Moo Steakhouse in City of London, Westminster

My girlfriend booked a table for us at this restaurant for my birthday as we were in London for a few days to see Les Mis and the National Geographic photography exhibition. She received regular emails, even one on the morning of the reservation date stating that they were really looking forward to seeing us. Well we arrived 5 minutes before our reservation time to find the doors locked and no furniture inside. On asking a neighbouring landlord we were told that they closed down ages ago. Not good, not good at all. She was really upset as she had gone to great lengths to tailor a birthday weekend away for me.

In London on business and my usual steakhouse was closed. So ordered a £34 300g ribeye steak (medium-rare) with chips, sent to my hotel by Deliveroo. What I received was awful - as soon as I opened the box I could see it wasn't right, then I cut into it in search of edible meat. I would say that less than a quarter was edible - the rest was just fat and gristle with little bits of pink meat here and there (see photo).Chips were decent, but cold.

The service was terrible wait staff could not speak or understand sufficient English to deal with our order. I asked if the fish was grilled whole with head and tail she said yes then a very very small fish fillet arrived . When I said it wasn’t what I ordered she argued with me . I saw her talking to the kitchen staff who also looked annoyed . I ordered a virgin mojito which wasn’t on the menu , when we got the bill it was £12.50 ! The same price as an alcohol Mojito we said that couldn’t be right she said it was ! £12.50 for a glass of mint , sparkling water, lemonade with more ice than drink is outrageous! She had no service skills , no logic skills , no understanding skills. The meat on one of the fillet steaks was very very fatty and very very grizzly ! I don’t normally write negative reviews here , I just don’t go back , but this was appallingly bad !! There’s so much choice in London I would highly recommend don’t go here!!

Popped in for a pre-theatre meal, during happy hour so cocktails were half price. Restaurant clean and in a good location. Waitress was difficult to understand and didn’t really know what she was doing. Cocktails very watery. No rump or sirloin steaks available (so half of the cuts not on - including the daily special). We went for burgers and asked for them to be cooked medium rare. Waitress came back and said they could only be cooked well done, as the meat was cooked with egg. Now, for burgers to be only available well done this means the restaurant does not trust its own mince enough to cook it as anything less than. Big red flag.

Pre show meal. We picked this place at random as it was close to theatreland. We had a starter to share which was like a fantastic Cornish pasty and steaks for main course which were cooked to perfection. Thoroughly enjoyable and would come again.

Excellent food, beautiful place and very friendly and kind service. A friends of ours had his birthday and they surprised us with birthday crepe!

Empanadas and beef croquettes were excellent. Steaks and burgers were good. Service was slow and amateurish. The restaurant does not seem to have found itself in a way. Good enough food, but would not go again unless I heard some great word of mouth recommendations.

The food is so good. You have to try the beef brisket croquette?! Service by some of the staff is a bit off but everything else amazing.

Nice welcome when we our table was ready with a nice atmosphere. Ordered 200g & 300g Fillet steaks these were the best steaks I have had in a long time cooked to perfection Thank you

Lovely place to go to for dinner. They cook a mean steak, available in a variety of cuts and sizes. Wife's fillet was cooked to perfection and was melt-in-the-mouth. Stepdaughter and I had the burger which were also perfect and very tasty. Mushrooms in a mini skillet for me could have been warmer, but that was a minor thing. Nice vibe, industrial decor without being over the top. Staff friendly, efficient and accurate, although could have been slightly more attentive. Would definitely visit again, even if just to have the steak myself! Equidistant from four (!) Tube stations, so easy enough to find on Wardour Street.

Yesterday night we have been 2 couples in the restaurant. Very good atmosphere caused mainly by Sol. The steaks were real Argentine steak. We ordered Sirilon and ramp steaks , very tasety.

The restaurant is nice, beautiful, with good music and ambiance. The food is great, delicious empanadas, meats and desserts. The staff is really nice, but some of them looks a little disoriented when we asked for details about the menu, anyway we love every minute of our evening there so there’s ok for us. We have a great experience and we recommend this place 100%.

Visited Moo for the first time for a family birthday and was not disappointed. It is a vibrant atmosphere, cantina style and if you are looking for a quiet candlelit romantic meal this may not be the place. But the steak….oh my, they are good. Seriously, seriously good. Our group of 5 enjoyed a lovely mix of starters, and my favourite was the melted provolone. The wine list caters for all tastes and is reasonably priced. A look at the prices on the mains gave us a very short moment to think, but then you realise you are here for a good time not a long time….and in my short time I’ve eaten a lot of steak, but very few come up to the standard of my 300g fillet. Absolutely top class, it had never been near a freezer and it was cooked to perfection. The sides were generous and tasty as well. Service was friendly and timely and we had a brilliant time. A really nice touch was the chef coming out to see if we had enjoyed our meal, and for once it wasn’t just to tick a box. He genuinely cared. He did say that the success of the meal was down to the top class sourced food they bring in. I for one can’t argue and I have fallen in love with this restaurant. I’ll be dreaming of that steak…oh my it was good, I can’t wait to come back for more.

Unexpectedly great quality and very friendly and helpful staff! Had Gambia’s starter which didn’t look a lot when it arrived but some of the best prawns I’ve had! Really quality over quantity plates but leave you feeling very satisfied! Would definitely go back!

Pranzo con amici che vivono qui in questa steakhouse Argentina. Locale molto carino e curato, abbiamo mangiato dell’ottimo provolone, empanadas (discrete), ottime mollejas e poi una buona ribeye. Il tutto bevendo un ottimo El Enemigo. Servizio forse un po’ lento ma era il giorno del Pride e c’era abbastanza gente. Bravi!
