The Dolphin in South Cambridgeshire

The pub was in a quiet village with a good sized car park. We received a good welcome from the friendly landlord before trying a new to me beer which was excellent. When our friends arrived we ordered food. Pies for us and steak and chips and lasagne for them. All very good as was the wine.All in all a very enjoyable visit and we shall return.

Always going to the Dolphin pub, great friendly people, Dean and Donna are a team super. Fabulous food and smiles behind the bar ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It's the second time I've been here with my Grandson for lunch. Good food at reasonable prices. Friendly staff and good atmosphere.

We attended the Paint a Pot evening at The Dolphin, we booked in with our son who has adhd and social anxiety. The staff were absolutely amazing at the pub, they showed him round to his table to check he was ok where he had been booked to sit, they came over and checked on him during the evening, they even contacted the company Glazed Creations for a particular piece of pottery for him. Which was a hit. Nothing was too much trouble. He obviously felt comfortable in his environment as he completed 2 pieces of pottery. We also ate at the pub, which as usual was lovely. He already wants to book in for the next event. Massive thank you to The dolphin team, and too the lovely ladies from glazed creations.

Went for a lovely event of pottery painting with Glazed Creations. Staff were wonderful. Have had food here before as well and it's good value grub

Visited on saturday early evening with my husband and kids We ordered off the main menu and had 2 meals for £14.49 My husband had the fish and I had salt and pepper chicken Both came out beautifully presented, hot, fresh and smelt amazing The bar was very busy but we didn’t wait too long considering there was 5/6 other tables eating and ordering too High praise to Vic in the kitchen, my husband said his fish was better than the Fish and Chip shop!

Called in Dolphin recently as I was passing through Melbourn, and just fancied something to eat. The service good and friendly, and the food was good too, and served pretty quickly, will definitely be going back.

This pub is great. It is the only one in the village that serves food all day every day and the standard of food is amazing. We visit a few times a week and are always greeted warmly by the lovely staff. Unfortunately there are one or two regulars that spoil our experience. They don't seem to have any control of their children. I've overheard them many times running the place down. I wonder why they keep coming in if they think it's that bad! This doesn't put us off coming here though as the other customers and the staff more than make up for this.

Great food - prompt service We had burgers, pies, steaks, lasagne and gammons - all perfectly cooked and served promptly. Proper suet jam roly poly was lovely as was lava cookies

First time eating food with the new so called chief,the chicken was raw and totally had not probed, service is very slow,bar staff very unwell coming and never behind the bar.

The pub is run down and the food took over an hour to come out and was poor quality. Would not recommend.

I came in on Friday and there was a funeral, we had a drink and all seemed ok till I went to the toilet and could clearly hear someone in the toilet tapping away the snorting something. Clearly what I thought bas the state of her the rest of the day and she didn’t do it just once. We then came in Sunday evening and a man clearly wanted a fight he tried to pick on some young boy, table and glasses broken as the boys father stepped into help his son, the young girl behind the bar was on her own which is awful when they clearly have a landlady that don’t care much and her son is the assistant manager.they are clearly cut from the same cloth . Lazy and dirty looking. I will be emailing green king about this to as it’s not the first time I’ve witnessed things and she is no where to be seen, disgusting behaviour for a landlady to leave a young girl to deal with this and she lives above the pub. The glasses getting broken and table knocked over could be heard inside so she would have heard it upstairs’,she needs to hang up her hat and give the job to someone that would bring the pub up a bit , emailing green king now

Lovely friendly pub. We had lasagne. It was home cooked by Alfie and delicious . Donna who served us was attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend.

What a lovely pub. Very friendly staff and locals. Manager was happy for me to park my motorhome in the carpark to stay overnight. I had drinks and food and watched the England - Netherlands semi final UAFA match along with the very busy pub. Manager is going to add the pub to Park4nite app for those of us in campers or motorhomes who like a pub stop over. There is a large beer garden, children’s play area and the pub is dog friendly. I highly recommend The Dolphin.

