Moose Kitchen in Bournemouth

Once I walked in, I thought the place looked so cute. I love the atmosphere. The service was amazing. Our waiter was super patient and answered all of our questions. Everyhing was beautiful and tasty. My whole table loves their food. We were all thoroughly impressed. Will definitely be back!

First visited November last year and drove all the way from Portsmouth in a storm just to come back when I had a hankering for their macaroni cheese balls. Absolutely worth it! By far the loveliest atmosphere and the most fantastic service with a smile. Highly recommend!

Me (a regular) and my friend (new to moose kitchen) went for dinner the other day and the food was as good as ever. My friend is vegan and was grateful for the array of vegan options when other places in Bournemouth just have ‘salad’ or no vegan options at all. He polished off the Vegan Deep Fried Burrito and compliments it to this day. I enjoyed my ‘usual’ of the Philly Cheese with Red Wine Jus and Marinara sauce. It’s always a lovely experience just drinking in Moose kitchen; the food being to-die-for is just a plus. I’m constantly looking forward to eating there and I will once again be ordering a Philly cheese for my dinner next week :)

Sometimes you just feel lucky to find a really good restaurant, with excellent service.and brilliantly cooked food from an imaginative menu. That's this place. Try the macaroni balls starter. Just fantatsic.

A1, couldn't fault the food and service and surroundings. All home made quality food and value for money. Also you can park outside for free for 2 hours which is a plus in Bournemouth. So good we plan to go again.

I’m a Canadian who’s lived here for 26 years. I was craving a taste of home and found this restaurant in a Google search. The menu looked great and the reviews were really good, so hubby and I went this evening to try it out. The owner was so welcoming and friendly. The food and service were outstanding. At the end when we said we couldn’t linger because we needed to get back for one of our dogs she said we should bring her next time and pointed out the dog friendly sign. We had already planned to come back but that clinched it for us. Between us we had the Roast Beef Dip and the Whiskey River Meatloaf. We upgraded one of our fries to Poutine to share. It was all so good. Hubby said it was the best meatloaf he’s ever had. We can’t wait to go back to try some of the other dishes. We would absolutely recommend this restaurant for the food, service and atmosphere. 5 stars from us.

First time visiting Moose Kitchen, absolutely blown away! Less than a 10 minute walk from the beach, perfect location, the interior design is a perfect vibe for music lovers, framed art, band memorabilia, playlist was awesome, each song flooded my mind with memories! The restaurant has a lovely indoor patio area for customers, where the bifold doors were fully opened which made us feel we were dining alfresco. We were greeted and served by Kay, friendly and engaging, and definitely makes sure you enjoy your time there, nothing was too much for her, amazing service! I ordered the Roast Beef Dip.. Hot roast beef stacked on a garlic baguette, with a bowl of beef & red wine jus for dipping, served with homemade slaw and skin on fries. Wow, just wow, the beef was so succulent and fries cooked to perfection, but that beef & red wine jus was absolutely DELICIOUS ! We had the pleasure of meeting the head chef Sara, so professional and passionate about what she serves! You can see the love and hard work they have put into this wonderful restaurant, our visit to Moose Kitchen was honestly the highlight of our day trip to Bournemouth. Thank you both!!

Didn't know quite to expect from this Canadian eatery but Oh My Godness what a treat. The front of house was absolutely on point as was the hand crafted playlist. The food was AMAZING. Hot wings with blue cheese sauce, shroom cheese burger, chilli dog ... everything was delicious snd clearly authentically made and with love. Will defo be back.

What a find this was! Looking for a non chain restaurant whilst spending a weekend in Bournemouth chanced upon this place on here. We were not disappointed! We had an early booking ( 6.30pm ) changed from a later evening one but by text exchange which was really personal and helpful. I was a little worried that it was too early on a Friday evening to have any atmosphere but although a little sparse in diners at that time the hospitality from the owners ( and a friend helping out that evening ) more than made up for it! Also - the food was absolutely amazing! Huge portions, really tasty and not fussy which was a welcome change. Didn’t take any photos as devoured it all too quickly!!! Cannot recommend highly enough for somewhere a bit different amongst all the usual chains!! If we come back to Bournemouth we’ll definitely be heading back !!

