Just like to say a massive thank you to the team especially sonny the manager for all the great nights we’ve had the last few years it’s such a shame to see you go but until they end service food and drinks have been exceptional we will miss all of you good luck for your futures @nd an extra big thank you to sonny we will miss your cocktails xxx

Had a great mid-week meal. Food was well cooked and well presented. Service was EXCELLENT (thank you Sonny!). Turns out new owners plan to close it (last night July 15th 2023) which is a shame as it’s a lovely little venue and not had a bad meal here. Good luck to Sonny and the team in whatever come next, and thank for looking after us while it lasted

We visited last night as a group of friends and had a lovely time. The food, cocktails and service was brilliant! The manager and his staff were so friendly and attentive..would highly recommend!

We had such a lovely evening at Monty’s. The food and cocktails were amazing. Sonny was really great. So attentive and welcoming! All was reasonably priced for the quality and portion size as well. Would really recommend coming here for some of the best food and drinks in Portsmouth 😊

What a great place. Took our son back to his favourite restaurant for his 9th bday. Amazing food all round and mocktails for the boys. Sonny and Spencer couldn't have done any more to make this a brilliant evening. Thank you! We will be back!

Have been coming to this bar for drinks and cocktails for 18 months and it’s always a pleasure. A fantastic array of cocktails expertly made by the unforgettable bar manager Sonny. Have recently had Sunday lunch which was delicious, beautifully presented and value for money. If you’ve not done so would highly recommend you give this venue a try out for food.

What a great time, Sonny and the kitchen staff were amazing, The food is great,the lamb main is immense, the sauce I could just drink with bread it's amazing. The cocktails by Sonny are so good, nothing is too much trouble. It reminds me of Old Toms next door but with better food. Go early to get the best attention as it gets busy and is staff limited. Go enjoy I know we will again

First time visit won’t be the last . Came here to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary , Sonny served us and didn’t put a foot wrong with his brilliant service . The food was excellent and although the restaurant was quite there was still a great atmosphere

We had a family meal at Monty's on Wednesday. Sonny was very welcoming and friendly. The food was beautiful. Lovely atmosphere and decor inside. Will definitely recommend and revisit!

I came on a thursday for a few drinks. The live performer, Tilly, playing was fantastic and the barman Sonny made me feel welcome and made some genuinely novel and unique cocktails. Delicate yet delicious. Certainly looking like this will be a new haunt and I will be bringing family and friends soon

I just want to start off by saying how well we were received at Montys. Myself and my brother had booked a table for three for mothers day, the service was top notch, the food was delicious and there Mimosas were perfect. Will defo be visiting again even just to try the cocktails.

Food was lovely, good varied menu for a two-course brunch. Took my Mum for a Mother's Day treat and we both very much enjoyed our time. Portions were just right for us, too. Bottomless martinis were probably the best I've ever had! Lovely guys working here. Will definitely be back.

Great Location, Food was top notch. Just a shame we live so far away but will be back oh yes we will be back. The staff were knowledgeable, helpful & very willing. Our new favourite restaurant not only in Portsmouth but possibly anywhere. Not sure why it’s taken so long to find it !!!From the moment we walked in to the moment we left we were treated like we were the only customers. Staff are amazing. The food is so good . Steak was perfect. But the cocktails oh the cocktails. Out of this world. We will definitely be back . Superb

Very good food with friendly, personable staff. This is not fast food. There's a limited menu which always suggests freshly prepared, freshly cooked plates of food. And the highest compliment? They know how to makes martini.

We had our anniversary dinner at Monty’s and it was really lovely. Good and tasty food with great attentive service from Fabio. Would definitely recommend and will be re-visiting soon!