Popped in yesterday for lunch with friends We had booked a table the day before and we were told of a big table in at lunch and we came in before them to get served quicker. Our food came out hot and tasty, and we were so happy with the service. The big table turned up afterwards and the two ladies on had their hands full, but they worked so hard to make sure we were all kept happy and attended too. The staff were friendly and made us feel well looked after We will definitely come back again Thanks Paula and Danielle

Came in yesterday with my work colleagues We had pre-ordered due to our large table. When we arrived there was a few tables in the restaurant/bar area having or waiting for food. Everything looked so good! We were served on the bar by the two ladies, who were friendly and recommended good drinks. Once seated our food wasn’t long, and everything was spot on! Hot, tasty, and fresh. Good value for money, and a nice clean place to eat. We will definitely be back, maybe on a Friday evening for a social and some more drinks (when we don’t have work lol) Thanks for having us, and filling our bellies Sorry we didn’t catch the bar staff’s names but they were great and very accommodating

Visited the Dolphin at around 1:30pm on a Thursday lunchtime for lunch and a catchup with a friend after recovering from a major operation the following week. We ordered 2 diet cokes which at an extortionate £3.85 each, for what was basically a pint of ice. We settled at our table and perused the menus which had been kindly placed on each. However, we went to order a simple scampi and chips each and were told that they were too busy to do walk-ins and that we should go elsewhere for our food. The pub was virtually empty and only 6 people were sitting in the restaurant area. Ironically one, if not all, of the bar staff were wearing tops that advertised beer and a burger. It begs the question really, why weren’t we advised when we purchased our overly expensive ice that food was not available. And also why were the menus left on each table so that we could reasonably expect food to be served? If we had been told we would have had an hour’s wait then we could have managed that but nothing was offered, apart from maybe a half-hearted apology. Very poor experience and I certainly won’t be visiting the Dolphin any time soon. Despite it being only a 10-15 minute walk from home I will use the Green Man or British Queen in future as I will be allowed to drive again very soon.

We popped here for a drink and some snacks but I was so disappointed I ordered a portion of chips and a sharing portion of nachos, the nachos came with no cheese at all maybe a little bit burnt on the bottom, and the chips had about 8 chips in the bowl that’s all. It cost me nearly £12 and we had to go McDonald’s on the way home to get the children some food, so disappointing.

On Friday 21st Jun between 1.15pm to 3.45pm, my friends and family randomly picked this lovely local pub called The Dolphin, Melbourn after attending quad biking in the area. The hospitality and service provided by Paula and Millie was wonderful and fun. Thanks for making our birthdays and day memorable and we all had a great time. The food and desserts were tasty too. Great pub in Melbourn Royston in Cambridgeshire. Green king pub so if you have the app great way to order to your table great beer garden plenty of space with climbing frame slides etc for the children plus football on the the TVs

Food was good. Make sure you eat in the restaurant area as patrons at the bar can be a bit noisy, and the language was colourful.

Nice pub with good value food - I had a voucher so that was really good value - and good service. We had a problem with 1 drink but it was corrected quickly. The monthly special burgers were very tasty.

We were in the area with friends and decided to book to eat at the Dolphin and glad we did. Great local pub where we given a warm welcome by staff as well as locals . We were shown to our table which was away from the bar area and ordered our food which when it arrived was freshly cooked and very tasty. We were looked after by staff during our meal who were lovely, making sure everything was ok and we didn't need anything. If you are in the area call into the Dolphin, you wont be disappointed, thank you Donna and Dean , we will certainly visit you again !!

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The menu choice was good and the food is freshly made. It was delicious and the whole party agreed it was a good meal. The only downside is the price of drinks, but that is an issue for the brewery.

What a lovely friendly pub, the landlady Jacqui was so welcoming as was Paula. The meals we had were first class as was the service. I will definitely go back if I'm in the area again. Very well worth a visit.

I Went with my family for Mother's day, the food was really good, the staff were friendly, and what was lovely at the end of the meal I was given flowers from them. Will definitely be going again

Dolphin Pub Melbourne, good clean and tidy pub Melbourne. Food was roast dinner, healthy portions. Atmosphere was good. Service a little. Slow but it gave us time to. Digest out meal.

we both had roast dinner, and it was horrible, meat was fatty, the potatoes dripping in oil, the stuffing ball was very overcooked, veg was raw and hard, gravy was very think. the only that was ok was Yorkshire pudding. will not go back on a suday

Such a friendly, comfortable pub. It was my first time here, with my partner, and we received a warm welcome as we walked in. The Guinness was spot on and we had two really lovely burgers. The music schedule looks really exciting. I’ll definitely be back.

Disappointing experience, staff member had been very rude to myself and party due the duration of our meal. Insulting, being judgemental and making rude remarks to the party and myself.

Atmosphere was good, service was excellent and really friendly staff. Food was what you would expect for this type of venue, room for improvement, about the same standard as a weather spoons.

Cracking pub in the heart of the village. All staff and regulars are friendly and accommodating Tommy additional needs. Jacqui the manager is very approachable and always up for a laugh. I've made some right good friends here.