This is a great place to eat,because it has lots of different foods. I highly recommend the chicken tenders and chips. It will fill you up the chips were nicely salted 4 chicken tenders were £5.Lots of chips came with a box you can take home altogether good place to eat.

The staff was super nice and the starters was extremely delicious🤩The burgers was super juicy and I really love the halloumi fries was the bes👍👍👍

Visited with a group of friends. The service was outstanding. We felt so welcome and looked after. The poutine and meatloaf were loved by our group. Unfortunately, the three of us who ordered burgers were left disappointed, especially as they weren’t cheap (£18 each). I ordered the garlic mushroom burger which was recommended but I wouldn’t have guessed it contained any of the ingredients listed in the menu. The patty was too thick, lacking flavour and on the dry side. We had a lovely time, I would have just rather ordered something else.

It’s good food it just isn’t very… Canadian. No Nova Scotia lobster roll (there is a seafood chowder but that’s a New England dish), no Québécois butter tarts or pea and ham soup. No nanaimo bars, not even pierogies, the pride of the prairies (I know, I know, they’re Polish and there’s a burger with pierogi, bizarrely), not even a Blueberry grunt. Yep, there’s poutine and there’s maple syrup, but nachos (Mexican), Philly (PHILLY) cheese steaks, KEY LIME (Florida!) and MISSISSIPPI mud pie…. They’re not Canadian. I had high hopes of finding food that I miss from home. I found none of that here. Adding poutine to the menu is not enough to call yourself a ‘Canadian’ eatery.

Great little restaurant. Food was awesome and definitely worth a visit. Food was fresh and very tasty with an extra twist on each dish, which made it a great, unique experience. A must if you’re in the area.

Not worth the price. Ordered a burger, it took ages to come and it was burned. Not a pleasant experience. The ambient is lovely. And the staff extremely friendly. Still would not recommend, it for the price and quality.

Believe the hype! This place is absolutely epic! We had the roast beef dip, what the cluck burger, poutine and homemade marinara macaroni cheese balls. All absolutely delicious and served with a smile. Such friendly hosts with a wonderful atmosphere. You will be hard pressed...

Went for my birthday celebrations with girls from work. It was my friends first Moose experience and they were not disappointed! Kay is friendly & welcoming, you get the feeling nothing would be too much trouble. All of our food was ready together, freshly cooked...

We were eventually able to visit The Moose Kitchen as our previous stay in Bournemouth had also coincided with when they are closed and it was definitely worth the wait. The service & staff were outstanding, the food was cooked to perfection and the music beyond belief!Anybody visiting Bournemouth needs to make this restaurant there No.1 choice - you will not be disappointed, and to cap it off they are “dog friendly”…..what more could you ask for!

Visited on our anniversary as we went to Canada on our honeymoon 20 years ago. Food and service was exceptional especially the seafood chowder. I liked the menu size not too big but everything was perfect. Liked the atmosphere and music. Will definitely return.

We were on a short mini break and saw the reviews for Moose Kitchen. I have a long History with Canada and go there almost every year. The Poutine was so good. The places was lovely, clean, Sara and Kay were great, polite and staff there were so friendly. I went there with my wife and two daughter and we were so full, the portions were just amazing and we were so pleased with all the great tastes. It was really good. If your in the area, I would definitely recommend booking a table and paying them a visit - you won't be disappointed.

Went with a friend for a mid week catch up and to celebrate our birthdays- they gave us both a drink on the house which was so nice! And the food was delicious and definitely authentically Canadian with the best poutine I’ve had over here! (I’m Canadian so I take poutine very seriously ). A friendly spot for sure.

Everything about a visit to Moose Kitchen is always amazing - the friendly, welcoming atmosphere created by brilliant staff, the food is always INCREDIBLE and the portion sizes are phenomenal. Most recently we went for a valentines meal and there was a special set menu for the evening which was great to get to try lots of different things rather than have to choose just one of the yummy options they have! Sara and Kay have set up a brilliant business and make a really wonderful atmosphere in their restaurant. Would give six stars if I could!