Its not often I will write a review on Trip Advisor which says it all about the evening. The staff were lovely and accommodating, the food was fantastic, I can highly recommend the scallops which were cooked to perfection with the parsnip puree. Everyone in the party enjoyed the meal. I was intrigued with the black pudding mashed potato with the Sloow cooked belly pork they were so tasty. I have never head of this combination before but it really worked. I will be trying to recreate this at home. At the end of the evening we wanted a coffee, unfortunately the coffee machine had broken,. however not to disappoint us they went to their sister restaurant about 100 metres down the road and brought us our coffees, nothing is too much trouble. Thank you for a fantastic evening we will be back on our next visit

We've been as a couple before and the food was fantastic so booked a table for 8 and it didn't disappoint. Great staff, lots of drinks to choose from and the food was lovely from the soup and spinach & filo parcel starters to the steak, lamp rump and chicken mains - all good quality and really tasty. Apparently the puds were good to! The menu isnt huge (not a bad thing) with enough variety that there was something for everyone (and what they do, they do well!) would recommend and will definitely be back. Thank you!

We recently booked Montys for my husbands 30th birthday celebrations for 22 of us. Fabio went above and beyond to make sure we all had the neat night! The food was amazing and the cocktails were brilliant! Would highly recommend for a big booking as it was so easy to have an evening all in one place!

Went in for a couple of cocktails. The barman was lovely and made great drinks! The interior was well decorated and the atmosphere was great.

We loved our breakfast at Monty's. They have an extensive breakfast/brunch menu so plenty of choice. We had the Chef's Brunch (poached eggs on a sort of ratatouile with potatoes and sausage - delicious!

We come along for a birthday celebration and we had the best time we could imagine. Drinks food and service absolutely incredible. I would recommend it to anyone around Portsmouth and southsea

Another great night in Montys for my brothers 40th birthday, we had a big table of 14 all food came out together. Looked after by Mr Fabio.

Great birthday meal in Monty’s last night. The steak was amazing but the Hoisin duck salad was the star of the show! The cocktails were fantastic as well.

Montys breakfasts...what can i say.....exceptional service. Friendly.....efficient and the star of the cafe was Amy. She was just amazing and if anyone is visiting the barbican in Plymouth...this is a "go to" place for breakfast.

The staff were attentive and friendly and the food was very well presented. The scallops and chirizo were good as a starter, however the two main courses , salmon and lamb shank were disappointing and lacking taste. The wine, Pinot, was of mediocre quality. For those who prefer to tip there is a ten percent service charge.In short we thought that the meal was overpriced and bland.

The bartender and hostess’ were so friendly and charming. Will defo be back, was more than happy with the quality of drinks as well- best night out in a while!

Recently visited for drinks with friends… it’s such a lovely place for drinks or food… Fabio is wonderful always make us feel so welcome and the cocktails are lovely! It has a great vibe and definitely a favourite of ours! Anyone who hasn’t been here I would highly recommend a visit!

The rating of 1 was for the waiting staff as they were attentive and lovely! Can’t give anything over zero for the food!Roast dinner for Father’s Day! Lamb shanks had been boiled to an inch of their life. White outside resembling an Amniotic sac, pink inside but tasteless with no seasoning or herbs ! Potatoes and Yorkshire pubs, obviously frozen! Carrots tasted of mud and inedible! £9.50 for a glass of wine which I wouldn’t mine paying if the food was good and the surroundings weren’t so tacky! I didn’t complain, what could they possibly do other than give us more substandard food! They need to up their game and taste what they are serving!

Had a fantastic meal. Food was delicious with a small but good menu to choose from. Service was superb. The rum cocktail was out of this world. Would certainly return if the opportunity arose.

Absolutely amazing time at montys. The food is delicious and worth every penny. The cocktails did not only look exquisite but tasted amazing. And the wonderful Fabio did a fantastic job serving and entertaining us. My friend had a wonderful birthday because of all the attention to detail. We stayed at a city centre hotel near the Barbican, but the breakfasts were poor, luckily we found Monty's with a great choice of tasty breakfasts offering good value for money. If you are planning to stay in Central Plymouth don't book breakfast at the hotel, go to Monty's instead.

