Prachee - Port Solent in Portsmouth

Visited tonight for first time, service was very good. Had small issue with one of our dishes but this was dealt with straight away with no fuss. Food its self was delicious and portion sizes were very good, ended up bringing home almost another meal!! Great night out in a lovely setting, will definitely go back.

This restaurant has to be the best I’ve ever been to. The food is absolutely amazing and the service is 10/10. Billy has always looked after us and is bloody amazing. And all the other staff are so friendly.

Everything was amazing, the service, our server was so good, very polite and attentive, the food was so tasty and full of flavor and the naan bread is the softest I've ever had, it all tasted so good. There is nothing I can complain about at all. I would Highly recommend you give this place a try

Sensational food and fabulous service

Just delicious! I had salmon and the portion was perfect and the taste was the best I've had. My kiwi mocktail was gorgeous too. Loved celebrating my friend's 40th birthday. Quiet in the restaurant on a Monday evening. Beautiful atmosphere and I really love the music played. Brilliant evening. We all loved our food.

My wife and I hosted three overnight visitors from Dorset on Saturday 22nd February 2025 - our first visit to Prachee - and everyone waxed lyrical about the entire evening. The service was superb, the atmosphere great and the food exceptional - one of our guests even remarked that it was in the top two Indian meals he'd had in years. Thank you - we WILL be back!

We had a meal on Friday 21st Feb 25. We have been before but not for a while. I must say the food was amazing lots of it and served very hot. Service was quick and staff were great. I highly recommend this Indian and we will be back soon.

As always, a brilliant meal with friendly staff. I’ve been meaning to leave a review for a while. We didn’t have a table booked but they accommodated us anyway. We went for an Indian last night (21st Feb), I had the Garlic Chilli chicken which was lovely and had a nice hot spiciness to it. One of us had the Dhansak, which we thought wouldn’t be that spicy but it was way too hot (our fault for not checking) so they took the price off the bill which they didn’t need to do and then they even made a mild one for us to take away with us, which again was brilliant and they didn’t have to do. Very good restaurant with very nice staff and a really good & passionate chef. Definitely recommend this place and will always go back.

If ever you are going to visit port Solent please DO NOT ignore this place,amazing service amazing food and great company definitely 100% recommended 👍👍

After revisiting your restaurant for 2 nd time would like to say thank you for your hospitality and fantastic food and service.

We only had time to grab a takeaway on the way to the ferry terminal. But, Prachee is worth the diversion. Tonight wasn't the first time we had done this, and the service and food were just as good as our first visit. They were even happy to cook a chicken dish suitable for our Goldie. He didn't leave any either! I would definitely recommend this restaurant and we will be going there again.

Had a takeaway this evening, which was absolutely excellent, all the family thoroughly enjoyed it. Quality , taste - amazing! Thank you You are now our go to!! X

I recently dined at what claims to be an Indian cuisine restaurant, but honestly, it was a disappointment from start to finish. The food lacked any discernible flavor, leaving me wondering if the chef had forgotten to season it altogether. I couldn't finish any of the dishes and ended up heading to another place just to satisfy my hunger. The only decent items were the salad served with the chicken chaat and the chocolates served after the meal. As for the biryani, it was lukewarm at best, making me suspect that it had been hastily reheated, possibly even sourced from a Tesco takeaway. I've frequented numerous Indian restaurants in the past, but this one easily ranks as the worst. Save your taste buds the agony and dine elsewhere. Not only was the food lackluster, but the experience was marred by insensitive comments from the staff. We left all the food untouched, a testament to its subpar quality. To add insult to injury, the staff had the audacity to explain away the dismal dishes by claiming it was "white people Indian food," which is not only offensive but also blatantly wrong. Good food transcends cultural boundaries, and this excuse only further highlights the restaurant's lack of authenticity and respect for its cuisine. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this establishment at all costs. Reply to the response by the owner: I am extremely disappointed by your response. It’s concerning to see a business respond to honest customer feedback with baseless accusations and hostility instead of taking constructive criticism on board. To clarify, I visited your restaurant during a weekend trip and shared an honest review based on my experience of poor-quality food, which was not fresh. Rather than addressing the issue, you’ve resorted to accusing me of fabricating my experience and even encouraging confrontational language. This kind of behavior speaks volumes about your approach to customer service. For the record, I have no personal vendetta against your establishment, nor do I know anyone else who has reviewed your restaurant. My review was solely based on the substandard food and service I received. Attacking customers who provide honest feedback will not improve the quality of your dishes or your reputation. I sincerely hope you reflect on how you handle feedback and strive to provide fresh, quality food in line with what you claim to represent. Here to celebrat my birthday with family and friends. Service 5* from the momwnt we entered. Food has to be best ive eaten in Portsmouth. Blue looked after the service at our table and hes is an asset to the place, nothi g too much for us including preping and bringing out my cake with candles. Wont be last visit here.