We travelled down to Bournemouth for a weekend away and text to book Moose Kitchen en route. We were lucky enough that they had a cancellation and can definitely see why it was fully booked beforehand.The food was incredible, especially the chilli in the Hot Burger. There wasn’t a scrap left on our plates although goodness knows how we managed because the portions were huge!But even more enjoyable than the food was the service. The whole rooms was abuzz with a friendly energy that was generated and maintained by warm and friendly staff. Whenever we’re back that way again, we’ll be back to visit… next time we won’t leave it until the journey up to book.

I came in and asked what they could do for me that was gluten free and they bent over backwards to make sure I had many options, adapting the menu wherever they could to give me choice. Park your car down hill from moose kitchen as you will easily eat your body weight in delicious food and I feel rolling out would have been easier than walking up hill afterwards!The first restaurant I have ever been into where you are treated as individuals, and walk away feeling like friends.

This is a very friendly place. We have been twice now. Dog friendly. Lovely burgers and Canadian fare. Vegetarian and vegan options are tasty. Highly recommended. We will be returning. Thanks Sara and Kay.

Another excellent meal and the staff were on point too. I have also discovered, that for a reasonable fee, on road parking allows us to park next to the restaurant. Just a word of caution - the portions are huge.

I went to this restaurant last night for my birthday booked for 7:30 I hadn’t been there for 3 months where me and my girl friends found this little gem and I was concerned as I loved the 1st visit and I wondered if my mind made it more than it worth……..Well I can tell you I was not disappointed and def worth the wait. The food was on point the service with host was amazing they don’t make you feel rushed it was a wonderful chilled night I have read some of the reviews (well negative ones) and I can honestly say I never had a bad visit I ordered different items each time and was never disappointed and plus my husband love it too X

This was not my first meal with these guys, but was the first at the new premises. The restaurant has not lost any of its charm with bigger premises, it still has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere with great music and most importantly great food! The staff are truly welcoming, and we enjoyed swapping gig and festival stories. Very reasonable prices for the quality and quantity of the food served and drinks are very fairly priced. Why would you go to any heartless chain places when you have places like this?? We all left stuffed and happy.

Moose kitchen equals very high quality food, lovely ambiance and friendly staff. The burgers are freshly made of 8oz beef. The hallumi is made to perfection. And if all these are not enough, there is NHS and blue light discount as well. In a nutshell if you die from a heart attack it’s well worth it!

Excellent service. Genuine friendly owners and staff. Decent menu choice and quality food. Large portions. Understand why it is so highly rated. Will be back.

A lovely little restaurant serving amazing food. The Poutine was absolutely amazing. My daughter says it was one of the best burgers she has ever had. The Moosehead pale ale was a great choice to wash it all down with. Will definitely go again when in Bournemouth

Had not only the best customer service! But the tastiest meal ever! I’ve never been before and I couldn’t be more happier.If you want amazing food and service this is the place to be! I also had my 5 year old with me and he really enjoyed it. They asked if we would like his food a bit quicker then the rest of the party’s food I thought that this was a very kind thoughtful request and have never been asked this is any other restaurant before.Could not recommend enough 10/10

Picked this restaurant at random to go out for dinner with daughter and friends - what a lucky choice! The food was fantastic - have never had poutine before but am now a convert - amazing burgers and gravy to die for. The place is run by a lovely couple who make you so welcome and clearly love what they’re doing and it shows. Fab place, can’t wait to go there again.

My family and I dined here after walking through the gardens and viewing the Christmas trees and lights. The food was excellent with a good selection on the menu, having visited Canada many times Kay and Sara really have captured the Canadian flair. The staff were really friendly and attentive.

Just a couple of minutes from the beach, nearby parking and within the excitement of the gardens, you will find Moose Kitchen. It's been a couple of years since I've been able to enjoy the amazing food and I was not disappointed. Best ever poutine and Whiskey river meatloaf - plus authentic Moose head lager. It doesn’t get better than this. So support Sara and Kay who were welcoming and even got my Reggie the cockapoo some meat tasters.

