I have used Monsoon a few times and found good until recently. I phoned up to order a delivery. The person I spoke to was rude and the kitchen could no longer cater for my allergies. I was made to feel like they didn't want my custom.

Called various local Indian cuisines, spoke to monsoon, they didn’t hesitate to take time on giving us information regards delivery possibilities, we were lucky, they delivered to our holiday address. The flavours were strong and aromatic and the food expertly cooked. Thank you chef for not using a lot of salt or ghee. The delivery was fast and the service polite and friendly. I look forward to next month when the online ordering/payment service is launched and I will definitely use this restaurant as a takeaway again.

My husband and I went for a meal here in September. We had a wonderful meal, cooked fresh to order from the extensive menu. It was difficult to chose what to have and after advice from the lovely waiter we went with his recommendations. I have no doubt that all the choices are delicious as the smells from the kitchen were amazing! The naan bread was the best I've ever eaten and is made from scratch on site. Friendly and efficient service, and all at a reasonable price. We will definitely be back. Make sure you have a meal here 😁

In our so far fruitless search for a top notch curry house on the island we have tried the Monsoon twice now and I would say the food is average, neither bad or good but certainly nothing to write home about, on our part we will move on and try another one next. You can see in the photo that there are 3 wall mounted pictures hung together to create a scene but they have not been put up with any effort and all 3 hang at different heights and angles, we then checked other pics and found just about all were hanging slightly askew as if someone had come in late at night after a few bevvies, hung them willy nilly and nobody has noticed since or its been done on purpose as a sort of pop art scene but I doubt that. You can also see in the pic that the chairs all have cloth covers over them, white black, white black etc, looks ok until you see the grime (black) marks on them and the black marks are not small, its ingrained and whilst the black covers dont show any marks (for obvious reasons) they are undoubtedly the same, they badly need washing and thats why I used the heading of a womans touch, no woman would allow that but its completely ignored by the staff. The reasons I have mentioned this is that if the poor hanging of the pics and the really grimy chair covers are as they are then what other parts of the retaurant have fallen to one side which may not be in public view, yes indeed!

I can not rate their food, but their customer service is abysmal. Ordered a take away meal for our family as a special treat. Was told we would have a long wait (a little more than an hour), which being a Saturday night, we were okay with. After an hour and 50 minutes, my husband called and asked about our food, upon which he was told by the owner that it was on route and they had not gone that much over the time quoted. My husband disagreed and asked if we could have a discount. The conversation ended with the owner telling my husband to "stop harassing me you idiot" (for no real reason) and hanging up the phone. The food eventually arrived 2 hours after the order was placed. We subsequently refused it and will never order from there again.

This used to be an amazing place. However, I said used to. Over the last few years the standard has declined. You can accept a meal that is slightly off being great, put it down to experience and go again another time. This I have done for probably the last time. The quality of the ingredients has fallen and from that, there's no hope. They get busy on a Friday or Saturday evening, so the wait can be expected. But when the food comes and you're home by car within a few minutes, you expect it to be hot. It's all about the money they take and not the quality they serve. The only time they get animated is when scribbling down the food orders and thinking about the Pounds in their pockets. Having had food in these premises for nearly 30 years, it's time to stick with Ryde Tandoori and leave this one in the memory before the legacy is completely ruined.

Was really surprised to have not enjoyed this, started of well it was very quiet only two other tables and a take away service. starters were very over cooked i had duck but honestly couldn't tell what kind of meat it was and a mixed grill was so dry and both covered in onions. We tried to get attention of waiter but they were chatting very loudly to another table all night, We ordered drinks that never arrived and the main course was just meh. We did say something but we got a very ingenuous sorry. We left before finishing and waited outside for 20 mins in the cold for a taxi rather than stay inside, we would usually order dessert and coffee and possible extra drinks but as no one was interested in delivering the drinks we had already ordered seemed pointless so paid and went on our way. Was really surprised as this is not what we remembered from this place it was once vibrant and friendly, such a shame. A positive, the wine by the bottle was reasonably priced.

I was on my own, and it was only 8.00pm, and the restaurant was over two thirds empty, with just a few tables close to the window, and then a couple near the bar. The elderly owner (I presume) in traditional dress shuffled up to me and didn't smile, or engage in any conversation, but turned to his younger colleague, maybe his son. This man was more friendly, but I was sat almost in the corridor area, so the elderly man, crochety with all staff, seemingly, would shuffle back and forth giving orders, in front of me! I was given a free popadom by the younger man, but only two pickles! No mango chutney. I ordered a large Kingfisher and a main course, rice, and naan, too. I waited, and drank, and waited and drank and all the time take-away orders were going out, with the elderly man loudly instructing the English delivery man. This was fairly constant and in front of me the couple were also waiting for their meal and they and they had been in before me. Over at the window area the customers had their food, but not a lot of 'on the floor' seemed to be going on at all. I gave up after 40 minutes and went to the bar, where the younger man was still on the phone, presumably taking yet more take-away orders! I told him the restaurant was wrong to prioritise take-away food, and that I was not happy. I offered to pay for my drink, and he did not even say, ''Have it on the house, as an apology!'' I left, and the other couple were STILL waiting, too! Awful place! Rude owner, sloppy management, and the two young men, who seemed to struggle with any English, looked slovenly, too! I will never return to such a place, when its obvious they make money from constant take-away food, and those in the restaurant paying more, have to sit and wait, and wait, and wait! My advice: DO NOT GO!

