The service was excellent. A very efficient waitress called Lotty was our main waitress. She was very friendly and went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed. The food was very good and reasonably priced. I would recommend The Mops and Brooms to my friends.

We had Sunday lunch here with friends and really enjoyed it. The menu is extensive and they've got great beers. Our waitress Lotty was superb. She took my allergies very seriously and was very attentive.

The service was terrible, we had to wait nearly an hour for our food and hardly ever saw a waitress to check on progress. I have been here to eat many times bit never expsuch bad service

Staff lovely but the food was disgusting and I had family down .so imbrassing the food seemed to be cooked in dirty oil.. had jalapeño poppers which made my mum sick cause of disgusting taste of oil. My brother had the fish and chips. The fish was over cooked dripping in oil.. Will never eat there again

Absolutely appalled by the dreadful food and lack of it and no gherkins yesterday. The ultimate fish and chips was absolutely disgusting. Thea is wonderful always. The second complaint is about the other lady who has served me before. Aggressive and standoffish. We left the pub yesterday not impressed. That lady has been crass rude and a bully to me over time. I hope Thea you will see this review ASAP. Very angry and upset.

The booking system was easy and well set up. We arrived a tad early but we're greeted by a bunch of smiley workers! Our server was called Lotty. She was outgoing, enthusiastic and really cared about her job & the service she gave. She was a chatty character and was really helpful with any questions we had regarding food, portion sizes & drinks. The food was phenomenal as per usual! Ps. Please don't get rid of "The Mighty Burger" It's a favourite!!! Thank you all so much, I’m already excited for the next visit☺️☺️

Normally amazing, got my order wrong 3 times and charged me to correct it without refunding the incorrect order. Not sure if she was new or whether this is new policy, but a normally great service was marred by todays experience

Fantastic to be back and my Sunday pub lunch was wonderful! Had the delicious Roast Turkey lunch with all the trimmings. Thea was brilliant. I arrived a trifle early and she very kindly let me come in to thaw out which was so needed!! The selection of lunches and beverages is always superb here. Me and my mate had a really enjoyable relaxing time. We are looking forward to returning .

Went here yesterday for our Christmas lunch I’ve had many a roast dinner at the mops but yesterday was delicious The roast dinner and dessert were fantastic but the starter the chicken pate with toasted bread although I ate most of it the presentation was awful Two round balls of the pate dumped on top of two slices of nice bread one of which had a dollop of cranberry sauce on which I couldn’t butter if I’d wanted to it was a bit slap dash but I understand it was a busy period but I would have been happy with one slice of bread cut in triangles on the side with a blob of cranberry jam not a lot of effort required I mean who wants to eat two slices of toast before a roast dinner. (Something to think about) All in all I had a lovely meal served by lovely staff in a lovely pub which was a lovely experience. Well done to all the staff you worked really hard to make our day special

Went with friends for Xmas meal inthe evening. Sadly, like all McMullen pubs, the quality of food had declined since lockdown. The liver pate was without seasoning and bland (a jam like substance on top had to be removed as I have a low sugar diet) . The main course was similarly tasteless. Add to this, the service was poor and inattentive.

I come to see family member from the South coast every month or so and it really is one of my most favourite places to go. Usually 2 of us sometimes 3. Relaxing, food always excellent. All staff excellent. Debbie yesterday, as she always is, is friendly, professional, caring and so lovely and even though infrequent visits, she remembers you, weighs up the occasion and reacts accordingly. She is a really asset to the business, but then all the staff are so good and obviously a very well run business who deserves all the lovely reviews. Well done and I will be back! Linda

From the moment my partner and I walked into the mops and brooms, we felt very welcome by the amazing staff! Lottie served us,very attentive and friendly! The food was amazing (my partner had two roast beef lunches!) Will be going back there very soon

Booked a table for 4pm Sunday. Looking forward to having a roast dinner and a few drinks. Arrived on time but was disappointed to be told that they had run out of roast dinner options. We left and went to our local The White Horse restaurant where we had an excellent roast dinner.

The Mops has slipped off our top spot recently because they have so many celebration events (weddings, birthdays etc) and you cannot get a seat and when you do you cannot get served. It is a shame as their food is good and it is local to us and our friends.

We visited for lunch with our two grandchildren. Great selection on 3 menus, adult, children and specials. Lotty served us and was so friendly and amenable with the children’s requests. We have visited a few times, sadly it was raining today, but the garden is great for kids in the summer.

