Very resonably priced food but did find the food over cooked and chips weren't fresh

Went in on 20th August 2024, was told that there was a 45minutes wait for food, this was at 12.45hrs I was told that there was no all day breakfast as they had been really busy that morning bearing in mind that they only opened at 12.00, after 40 minutes I went and asked how much longer our food would be to be told approx 15minutes I asked why it was taking so long when there was hardly anyone in and only 4 people eating, I was again told that they had been very busy that morning???? I went in again today 23rd August at 13.50hrs to be told that there would be a wait for food of 1.1/2 hours, I said why this time as this was the second time this week to be told that they had, had a delivery that morning, I can't think for the life of me what having a delivery should make to the delays of such a long time to have to wait for cooking, needless to say we didn't stop

Very poor bar service. Downloaded the app and ordered drinks. 15 minutes later went to the bar to find out where our drinks were. Ticket under the drip tray behind the bar and the response was ‘oh yes I knew about it, I’ll do it now’. Later on asked for rosè prosecco, given normal, (bottled so no issue to exchange) serious attitude by the bar staff regarding an exchange. Go elsewhere for food (thank goodness) call back for a drink, buy 2 large vodka diet cokes charged £10.35. Buy 2 more, this time it’s £11.50. Challenge the price and told the barman had given us 10% discount, asked why the first time but not the 2nd? Could give an answer. Why give certain customers/drinks a discount but not every time? Not impressed. Won’t be back

After being told by the staff "we must have missed" the three signs at the bar stating food wouldn't be served until 4pm. We waited till 4pm to order and the time magically changed to 5pm for food orders. Only popped in on route to Wolverhampton to see a friend who lives locally. Now enjoying a nice bite at the hungry horse.

Excellent staff! The food was really good too which was a surprise given my previous experience with GK outlets.

Despite England due to play and many tables booked The the staff were totally professional and calm. Our meal was delicious and although before the game had started the atmosphere was electric.

Excellent food very friendly staff lovely place to take your family

All I can say is - it's a good job I enjoy a glass of Pinot as that is all I got for lunch today - thank you for spoiling my birthday and wedding anniversary 😁 When ordering 2 meals my husband enquired about the chips being gluten free - which they were! He was asked if both meals needed to be GF and replied no just mine! His arrived and was very nice however when he had almost finished his I went to enquire about mine only to be told it hadn't been ordered!! Why ask if both meals were GF if he had only ordered 1!! I for one will not be back in a hurry (even though it was a very nice Pinot and probably would have had at least 1 more had the staff been more helpful!🤷

Great local pub. Food is always good. Garden is lovely. My mum was just about able to manoeuvre her mobility scooter in and out. The seniors menu could be a bit more visible.

Really nice pub. Only downfall they don’t really take bookings of bigger than 6.

Second time we have been here....yes it is a Greene and King, which have used previously. The food here is good, no comparison with the one's I have used in Cardiff! Portion size and taste of food for the money excellent Sarah who served our food was really friendly and an asset....upselling skills amazing but not pushy... definitely will be popping in again when we are out on the trike.

Our Thursday early evening 4/4/24 visit to The Monument, typically a lovely choice for dinner and drinks, left us profoundly disheartened due to a disappointing staff interaction. As locals who frequently indulge in the pub's offerings and enjoy its ambiance, our anticipation was high for a pleasant evening with our grandson. Opting to treat ourselves and avoid dishwashing duties, we settled at table 12, eager to enjoy our usual favourites. Initially, we placed our drink orders through the app at 18:03, a convenient feature that we really enjoy using as it means we don’t have to interrupt our conversation. After a considerable wait of about 15 minutes, we grew a little impatient. My partner ventured to the bar to enquire about the delay, only to be met with an unapologetic response blaming us for utilising the app instead of approaching the bar directly. Her indifferent attitude and lack of courtesy were very disappointing. Instead of acknowledging the inconvenience or offering an apology, we were met with the brusque assertion that we should have known better. Such disregard for customer service tarnished our experience at what is usually our cherished local. Feeling let down and disheartened, we opted to curtail our visit. Rather than indulging in our usual dessert selections and prolonging our stay with additional drinks, we promptly concluded our meal, which was delicious as usual, and departed. It's regrettable that a single staff member's demeanour could overshadow the otherwise enjoyable atmosphere of The Monument. Disappointed, we sought solace in the familiarity of our own home, where we have enjoyed a decadent cheesecake accompanied by ice cream and a few tins of beer procured from Tesco Express down the road. While our evening has taken an unexpected turn, it should serve as a reminder of the impact of customer service on the overall dining experience. This staff encounter at The Monument was marred by subpar service, casting a shadow over what is typically a much loved dining destination in our local community. It is our hope that the management takes note of such reviews and endeavours to uphold the standards of hospitality that patrons rightfully expect and deserve.