Had a lovely meal and cocktails, really friendly staff. Fabio makes the best cocktails. Very covid safe. Whole meal was lovely and great value for money 3 courses £30.

Visited here for my birthday in september for bottomless brunch and it was fab. From the decor, atmosphere, service to the food and drink everything was spot on. I loved that they had an alternative to Prosecco on the bottomless brunch choice. Some sort of Elderflower cocktail which was very nice. Would defo visit again

Came here for my birthday and had the bottomless brunch. Such a lovely restaurant, love the deco. We had an hour and a half of unlimited Prosecco and a gin cocktail with 2 courses. The quality of food and service was great. Such friendly staff.

We visited Monty's with very high hopes but very left extremely disappointed. We order the scallops and the ham terrine to start. Whilst the terrine was tasty the scallops were bland and very small.I had the lamb rump for the main and whilst it was cooked perfectly the broth was weak and the vegetables were tasteless. My partner had the mushroom risotto (their favourite dish of all time). It came with a bizarre parmesan crisp tat looked and tasted like melted yellow lego pieces. The risotto it's self did not taste of mushroom and was inedible. Considering the price we were not happy and will not be rushing back anytime soon. If it hadn't been for the terrine, it would have been 1 star.

Went out for Dinner with my partner. Welcomed with warm and friendly faces. Staff were amazing. Didn’t wait long to be served. Food was amazing and will definitely be returning again. Would recommend to anyone.

Cocktail bar man is the best in town he is just amazing, no matter what the drink is he is great and will do it so very talented.

Fabio is an amazing restaurant Manager and immediately offered my group a drink upon arrival. We had pre-ordered for ease and truly everything was very very good. We hope to revisit very soon but in the meantime keep up the good work and thanks to your very talented Chef.

This was our first visit to Monty's after hearing good things about it we like to try lots of restraunts and have been to many but this has now become our new favourite though not very big it is tastefully decorated and ideal for all sorts of occasions it was our Anniversary and we went with another couple all four of us were very impressed the staff were really good they made our visit very pleasant and the food was exceptional the only thing I could add was the food could have been a bit hotter but it didn't disappoint in any way we thoroughly enjoyed our time there and can't wait to go back

First time visit and will definitely be coming back. A great little find. My wife and I booked in for Sunday roasts. I had the lamb, and she had the belly pork. We both thought that these were some of the best roast dinners we have ever had. A good, steady flow of customers throughout the afternoon, which is always a good sign. Would highly recommend.

Fabio welcomed us in for our booking of 7 split across two tables with a beaming smile and our first drink. We had all pre-ordered and the chilli prawns were lovely as was the soup my mother-in-law ordered. My fillet steak was superb, presented beautifully and the chips were hot and crispy. I followed with a gorgeous selection of cheeses which I shared with my brother-in-law as he had dessert envy, though his cheesecake looked very good. Thank you so much to the very talented Chef and to Fabio for giving my new sister-in-law Nikki and brother-in-law Dave such a lovely start to their new lives together - hope to be back on Boxing Day for another wonderful family occasion.

Visited for my birthday meal with my other half and it was amazing - then front of house member of staff was very attentive, and absolutely love. The food was amazing, and my husband said it was the best Lamb he's ever had. Cocktails were lovely too!