Called up and they said "oh well, everyone makes mistakes" they offered to deliver it half hour later, no apology, a £3 refund when the guy turned up.....what £3 for a tikka masala???? Won't ever use again, bloody rude, arrogant and no concern for return local custom

The food and the ambience of Monsoon cannot be criticised at all and nor can the son of the owner (Sam) he is lovely HOWEVER as with many other reviews on trip advisor the old man (sams father) is rude to the customers and he is the only reason me, my friends and family do not eat at Monsoon.

Food cold. Surly superior waiter in team . Very little lamb in lamb samosas. Sloppy veg sides. Lamb biriani was good, but not the veg curry sauce with it. Ice cream afterwards took forever. Irritating loud doorbell chime sounded throughout the eve to signal food ready from kitchen. A simple silent light over kitchen door would have worked better for customers. Clean white tablecloths. Comfortable seating. Clean tableware. Parking outside free and good availability if you are early. I live locally. First time visit. All in all, would not visit again.

Waited outside for 10 minutes passed advertised opening times watching multiple staff walk around, finally knocked on door to ask when they were opening to be told that their advertised times are wrong and they are shut, FFS why would they not say anything and let us stand there? So dumb!!

Tried to make an order by phone twice and was told to wait, I did listening to money being taken and goodbyes being exchanged thinking he will speak to me any second now! Tick tick tick ........ after holding on 5 mins each time the phone was put down! Very rude indeed a shame really as sat in restaurant to eat and food is very good. Due to this experience I'm not sure if we are going to order food from here again.

We arrived here on a Wednesday and were offered a table. We asked about the deal but were told it wasn't on as it was the school holidays. I then asked for a menu to check if we could still afford it. When i worked out that we could we asked for a table. The young chap was about to seat us when an old man rudely said no, that they were fully booked. There was no way I was then going to give them my business for a takeaway so we went elsewhere. Walked past half an hour later and it was still half empty. I fe that they knew we were not so well off and thought we wouldn't spend loads in drinks. These people are stuck up there own backsides and don't deserve anyones business.

Had supper here early on a Saturday evening when we had visitors. I didn't have a booking but they managed to find us a table for 4. This has to be one of the best in Ryde. The food was really, really good and the service was second to none. The older gentleman was a delight and nothing was too much trouble for him. If you needed something he got it for you and he was a proper character. Please keep him!! We will definitely be back.

I have frequented this establishment on many occasions. I don't recall ever being disappointed. Wednesday and Sunday banquet evenings are exceptionally good value. The service is usually friendly and the staff were also happy to accommodate when we supplied a birthday cake for a family members birthday.

I called this restaurant at 7.30 on a Wednesday evening to inquire about home delivery. I was told by the gentleman who answered that they didn't provide that service. I then looked at their website and noted the they do do a home delivery service. I rang again and told the gentleman what I'd read on their site. I was met with a lot of anger and told in no uncertain terms to stop wasting his time. Then he hung up. I'll never eat out of that place again.

Monsoon is an excellent Indian restaurant tucked away at the top end of Ryde High Street - walk past the others and take the trouble to track down Monsoon! The food is freshly cooked from scratch, so takes a bit longer to be served, but the variety of flavours make it worth the wait. Also, every dish is not swimming in oil - a pet hate of mine!

With a week on holiday based in Ryde, and curry lovers we were keen to try this out. We originate from the North East of England in a town where there is a whole street of Indian Restaurants with loads of choice and good deals to be had so perhaps we were expecting a bit much.Being used to good deals we opted for the special set menu offer on Sundays and Wednesdays. We did wonder however if that was our downfall, as this had attracted a lot of custom and service was pretty slow. After receiving our drinks there was a long delay before someone came around again to take our order, we did wonder if we'd been forgotten about. The meals themselves were tasty and were of good value (especially considering we were in the South of England) but we felt the service was a bit lacking. There was a rushed, chaotic air to the restaurant. When our starters did eventually arrive they'd forgotten to provide any yoghurt sauce and were gone before we'd noticed. With the staff being in such a rush and looking so flustered we hadn't the heart to disturb them any more. For the main meal they'd also got one of our rice choices wrong, but again we were quite hungry by this point and felt it wasn't worth the hassle to point this out.We do feel the restaurant had maybe bitten off more they can chew by allowing so many bookings; but can understand on 'cheap' nights why they want to get so many through their doors. We did wonder in hindsight it may have been better to go for a normal night would have been like if we'd just gone for the a la carte menu.

