The onion Bhaji was dry and tasted reheated, while the curry had fatty meat and an unpleasant flavour. The sides, including undercooked bread and chips, were equally disappointing. Despite a previous disappointing visit, I gave it another try, but unfortunately, the issues persisted. Regrettably, I won't be returning based on these consistent experiences.

Fantastic service from the lovely staff at the Moghul who kindly delivered 300 Samosa and Bhaji along with a bucket of mint sauce for my party! Everyone was raving about them and they were just what we needed to accompany a night of drinking & dancing

This was our first visit. It's bring your own booze. They sell soft drinks. It's quite snug and was very busy, so booking is essential, on a weekend anyway. The table was fine for two of us, probably a tight squeeze with all the food for 4 people. The service was excellent. Food was amazing!! We will definitely return.

This was our first visit to the Moghul Restaurant in Horsforth and we thoroughly enjoyed it. On arrival, we were welcomed at the door and shown to our seats. The restaurant was quiet but filled up quite soon. We also noted that the staff were busy with take aways and deliveries. Our orders were quickly taken and the food arrived promptly. Our main meals were plentiful and very tasty indeed. I chose lamb Balti with Peshwari nan bread and my wife chose prawn Biryani - no complaints whatsoever. We will definitely be back again.

How can you make lamb tikka this tough. Sauce was really poor and very little. I can't really see where the great reviews come from. Won't be ordering again. The prawn dish was very light on prawns and sauce and flavour.

This was my first curry takeaway in as long as I can remember. I know that may come as a shock to those who get a takeaway every week, but for me it is a rare treat and curry has never been a top choice - however, after this meal, that might change. What fantastic service - very quick and fairly cheap too. I got the Tandoori special and it came as a chicken leg with a delicious curry sauce on the side. The nan bread was so sweet and delicious. The rest of my companions all enjoyed their meals too. I was lucky enough to try some of my mother's which was delightful - quite sweet, not too spicy. Luckily due to my recent Covid diagnosis, no one wanted to try any of mine so I got to enjoy it all myself (I am clean now but just in case, my loved ones are still keeping a distance). Fantastic curry place. Will be nice to come here as a restaurant once it reopens.

We eat here regularly and Moghul is always fantastic. It’s an incredibly busy little restaurant with a great selection of traditional favourites and some interesting little twists. The tandoori chicken livers and the green marsala with pomegranate are my usual orders. It's been under the same owners sincd the 70's so longevity like that speaks for itself! It’s also take BYO so really good value, if you forget your booze the Kings Arms next door are happy for you to take drinks to the restaurant just make sure you take your empties back!

Despite being a curry lover for 30 years and living less than 10 minutes drive away, I had never got round to visiting Moghul....until now. My year long quest for the perfect chicken dhansak took me to Moghul's. I ordered takeway and added a green chili naan to go with the main dish. Didn't have to wait too long after phoning my order in. Service was prompt once I arrived and the curry was very tasty. Although I didn't eat in, the restaurant seemed to have quite a few diners - I understand it's bring your own bottle too. Can't believe it's taken me so long to find this hidden gem - and I returned the following week to sample a different curry which was also tasty. I'll add Moghul to my list of favourite curry houses for sure!

Four of us had a meal here on a Sunday night recently and enjoyed it but weren't blown away. Lots of good points - very friendly, popular, lively atmosphere, some slightly more unusual dishes reflecting the Bangladeshi influence (e.g. the Niralees), some delicious freshly cooked nans, the fact that it's not licensed so you can bring your own alcohol (and keep it in the big fridge at the back of the restaurant), pretty reasonably priced. The food's not outstanding though and the vegetarian thali, which is usually an opportunity to try several tasty vegetable dishes or dals, was rather ordinary and a missed opportunity. Moghul's is a perfectly adequate and enjoyable place to eat and you'll clearly not have a bad meal here, but you can also find better, with some more imaginative dishes. Try it for yourself.

Went here after reading some of the reviews. When we arrived only one table was occupied. Three guys were waiting around and one showed us to our table. They then stared at us for pretty much the whole time we were there. Very odd, almost surreal experience. We ordered the mixed tandoori grill which had clearly been made some time (days) ago and reheated. Not the best we've ever had but we were starving (and drinking Morgan's Spiced Rum), so we polished it off. For mains we ordered the chicken haandy, lamb balti (waiter's recommendation) and a chappatti each. These dishes were quite tasty, and the chappattis came out piping hot. However as with many 'Indian' restaurants in the U.K. , it is owned and run by Bangladeshis, you could tell that the same base sauce is used across each of the curries, and the dishes are all clearly made to cater for western taste buds. So not really the most authentic Indian meal out. You can easily make food like this at home by following many of the "British Indian Restaurant " recipes available on YouTube and elsewhere on the internet. So overall, a somewhat strange experience (even going to the toilet you can hear everyone's conversations) , standard 'Indian' restaurant food, not bad but nothing amazing, and worth a visit if you want to be stared at by the waiters while you eat. I guess it works because it's in Horsforth.

