Super farm shop. Delicious local meat and fresh veg. The shop has so many exciting products it's impossible to go there without buying something delicious and a tea towel or a locally sourced spirit. The cafe is great. Basic tables and chairs, but the food is fabulous. Home baking, fabulous bacon sandwiches and soups. Go there for brunch. It's a must

Hadn’t been for ages but decided to go with our grandson as it used to be so good. It was absolutely dreadful. Unfriendly, uninterested staff. We opted for 2 different types of quiche which was totally tasteless with a little pot of branston pickle. Our grandson asked for a sausage sandwich which contained one very chewy hard sausage, I’m assuming it was pre cooked and reheated. Add 2 teas and a can of coke £21, which would have been fair for acceptable food but this was dreadful. Won’t be back. Oh and the attitude of the staff prevented me complaining at the time.

Just round the corner so should have tried to lunch here sooner. Visited at Christmas and bought a first class real tree. The farm shop and cafe looked inviting at Christmas so we returned for lunch and to buy fresh vegetables yesterday. The sandwiches are just perfect, you could not get more filling in if you tried. Reasonable price for a homemade lunch and it was made to order. Large variety of options including hot food. I bought a host of fresh vegetables and cooked risotto last night. The taste and flavour of the produce was perfect. Plenty of parking, very polite Team and dog friendly if you sit in the open dining area. Could be a monthly date from now on, very impressed and highly recommended.

I was told by a friend that the bacon sandwiches were the best so I decided to visit today with my daughter and granddaughter. The bacon sandwiches were delicious and the warm cheese scone was too. We had a cafetière for two, 3 cups of coffee each. The young gentleman that served us was lovely and very friendly. The ladies behind the counters were lovely too. Shame the gent that took payments for the goods wasn’t as friendly. All of the sausages we bought were so good especially the chilli ones. We bought 3 different kinds and all lovely. I’m definitely coming back next week with my Xmas order and of course a visit to the cafe. Prices were reasonable in the cafe considering its great quality food. See you next week with my order.

I've given 4/5 because it has all the cheese's I like especially " Nettle " but the food sold in the cafe is expensive and the portions small. I know the cost of living crisis is an excuse these days but it was expensive before the crisis. The service is excellent and everyone is friendly. There is a wide selection of other foods and a fresh butchers shop on site.

Visited about 5-6 months ago, and again yesterday. I vowed never to return, just me being silly and stubborn but my first visit was disappointing and I was accused of lying. Basically you have to order at the counter and pay, as usual in cafes nowadays. When items from the order didn’t arrive (missing a couple of bits) I approached the counter and queried their whereabouts. I was then told by the person who served me that I needed a receipt to prove I had ordered what I had ordered. It wasn’t busy, it’s a small cafe, and this I found very odd. After some back and forth (ended up having to show them my bank app displaying the amount paid), my remaining food arrived. Now, it’s not an inexpensive place. And, before people jump on the cost of living narrative I really don’t mind paying lots of money if the quality reflects the cost. My visit yesterday was ok, but certainly not reflective of the price of food here. Just under five quid for a bacon bun. Same for a sausage bun. Sausages were so over cooked they were rock hard and mega salty. I remember when I worked at a restaurant where the chef would precook food, then microwave it before serving. Reminded me of this. Such a shame as it could be a super super place. Staff are friendly and the farm shop is nice for some treats.

I confess I didn't visit the cafe - just the farm shop itself. I've been here twice (through necessity) in the last couple of weeks and found the service officious and surly, and the prices RIDICULOUSLY expensive. £4.73 for a little packet of sugar snap peas and two small courgettes.. The sugar snaps were £1.99 so by my reckoning that's £2.74 for the courgettes - and these were not big by any stretch of the imagination. For a moment I thought I must be in Harrods or Fortnum & Mason. I can't even say anything was of particularly good quality. My guess is I could have gone to somewhere like Aldi or Morrisons (had time allowed) and bought exactly the same items for less that £1.50. Add that to almost being spoken down to by the server (on both occasions) and there's only one result - poor review and I shan't be returning.

This place is lovely. Farm shop has lots of quality produce. Don’t eat meat but butcher section looked like it had lots of choice. Expensive but all farm shops are. Disabled parking. Fruit and veg good quality. Cafe quite big and not too crowded. Not many vegan options but hubby had tuna sandwich and I had a kids muesli with soya milk. Very nice. Not cheap but again. Farm shop prices. Unfortunately coffee tasted like instant and wasn’t nice but earl grey tea very nice. Would definitely recommend and will be back for sure.

Visited Moorhouse cafe over the years and although usually have scone and coffee type snack,we decided to order sandwiches. My wife chose cheese savoury and the ratio filling to bread was over the top. A huge amount of cheese savoury filling, which seemed to be coleslaw with cheese grated in to it and an enormous amount of mayo, she had to remove most of the filling.I had ham and peas pudding sandwich, which didn't have any relish and both sandwiches were on small tea plates with no embellishments (crisps, salad leaves) so the presentation was poor. The Staff are lovely and prices good.Hopefully next time we call we may just stick to the lovely cheese scones.