As always Mops and Brooms is somewhere that is consistently good. Lovely food and staff who are very attentive and friendly. Food always hot. Its a pleasure to visit here. I live out of the area but take a family member here roughly once a month. This time it was Paige who served us, but I have to say all servers are brilliant. Well done Mops and Brooms

Beautiful setting, lovely pub with good menu choice. Food arrived in good time, hot and delicious. All staff really friendly and helpful. Garden space is perfect. My kids say it’s got beautiful vibes, so it must be good!

We were looking for somewhere that could accommodate 8 people ranging in age from 6 to 84, plus dog. My cousin booked us in to this pub that she likes. It was too hot to sit outside so they found a room inside just for ourselves The menu is very good, catering for children as well as vegans, one of our group is restricted in her diet and they provided teh sald as requested. The food choice is pub food but elevated. We all enjoyed teh food - fish and chips, burger, chicken burger, vegan bangers and mash. The food was tasty and the portions large. The dog got his own bowl of water There was also vegan vanila ice cream, an excellent Eton mess and ice lollies for those remembering their childhoods We had a variety of drins to go with all this There is a play area that the youngest in our group enjoyed What I would highlight is the exceptionaaly lovely service, the servers were very pleasant, accommodating and given teh volumes they were dealing with patient and efficient - well done

We had a lovely lunch here with very friendly staff, who were rushed off their feet, but still had time to be attentive to our needs with a friendly smile and funny comment, especially Lotty our server. my fish gougon sandwich with salad was lovely. When the rest of my group left, they were happy for me to sit in their lovely garden for a while so that my neices ages 7 and 11 could continue to play on the equipment. Thank you.

Ok pub, staff are nice and friendly however, the manager lets it down. He’s rude, unwelcoming and surly. We will not be back due to his churlish attitude.

Our favourite pub and let us down yet again (3rd time now we have walked out). They were having a party today and no space to eat as it was all blocked off. Last time they were having a wedding and it was blocked off and the time before some party. Why do they do this....why not inform people (the regulars). The regulars are getting fed up with it. Remember Thea your regular customers are your bread and butter. Not sure we will try it again now.

Looking for somewhere to eat when visiting my son and being very fussy (!) I'd rejected around 8 pubs on carpet alone!! Chose Mops and Brooms, and wasn't disappointed. Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, superb food and excellent, friendly service from our waitress, Debbie. The tapas selection was good value and delicious. Thank you. Also enjoyed watching the birds from the window, nesting in the hedges! Will return.

Distinctly average and overpriced for what you get. My meal was horrible. Overcooked halloumi on stale bread and a few cold chips. The staff were pleasant but would not recommend and won’t be going back.

It was great to be back at the Mops and Brooms again since the Christmas lockdown for a delicious lunch with my biker mate. I had a mouthwatering cheese and bacon burger with a side salad and chips. Me and my motorcycling mate came over Sunday for a delicious relaxing first roast turkey lunch. Absolutely fantastic, the turkey and stuffing, pigs in blankets, and all the delicious roast potatoes and vegetables were cooked to perfection. It was great to be back again and staff here are so welcoming and friendly. Nothing to fault as usual.

It's been a little while but as always me and my motorcycling mate really enjoyed coming here throughout the past few weeks during the afternoons and having some very nice red wine. Staff here so pleasant and professional. My biker friend accidentally dropped his wallet when he ordered our drinks. Within two minutes one of the staff came out to hand it back to him which was so nicely professionally done. We always enjoy sitting outside, even when it suddenly poured down with rain which we then sat in the beautiful arch. Thank you again for always being such a welcoming pub. Food and alcohol choices here are superb with a plethora of fine meals despite covid.

I eat and drink in the mops and brooms a lot because I work locally. Some of the waitresses could not be better when it comes to customer service.The food however, has been overcooked on occasion and worst experience has been today when we we're mumbled at from behind the bar. One of us forgot to put our face mask on and instead of a polite reminder that we needed to wear them for some reason the person behind the bar thought it was appropriate to say, "Well I aint Servin' ya until you got your face mask on" whilst slouching back..I am not sure who he thought he was speaking to but I would expect some more curtesy as a customer. I hope to have another conversation with the individual when I return and I will be expecting an apology for the unnecessary rude attitude.