After reading good reviews my partner & I ordered takeaway last night to the sum of £33. starter was nice but the rest was literally horrific. chicken korma and Tika masala were both nothing like what you would expect. mine was dark brown, not creamy, more like and oily muddy consistency with no real flavor other than overwhelming salt & spice (not even slightly resembling the mild creamy coconuty dish it should be). Tika Masala was again an oily muddy looking dark brown/red that mainly tasted of salt, salt, salt with tomato & spice. I've never thrown entire meals away before but they were not edible. I'm no food snob, ill eat last nights pizza but these meals were truly disgusting. I called to explain the situation and see if they could please send out 2 replacement mains but the response was 'the chef says he has never had complaints like this before'. I said i understand but we are still hungry, have paid for the meals that are inedible can you please send out replacements. we were told the driver was out on another delivery and it could take an hour, i said thats ok we have had the starter we can wait. apparently they were not happy to do this and the man on the phone just kept repeating that the chef says NO as he has never had this type of complaint before. i asked for a refund on the main meal they said NO. the only thing they could do was arrange 'some' discount when we next eat there, which why on earth would we go near the place again? my partner didn't even want the replacement meals fearing they would be the same, however i did not want to pay again somewhere else for a meal we had already bought !I very rarely write reviews and do not agree with spitefully ruining someone's business but the meal and the service we received last night was truly diabolical and i feel it only fair to warn others. To the owners... you must have customers lining up at the door every night to treat new custom they way you did last night, you ruined our evening, wasted our money and we ended up eating crisps and toast as it was too late to pop to the shops. i feel it is very short sighted and unprofessional of you to have treated us this way, the Island is as i am sure you know a very small place, we are locals and will be advising friends family to stir clear.

We ate here twice on a week long holiday with 2 other friends. The first night we loved the food but we were a bit concerned (having had a few drinks!) that it might not live up to how we remembered it the second time. Fortunately it did, the second meal was even nicer. My partner and I are veggie so tend to share 2 mains, a side and naan/rice. I would HIGHLY recommend the vegetable tandoori dish, I wish I could remember what it was called, it's not on the takeaway menu so to enjoy it you have to eat in the restaurant. The flavours were incredible and the size was very generous. We couldn't eat it all and they were very nice to put it in foil so we could take it with us (I couldn't bare to see it go to waste!). It has a 25 minute wait, it is well worth it.The ambiance is fine, we sat by the window both times which is nice and you get to watch the passers by. The waiters are attentive and nice.We would return, already know what we'd order!

Went in with family and friends on a Sunday evening for a meal or so I thought. First course came quickly enough but after two hours and no sign of the main course decided to call it a night. Manager was a rather arrogant person completly focused on the takeaway side of the business at the cost to restaurant side. At least another member resolved the issueto our satisfaction. Overall it is place I will be avoiding.

We found this place by using TripAdvisor - it is a few blocks away from the main up and down street of Ryde but well worth the walk. It is a family run restaurant where the patriarch still runs the show - service was quick and attentive. While we were there early on a Wednesday night, place already busy with large take away. We opted for the £10 Wednesday special (also offered on Sundays). The food was hot, great tasting and very filling. Good value if you are on a budget.

We were a party of 11 here for the island Randonnee cycle and got a take away for all the hungry cyclists which couldn't have gone better. From the phone order to the livery man, service was friendly and quick given the size of the order with free poppadums and dips and salad thrown in. The food itself was fantastic - I didn't hear any complaints anyway! I can speak for the lamb saagwalla, tarka dal, okra side dish and garlic naan, all lovely. The aubergine side had great flavour but was on the oily side. I could have give or taken the king prawn biryani, it was quite average. Overall, great food and service, really pleased with our choice and would definitely order again.

Expensive takeaway of average quality. Food & Hygiene Rating 2!! Only saw this when I went to collect the food, if I knew that I would have avoided. Avoid the onion bhaji it was like eating fried hay. The chicken chat puri was a tika version with a very sad looking and unappetising salad. The best dish was the Lamb jalfresi which tasted very nice. The Nans were of a good size and cooked well. Having lived in India and Nepal I’m used to making my own curries, but I was tired and thought I’d treat myself. Prices were steep for an Indian takeaway compared to London but I thought judging by the area of Seaview the food quality would also reflect the prices, not so. Glad that I didn’t eat inside, there is no atmosphere at all whatsoever and no one in sight, very strange.

What a great Indian Restaurant ! Meant to write a review after visiting 4 months ago but circumstances took over. We are on a mission to dine at every Indian restaurant on the Island, rate and review them, so far 10 down and this ranks right up there with the best, on our scale coming in at a 9.5. Visited on a Wednesday night and surprised to see the place comfortably busy for October! Both the Staff are very knowledgeable and welcoming with a real desire to make sure you have an enjoyable night. Our meals: Crisp fresh poppadoms and chutneys, accompanied 2 very tasty Tandoori lamb chops for a starter, the obligatory bottle of Cobra to wash our meals down with. The mains: Naga chilli lamb (absolutely lovely, succulent and plenty of it with a great sauce and not all heat over taste , Chicken Madras again really good portion size plenty of juicy Chicken , Basmati rice, Saag Paneer perfect foil to the heat of the curries) and Cauliflower Bhaji (had a kick to it). Whilst still on our mission, we will be back again as could not really fault it.Well Done Eastern eye