How modern Indian food should be. Lamb Dhansak tender, full of flavour. Sag paneer, cauliflower side to perfection. From the Bradford school. Recommend highly.

Amazing food service with a beautiful view. We were lucky enough to walk in with no booking. Had to wait just 10 minutes. Will be back .. The portion sizes are big so don't be afraid to ask for a container to take leftovers home.

Food was excellent again, we were a party of 5 but only ordered 4 mains and 4 starters to share with sides, portions are generous and we ended up taking about a quarter home in take out trays (too tasty to waste). My wife enjoyed the cocktails (mojito and a pina colada).

Mate this place is insane, the pina colada was the best I’ve had. The lamb shank Devine the dum biryani so fragrant with tender lamb and caramelised onions, the mix grill and prawn starters were so good. Would 💯 recommend for flavour lovers

Probably one of the best Indian meals we’ve ever eaten, also one of the most expensive but you get what you pay for, worth it for the location. Exceptional service and a shout out to Billy, so attentive and a credit to the Restaurant. Thank you.

One of my favourite indian restaurants in portsmouth

The best Indian restaurant in Portsmouth in my opinion. The food is cooked to a high standard, the lamb is cooked to perfection- tender and succulent, the garlic rice is to die for. The waiters/waitresses are quick, responsive and courteous. The price is you get what you pay for. A winner in my eyes.

We dined here on Saturday (May 11th). I can honestly say it was the best Indian restaurant I've ever experienced. The food was super fresh, extremely tasty and cooked to perfection. My wife chose a vegetarian dish which she loved and my daughter and son in law were so impressed with the food and service. I really don't mind paying a little more for great food and service. I have no hesitation in leaving a 5* review.

Best curry we have had in a while absolutely delicious, service was spot on and the waiter even cracked a joke at our friend having a korma (baby food) was really amusing. We got a lovely table with a beautiful view of the boats, really can't say enough about how much we enjoyed it. And yes your right we probably will be back next week haha thanks again.

We called for a few drinks to port solent and spotted this place tucked around the corner, we moved from Manchester (renowned for its curry mile) to Portsmouth 2 years ago and havnt found anywhere that compares in regards to a decent curry. Well this place smashed it outa the park!! The service was fab, price was great but the food…… is to die for! We had popadoms and chuntneys (really flavoursome) Onion barghies again packed with flavour, lamb balti (the lamb was cooked to perfection) the balti sauce was perfect! Other half had CTM and didn’t leave any of it. Pashwari naan and a couple of beers it was the best I’ve tasted since being down south, a huge 5* from us, it’s a shame it tucked away many people will miss out on this absolute belter WE WILL BE BACK!!

Surprisingly good. Our first visit, for a birthday celebration, and I was not expecting it to be as good as it was. My only negative is the pricing. The staff were good and attentive and the dishes tasty, especially the Naan breads. Overall, recommended.

Although the food was quite good, the service was very poor. We had to wait ages for our starters, and then they turned up with the mains . The place is extremely noisy, and so we found ourselves either shouting to each other or remaining silent.

Went here quite early 6/6.30 pm surprised at how busy it got so early , good sign . Food excellent, service OK at first , atmosphere ok for early evening. Service deteriorated after we had finished our food, once the plates had been cleared there was an obvious move to free up the table & shuffle us out the door. Pity up to then it was fine.