The Dolphin is quite easily the best pub in Melbourn and it's surrounding villages. Excellent food is available from the restaurant as well. The dolphin has a great selection of drinks, with even greater staff! All the bar staff are so friendly, and the lovely...

Nice setting with a good atmosphere, the food was cold and tasteless at best. The miserable retirement dodging manager was extremely rude. She clearly shouldn’t be anywhere near the service industry.

Best hunters chicken i have ever had.

We had a really amazing roast last Sunday at the Dolphin - plentiful portions and lots of variety on the plate. The beef was apparently cooked well and my veggie option was tasty. Lovely hot, thick gravy really finished it off nicely! Service is always very friendly there and we had a lovely time. Thank you Jacqui and the team, we’ll be back soon :)

The Dolphin is a really friendly family pub The food is amazing. Especially the steaks, cooked to order and perfect. The atmosphere is great. A good mix of regulars and first timers. The bar staff are really knowledgeable and approachable. Great value for money in my opinion

A nice warm welcoming pub, the regulars are salt of the earth and willing to engage in conversation. I always have a laugh when in the pub. The food has always been on par. I'm proud to call this pub my local. A classic addition for the village.

One of the best pubs I've ever been in. The landlady I think her name is jacky is a wonderful lady with such a heart of gold. She clearly cares about all her customers and there is not one person in the pub she didn't check on. She was very friendly with all the customers and I found her easy to approach. Food is brilliant and the bar staff took my chilli allergy very seriously. Lots of community events advertised here too. A really well run pub and the barmaid is very knowledgeable of their stock.

I often pop into The Dolphin for a drink and treat my boy to his favourite chicken wings and chips! The manager and staff are so friendly and helpful. I like the community/family atmosphere in there, they like to have music evenings/bank holiday weekend specials and other events to bring the community together! Looking forward to my next visit! Starters nachos very bland not much cheese and no avacardo. Mains where very slow coming out some where finished before the last two came out.sea salt chips were inedible as far to much salt added when it clearly stated just chips and no where mentioned about sea salt. Chicken salad far too many onions and very bland. Hunters chicken and mixed grill chicken was very dry.katsu curry taste nothing like it was meant to taste seemed very jellyfied.

This is a busy local pub. Especially on weekends. Nice food, we had great service and a quieter eating area. We have used it before and will again.

Good choice of food and it was served quickly and piping hot. The gravy was rather salty for my liking but everything else was really tasty. The bar staff could be a little more attentive but perhaps he hasn't been in the job long. Pub is a little tired looking in places, restaurant area is better, toilets and sinks need cleaning more.

Visited here 6pm Sunday 16th April 23. Pub was quiet, a local style for a village. Had cycled from London to a friend at Meldreth with a mate and decided to walk round and get a beer and some food for all 3 of us. First beers, Abbot, were fine. Ordered food which took 15/20 mins to arrive, reasonable? went to use the toilet and could smell it before I opened the door!! Second beer ordered whilst waiting food was very cloudy and didn't settle so we asked for replacements, which took quite some sorting! Food arrived and was Not hot, the pies (1 x chicken + 1 x beef) were not fresh from the oven, more like microwave given the chewy texture of the pastry! Chips & veg not hot. My friend ordered fish and chips which looked awful, he sent the mushy peas back to be heated but they were never brought back! He asked the server where they were but had nearly finished his meal and declined the return. The man (assume manager) who took the orders and attended to us was not once apologetic nor did he offer any reason or replacements for poor quality / service. I'm not prone to complaining, in fact I write very rarely, but this was disgraceful to say the least! I won't use this pub again.

Poor service and extremely bad food quality. I visited this place some time ago with family and ordered food. I had a chicken dish with potato's which came to me raw in the centre. I complained about this and the issue was dealt with immediately. There was nothing to argue with here. I was happy how they dealt with the issue and assured them I'll be back. Fast forward a year to today. And I am back. Again, I ordered through the app. 15 minutes later, we went to ask where the drinks from the order were? We were told the ticket was lost and that the food is being made. 2 people who arrived at the bar 10 minutes after our order walked out with their drinks before us. When the condiments were delivered to our table, I asked what was taking so long and why people are being served although we had ordered before? I was greeted with a complete attitude and told "you complained last time. I replied "yes?" The food was bad and I complained. She then continued to argue with me asking why have I come back etc? Then pointed at someone and said (without fact) you have come here with her and she was banned but I let her in. I replied no I did not come with her and even if I did. What gravity does that have on the fact you have lost our order? Or the fact I've complained in the past? She stated she didn't have to serve me to which I said correct. You don't. Here is my drink, I will have a full refund. Soooo rude!!!