Great little independent restaurant.Ran by one of the best host's you will find in a restaurant.Such a friendly welcome and made to feel comfortable as soon as we entered the building.Ordered halloumi fries, which were without doubt the best we have tasted, with a fantastic homemade dip.We both ordered burgers & they were both outstanding, upgraded to poutine which was also amazing.What we were really impressed about how hot the food came if the kitchen, you could tell it was all freshly cooked.Well worth the wait.Still cannot believe that we still had room for desert, but if you are there you must try the Mississippi mud pie, because you will not be disappointed.To me this is comfort food at its best, just a great meal on a cold winter's night, just what is needed.Great night was had, excellent service & food.Credit must be given to all especially the chef.We will without fail return.

Visited again after a wonderful experience a few months ago and again was delighted by all aspects of this place ! Great atmosphere, great service friendly and efficient and not rushed in and out. So great to find an independent restaurant bang in the middle of town and at a fair price for the experience. Mac and cheese is amazing and the burgers are all freshly home made! I've have better food in spoons and could have 10 times as many for the price. Number 1 restaurant in Bournemouth? Not even close.

After seeing that this place was rated NO. 1!!! in bournemouth, my friends and I had extremely high expectations. However, we left decidedly disappointed. While the service was very friendly and the drinks were nice, the food was obscenely overpriced (£17 for a beef and cheese baguette). While the food was by no means disgusting, it was certainly not up to a standard that could be classed as the best in town, particularly with the eyewatering price tag. I understand that independent businesses struggle to cover costs in more central locations, sometimes justifying higher prices, but the food was simply not good enough to feel worth it. The chips felt like supermarket oven chips and the pancakes were tasteless. While I understand from previous reviews that the chef is native Canadian, this does not guarantee that their cooking is automatically excellent, regardless of how authentic it claims to be. Sadly won't be returning as £100 for two people is a price tag only justifiable in the best restaurants, which I believe this is certainly not.

My mum and I were booked in at the tapas next door but when we arrived it was in darkness. The team at Moose Kitchen offered us a table and couldn’t have been more helpful. Friendly and attentive service, great food and very reasonably priced. Would recommend without hesitation. Thank you for saving our evening!

We booked this for dinner based on the Tripadvisor recommendation and we were not disappointed. Kay and the team gave us a fantastic welcome. The rock playlist had us singing along while we waited for food - which was incredible. The beef in the burgers had a great flavour and it was nice to have a kids menu that went beyond the usual nuggets - 5 year old wolfed down the pizza dog. The selection of Canadian beers were a nice treat too. We will definitely be back the next time we're in the area.

Went here for a Saturday dinner, very friendly staff, great portions and very filling food. Have never had Canadian food before and the restaurant was recommended to us. We all enjoyed it, the beef dripping dip dinner was delicious as were the poutines.

Text an hour ahead and Kay speedily replied saying they could fit us in on first sitting. After reading reviews we opted for the beef dip on garlic baguette which didn’t disappoint! We also went for the chicken n greens burger - succulent buttermilk chicken in a crispy coating with a fab guacamole and touch of heat - delicious! We tried the triple cooked chips and fries, both great, and a fab fresh coleslaw on the side. All topped off with a sumptuously key lime pie and wonderful warm, friendly service from Kay and the team! Book ahead and go!!

After reading so many good reviews I've been wanting to try here for a while so decided to book for my birthday. Well the reviews are definitely not lying, the food is soooo good!! I shared the macaroni balls for starter (good job we shared as these are BIG balls), best balls I've tasted!! We then ordered the roast beef dip, cheese and bacon burger, meatloaf and kids chicken goujons for main - all delicious, particularly the roast beef dip which other members of my party kept stealing from me! We didn't really need dessert but it would be rude not to! Front of house was so friendly and welcoming which really makes a huge difference as well and you can tell they put their heart into the food. Hubby and I have already been trying to work out a date for our next visit and looking at the menu to decide what to order next time!

Still sitting in the restaurant having eaten the most amazing Whiskey River Meatloaf and Roast Beef Dip. Wow, fab, amazing. The service from walking in was superb, the food great and you must also try the Caesar cocktail. Will definitely be back.