Popped in for a meal, the atmosphere was very welcoming, staff were helpful and friendly. The food was really nice, reasonable sized portions for the price.

We had our work Christmas dinner on 8/12. We were all so impressed with the food. We all enjoyed every course. Our waitress Karen was amazing too. Everything arrived on time and we felt so well looked after. A really good evening! Look forward to our next visit!

Good food cooked well, though you may have to wait at busy times. You might check first to see if an important football match is being broadcast live at the time of your visit. It will be very busy then and wait time for food will be extended. Even so, we were treated very well because we had pre booked a table the staff went out of their way to serve us as quickly as possible. The cost of the food was very reasonable and served piping hot.

Great pub cheap food, average priced beer but not the best options. Plenty of tvs so can’t complain

On holiday here and had to find a pub to eat. Had to sit outside as we had a dog with us . Food was good service we didn't have to wait too long. Over all ok.

I didn't have food this time only because I was meeting up with a friend. I can however comment on the staff and the ambience of the pub, both are excellent, friendly and welcoming.

Greene king pub!! Microwaved food

This is a pub that has it all. Great value food, a good selection of beers, all at competitive prices If you want a quiet corner, you can usually find one, if you want to watch sport... It's on ....... or if you want some live entertainment, then it's usually on at the weekends. Then there is the darts or the outside area that is well covered with a Big Screen.

Went in from work for something to eat roughly about 1.30pm.. Had chick n mix hubby had ultimate starter.. Food was absolutely fantastic..onion rings where nice n crispy fries where nice n tasty... Can't fault the food at all... Well done guys

Very disappointed Tuesday afternoon 30th May.. Called in for a steak...Only serving 2 x£11.49 meals Outside was a mess...floors and tables filthy..

Great spacious pub very deceptive from the outside but clean and very spacious inside. Staff were on the ball and drinks / food reasonably priced. Food was plentyful and well presented with staff smiling and helping the young ones where necessary. Cant praise enough the staff a credit to the establishment.

Booked a table after being recommended by a friend. I wasn’t disappointed, great value for money & although the pub was very busy the 2 lads behind the bar Kyle & Andrew seemed to have it all under control. Food was delicious and for the price you pay you can’t go wrong. Definitely recommend!

Seniors menu advertised on website, when it was asked for today the male behind the bar was extremely rude and said they stopped doing it ages ago. He then slammed the menu on the bar and walked off.

Family friendly pub, nice selection on menu, beers good. Could be defined as a bit sports bar-ish, but that said it wasn't over noisy when I was their with family.

Well, in terms of quality it's ok but the English don't have the same taste as us, when you order a steak and fries, you also have peas or beans in tomato sauce in your dish, I imagine that it's normal.

*UPDATE I have just received a call from the manager which I appreciate. I'm not sure anything will resolve the issues I have raised as staffing seems to be the prominent difficulty as well as an app system that is unfit for purpose. So it will be interesting to see if Greene King support their managers to help resolve the issues. Sadly this is the second negative experience we have had at The Monument in Hereford. The first was when we asked if we had asked to sit at a table that had been reserved for 7pm and the customer hadn't turned up by 7.50pm. The waitress removed the reserved sign and said it was fine to sit there. 5 minutes the customer arrived. We were told to move! Even though the other customer was 55 minutes late. The second disappointment was Christmas eve 2022. We used the app and the pub really wasn't that busy so we're confused when after 20 minutes our order still hadn't arrived. I asked the waitress who said they were just very busy. I watched three new people enter the pub be served and still no drinks. I approached the waitress again who said they are just clearing the bar! When I challenged this and said that could leave us sat there all night waiting for our order. When the manager brought the tray of drinks over, 40 minutes later. He said did you order through the app. When I said yes he just said be quicker to go to the bar! I did suggest closing the app if they were unable to manage it efficiently. Really disappointing service.

Friends have gone and been told to watch out for hot plate and the plate literally been stone cold. Waiting over an hour for food. Would not recommend. Owners don’t seem overly friendly towards staff.

Sunday lunch lovely loads of it and hot.

Food took an hour to come, all the steaks were over cooked. Charging £4 for orange juice and lemonade - out the carton and charging for a large lemonade when it was only a half pint. Won't be going there again.

Went here for a Birthday not been here in years even though i live close by. Nothing much can say really experience went well staff friendly was good.