We visited several times over a couple of weeks we were visiting relatives. The shop is just what you want of a farm shop a quality butcher and fruit and veg either produced by the owners or bought in locally. The cafe was lovely , quality home produced food and cakes , especially the custard tart hits the best I have ever had. Finally the staff were amazing so friendly , warm and welcoming it made you feel like you were in your own lounge . It was also nice to see the owner in the shop and happy to stop and chat with customers. This is a great representation of what a farm Shop should be and we will definitely be back soon . Well done and thank you

Visited with friends and our children. Lovely enclosed play areas for the children to enjoy, they all enjoyed themselves. They enjoyed seeing the animals aswell. Visited the farm shop which was well stocked and friendly staff serving. We also had lunch in the coffee shop, everything was lovely, homemade and tasty. Slightly on the pricier side but you expect that with a farm shop so that wasnt an issue at all. The only improvment could be with the service at the counter as it was slow and when you have hungry children in tow and other customers with children aswell it could maybe benefit from 2 staff members taking orders at busier times. We enjoyed our morning at the farmshop and will definitely be back again.

I called in for lunch with my mother and 12 year old son. We weren’t sure what they would be serving in the coffee shop following the pandemic. My son ordered pie, peas and gravy but he wasn’t keen on the pie of the day (corned beef). The cafe manager gave him a choice of alternatives from which he chose steak and potato. When he had finished his meal he went over to the manger and thanked her and said the pie was amazing. I had an excellent pork, stuffing and apple sauce sandwich and my mother had a filling lentil and vegetable soup. The cafe was very clean with the tables being thoroughly cleaned after each customer. We will be back on our next visit to Northumberland to see family.

First we walked through the shop which although was filled with local produce was very pricey and the staff behind the counters seemed as though they were looking to do or someone just asking questions about the food on offer. We went straight to the cafe, and stood looking at the menu again it was a bit pricey and my father made me laugh as some of the food was new to him and new to us. The young girl behind the counter was very helpful and we chose what to have, mum and dad ordered beefburgers and I stuck to the soup. The beefburgers looked very tasty and dad didn't complain which is unusual for him, and they were served with real chips!!! We enjoyed the food. Attended a lamb feeding session today at Moorehouse Farm which was just wonderful, all ages can take part as the lamb carers are very knowledgable about how the children and lambs will interact, I was attending with my granddaughter who is 20 months and she thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Older children can learn more and are able to spend more time simply because they don't loose interest as fast as the younger children. This close contact with farm animals is critical for a child's development and understanding and my granddaughter certainly enjoyed the experience she also enjoyed watching the pigs, chickens and goats, the play area was great as well. Following our lamb feeding we had lunch in the cafe, which was very tasty and good value. The farm shop is a must, we took home rib eye steaks which where absolutely perfect. Visited this restaurant again & just realised out of all our visits we had never rated & that was sacrilege considering it always rates high in our "Return" list.Well wife on holiday from work & myself taking a break from the cooking we decided to visit for lunch. We both ate off the "Specials" board & thoroughly enjoyed what we had. It was quite busy especially with two or three large family groups but tables etc were clean & food served piping hot. The food was again excellent but if I had only one complaint it was the Puff Pastry on my pie. Ian or Victoria please make it a bit thicker as when it is as thin as what it was it just explodes when you touch it & it becomes very embarrassing sitting next to a group of people who have just been sprayed with Rough Puff Pastry. Any way I was just left with a bowl of beautiful mince & carrot nice though it was. We finished off with a slice of top class cake & for the price charged thought that we had an excellent meal at good value. Except the paupers pie crust.Would I go again .... definately.Would I recommend ... definately.

A great little gem not far from home. Cafe is good quality, farm shop well stocked and staff nice and helpful. Great activities for kids, obviously in warmer weather. Our granddkids enjoyed seeing the animals and playing in the play area.

We stopped at this little gem just off the A1 on our way home. Lovely food including a lovely pea and ham soup with a cheese scone. All cakes looked yummy but we only sampled the chocolate cake. Would highly recommend as a stop off on the A1.

We call here a couple of times a year on our way down south, and have always been delighted. On our latest visit, I opted for the bacon sandwich, and my wife went for the frittata, both were beautifully presented and delicious, but the bacon sandwich was exceptional, easily the best I can remember ever having. It was so good I went into the shop and took 2 packs of bacon home with me. The quality here is the very best most of which is butchered on site from their own animals, and the fabulous cakes and quiches home baked. Staff are very pleasant and knowledgeable, all in all a well placed cafe in you are on the A1.

Came across this great little cafe by accident. Despite being very busy the service was excellent and the food delicious. After succulent fish and homemade chips we had cake your Granny would be proud of. A great selection. The farm shop was also worth a visit.

