently tasted delicious. My Son's girlfriend had a vegetarian dish which she loved, but as a traditionalist I had to have the medium rare sirloin steak of which I found a little questionable. Have to say we've cooked better steaks at home but the steaming hot garlic mushrooms made up for that. My final opinion would be, definitely try Moreno's, there's plenty on the menu even if you want to be a little adventurous, but don't expect a great steak. Will definitely go back, but will focus on trying the more traditional Moroccan dishes.

After passing Moreno’s on several occasions thinking, it looks a little out of place where it is but quaint, I decided to pull up take a peek in the window and look at the outside menu by the door. I was quite impressed so I decided to call up and book for myself and the wife on valentines night.

Couldn’t be more satisfied with the warm welcome and friendly reception from all the staff at this cosy restaurant. From the delicately seasoned Moroccan soup, flavourful vegetable Tagine, and the authenticity of surroundings...not to mention the wide selection of liquor and warm sweet teas they have on offer. It was like being right back in Morocco. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a restaurant that’s relaxing, cosy and child friendly.

We read lots of lovely reviews so decided to go for a family members birthday, the starters of prawns were good and I had high hopes for the rest of the meal. Other family members ordered chicken or tagine's and I ordered fillet steak cooked medium (maybe this was my mistake ordering steak at a Moroccan restaurant). It came as medallions, which I did not order but didn't mind too much and started eating, the steak was very overcooked, very chewy and had lots of fatty veins in it, I told the waiter and he took it back in the kitchen to get me a new one.

We frequent Moreno's regularly so we know the family and their menu well. Recently we booked the entire restaurant for my husbands birthday ( won't say which one). Hassan and his family went to great lengths to organise the entire restaurant by moving furniture so we could accommodate the DJ and a dance area, the tables were nicely set out for those who wished to sit down, the entire restaurant looked lovey. We arranged with Kader the chef for a tapas buffet which was absolutely marvellous plenty of really tasty food. We had a fantastic evening and the feed back from our family and friends was the same everyone had a great time. Thanks you to everyone at Moreno's for helping to make the occasion a very memorable one.

We have been to Moreno's 3 times since May 2017. The food was cooked perfect, every time. The last time we dined there, there were a group of 11, including children. Everybody commented on how lovely the food was and how welcoming the staff were. There were no questions asked if the children wanted something. Hassan was very accommodating. It's one of those restaurants that you just feel happy to visit and feel so relaxed. The menu is a fantastic mix of meals to suit all tastes. The Fish Tagine is superb but you won't go wrong what ever you choose. Wash it down with a bottle of Merlot (or 2) and you've had the perfect night. See you again soon.

We have been to this restaurant a few times now and have never had a bad meal here. The food is made fresh and is really delicious. The staff are extremely friendly and children are always welcome. They also do a great early bird menu if you are looking to save a bit of money. If you like Moroccan food or you are just after something a bit different then give it a try. As the food is freshly prepared they cater for gluten-free customers too.

I've been visiting this restaurant for 10 years and can say I've never been disappointed wether you go once a year or more the quality of food and service at the family run restaurant is always second to none. It caters for all occasions a meal with friends, to a party and deals with it spectacularly always giving great food and hospitality.

Have visited Moreno's several times and have always had a wonderful evening. This time we celebrated my daugther's birthday. The atmosphere is a friendly environment and families are welcomed. The food is excellent. My partner ordered the steak and it was cooked to perfection. I ordered the chicken tagine which is delicious and comes with a bowl of couscous to soak up the flavours.We have tried the homemade lamb meatballs and the oven baked salmon as part of the early bird menu and have also ordered the tapas before.Definitely worth a visit.

Its been far too long since we visited this little gem of a family run restaurant.Yet we still got a very warm welcome from the chef, who left the kitchen to come and say hello, and the owner who always makes us feel so welcome. Its just like visiting family.And the food is as good as ever. We both had a tagine, I had lamb, my wife had chicken. Packed full of flavour, just the right level of spice.We really need to do this more often.Thanks guys.

We love visiting Morenos, the food is always fantastic and all the staff are so friendly and accommodating, it's a real pleasure visiting. The chicken livers and fish tagine are favourites of ours and when we phone to reserve our table we often pre-order them as they are so popular and we'd hate to miss out. I would definitely recommend visiting....once you've been, you'll definitely return!

Family friendly restaurant,we drank Casablanca beers and mint tea, for starters we Had prawn cocktails.for mains we had Lamb prunes and almonds and chicken tagine with apricot, both fantastic , nice cheese cake for a sweets,Very friendly staff will be back again.

Visited Moreno's with high expectations based of a recommendation; and i must say I was not disappointed. I had the harira soup starter with the lamb tagine for the main, I also tried the couscous with vegetables that was again very tasty. The hospitality was second to none with the owner being very charismatic and welcoming to me and my family. If you want great Moroccan food with a great atmosphere this is the place you must visit!

