Great food. I think they over booked last time we went as they didn't seem to know where to sit us. Plenty of parking. The only thing missing is a big beer garden as the one they have feels like you're sat in the carpark.

One of the best meals we have had for a long time, and we do eat out quite often. We went to the Wortley arms for the first time since it has changed hands. It was absolutely amazing! I had the rump of lamb which came with fondant potatoes (they were unreal) and tenderstem broccoli. My husband had the lamb kofta burger which came with chips. Then we both had the special white chocolate cheesecake, that was also to die for. It was that good we booked to return for Sunday lunch today, cannot wait! Great service and lovely atmosphere. All in all fantastic place.

Visited Wortley Arms for the first time today and we had a fabulous Sunday lunch. The beef was cooked to absolute perfection and was really tasty too. My husband had the vegan cottage pie which he also enjoyed. The mains came with lots of veggies, including cauliflower cheese. Starters and desserts were very good and I love that they have classics like trifle and sticky toffee pudding. Service was timely and very natural and friendly. Just be aware that the portions are quite large (the lunches are incredibly good value) and you need cash to tip. We'll definitely return, especially as I think they have a specials board on other days.

would not recommend for saturday night out closes at 2200 tried to order another bottle of wine at 0950 to be told that we could but the place shuts at 2200. dissappointed as the night was young . prior to this when we first arrived at 7 and didnt order straight away as we were talking ( ordered wine) we were told that we could nt order because the kitchen was over run with orders 🤷♀️ never ever been told before in a restaurant that we couldnt order x but we were fine with that and let it go x our party of 5 spent £240 x the food was ok x not brilliant for the price x we complained at the end of our meal disappointed that it shut so early and we felt unwelcome to a have a further bottle of wine x the owners a man and woman told us that we did not under stand hospitality and that basicslly tgey didnt care what we thought and that we were welcome to complain on trip advisor ‘ no apology no understanding x they just wanted us out ! we only wanted one more bottle of wine and we d probs been finished by 2230 x but they didnt care x ive been going to this pub for over 20 years x the food has always been good but never have i felt so unwelcome and been virtually kicked out at 2200 on a sturday night x i will not return x the new owners are unwelcoming and rude and do not care about their customers ! not sure they understand the meaning of the word hospitable that they preach! obviously very angry with the way the hospitality trade has diminished understandable so x however it is not the fault of the customer that is there wishing only to have/ buy another bottle of wine and stay an extra half an hour x

We had an absolutely amazing meal at the Wortley arms. The Sunday lunch was excellent, the meat (pork and beef) were both cooked very well, and the selection of veg was great and more than enough for two. In terms of the venue, it has great decor and is located in a great village. The staff were all friendly and went over and above to make us welcome. I would recommend a visit to anyone in the area and we will be coming back.

We have been coming to this pub for longer than I care to remember. It was always good. Jamie was a talent. It has now changed hands, and I feel totally deflated after our visit this evening. I ordered a 10oz ribeye steak from the specials board; £28 looked good value. The problem was it was quite the worst steak I have had in several years. I pointed this out to the waitress when she collected our plates. She said "I should have said something earlier." I would have, if they had checked during the meal if everything was OK! A quick way to destroy a reputation!

We have been coming to Wortley Arms for over 8 years with the lovely Jamie and after hearing Jamie was leaving we were incredibly sad - he ran that place amazingly and the food was always to die for. We finally booked in to now ‘Mcgilverarys’ Wortley Arms to be incredibly disappointed. We arrived 5/10 minutes late struggling to park to be then seated at the other side where the dogs can go after stating it was a special occasion which was absolutely fine but alittle disappointing as it just seen chaotic in this side. We sat down and eventually got asked if we wanted drinks, we were disappointed that the local drafts that Jamie used to get from Bradfield were no more. We then got asked by a young blonde waitress that we might need to move due to sitting us in the wrong place.. we had be sat here for 20 minutes now waiting for our order to be taken. They went backwards and forwards deciding if we were to be moved or not… we were already thinking this is a shambles before even ordering .. all the staff seemed like it was there first day. We then got approached by the same young blonde girl to tell us that a party of 50 upstairs is ordering first now because we were late and we would have to wait after them. I couldn’t believe my ears. So your telling me a table of 2 now needs to wait after a table of 50 have ordered when we have now been sat here for 30 minutes. Her excuse was being.. we were ‘late’. I argued we had been sat here for 30 minutes whilst your all rushing around deciding if to move us or not. This was insane. I ended up debating with this girl how ridiculous this was. I asked how long is it going to take before we get our roast.. debating whether to just walk out. A more managerial women then approached us and asked us for our order finally. She didn’t have any paper and was trying to remember our order.. she looked like her mind was in another place. The customer service was atrocious. Finally our food came and we felt so deflated. The roast wasn’t hot, we had to ask for more gravy because it looked like they were scrimping. The roasties were burnt and it was truly disappointing. I felt so sad knowing this was our local and it’s now turned into a circus. After 8 years, we will absolutely not be returning and I’ll be spreading the world that a lovely family run business as turned in to a ‘chained’ unexperienced circus’.

