Such a good quick lunch we had, food was good and the vibe was lovely.

If you like basic pub food and reasonable beer and not of that 'gastro pub' that personal I find repulsive it one of the better options around.

The pub which ticks all the boxes - food pretty good, beer pretty good, friendly staff, good buzz. It gets busy, but not packed, outdoors & indoors equally good. Music selection good and at the right volume. What's not to like?

Very welcoming, the food here is all freshly cooked, value for money, recommend the fish and chunky chips and the lamb flatbread 5 star.

Came in here for a swift one after a bit of footy down the park and this bloke just sat at my table looking at me like this 🥰. Good atmosphere, he was proper freaky like 😜. I like it in here it's alreyt. Could do with a fruit machine though tbf. Cheers xx

A great evening out and such a fantastic Sunday roast ( the 12 hours braised beef is amazing) celebrating my birthday with family. Totally recommend for atmosphere, value for money and friendly service 👌

Used to be a decent pub but now has been taken over by irresponsible middle class parents and their feral kids. Tea times resemble a creche with kids running around and babies and toddlers everywhere. Dont bother if you want a quiet pint. Its a shame, been drinking here for forty years, but there is always The Ball for normal alcohol drinking adults.

Just stopped for a quick non-alcoholic drink on a Saturday afternoon. Would visit again - very lovely place, looks good, service was friendly.

Held our wedding reception in the room upstairs, great food enjoyed by all, and staff all very helpful, especially Leah, who must’ve been exhausted from coming up and down stairs all day!

After visiting The Punch Bowl several times for meals and it always having lovely food and friendly service, we booked the upstairs function room (Lodge of Hope) for our wedding reception/evening as we had a fairly small number of guests. The Punch Bowl team have been brilliant and helped to make the day a success! Special shout out to Leah, who was fantastic with helping us coordinate our day - from organising the details/timings for our booking and choosing the food, through to setting up, the day itself and when we collected our decorations the next day, Leah and the team were always on hand to answer any questions and help wherever they could and it all went so smoothly! The bar manager (didn’t get his name!) was also really helpful. The function room was great, food was delicious and our guests let us know they really enjoyed it too. Thank you for helping to make our wedding day special!

Went on the off chance they had a free table for Sunday lunch. The bar area is for walk ins and the restaurant area is for bookings. Really pleased we went. Good food, good portions, good atmosphere. Would happily go back 😄

A fantastic Sunday lunch simply the best I’ve eaten out by far the 12 hour beef absolutely melted in my mouth the pork loin was amazing along with the half chicken and gunnies beef cheek so the family said all plates were eaten in fall the veg was fresh and cooked to perfection a must eat for Sundays x will have to try another day for mid week menu

Lasagne over cooked very dry and tough roast pork belly crackling like rubber gravy bland sorry very expensive not worth the money

*update in response to reply. We had already waited a long time (albeit reasonable in the circumstances given it was quiz night, and it would have taken some time again for a replacement). The fish should never had been served. Of course the food was not charged for as none of mine was touched. We are local and love this place...but...so, so, so disappointed in our food on what was supposed to be our 26th anniversary (and my wife said as much when booking). It's the first time ever (and I'm 53) that I've ever had to send food back having eaten nothing of what was called fish n chips placed in front of me. I think it may have been because it was busy (quiz night), but it was nearly cinders and as tough and as dry as a bone when delivered. So sad and ruined what ought to have been a special occasion. Sorry Punch Bowl, but true. To show there was zero hard feelings, I still tipped the service staff £10.

Average pub. Fairly traditional

A last minute change of plan brought us here. First visit and boy were we impressed. The staff are friendly and welcoming,knowledgeable and polite. The food is out of this world, their thick chips were massive and extremely tasty, mash was buttery and creamy. The pies are made with light crumbly pastry and generously filled. Everyone really must try there baileys cheesecake its second to none.

We absolutely love this pub! I'm a regular visitor and never disappointed! Visited for a coffee and cake, a pint mid dog walk, a drinking "session" with friends and a Sunday lunch with family. I'm never disappointed as its always a pleasure to visit. Staff are friendly. Food is hearty and consistently high quality. There are sometimes events in the car park and I'd love the see more of this to build on the community spirit in Crookes. Id really recommend this pub. Remember to book if visiting the restaurant during peak times!

Quite amazing Sunday lunch, we had the 3 meats and the Pork Loin really delicious and excellent value for money especially compared to some Carvery's where you get wafer thin slices and have to fill up on veg and roasts etc.

