The Hub Cafe at Moira Furnace saved us with warm space indoors and quick service. There is a sunny area outside that traps the warmth even on this the coldest of subzero days. There is a nice pottery and other shops in the same courtyard. Other local cafes had > 1/2 hour queues, with little but prepackaged snacks and no seating.

This Cafe is somewhere I would call to just have a cuppa and a cake. Not sure | would go for a main meal because it is on the small side and it appears dark inside the Cafe but they do have handy outside seating. The location the Cafe is situated in is well worth a visit so why not a cuppa as well.

Our ladies walking group 19/08/2019 had a lovely circular walk from the furnace to Conkers along the Ashby canal followed by excellent service at The Hub cafe, made very welcome, advised what food was available, very enjoyable, fast and efficient service, food presented nicely and hot, very pleasant lady & a young man served us. Definitely be visiting again, well done.

Visited here today after staying at a nearby location for a short break. We thought we should walk to the Tea Rooms to enjoy some tea and cake. How very disappointing to find only one cake on offer which was a non traditional mint choc chip cake. We walked on a little further to the Lakeside Bistro which I am happy to say had a lovely choice of cake. I always thought that tea rooms meant cake, how wrong I was!!!

Excellent little cafe in a lovely location, with good food, great coffee and a friendly welcome. Popular with people walking in the area.

We were starting the day at the Moira Canal Festival and this cafe provided a latte to start the day. Friendly service and good coffee.

Very unusual now for a cafe to have no dairy alternatives at all. Disappointed as I don't have dairy for health reasons and my daughter has a dairy allergy, we will have to go elsewhere until they offer another option.

Arriving at the furnace area just before lunchtime and very hungry, we were delighted to find this cafe - which had been recommended to us.The courtyard is very pleasant and sunny. Several tables surround the cafe's entrance, for those wishing to eat outdoors. Inside, it is reasonably spacious and certainly well organised. Menus are easy to find, with many good items on offer for lunch, some more robust than others but all within a very reasonable price range. The various homemade sponge cakes - all covered over, on the main counter present a challenge to those trying to resist them. We just about managed to. Small biscuits and flapjacks are available too. Decaffeinated tea is available. A choice of bread is given when ordering sandwiches. The food was wonderful. It arrived quickly with lovely fresh salad. Well filled, our toasties were seriously tasty. We did have to find clean cutely (four pieces were clean after seven taken out of the pot). The hygiene rating displayed is 4 star. The cafe itself overall is clean. Four high chairs were available at the time of our visit. We will certainly go again because parking is easy, it is close to the canal and furnace, has a good gallery and pottery nearby, with good clean toilets across the courtyard.

As a local Ashbian I have some knowledge of the pub over the last 40 years and I would say much of that is positive. However have being served today 8pm (Sunday) with a pint at £5.40 (up 20p pre budget) and having sat down bring told I have 10 minutes to drink it is somewhat less than acceptable.

A very friendly inclusive pub. Played there on open mic night, which was brilliantly ran. Great fun