This is my local. Visited Saturday 15th August with friends for lunch. Friendly welcome, shown to table, but we asked if we could move to another one - no problem as they were not too busy.Friendly and helpful waitresses, lovely mains and desserts, food and drink orders arrived promptly, we were not rushed in any way and good value for money compared to some. What’s not to like?

First visit and will definitely be back! Delicious food in a classy & spacious environment. Friendly, efficient and accommodating service. Excellent value for money.

I had the suday turkey roast and my wife had the sea bass.My roast was delicious a more than ample portion of turkey,plenty of potatoes and vegetables and of course a large yorkshire pudding all nicely cooked.My wife enjoyed her meal the sea bass which again was nicely cooked and presented.Our waitress Lorette despite being very busy was extremely pleasant and helpful.Will definately visit again.

We were a table of 19 so we had a corner of the restaurant to ourselves which was great as we had five little ones with us and we were able to spread out . Had a couple of really lovely lunches here recently. Typical country dining decor, varied menu and above very inviting and friendly staff. Service was good without feeling rushed. The staff were attentive and welcoming. We will be visiting again soon.

I would give this Pub 10 stars if possible. I had my 70th Birthday Party there on Sunday 15th December. We had a party of 28 with adults and children. The food was excellent. Everyone had a great time. Table was all decorated to include Xmas crackers as it was the Christmas menu. Staff were lovely and helpful. A big thank you to Thea and all her team for making my party so great. There is plenty of parking in front and at the rear. Nice garden and the children played out even though its December. In the summer it would be a great place for children. Thank you again to everyone.

We were a group of 25 for a meal and the service and the food was excellent. The pub had atmosphere. The staff worked fast and hard with smiles on their faces. The food was serviced hot. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.

We had a fabulous woman who waited on us - sorry do not recall her name (very short hair). The food was better than OK, not fine dining/excellent but good pub food and they were incredibly busy.They have a vegan and gluten free menu which is is great.

Ate the Sunday (late) lunch here with a friend this past weekend. He recommended the place as he lives in the area. The roast was good and the portion quite big for just £10. Drinks are a bit expensive. The only thing is that the pub was really packed and we had to wait a while to get a table, even though it was almost 3pm and not really lunch time. They advised to book for Sunday lunch.

We were staying at hotel in Boreham wood, and meeting family at Mops & Brooms after we'd eaten. Having looked at website we decided to eat at Mops and Brooms at 6.30p.m. & booked table on line. Very pleased we did, as 2 courses was plenty, starter & Main were generous portions, well presented served by friendly staff. Husband happy as draught beer was good, as was my cider. Moved from Dining room to comfortable bar area when 3 family members arrived. Other family members use the pub, especially garden, in the summer with their children.

Have been going to this pub on and off since I was a baby. I have to say the decor now is lovely and the food is good but the manager behind the bar is so very rude with no people skills. He is so bad we no longer want to use the pub.

There were 18 of us including some young children. They reserved a large area for us. The service was exceptional; Our server Loretta, who was brilliant, took control of all the ordering and everything went perfectly.

Gosh this place has changed. I remember last time food was ok but decor was awful and carpet was 70's and gross.

We have visited the Mops many times now. However busy it is the staff are always welcoming, efficient and helpful. The food is also excellent. Jodie and Thomas are always friendly and helpful without being annoying. I think the managers had better watch out that someone else doesn't snap them up. The chef is also great. All the food is really good and well presented.

Lovely woman on the bar gives the best recommendations for food and drink....the food is lovely great place to go!

This place had a lovely ambiance along with great food and service. It has quite a large car park and a garden too. The only negative thing I would say is for a Saturday afternoon the music was a bit too loud. But otherwise had a lovely lunch and would definitely return and recommend.

Best Christmas day dinner in a restaurant I've had and I eat out every xmas day. Cooked to perfection and cosy homely atmosphere.

The food quality itself was good - my only niggle was the size of the portions of potatoes that accompanied both dishes we had. A few new potatoes with the seabass and a small portion of chips with the ham and eggs (even though we ordered a fulll size portion of the latter, rather than a lunch portion). The service started well and food was served efficiently, but we had to wait rather a long time for dessert and coffee. It is a really nicely decorated pub and very clean with lots of interesting artefacts. A lovely garden area.

fantastic food, I had jacket and partner had mixed grill. Good size portions and prices. couple of grumbles though: I was surprised it too half an hour to receive food and the sauces arrive in little silver cups, no way near enough for the usual sauce eater so you end up asking for more and they surprisingly don't stock salad cream!