Recent full refit and very nicely done too. Lovely country pub. Bar staff and owners are lovely people . Apparently breakfast is served on certain days from 9 or 10am to 3pm but i havent as yet tried it. Benches and tables are available outside. I couldnt see any ashtrays though. Parking is available but be careful accessing the carpark due to it being on a 90° corner . There is however access on a straighter stretch of the road via the wortey mens club . Food was 8/10 due to poor yorkshire puddings which were a little doughy . There is a function room upstairs for parties etc. Its located close to wortley hall which is a place worth visiting. Quite a few cyclists in the area so be aware. A handy post office with lots of stock is located just around the corner.

The pub itself is nice. The staff were pleasant. The gluten free fish and chips were genuinely the worst I've ever eaten, with no hyperbole. The chips, mushy peas and fish were nice. The batter had the weirdest taste. Acrid, almost chemical. Nearest I can get in my mind is the taste of washing up liquid. My wife said "This may be the worst meal I've ever had out. I've had underseasoned, overseasoned, undercooked, overcooked, but nothing that made me consider for a brief moment that I could be being poisoned." We settled on that it was just the batter, scraped it off and ate the rest. We discussed this with the waitress. She went to the kitchen and spoke with the chef. They apologised and said it was down to gluten free flour and soda water to make the batter. Now, I've been gluten free for about six years, and have made fish and chips with soda water, and know the taste of both soda water and gluten free flour. This was not it. I'm not sure whether this is teething issues as Mcgilvereys has only been open here a few months, but I won't be returning until I hear some good reviews from friends.

I was staying at The Worsley Cottage Guest House and the proprietors mentioned that The Wortley Arms had changed hands and mentioned that it was good. Well I wasn't disappointed. I was welcomed at the bar with a smiling face and a warm welcome. I inquired if they had a table for one and I was shown to my tablet, all in a professional manner. The menu is not vast which I like, as I always think that with a limited menu that the food will be of good quality and fresh, and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered the Derbyshire Pie. The pie was very tasty and the vegetables were hot and good. The whole experience was good, friendly and professional. Right, would I recommend and come again. A Definite YES. Visited Mcgilvery’s on opening weekend and they have done a great job uplifting the decor and making it homely and modern with a great use of space. It’s a great spot for a bite to eat and or a drink. We had a newborn baby and there was plenty of room for a pram also and we learned it was dog friendly so will be bringing the pooch next time. We were a party of 4 with newborn and all the plates were empty when we had brunch. All the food is of great quality and taste amazing especially the triple cooked chips. We payed around £14 per head with drinks which is great value for money considering the quality and the portions. A really lovely spot and we will be recommending to family and friends. Looking forward to the next visit.

Served very quickly with drinks at the table. Food was a little slow to arrive but it was worth the wait as it's obviously all freshly prepared. Fantastic Fish & Chips and Sausage & Mash. Ordered desserts and coffee. The coffee was served promptly but again we had to wait a while for the desserts but once more well worth waiting for. Jaffa cake cheesecake & ice-cream and Hazelnut parfait with fabulously tart red berries which was refreshing and a bit out of the ordinary. Generous portions for both main course and dessert. Rang ahead for lunch and friendly staff told us no need to book. We had a lovely table in the dog friendly lounge directly adjacent to the bar, with 2 excellent steaks, done perfectly authentically blue for mine, (which is a rarity nowadays with some kitchens) just before they closed for lunch. We were offered desserts too even though the kitchen had closed and had sticky toffee alongside Bakewell. Lady running the bar was accommodating both lounges and the bar by herself, and was always attentive and observant to the table despite juggling tables on both sides. Big bonus for us was the quiet table in the corner with dog friendly lounge. The pub itself it situated in the lovely small village with a really broad menu of not pub food basic, but a well presented selection, and is only a short drive from the various walks and scenery nearby, and a short stop off on the way through heading north or south on the M1. Really worth seeking out and definitely recommended. Thank you!

Called in for a drink after a walk with friends. We asked if we could borrow a couple of chairs from the reserved tables whilst no one was sitting their. We were bluntly refused with a "No!" From what looked to be the manager, who turned and walked away without a bye or leave, as if we had asked something rude. We often go to pubs after walks and most often some of us decide to have a meal. This won't happen at this miserable place. I will never go there again. Common curteousy goes a long way to keep a pub running, can't see this one surviving with such rude staff.

Nice surroundings but little cool on our visit heat wise. Excellent fish but potatoes used for chips not to our taste .

We came here for a family celebration. A fairly large group of 19, we were in a room away from the main room, which was really nice. Food was excellent and the staff were really lovely. Would definitely recommend here.

Came in for light brunch, the sourdough they serve here is so delicious, you can have it with VG spread, butter or jam. The service was lovely and so was the space. It was a relaxing break from being stuck out in the rain.