Me and my wife went in as we were passing by horsforth and of course we were starving. The restaurant is really not something should be called a restaurant as I think their business model is based upon take away. When we went in we were the only people who were in, and that was a bit scary, all the other pubs, bars, and restaurants were buzzing. This one got good review in google for some reason so we went in. The cutleries were cheap and you can tell from the look of it, and the food was not great. It was bland and when that feedback was given the response they prepare meal for british taste, instantly I felt like I am a character of Goodness Gracious Me. The food we ordered were not cooked well at all, or should i say not the way it suppose to be cooked, and the more concerning point is they offered papadum at the begining as if it was free then they turn around and charged for it! The papadum tasted old and oily! Ew! Anyway, deffo I am not going back to this one ever rather I will try some italian next door.

Came across this place and read the good reviews before we decided to eat here. Inside is nicely done out until you look next to the fridge and you see whole load of mess of stock which should be kept in the back and not for customers to see. There was even a really large blender placed on the floor under two chairs. Hope to god that isn't used for the food! Hygiene didn't look the best. More I look at stuff while waiting for our meal more I realised it looks nice outside but very poorly done inside. It looks like it needs to be inspected. A member of staff dropped a knife and just picked it up again. I was horrified! We ordered the lamb and chicken balti Asian style. The meat was really good quality and loads but the sauce was the same colour as my partners meal and he didn't order a balti. It wasn't hot either. I had 3 chillies put in it but nothing chopped up. I didn't even get a tingle with the meal. The sauce was a bit bland and at these prices there is better curry houses out there. Not impressed. Nearly £40 for 2 cokes, 2 mains & 2 smalls naans That's expensive. It looks like a place to go if you are drunk and want to pay £5 for a curry after a night out. It's the same quality but at luxury prices. I'll be going back to my usual curry restaurants in Bradford.

I last visited the Moghul in 1989, when I was leaving Horsforth. 27 years later I'm back in my 'home' town and had to revisit. Having been all over the globe and had Indian/Bangladeshi/Pakistani cuisine in all kinds of places, it was refreshing to come back and sample 'Yorkshire Bangladesh' food. Well, I'll keep it short. If you haven't been here, then come. Excellent, fresh ingredients, combined with an accomplished chef and friendly service. What more could one ask for. Highly recommended. My only snag was that I couldn't finish it. (Took it home in a Doggy bag- no questions asked or furrowed brows). Ample selection for meaty and veggie folks and all delicious. Bring you own beer but soft drinks available for purchase. Go. You won't regret it. Best book, as it's tiny. Unknown I'll be back.

This restaurant is consistently good. It's starters are some of the best I've tasted, from the huge tandoori mixed grill to the delicate machli fish. The nans are to die for and if it doesn't fill you up too much to eat the actual meal, try the gorgeously refreshing Lussi.Because the restaurant is not licensed and you can take your own alcoholic drinks, the bill always seems ridiculously low.If you have children, the very reasonable 3 course kids menu is excellent value and a great way to introduce them to mildly spiced food.Best days to eat at Moghuls are Sunday's to Thursday's as Friday's and Saturday's get very busy. If you prefer takeaways I can honestly say a Moghuls is just as good as the food served in the restaurant.

Pre Easter curry and back to our favourite after a gap of what, perhaps a couple of weeks! Welcomed as friends as always and shown to our regular table #1, supplied with pickle tray and poppadum’s with a couple extra thrown in for good measure. We perused the menu although we pretty much now it off by heart and having enjoyed almost everything on it at some point as well as dishes that have not yet made it on there at all, we attempted to locate something new to try - not an easy task. For starters we chose Garlic Chicken Chaat and Fish Tikka, both as excellent as always, well presented, hot in temperature and tickling the taste buds. For mains I chose the Chicken Vindaloo and my fiancée’ Chicken Dupiaza. I’d often commented I’d try the Vindaloo so took the plunge and ordered. Our friend taking the order gave me that look, you know the one, like do you know what you’re doing as its very spicy. Well yes I assured him, having eaten the entire menu twice over at least it was time to give it a go. It arrived soon after and as promised it was fiery yet not overly so for my tastes. Not a drop of sweat passed my brow as the entire bowl was demolished and hovered up like a demented Henry. It was excellent and thoroughly enjoyable but the little bit tried by my fiancée was too hot for her to handle. I enjoyed it very much. The Chicken Dupiaza was again as always very good and polished off with the help of a doggy bag to accompany us home. Normal sides of Peshwari naan and lemon rice were as good as always. Another thoroughly enjoyable meal at our favourite restaurant. Anyone thinking of going to Moghul don’t give it a second thought, just go, just eat and enjoy the experience, you will no doubt become regulars like many others including obviously ourselves. We will be back ….. soon! Visited as a couple 24th March 2016