My family visits Moreno's regularly and we always enjoy the good food and the welcome we receive from the charming host and his family/staff. At Moreno's we are made to feel special, valued customers and the food is always delicious. This visit my daughter received a complementary dessert as it was her birthday; lovely touch. I would recommend Moreno's for a family evening in pleasant surroundings with dishes a little different from the usual fare.

Had dinner here tonight and as usual of a very high standard. The place is very friendly the staff are excellent and the owner is very attentive. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone the food and ambience is superb.

Went here on 3 December great menu and fantastic food , had a great Christmas feel to the place !!! Staff were really friendly and could not do enough for you ,I would recommend this place to anyone wanting good quality food at fantastic prices !!!!! A must visit !!!! the only downside to this visit were an awful couple who started walking around the place while I was eating and start recording me and other dinners eating !!! A very different view from the comments made below

Went there for a couple of drinks tonight - whilst entering I told the owner that we won't be eating, only going to have a couple of drinks. I liked the enviorment and was appreciating the decor.Then the menu was shoved to my face a couple of times to order, I told them I have eaten already and don't fancy anything. I was happy with my water, orange juice and coffee. Later on I got a call from my sister and I was showing her the place on video and was recommending th place to her. This is when the owner rudely told me that I have not paid enough money on my bill to make a video. I apologiesed for showing the video to my sister, but the owner was furious to the point that he presented the bill and asked us to leave. He kept on yelling that we have been sitting having drinks and not eaten, whereas we had informed them already we won't be eating. Whilst arguing over this he pushed my friend Sally out, he practically held her arm pushed her.I eat all around the world and Honest to GOD i have never seen anything like this.I have called the police and reported and assault against Sally, I will be following up with the complain.I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone, in fact I have told my uncle and some other friends/family who are regular here to not to visit anymore.Rude owner who is already bothered about the dosh one spends.

Me and my husband live locally and we decided to go to Moreno's first time yesterday. Very cosy and the staff was very friendly! It was very quiet, just us and another table as it was Thursday night but the owner and the chef was very friendly and chatty. We had a very nice steak!! Good price. Will definitely come back to try the authentic mediterranean cuisine next time.

My husband and I decided to try Morenos to celebrate our wedding anniversary. 8 years ago we spent our honeymoon in Morocco so this place was the perfect choice. One thing that always stands out for us about our time in Morocco is how friendly and welcoming everyone was. Our night at Morenos was no different. We were greeted with hand shakes and huge smiles. Nothing seemed too much trouble.There was only one 2 person table left however it was in the middle of other diners so we asked to go into a quieter corner where there was a table for 6. This was no trouble for them at all and they happily moved the tables round to accommodate us.We had the pitta bread with hummus, selection of olives, prawns and feta salad to start. These were all delicious. My husband had steak for main and I had meatball tagine. These were both lovely too. We also had a jug of sangria and Irish coffees. I have to say the Irish coffee was without doubt the best I have ever had! After reading others reviews about the food I can see why there are some negative ones. Yes the food isn't of the highest standard however it was certainly enjoyable and the general feel of the restaurant is what made it for us.The owner took time out of his busy evening to come and talk to us during our meal. We had a lovely conversation about Morocco and he spoke so lovingly about his children (who were also in the restaurant). He told us that if we were to come again we should bring our 5 year old with us as they are very much a family friendly restaurant. I've already decided that we will be returning in November for my birthday and taking our daughter along too. The complimentary liqueurs at the end were a lovely touch. Thank you for such a wonderful evening. We can't wait to come back.

This restaurant doesn't look much from the outside but is well worth a visit. My girlfriend and I enjoyed a great value steak meal with a Groupon voucher and were impressed with the friendly service and lively atmosphere as well as good food and a varied menu.

Great food and wonderful service. Have been here many times and always look forward to returning. The food is Moroccan and is cooked to order and is always very tasty!. This is where we always come for a special occasion or just for an evening out with family.

Just returned from a lovely evening meal at Moreno's and felt the restaurant should receive a well deserved review. Members of our party sampled dishes from the 'set menu', as well as other dishes on offer. Both starters and main dishes were extremely flavoursome and well presented. I strongly recommend trying a tagine dish or the spicy white fish dish. Sadly none of our party had the capacity to indulge in the deserts on offer. We will certainly be returning to indulge in more of this restaurants lovely food and relaxed atmosphere, provided by the friendly and welcoming staff. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Me and my partner went here for dinner as it is 5 minutes walk from our house. We both ordered steak and really enjoyed it. The food is lovely as our the staff we would definitely recommend it.

Visited Saturday night what a hidden gem staff food and ambience excellent. Well worth a visit and you will not be disappointed will be making it a regular visit.