We went to Monty’s for a family meal to celebrate my 50th birthday the service was exceptional the quality of food was out of this world and the cocktails were to die for absolutely 100% would recommend this restaurant and we will certainly be going back very soon well worth the money , amazing quality of food, top-class restaurant and the tunes were banging

Visité para un brunch de Prosecco sin fondo para los cumpleaños de mis amigos. Lo pasé tan bien aquí, ambos miembros del personal estuvieron extremadamente atentos a rellenar los vasos y cuando descubrieron que eran los cumpleaños de mis amigos, ¡les dieron tragos gratis de tequila! La camarera fue extremadamente encantadora y fue muy servicial al darnos recomendaciones para planificar el resto del día.Obtienes un entrante y un plato principal incluidos con tu Prosecco sin fondo y nuestro grupo probó las bayas borrachas, el tartar de salmón y la terrina de jamón, que son muy recomendables. Para el plato principal comí huevos Monty's y mi amigo tenía el Camembert, así que compartimos. Obtienes un gran golpe de Camembert y los huevos Monty's estaban deliciosos.En general, recomendaría al 100% este lugar ya que tanto el servicio como la comida son de primera categoría.

Fuimos a almorzar con amigos el 12 de septiembre, Daniel y Chloe nos atendieron y fueron increíbles, siempre mantuvieron los vasos llenos y fueron increíbles, pagaron solo 30 por una comida de dos platos y Prosecco ilimitado por una hora y la mitad, definitivamente lo recomendaría?

Amo amo amo este lugar.El cóctel y el fabricante de cócteles increíble. Bebida perfecta antes de cenar.Tuve el bistec y mi compañero la lubina, ambos deliciosos.Disfruto yendo a restaurantes que no pertenecen a cadenas locales y este es mi favorito en Southsea.

Y para colmo tuve que pagar un "precio premium" de fin de año.Este es un restaurante que actúa como un micheln o una roseta y queda tan corto que duele. Deja de fingir y comienza a hacer bien las cosas básicas. Una vez más, toda mi experiencia se basa en el "evento" de Nochevieja y no podría estar más decepcionado.

Llegamos un viernes por la noche ajetreado, desafortunadamente solo vinimos a tomar algo, así que aún no hemos probado la comida, pero definitivamente volveremos para probarla, el barman Daniel estaba claramente muy ocupado cuando llegamos, pero estaba muy atento, salió del menú. y nos preparó algunos de los cócteles más increíbles que he tenido, Daniel fue increíble y definitivamente volveremos por algunos cócteles más.

Solicité filetes de tomahawk con anticipación ya que no estaban en el menú regular y montys amablemente lo organizó para nosotros (fue una sorpresa encantadora para mi hermano) excelentes cócteles y un personal amable y agradable.Nosotros definitivamente vamos a volverHe estado antes para el asado del domingo con mi familia que también estaba delicioso.

Very quiet night at Monty's due to present situation . However, service was cheery and food was delicious ~ well done chef!

Great food and service for our first Valentine’s Day, they even gave a rose at the end with the Bill. The only downside was I paid £10 deposit for Valentine’s Day and the total bill was £45 per person and then £5 for other drinks we ordered but I still ended up paying £95 so they never took the deposit off the end bill. So when advertising for valentine days at £45 per person what they actually mean is £50 per person. Didn’t noticed till I got home and didn’t take my bill with me to prove it. Otherwise they would of got full marks from me.

Beautiful food with unhurried service. Loved the lobster starter and the chocolate panna cotta was amazing. Lovely to meet the chef too which I think is a nice touch.

We were recommended to Montys because of a booking mix up at Giuseppes down the road. It was fantastic, right from the reception in the bar to the offer of a free drink (thanks Giuseppes ) we were looked after amazingly well. The Food was some of the best we've ever eaten. We had a steak night here for a mates birthday, I can honestly say it was amazing, we pre ordered tomahawk steaks and it was the best steak I’ve eaten. That’s a big statement as I’ve eaten in some of the uks best steak houses.

The steaks in this place is the best I’ve ever had. I have eaten in many high end steak houses and this simply tops any steak I have eaten. The service was great and the table set up to accommodate our group was fantastic. Definitely looking forward to another night here soon. Many thanks to to the chef and staff.