I love my food I love my burgers and they did not disappoint 1st of all booking a table was easy and simple bonus When we got there the owner (one of them) was seating and welcoming everyone I mean she was so lovely2nd menu I mean I wanted it all but we order 3 different starter one was the Mac and cheese balls omg they were huge but Amazing Then we order a burger literally beats 7 bones it was so juicy and I was in love 3rd the pudding mud pie was to die forI would happily go back again not only for the lovely owners but there food was amazing 100% well worth the trip to bournemouth

We had read the reviews and were expecting good quality, tasty food. We were not disappointed! The standard of the food was excellent and did exactly what was wanted/expected. We had the beef dip and the bacon burger with poutine. Needless to say I now want a jus dip with all main meals. Kay on front of house was so lovely and really made us feel at home. OK, like most people reviewing here I had to try out the food and customer service that everyone was raving about.As a summary, it delivered both in buckets.Never before have I walked in to a restaurant to be greeted by genuinely smiling and waving staff looking so pleased that we had all arrived. How wonderful!Firstly, the place felt welcoming from the staff to the ambience and kicking tunes being played in the place.Becky (with the big hair and even bigger smile!) introduced herself to us and took us to our reserved table in the corner.Menus handed out, orders placed and food delivered without a problem.There were 5 of us and we tried some starters to share. Nachos, Poutine and Halloumi fries. All deliciousMains were varied too. Roast Beef Dip was my favourite. Garlic bread with beef? Who'd have thought and dipped in to the beef jus was just devine. 'What the Cluck?' was a feast for our daughter (so we helped her with it:)) The fried chicken was SO moist and packed flavour. I was expecting it to be dryer but it was perfect. The 2 other burgers were tasty and juicy. I was hoping they were not red in the middle as these are handmade burgers but they were cooked perfectly throughout. The last was the Pizza Dog which looked kinda weird but reports back were bang on. To be honest when the food came out it didn't look much compared to a standard meal out when you'd expect a whole plate covered in food but we could all just not eat it all (and I have a big appertite)! If I was more local, I'd have a seat with my name on it.Staff/owner were excellent from the smiles and waves at the start of our visit to the good nights at the end of it.Tips: Dont wear anything tight (you may lose a button at the end of the night!). Smile and be polite. You get back what you put in!

We were greeted by a really friendly smile and asked where we would like to sit, the service throughout was exemplary. The food was spot on, very tasty and very very filling - if you want a pudding don’t even think about a starter

My husband and I visited this restaurant as our last meal during our Bournemouth visit. Both service and food were amazing. The host was a great fun added to the overall experience. This is definitely a MUST TRY restaurant if you are living locally or visiting Bournemouth. Shame that we live in London and I feel that we need more independent restaurants like this one.Following were what we ordered:* Customised non-alcoholic cocktail: I have been trying to stay away from alcohol due to medical reasons and often find my options limited. The host was very accommodating to my request. The drink served was definitely one of the best cocktails I ever had ( I am not a cocktail fan normally so I am kind of picky). * Seafood Chowder: Really really really good. Wasn’t sure about the bread until I had the first bite. It’s soft and perfect for dipping. I had various claim chowders in San Fran and can honestly say that the chowder at Moose Kitchen is just as good. * Meatloaf: A little too sweet for me but my husband loves it. This dish is perfect for Hunter’s Chicken fans. * Mac & Cheese balls: They are giant and so moist inside. It would be great if the restaurant can consider offering a tasting menu (small portion varieties) as there are so many other dishes I’d like to try.Final note:Prepared to be stuffed and the portions were generous! :)))

Chicken wings, fabulous chilli flavour, with Burgers to die for - tried to tease out the recipe for the homemade coleslaw - followed by Key Lime pie. Fantastic banter from front of house with cocktails flowing made it a really special evening. Apparently my partners Bean burger was the best she had ever had. Don't miss out if you can get a table!

The title says it all really. One of the best meals I've eaten recently and the best poutine I've had since I was in Canada. Had the roast beef dip.