This has all the ingredients of a good pub. Great location, great beers, large amount of space. However, it's so overpriced versus the competition in the local area, it spoils it.

Small portions for Sunday roast, I got white cabbage and red cabbage and 2 small slices of chopped carrot and I was told this is just the portion size lol, no mash no seasonal vegetables, chewy fatty poor quality beef

Went to pick up Sunday roast for collection, got home and the beef was fatty and chewy , they put cinnamon in the cabbage (who would do that without letting customers know) it’s such a strong spice- ruined the dinner, a lot of money to waste to still be hungry, portions are not in line with what they charge, not spouts no carrots

Punchbowl is not just a pub, it's a great pub. Food was amazing, staff were on hand, beer was plentiful, price was crazy low.

Went for lunch on Tuesday, not busy at all. Service was all good. The food however wasn’t. Mushroom tart was literally just a pastry case with over cooked bland mushroom in, nothing like you would expect a tart to be. Dry as anything, well dry as the main… crispy beef shin was the leftovers from Sunday beef sliced and partially battered. Beef was dry and full of awful fat. A bit of salad and fries which was the best bit. Come on guys it’s not that hard to serve up half decent pub food.

Such lovely staff. The lady who served us with glasses was so so lovely and helpful! Lots of great vegetarian and vegan options which was refreshing. We paid separately but then realized after service wasn't added. Please accept our apologies. Was such a lovely start to the evening. Will definitely be back.

Only had a couple pints, both were nice. Bar staff were friendly. Spacious. Has an outdoor area.

Come back after 10 months, food really good, beer ran out and just put on a new barrel without leaving it to settle! Overall drinks could do with attention

Nice pub with large beer garden. IPAs about £5 a pint, I’m told the food is good. Tried the food today - soup, homity pie and fish’n chips all good. 😊 The pub is also dog friendly which is great.

Love the place. We had the room upstairs after the funeral. It’s got a little bar & toilets upstairs. Only thing is the stairs if you are not mobile or of limited mobility.

Good selection of beers, really tasty steak and ale pie

This is another good community pub. With a slightly different crowd than that of the other major pub on the road. Although some customers frequent both making it an excellent drinking and socializing pub as well as a meeting up place for local families. Very well kept beer, Good drafts and the usual continental range. Nice outside space to the side. ( Not so good for winter ) outside heating would bring them inline with the trend. Excellent parking space to the rear and easy drop off point at the front door for elderly relatives. All in all a decent pub which seems to be thriving. Friendly smart staff. GL aka GS

Bit spenny on drinks. Think the prices are risen to make the pledge card 20% normal price. Good music and atmosphere though. Cider and double whiskey ginger for £13.50.

Lovely visit to the Punchbowl for lunch. Food was really nice and a huge portion! We had the Mediterranean vegetable pasta from the lunch time menu, very accommodating to a allergy explaining all ingredients and changing the sauces. Prices are decent very quiet however we visited on a Friday lunch time. We will be visiting again.

Decent pub to start you off on your trek down Crookes. Has a beer garden to enjoy a drink outside between the rain showers! 😁 Nice seating areas inside with a selection of games to enjoy with friends during drinks.

Only had drinks but they have a reasonable selection of independent style beers plus a good selection of the mainstream stuff. Always seems a busy vibrant place but staff are very attentive and friendly. Not had food but it looks and smells good.

Decent food for a lunch time. We were sat outside and weren't brought sauces or cutlery and when I asked for some, were told we needed to go get a caddy from inside. It was a v quiet day, staff were stood around talking so felt this could have come with the food or fetched when I asked about it.

The title sums it up really... We booked several days in advance for a Sunday roast and when we arrived we were informed there were no roast potatoes.. Imagine if you arrived for a carbonara and there was no pasta A toad in the hole with no toad.. Seriously though,when did you start getting low on roast potatoes? Why not put a few more in the oven? There is a Sainsbury's 150 metres away that sells potatoes I could have brought my own if you'd let me know Just embarrassing really to be presented with this from a professional outfit... The rest of the experience was fine and the staff were lovely We'll ring in advance next time to check on the spud situation

Nice venue and food but don't look after their beer

A well-presented pub in a residential neighbourhood area of Sheffield. Went there a couple of times for a Sunday Roast and I have tried their beef, pork and lamb with the beef being my favourite. Standard amount of selection of beers and ales available on draught and cask. Very generous portions and decent taste when it comes to the roasts. Comfortable and spatious areas of seating. Close to the windows at the tables area there is a nice view beyond their car park looking down the hills of Sheffield.

