A good late vibe/dance!! 👌 Welcomed by the locals and with a premium selection of drinks and Thee best music xx We have been with friends on so many nights out, when town is commercial, thi s us real!!!!

The place could do with some cleaning there was a bad smell as you enter inside it needs more ventilation. The music was great.

We d heard people say don't go but we went on a pub crawl amd popped in there, we ended up staying until the end dancing , good vibes everyone getting on good atmosphere!

Haven't been to Barry's in years and it hasn't changed usually that would be a bad thing but not here. Still has Red Stripe on tap and 50p pool. Managed to find him in a good mood too 😁

When it's the bar staff lady's are on the service is spot on with Sharon and Nats very good bar service and clean too food is tasty to fresh cooked everyday too

I am not sure why I like this place but I do. It has a unique ambience imbued with a certain je ne c’est quoi. If you enjoy the film The Harder They Come, you’d probably like this joint too.

We visited on a Wednesday quite early so we expected not many people would be about. A bit of a scrubby place to be honest. It's ok for a quick drink.

Called in the bar last night to see my old friend Baz, we have know him from the very first day he opened ( approx 22 years) . I was hungry, and asked if he could feed me, what you want he said, the usual rice and ox tail plus a couple of his famous patties, this was a takeaway, and it did not disappoint. I asked Barry to do me a batch of meat and veg patties ( for the freezer) always good to have in, it was a allways good to see him, and can't wait to go back and collect my order... Tomas

I discovered Barry's bar with my partner and daughter while visiting Sheffield and found it to be an absolute gem of a pub! Serves probably the best Jamaican food I have ever had! Absolutely delicious! Great pint too. Barry is super cool and friendly as we're the other patrons and we were made to feel very welcome. The bar itself was very comfortable with an authentic Jamaican vibe. Great tunes too! I'd highly recommend the place. lm really looking forward to my next visit. Much love:)

Went here on the 6/2/23, great little pub always wanted to visit and I’m glad I did great pint and welcome by the lady behind the bar. Pub was absolutely spotless and prices good too. Will be back again soon

Lovely place, cosy, warm and friendly and Barry is really warm and welcoming. Serves delicious Caribbean food and plays reggae music, if you want a nice relaxed vibe, Barry's bar is the one.

Called in sat evening very quiet but it was relatively early I would expect it to liven up later pint of red stripe and a Jamaican pattie was rather nice!

Great experience and nice to see a classic bar experience. Not a restaurant where you can buy a pint but a proper boozer. The landlord Barry is a top bloke. Looking forward to visiting again in the near future.

A review of a memory from many years ago. First up: the sign on the door saying "What you do here, what you see here, what you say here, when you leave here, let it stay here, or don't come back here." Good first impression (clear guidance flaunted in this review). Next: the family watching Poltergeist 2 on a telly in the corner of the bar. Now we're talking. Then, the jukebox - calypso/celtic crossover tunes like "No more beer / so severe" and "I want to dance with a big fatty woman". Capped off with serious pool playing in the back. The maddest bar I have been to in my life. Highly recommended.

Grubby little place, don't go here if you like to feel safe on a night out because the guys who go here are creepy

I will be more than happy to return and bring my friends with me. My phone was on its last legs till Barry furnished me with a charger. Kindness shown to strangers sets places apart.

Great! Barry made us feel really welcome like we'd dropped into his house for a meal. Home cooked chicken curry and rice and peas was excellent. Fried dumpling passable. Jerk chicken fantastic. Washed down with a glass of Ting.

I have known the owner for 20 years and supported him throughout any establishment that he tried to work. Not been there for 12 months until last Friday where I was met with complete disgust and because I made a complaint, I was immediately forced out of the door with Barry instructing and supporting security. Anyway I’m not heart broken just shocked that someone who you thought may be in your corner was all about the money and has no mind skills to hear a voice. Barry’s patties were always the worst I had ever tasted just didn’t have the heart to tell him Barry’s bar is a definitely No No

Love this spot has a bit a culture and history to it, Staff are really friendly and helpfull enjoy my pool games.

Barry's bar is a Jamaican bar run by Barry Great character always makes you welcome drink is redstripe and rum well mine is. But you can also get a good choice of anything to suit your tipple. Big TV screens on walls could do with a little of tlc but if you've ever been to Jamaica it's like home. Great pub to start at before going up road to Norooz.

Stopped off here on a Friday lunchtime. Opens at 1000 so we were well after that but it appeared half shut with the lighting (or lack thereof) standing out. Service was ok but my pint of Red Stripe certainly tasted like it had been sitting in the beer line for some time. Would like to try again on an evening as I can imagine the atmosphere would be a lot better but distinctly average is all I can rate for my visit....

Barry's Bay is a friendly place to go with fantastic music, drinks , food and good people. It's worth visiting

I met up with someone to discuss some potential business opportunity we both had parked up and looked around for somewhere we could have a chat. He spotted Barry’s Bar and suggested we go in for some food. He ordered the Jerk Chicken and I ordered the Mutton Curry. It arrived with a large bowl of Rice and Beans. Everything was spot on. Barry is such a laid back bloke, one of those people where nothing’s a problem. Thoroughly enjoyed myself and I’m looking forward to going back.