We were looking to book a restaurant for a large party of 18 for a birthday celebration, we were struggling to find a place that could accommodate such a large booking but then i spoke to Dan, the manager at Monty's. He reassured me that they could accommodate us all and would rearrange the seating of the restaurant for us. He was very helpful and he really put my mine at rest.On the evening of the celebration we arrived to find the dinning room was laid out beautifully and we all enjoyed cocktails in the bar before we sat at the table. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable, especially considering the size of the group. All meals were served at the same time and all were thoroughly enjoyed.The kitchen staff and service were a real credit and i can't thank them enough for the wonderful evening.

Visited on NYE for cocktails with some friends. Best pornstar martini ever! Cocktails a little pricey but worth it because the bar staff made our night fab and also brought us free shots over too! Must say, the French bartender definitely makes the best cocktails and it was a shame he left early in the evening. Overall would 100% recommend and will be visiting for food soon.

We were taken to Monty's whilst visiting a friend who lives in the area and as soon as we walked through the door we just knew it would be great. Welcoming, friendly, informative and enthusiastic staff. A tremendous gin selection for aperatifs and a wonderful menu. Our waitress was apologising because one of the dishes was finished. That's always a good sign to us as it shows it's all freshly made ! A lovely chat with the Chef afterwards who confirmed they use local produce and make it all fresh. Don't miss out, spoil yourselves and go.

Well I can honestly say that was one of the best meals we have ever had. Chris, the chef, never fails to deliver a wonderful menu, freshly made and a very personal service. Oleg, front of house, is fabulous, brilliant cocktail maker and service.

We booked for a bottomless brunch for a belated birthday for my friend. The staff were friendly and attentive, always keeping our glasses topped up and leaving the bottles of prosecco on the table so we didnt go thirsty lol! The food was tasty and you get a lot for your money. A very enjoyable fun brunch with friends.

Lovely evening with couple of friends. Menu was interesting and delicious. We all had different things : crab, woodpigeon and fig with goat's cheese starters with venison , sea bass and risotto to follow . All delicious - the risotto being a big hit with our part italian pal !

Wow! what a lovely surprise this was. A birthday treat from a family member for dinner for two on a mid-week deal. Arrived, to be welcomed by the lovely Lola, our front of house host for the evening. We were shown to our table in a small, but perfectly formed and intimate restaurant. We were given a bottle of water and as it was my husbands birthday, a cocktail of choice was offered...he went for a Tokyo iced Tea, it was delicious. From the A La Carte menu we had, crabmeat with ravioli of turnips, wood pigeon with carrot purée , mains - sea bass with smoked bacon with a side of Tuscan new potatoes with sage and rosemary, a fillet steak with triple cooked chips and was all cooked to perfection. We didn’t want it to end as so it didn’t. Chris, the head chef came and chatted with us. He was most engaging and extremely enthusiastic and passionate about his cooking and food in general. We have been most fortunate to have eaten at some very good restaurants around the world and felt that the level of cooking and presentation matched that of LimeWood and Angela Harnetts kitchen. It was superb! Chris has been inspired by both his mother and grandfather and his cooking and ideas have been executed very well. The coffee tequila panna cotta with salted caramel shortbread (grandfathers recipe) was the perfect dessert....creamy, salty and melt in the mouth scrumptious. My mouth is salivating as I type this.

We went mid week for my birthday, baby free and just me and my husband. A really friendly welcome by Lola. My husband had a starter (crab) which was presently lovely. He then had the sea bass which he couldn't stop complimenting with every mouthful. I had the fillet steak (medium rare) which was cooked to perfection. I was asked if I would like any sauce with the steak to which I questioned if there was any garlic sauce, Lola went to check straight away and came back to advise there was no garlic at all in the restaurant. This wasn't a problem at all as I really did appreciate the efforts made to meet my requests and it would have just been a bonus. As well as the amazing food, we were offered a glass of red or white wine to go with our meals. Instead of the usual cheap rubbish you'd expect with a complimentary glass of wine, it was a really lovely white wine.