Lovely place however if you like listening to dogs barking and being allowed to walk and sit on the seating , where people eat. The Manager came over talking to the owners and never asked them to get the dogs off the seating. I understand dogs are welcome however surely not to stand on seating that customers have to sit on.

Food was great yesterday and the Madri was the best pint in crooks

Good night out celebrating my friend's birthday. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was good though a little pricey.

Good pies and some real ales although a rather limited choice of these which appealed. Popular with the younger generation and lively. Effecient attentive staff.

Busy pub on the high street selling excellent real ale selection. Open plan but does have a dining area to the rear..but food served everywhere in the pub. Excellent Sunday roasts. Casta and Boothroyd shared Lamb Shank and Pork. Good trad vibe despite the open plan. Great real ale selection. Madge loves the True North Blond .. it sums up her spirit Good elevated wrap around beer garden. Opposite Two Sheds!

Best fish and chips I've had in a long time but the chips could have been cut thicker 😉. Proper mushy peas just like my grandma (from Barnsley) used to serve. Will be back for more very soon!

Always worth stopping off at. Good food. Good pints. Crookes is such a hard place to go because of all the great pubs. And this is one of them

I visit the Punch Bowl at least two or three times a month and it’s always a great evening. Brilliant selection of lagers and beers. On my most recent visit, I tried some of the bar nibbles menu and was pleasantly surprised. They also do some great food offers in the week, burger and pints etc, and it’s a reliable tasty dinner. If you’re on a pub crawl in Crookes, make sure you popping to the Punch Bowl.

Friends wanted to eat here so I thought I would give The Punchbowl another try. I checked the menu and there was food I could eat. At the pub I ordered the food and as we waited I was told they did not have the food I had ordered. No apology. I am sadden they cannot do ONE vegan main that's not boring burger and chips it a pie. My suggestion is to cross the road to Paesani. I won't be going to past times menu Punchbowl again.

Managed to book in here as the restaurant booking we had fell through. It was a bit noisy but by eck, the food more than made up for it. Lovely dark chips, great roast dinners etc. Very hearty food (we could not fit in any desserts!) and would definitely recommend. There is a loyalty scheme which you hand over your card and they take off the offers that are listed to you - well, that the plan. Nothing happened when i handed over my card and my enquiries to True North about this have brought about nowt so am not sure what this loyalty scheme is and how it works actually.

We came because we usually enjoy a drink up here. This occasion was not so good. Pints were as usual, can't complain with the ales. The cocktail of the week tasted like dishwater, with clumps of egg yolk at the bottom where it had been insufficiently frothed. We ordered the 3 for 10 'bar snacks'. The chips were bog standard. The padron peppers were fine. The chicken however was revolting. Undercooked, with rubbery skin. My friend actually vomited on himself because of the chicken. Evidence of his sweatshirt to prove it. Safe to say, despite previously liking it up here, I'll not be rushing back.

Overdone beef a d the veg wS overcooked and a mess on the plate. Iwill stick with the Walkley Cottage for a far better meal.

Great beer not had stones for years

Visited the restaurant area of the pub today with my family for Sunday lunch. The roast dinner was delicious - plenty of food and good value for money. The service was friendly and efficient. Will be visiting again!

Sunday roasts were all excellent. Lamb for me, pork for my daughter and nut roast for my wife. We always have a good experience here whenever we visit.

A really great, traditional pub. The food was really well made, service excellent. I had two starters as a main - asparagus and anchovy salad and chicken satay salad. Both delicious. Particularly liked the decor - and the fact that the tables were all full but nobody was on a mobile phone. Proper.

Always decent drink, food and atmosphere and importantly lots of staff, which is tough but important for hospitality businesses post-covid. Always a good night out and shows that is you get the formula right you will be busy!

Great local pub with a fantastic carvery on a Sunday. Two vegetarian options as well, which is rare but very much appreciated! Would absolutely recommend the nut roast.

Very nice ambient, we went for a Sunday Roast, the restaurant was fully booked but we found a table at the bar. The Sunday Roast itself was delicious and the portion was generous.

my favourite pub in crookes, the food is great and the pies in particular are so delicious! really lovely cocktails and a good selection of beers. staff are friendly and there are a few card/ board games to play! Usually very busy but that goes to show how great it is! Have been going for years and the last year the punch bowl has got even better!