GOOD PUB WHEN GOING TO WATCH SHEFFIELD UNITED UTB

A friend and I visited today for lunch after making a booking following the purchase of a Groupon offer-£8 approx for a 2 course lunch/dinner for two. The booking process via telephone was a little strange but we arrived anyway and were met by the lovely Barry himself behind the bar. As we're not from the area we felt a little daunted initially, especially as the bar was empty on arrival however, Barry set up a table for us and after serving us drinks and allowing us to peruse the menu we opted for chicken curry. Within 15 minutes our starters arrived-a pretty standard mishmash of salad, plantain and warm seafood sticks. Rather strange we thought but the best was to come... After being served traditional Guinness Punch (which we'd never heard of before) along came our main courses-a large Pyrex dish containing a generous portion (which could've easily fed 4, let alone two!) of tender chicken on the bone on a delicious curry sauce. This came alongside a large bowl of rice and beans, dumplings and a dish of sweetcorn. All very tasty but the dumplings were a little stale and dry. As we couldn't finish it all Barry kindly provided us with takeaway boxes to take the remaining food home. Overall surprisingly good if a little daunting at first. Don't be put off by the immediate area or first impression of the bar as the food far outweighs the cons.

With all of the nice, pleasant, friendly bars and pubs in Sheffield, why anyone would choose to ignore them completely and go to Barry's instead is beyond me. It is on London Road, home of the fairly good pub The Cremorne, but I thought some change might be nice and so when I had friends visiting we decided to go here for a late drink instead. Their advertised closing time is 02:00 according to the sign outside the door, so we thought we would be fine going in shortly before midnight. Apparently not; when we entered the owners were sitting in the middle of the room on a table, with no one else there, and they seemed quite annoyed to have customers enter - to put it mildly. We went to have a look at their ale selection. There is none. Their beer selection consists of Carling or Carlsberg, and they are two for £5 - quite expensive given that most pubs in Sheffield charge about the same price for a drink that is actually pleasant and actually has something to taste. We each bought two, and went to sit down. One of my friends was slightly longer in paying, and when he got to the table he told us that the owner had just said to him "can you and your friends drink up and go becuase I want to close." Well then why are the advertised closing hours so late, if they want to close so early? The drinks weren't even in glasses, they were in bottles, so we just took them away and finished them outside The Cremorne before going there. What a pathetic bar this is, for the way we were treated and their owner's attitude towards customer service! I would not want to go back to drink their pig swill even if I was being paid to do so.

Top jamaican kitchen wont leave you wanting

Barry was very welcoming and had plenty of time to talk to us and our 4 yr old. The food was delicious, plentiful and reasonably priced. Will definitely go again.

...We're in Di Caribbean! Had lunch there having walked past lots of times before. The sound system was "proper". I dare you not to nod or dance, I double dare you. The food might have been served in a Pyrex bowl, but that made it even more "proper". We had mutton curry, and the oxtail, rice and peas (kidney beans not gungo) plus a beef pattie and bananas. Look, don't come here for a fancy night out, come here to close your eyes and be transported to that rough and ready rum bar you've always wanted to visit, somewhere dusty in Jamaica or the Bahamas. Oh, and don't leave sober, that wouldn't be " proper". Big up!

Pure niceness the love and unity place to meet and greet

They left me feeling unwelcome, unappreciated as a customer the staff were rude and accusatory. I would not recommend this place. I have not tried the food or drink as a consequence of the staff being rude to me but I'd advise you to stay clear.

This is the first time we used Barry's, Bar, and I'm sure we will be back. We had the chicken curry, mutton curry and oxtails, all were pretty good,, but our favourite was the oxtail. There was also plenty of rice accompanying each dish.

Called in Barrys bar today, so glad we did, we had curried mutton, curried chicken with rice & peas and it was gorgeous, very generous portions served in pyrex dishes for you to help yourself. We will definitely be visting again soon - you should try it, you just might like it.

Make sure you don't enter the raffle involving a surf board at this establishment.. As you will be waiting an eternity as it is never drawn and you will loose your money...then thrown out to boot for complaining...

This place is a unique, I don't know of any other Caribbean Jamaican themed reggae music type bars in Sheffield or know of many bars like this even up in the north of England really. barry's bar is set on London Road among the most multicultural part of Sheffield with loads of place's to try out like Turkish, Indian, Chinese, Arabian, Persian, Italian takeaways/restaurants and English style pubs too. If you don't want to have any food, you can certainly come for a great night out here at barry's bar like go karaoking, listen to some good reggae music. This place gets packed so get here early and have a great time. I like it in here feels like I am in Jamaica, with its got a great vibe and they have Dj's playing fantastic reggae music. Check this place out, It's a must visit place for reggae music lovers! The food looks good here mind you, I would personally choose to rather eat here in the day as at night it get's packed out for people enjoying the reggae music and karaoke. They even have a northern soul & ska night I need to check this night out, as I love northern soul music myself.