Wonderful tasty food. Great service. Worth every penny. Meatloaf in bbq sauce was unbelievable, it makes me want to move to Bournemouth! The meat jus with the beef dish was just as good. Yummy.

Incredible food, amazing service, great atmosphere. We celebrated my daughter’s 21st here and were so impressed. Really tasty, massive portions and excellent value for money

The food was amazing and the staff were so kind and lovely. To add even more the atmosphere was brilliant! I was so upset I couldn’t finish my Mississippi mud pie, but was given a box with EXTRA cream, staff here think of the little things and it makes such a lovely experience.

If dining was all about food then Moose Kitchen would earn five stars hands down. But, we know dining is about much more than just what we eat, it's about service, atmosphere, presentation... and this restaurant nails every aspect!The place has a nice Canadian lodge/diner decor going on which combines with a playlist of Americana anthems to give a great and appropriate vibe (honestly every song played was such a banger it was a struggle not to drum along or air guitar!).As soon as I started seeing food delivered to other tables my hunger ramped up because it all looked so good. This is not a place to go if you want food presented in a way it could go on show in the Tate Modern. This is where to go when you want to look at food that makes your stomach grumble and mouth salivate.When it came to food, I ordered a 'dirty Philly cheese steak' (Philly cheese steak with blue cheese) and a side of halloumi fries. The steak was tender, the blue cheese, onion and mushroom top was divine. The triple cooked chips weren't so much a side as a main component of the meal they tasted so good! For desert I ordered a key lime pie (my all time favourite desert) and it did NOT disappoint; creamy with a firm but not over powering base and the perfect tart hit of lime that delivered with every bite. Also, portion sizes will not leave you hungry!What Moose Kitchen truly has over every other restaurant I've visited though, was their customer service. That isn't to say other restaurants are bad, but the staff at Moose Kitchen blew the competition out the water. Never have I been made to feel so welcome to go somewhere. Everyone I interacted with gave such sincere, friendly service. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us having a good experience and it is so clear that they take great pride in the product they offer!This is a place I will go back to again and again. I genuinely look forward to returning to see the staff and owners again, and trying everything their menu has to offer.P.S. Make sure to book. This place is justifiably popular and has quite a waiting list.

We went for an early dinner at Moose Kitchen and were amazed by the wonderfully tasty food and the extremely friendly welcome from very professional staff. The standard of the food and the warmest of welcomes ensured we will certainly be back! Many many thanks!

Loved this place!All the staff were really friendly and welcoming. There was a really nice relaxed atmosphere.The food and cocktails were great too!I was too full for a dessert so opted for takeaway, which I then forgot to take with me! When we got home I got a call from the restaurant offering to drop it off for me, you can't get better service than that! They really went the extra mile!You can see why they have number 1 on here!

Every aspect was brilliant! Food was amazing, good selection and different compared to norm. Service was incredible! :) Atmosphere was perfect, definitely visiting again!

We visited the Moose kitchen last night for a friends birthday and it was absolutely awesome. Great service and amazing food. I had the Perogi burger which was so delicious. Thanks guys for a wonderful evening.

Quick take : if you are looking for fantastic, high quality, north American comfort food in a buzzy atmosphere with wonderful service then Moose Kitchen is a must. Booking seems highly recommended, even on a sleepy Tuesday in mid-September, although we managed to bring our table forward thanks to a late cancellation.We arrived to find a buzzy, open restaurant with super friendly front of house (not sure if we met Sara or Kay, but we she was great!). We were seated outside on a nice evening, and quickly served with some very pleasant Canadian IPA and good selection of reasonably priced & excellent wine. The food is outstanding, we ordered the roast beef dip main course, and a southern fried clucks &green burger. We loved both, clearly they were high quality ingredients and so tasty. Top tip ; it’s well worth upgrading to the poutine chips (with cheese+thick gravy), even though the regular triple cooked chips are excellent, the poutine addition is incredible. We finished with a key lime pie , which was also very good. Moose Kitchen is a great example of Bournemouth’s regeneration, but would be a top rated place at any city in the UK – good luck to the team and keep up the amazing work !