We visited this restaurant on a surprisingly very quiet week night. The food was up to its good standard except it was only lukewarm. I would expect it to be piping hot. The only reason I didn't mention it at the time was we had already waited long enough for the food. I would go back again as it was delicious and the menu has an excellent choice.

Looked on website read the menu. Arrived at 18.30hrs today and had a good friendly welcome from the staff. There were two of us. Had a lamb mild curry, zagoloo and pilau peas rice. All dishes were hot and the meal was very tasteful. We had a waiter was around all the tables clearing as a dish was used. The Manager was on duty and was also serving. The food and safety standards give this restaurant marked a 4 mark. There is a very good trade in Takeaways. By 19.30 there was a queue waiting to be seated. We both agreeded that the evening meal was to an excellent standard. There is no drinks licence so you are allowed to take your own alachol.

I don't mind waiting for food 1 hour 20 mins, but when I got home both dishes were half full. It was nice but didn't fill me at all and was very annoyed as waited a while and we were both very hungry! So very disappointed have to wait all that time for half portions. I think they take too much on and can't cope with all the orders.Won't be going back anytime soon.

I ate at Moghul with a friend on a Monday evening. Having just moved to Horsforth, and being a lover of good curry, I was keen to try it out as a potential regular diner. The restaurant was empty when we arrived at about 1930, but quickly filled up by 2000, which was encouraging. Moghul is a small-ish restaurant, seating about 40 covers when full. We were shown to a window seat and given menus to read through. The menu is extensive and covers all of usual fare, along with some less-familiar dishes for those feeling more adventurous. There is something for everyone, from Kormas all the way through to Masalas and Vindaloos; alongside some Jaflong, Haandy & Shali dishes. The accompanying sundries menu is of the usual variety – breads, rice etc. Although tempted by one of the lesser-known dished, I opted for a Murgh Balti – a favourite and good to establish a standard to compare to other curry houses where I have had the same meal. My dining partner – not such a curry fan – opted for a Chicken Korma. We also ordered a portion of rice and a naan to share. No starters, but we did order some poppadums to keep us going. The poppadums arrived promptly with our drinks and had the usual selection of dips – mango chutney, chopped onion/tomato, a very hot dip and a medium dip. Although the two hotter dips were nice, it would have been good to have a cooler option – such as raita – but this is a small detail. The food started to arrive after about ten minutes. I say ‘started’, as the rice, naan and my partner’s Korma all turned up at once, with my Balti following about 5 minutes later. This was quite odd, as my partner wanted to wait for my meal, but naturally did not want her meal to cool down. Whilst my Balti did arrive in time, it was odd that they chef had sent the Korma and sides before all of the food was prepared. With regards to the food, it was of a fairly average standard. Don’t get me wrong, it was not unpleasant or inedible at all, just not up to the standard of other Indian restaurants in Leeds. My Balti was quite hot (chilli), which overrode the tomato flavour one would normally expect. The sauce was thick and generous, but slightly oily. Likewise, my partner’s Korma was a little too creamy and cloying. Again, not unpleasant, but both dishes were slightly exaggerated versions of what I would expect in an ideal world. The rice was fluffy and pleasant, whilst the naan was slightly crispy. All in all, Moghul is not a bad restaurant by any stretch of the imagination. Having said that, and having not tried the other Indian in Horsforth, I would try somewhere else before I went back. If Moghul’s was the better of the two, I would eat there again if I did not want to travel out of Horsforth. However, if I wanted a curry of a high standard, I would travel further afield for it. I would imagine that their food would work well as a high standard of take-away, rather than prime ‘dining-out in a restaurant’ food (and that is meant as a compliment!). In summary, Moghul is a good ‘local’ curry house. Don’t expect wonders and you won’t be disappointed.

Personal favourites are the Bhuna Prawn on Puree, the Kalijee (chicken liver) Tikka. The Peshwari Nan is an excellent accompaniment and the Lamb Niralee and Fish Haandy are amazing.