Wow, what a great place to eat! Emily greeted us on our arrival, giving our group of seven a very warm welcome Billy took our drinks order, and we settled down to make our choice from the extensive menu. Poppadoms and chutneys duly arrived, and then Billy returned to take our orders; 2 madras, 1 balti, 1 balti to madras heat, 1 jalfrezi, and 1 khorai (1 of our party unable to eat sadly). Mmmm, everything was brilliant and compliments on the food came from all of us. Sanya and Abdul made sure we were happy - We were very happy l!! - and Abdul kept the drinks coming when wanted. All the staff very attentive without being intrusive or pushy. Both were just happy to help. The decor and furnishings in Prachee have been tastefully done, contemporary with little nods to India (especially the Tuk Tuk); a really nice place to be. Stupidly, I forgot to take photos simply because I was having such a good time. Suffice to say that the food was beautifully presented and a joy to eat. We were all so impressed that we said we would be returning with our respective wives and partners. Probably the best food I have had outside of India. Cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you all for a memorable evening.

Came here with a large group for dinner. Food was delicious and lovely array of drinks including wine, beer and cocktails - all very good. Service was very good with constantly asking if we wanted more drinks. If you are a larger party I do recommend getting them to check what they have written down as we had several items missing when we asked them to do this. Overall a lovely day out

One of the Top 3 Indian meals I've ever had in 45 years and my wife was blown away by their Tandoori Chicken. Gotta try the lamb shank though. Perfectly cooked, uber-tasty meat infused in so many flavours. Staff were lovely and friendly and service was quick. Absolutely tip top!

Brilliant food and a great menu but service was poor- one person in particular was so rude to one of my friends it was laughable. The other staff were friendly and accommodating to dietary requests but sadly this didn’t make up for the rudeness we experienced.

First impression looks great and staff very accommodating. Popped to the Gary's and they were filthy. Ordered chicken tikka starter and was more like a rump steak with a rashioned 3 pieces. Main meal I ordered korma and rice and that was better although again the chicken tasted like it had been microwaved. The wine was nice and chilled but that's not really why I chose to eat there. Sorry guys but you need to step it up in a Premier area like that.

Lovely fresh food that is served in a timely manner with just the right amount of flair. The dishes are not swimming in ghee/grease like some other Indian establishments. I also had a Pina colada mocktail that was delicious. Can't wait to return to this Indian gem.

We booked a table for 10 and when we arrived, we were immediately asked if we still wanted 10 seats which in the event, we didn't as one of the party couldn't make it. Another was running late and before taking our drinks order, we were asked again if we still needed the setting - I didn't understand why they found this to be the most important thing? Anyway, we put our drinks orders in and the waiter asked as he was leaving whether we wanted poppadoms and being distracted by our toddlers, we agreed to them. Unfortunately, they came out as 2 each (including the kids) and cost £20! Don't be fooled by your friendly waiter! We asked for the food to be served together and it was served in 2 halves which was fine given how big our order was. The food was piping hot, the puri being very tasty. However, the Prachee Sizzler had an odd buttery taste to it and was very salty. Others had the madras which was also salty so we believe it's over salted in an attempt to get you to order more drinks. One drink had to be reordered after being forgotten despite being almost harassed for extra drinks orders. When the bill came, we wanted to split the bill according to who ate what but the drinks were lumped together under "drinks £60" so it was a faff going through the drinks menu to itemise it ourselves. Overall, I think the service was generally fine if a bit pushy. The food unfortunately was a bit salty. The atmosphere was lovely though, it's great sitting by the marina and having a beautiful sunset however it wouldn't be enough to persuade me to return and pay the expensive prices when there are many restaurants with better food at more reasonable prices.

Little gem of a restaurant, recommended to us by friends. I had the butter chicken which was, by far, the best butter chicken I've ever eaten. Beautifully presented, great size portion and just delicious. Will definitely go back and have already recommended to lots of people.

It's great food, nice location (unless it's busy then it's noisy) BUT... JUST CLEAN THE GENTS TOILET! The basin is caked in calcium and it's grotty everywhere. People do notice, It's a five minute job and it HAS been said before... You just can't be bothered. I assume/hope you take more care of the kitchen. Go and look and tell me I'm wrong...😵‍💫

Very pleased with the starter, however my Chicken Tikka madras was the worst I have had. It was like a Chinese Chicken curry with Spice. £15 for something so basic as a Madras.