Decided to visit Mops and Brooms yesterday evening around half 5, for a mother’s day meal. Have visited before and it’s always been quite nice. Yesterday when we arrived it was quite busy but we sat and waited for a free table and ordered drinks in the meantime. Our table number was 10. We ordered our food, my husband and I ordered a roast dinner, and my daughters ordered the scampi. Firstly, when the food arrived, my husband tasted the gravy and discovered it was burnt. The waitress took both of our dinners back and came back with fresh dinners, however this time, there was barely any gravy! As far as the portion sizes go, for what you pay for, it’s very minimal. The amount of meat was adequate and was very nice, however, there were about 4 potatoes on my plate and the tiniest roast potatoes I had ever seen! Basically the size of new potatoes, and there was one piece of cauliflower cheese, a few carrots, and shreds of cabbage scattered around. Overall severely lacking in vegetables. After I had eaten, I was shocked to find walking past another table who also had roast dinners that their roast dinner was twice the size with very generous portions and nice big roast potatoes! They had obviously paid for extra as on the menu you could have “extra” potatoes or cauliflower cheese for around £3 however regardless of whether we have paid for an upgrade, for £10 we should still be receiving a reasonably sized portion of everything and the same size roast potatoes and I feel this is very unfair. A roast dinner is mostly vegetables and therefore isn’t and shouldn’t be an expensive meal. Our daughters scampi was nice however was also a minimal portion size, more like a children’s meal. With regards to the customer service, this was also lacking. When our food was initially given to us by one of the table runners, we asked her for some sauces for the roast dinner and the scampi (which ideally scampi should be served with a pot of tartare sauce anyway) and whilst the runner was grabbing these, she was on the phone to another customer, rather than seeing to us first, which meant we had to wait even longer to start eating our food. I could have fetched them quicker myself. Another fault here was that there was no mint sauce when we had asked, and why wouldn’t you have this when serving roast dinners in a restaurant. After we had eaten, we gave feedback on the poor quality of the food to our waitress and she replied with “the kitchen staff have worked very hard and been very good today”. This felt more as a defence rather than an apology, and she continued to express how busy it had been and that this was the reason for the errors with the food however this is not good enough. If it is busy, and they can’t provide the correct portion sizes or good quality of food then they should not be seating people. Unfortunately, encounters like this deter you from coming out for meals on occasions like that as you just feel that you’re going to be disappointed. A lot of people do not go out for a meal very often and the rarity for when they do, it should be overall a pleasant experience, and yesterday it was not. Unfortunately, because of this, I would not recommend nor be returning to mops and brooms for a meal, even though I used to enjoy coming to this pub to eat.

Whilst on tour with a UK theatre show (Memory Lane) the cast and I stopped for lunch at the Mops and Brooms.

We pre booked a table for 16 people, a mixed group here for a National competition. The pub is great and looks really nice inside and appears to be in a nice location, a short walk from our hotel. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. Especially the waitress who looked after us and took time to have a chat even though they were all extremely busy. (apologies but I didn't get her name). The only downside and the reason this is 3 star and not 4 or 5, is the fact they took another booked for around 30 people (one of the other teams in the competition) for exactly the same time, which just didn't make any sense at all. The staff were frantically running around and it took a long time to get our food, especially between courses. (With the other team being served before us, even though we arrive before them). One of our party did ask when the food was going to arrive, and the staff were very friendly and professional. However it would have been good for the management to acknowledge that maybe 2 large bookings at the same time is not a good idea and offer a simple apology. (Maybe even apologise to the staff, as I imagine this was stressful to them as well.)

We were quite early for lunch at 12 so had choice if table.

Had a wonderful meal in here, first time and it was great, we really enjoyed the food and seemed like it was very passionately cooked, only downfall would be the car park that really didn’t have enough parking spaces at all and were forced to park away from the pub. Worth it!

had a Christmas linch with 6 friends, and whiist some said their meal was just average, mine was outstanding. I ordered a Prawn Cocktail starter, which would have been better with more Marie Rose sauce, but the main course of Braised Beef with caramalised onions and mash and red wine gravey was OUTSTANDING. One of the best meals i have had in a long time, I almost licked the plate, and will have that dish again whenever i next go there.