We chanced upon this place by accident when following a Services sign off the A1. After a very tasty lunch (I can recommend the Beef sandwich with onion and mushrooms), we had a quick scoot around the shop as we were off on a camping trip and this saved us a trip to the supermarket, Well, the steak we bought was the best we've eaten in years, the gunpowder sausages are delicious and the rest of the food we bought was also of a very high quality. So good was our visit that we changed our route home after our holiday so we could once again stock up again on their food items, especially the steak and sausages.

Having been to Northumberlandia and continued on our journey, felt the need for tea and a bite of lunch.Called in here and were amazed that this little gem exists. Good farm shop with a .range of very local products and tucked away behind a cafe, tea room.I needed food, my wife a scone. My Spanish omelette with salad and chunky fries was slendid, good salad excellent fries and a well filled and tasty Spanish omelette.Shame I had no room for a de,stretch, but such is life.I feel that a lot of the customers when I was there were locals, surely a good sign.

Despite being full the service and speed was good. Food was delicious. This is a simple meal place but very well done. The shop is well worth a visit as they have all sorts of unusual groceries.

Decided to call here on our way home from Morpeth.First visit to the actual coffee shop. The food was lovely. The home-made mince pie was an individual portion of mince topped with a light pastry lid. It was very tasty, as was the veg which accompanied it.The beef sandwich was lean and tasty, along with a nice pot of rington's tea.As it was a Friday, tha fish seemed very popular, it also looked nice, so may have to go back to try a fish dish!Bought a couple of scones from the farm shop, as they are consistently good. The staff are very friendly, would recommend.

Having first called in for coffee and cake with my husband, I was thrilled to find not only lovely produce, friendly staff and spacious inside and outside areas to relax. On arriving I was pleasantly surprised at the excellent park, outdoor sand pit with ride on tractors. This morning I visited with my two grandchildren, six and three where I noticed they have invested in more ride ons. After a while playing we went in and had coffee, which again was a welcoming experience then back out to a visit to the animalsI noticed the carry out coffees available as well which is an excellent idea.A real thumbs up for one satisfied Grandma and two tired children.

While travelling South down the A1 of 3yr old needed a toilet break so we came off at the sign for services and didn't fancy the Jet Garage for a snack so followed the sign to Moorhouse Farm Shop and we were really glad we did. The farm shop itself is lovely, full of good quality local produce and a well stocked butchery. We had drinks and cakes in the cafe which was very nice and the cakes were delicious. Our daughter then had a play in the playground before we got on our way. One to bookmark for next time, as this really is a hidden gem.

Decided to splash out and buy my sunday roast from here. Asked the young male counter assistant if he could recommmend a joint of beef for roasting. He seemed a little unsure so turned and asked another member of staff..response any of them!! turned his back and walked away..young lad was left to say .well eh brisket or silverside? Felt so sorry for him. How rude that your other member of staff did not offer any advice, ask any question or even do the basics of smiling. I wont be spending my well earned money coming back. Please teach your staff some basic customer service skills.

Found this place by accident when avoiding queues on the A1 - glad we did. Great value home cooked food and excellent service. Small childrens play area outside was perfect to let the kids run off some steam. Food in farm shop looked good, loads of local produce - we hope to return.

The bacon sarnies here are by far the best anywhere, and we always buy the bacon from the shop to take home! The soup is delicious, my aunt loves the egg custard tart (and she's very fussy about egg custard tarts!) the chips are real chip... everything served is absolutely delicious!! Lovely friendly staff would highly recommend this place to anyone!

Waiter gave us a menu and explained the process for ordering etc very promptly. Young lady behind the coffee bar took my order nicely and asked me to wait for the coffee for me to take to our table. No problem with that. However, whilst waiting, the initial girl and the other girl barista chatted very loudly, no rush to make my drinks. They were discussing a story between them and we're swearing f***ING loudly and persistently in front of me and other customers . Unaware this is not a great experience.

We heard that the Angel Inn had re-opened under new management, and that the pub had been given a make-over and were now doing really good food - so we thought we would go and check it out! We went along mid-afternoon on Thursday 25th January, 2024, the place is very clean, warm and welcoming, a nice, cosy and relaxed atmosphere. Louise the manager, who we took-to immediately, is so enthusiastic and passionate about running a good pub. They have a wide range of drinks and the menu although limited at present, is set to be extended, and they do Sunday lunch. The chef, an ex-army chef but with lots of civilian experience in restaurants too, is also passionate about providing great, home-made food. We very much liked the look of things, so we booked for Sunday lunch - we went along on Sunday 28th January - the food did not disappoint! We had a choice of beef, pork or chicken, or we could have some of each. The plate came out with the meat, Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes, roast potatoes, along with it came a large dish of vegetable and a gravy boat. As promised, everything was home-made, cooked from scratch and as we expected, totally delicious! Then came dessert, we all had treacle sponge with custard, but there was a choice of jam sponge, apple crumble or cheese-cake, - home made, and it too was delicious!, and all at a reasonable price - well worth it! We will be back - but we are also going to go along mid-week and check out their menu offers - they are going to be getting wine and drinks offers too - what more could you want! 👍😁.
