Monkfield Arms Cambourne in South Cambridgeshire

As this is my local, I have to state that I am biased towards my review. However, I continue to say how good value for money and excellent all the staff are. I say this as I observe the staff interactions with other customers and it is always excellent with wonderful banter but with service foremost. Chrissy is happy to chat away when waitressing ,which is lovely, as are all the bar staff, even when busy. Over the years I have seen the standard and portions of food go up and down. Now is definitely an up and things are looking good. I would always recommend the Monkfield good value for money and excellent staff.

Had my first veterans breakfast in the Monkfield Arms today and it was brilliant and a good price. I can’t fault the service not welcome we got by the staff and new manager. I will certainly be using this pub more as a Cambourne resident.

Came here for a family meal and I have absolutely no complaints!! Food was tasty and hot, and staff were brilliant (especially Greta!!!) Nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back here soon!

Loved the chicken burger specially the gravy dip-dip. Hmmm yummy for my tummy. Food arrived quickly and staff was very friendly. Big hug for the giant Santa🎅

Very disappointing on our first visit. Service was extremely slow with a wait of 1 hour for our meal to arrive (1 course). There were few wait staff and, we guess, even fewer in the kitchen!! On ordering, we were told an item was not available, but as we were finishing our meal, the neighbouring table was served with this same menu choice!! We shall not be returning, and can certainly not recommend this pub, There were glib answers to our enquiries & the staff were clearly out of their depth in coping with these unexplained delays.

Good selection of draught/bottled beer and cider. Food availability is hit and miss at best, a lot of times we have been they have sold out of the majority of the menu or closed early. Potentially the kitchen cannot keep up with the demand as it is an extremely busy pub. The clientele is varied, with a lot of rough and rowdy people attending each night making for a raucous atmosphere. No sky sports available, only TNT. Food is good value for money when available. Draught lager and Guinness is good quality and good value for the local area.

This was a lovely spot for a fun eat out with family, the food was absolutely delicious and good service. I will definitely be coming again.

First time here in several years, and not a lot has changed. It's a family pub and very noisy had a job hearing each other we first looked at sitting in the quarter area but the exterior was continually being left open and it aas very cold. Staff at the bar very were friendly and welcoming. We ordered 2 mixed grills and a gammon steak. Basically the food was OK except for the steak with the mixed grills we were asked how we wanted them done, which was both medium but both were over cooked and they couldn't be eaten the rest were fine. Don't know if we would go back.

I`d recommend a visit to anyone for a meal, even when there`s no games on, but when we went the atmosphere was certainly lively for a local pub! Friendly locals & bar staff made for a great evening, & the food was pretty nice as well.

Was seeing a mate who lives in local area, we popped out for a few beers and found the service and team extremely friendly! Beers was great with a lot of options.

Visiting Uk from Spain as I love Cambridge, decided to venture into Cambourne and ended up at the Monkfield Arms. What a lovely surprise , welcoming staff, great food and a good selection of drinks. Definitely be back next time I visit. The manager shona was lovely and really helpful.

The food was really good .staff were friendly and attentive. But a group of men were very loud. Continuous swearing including the C word. Young children present. At no time did the staff intervene Came out with a blinding headache. Couldn't wait to leave

Asked whether we needed to book and was advised no just need to find a table which wasn't reserved and that there was a wait on food which was fine. Sat down at a table and decided on our meals. Went to order and was told that they weren't taking anymore food orders. Would've been fine if they said this when we entered but disappointed when we were turned away after having been told by another member of staff it was fine and spending our time looking at the menu.

Came in on Sunday great vibe food was great taste and lovely and hot new manager has done brilliant job of sorting the ride customers and is creating a lovely family venue

Lovely place for the family to have lunch. Great service and friendly staff with a large choice of meals and deals on offer. I really enjoyed the games for the kids and atmosphere was so welcoming. Would definitely return again.

This is a great place to catch up with friends. Met my friend this evening for a drink after work. Sharing a bottle of wine great value for money. The atmosphere was amazing and the pub looked busy and bustling with families and friends

I’m absolutely disgusted by how the guy with the tattoos was speaking to a young boy who works here, it made me feel uncomfortable and was not on he clearly was a higher member of staff and needs to learn how to speak to people I wouldn’t have this if I was the manager! The young boy was working really hard and was really polite! He looked really upset, this is bulking in the workplace and if I return I will be saying something if this happens again!!

We were travelling through the area and have stayed & eaten at a number of Marsdens pubs. Staying in our microcampervan, by permission. The menu is safe and regular to this franchise. But The Monkfield arms in Cambourne provided me the best quality Scampi & chips that I have ever had. And I've had a lot in my time. Accommodated us with a dog friendly table. Praise where it is due. Went to meet friends and had some snack foods. They were delicious, well presented and came out so quick. The new chef made the food look amazing. The atmosphere of the pub was lovely. We played a few games of darts in the sports area of the pub amd they had the football on which was great. Overall an perfect evening out

We met with friends for a meal. We have eaten here twice before and had no problems. On this occasion I had to send my meal back twice and in the end received a full refund. My food was sent out cold the first time. Second time my steak wasn’t cooked properly. Very disappointed and we won’t be returning.

The roast dinner was absolutely amazing, it was full of flavour, lovely and hot, portion size was perfect. Was a perfect Sunday lunch.

Once again an excellent meal and wonderful staff. I normally have the fish and chip and for the size of the fish you just cannot go wrong. It’s a challenge to eat and is just delicious. The staff are really nice, Gemma ask me any question about Harry Potter, and Kim who is polite and friendly, really go out of their way to be helpful. Good food and service. It’s what a pub is all about.

It was so cold we had to keep our coats on to eat. The service was quick but the food only mediocre my cod being mostly batter. The desserts were tasty. Can’t complain about the prices which were reasonable, however, I’d rather pay a bit more for a better experience.

Arrived for an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Express and spotted this pub/restaurant. Service was fine and the meal adequate. The pub was a little on the 'needed a clean' bracket e.g needed to clean our table ourselves. Feel attention to detail needs a higher emphasis.
