I had a wonderful visit with my boyfriend! Hidden gem on a quiet street in Newcastle. Take off your shoes and sit somewhere. I liked being here; the environment was relaxed and cosy, the staff were friendly, and I met adorable cats! The staff introduced the cats. Cats roam freely throughout the café. You can see they're all well cared for and loved. Cats have healthy coats. They all have unique characteristics but are incredibly relaxed and at peace. Theres maybe one cat spread out dozing. A brust of zoomies, or a curious look at you. We were lucky to be delighted to see kittens in our present during our vist! We received biscuits to feed the cats. I liked the décor and style inside. It smelt great. Everything was clean. This cafe was a place of pure delight and we thoroughly loved our vist here. Excellent independent local business to support. I highly recommend going.

This is such a lovely warm friendly cafe full of beautiful furry cats,please come in and meet all the cats ,with lovely friendly staff. All welcome to play with the cats,and feed the cats with their cat sweets.

Over priced entry for 3 kids and 1 adult , too many visitors at once ' one cat very unfriendly ,very smelly .not worth money

Cost over £33 for entry ,snacks & drinks for 1 adult & 2kids . Drinks came quite quick but waited ages for snacks and you only get an hour inside. Carers fee was meant to be half price but half of £7 isn’t £4. One of the ginger cats was quite angry / unfriendly maybe should not be in a cat cafe . Staff seemed friendly enough Overall very expensive and not many cats

Hidden gem down a quiet street in newcastle. I felt comfortable and at home as soon as I walked through the door. Very welcoming friendly relaxed environment. Perfect little hideaway from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the city. The cats are delightful and roam freely around the cafe. You can tell they are all extremely well cared for and loved. They all have their quirks but are very relaxed and at ease. There maybe one sprawled out asleep on a table or your lap. A burst of zoomies or curiously inspecting you. This cafe is a place of pure joy and we enjoyed every moment of our time slot. It's over far too quick. Everything is clean and well kept which I'm impressed with. I somehow, with 1 dog find dog hair in clean cups or in my sandwich at home. not a single kitty hair. Teach me your ways! The small entry fee is worth every penny, the snacks and drinks are reasonably priced too and tasty. I highly recommend mog on the tyne. take off your shoes, sit somewhere cosy and just forget about everything outside. An experience worth having. Please be aware this is obviously an animal cafe and you are there for the cats. Do not come with expectations that there won't be any kitty smells. As an animal lover I did not care and it did not ruin anything. It's to be expected when around 10 or so cats. It's not overpowering at all and mild at best, but keep that in mind. Anyways, we will be back!

Fantastic little cafe helping cats and kittens find new homes. Very knowledgeable and caring staff who obviously take great pride in what they do. Will definitely be visiting again.

What a wonderful little cafe. I went for a date- my date could unfortunately not make it but they made me feel very welcome. The cats were all wonderful, relaxed, well looked after and cared for. 🥰 I'll be bringing my lovely date back to visit when she's free next 🥰

Lovely cat cafe less than 5 minutes walk from Newcastle train station. Staff were superb, great latte, and the cats were adorable. Highly recommend as a place to stop by while waiting for a train. Fab independent local business to support. They also do adoption days #AdoptDontShop

I had an amazing visit with my friend! The atmosphere was nice and cozy, service was amazing and friendly and the food was delicious! The staff introduced to the cats and we got to play with them while enjoying some snacks. We were also lucky to see a kitten present at the time of visit! Overall everything was excellent, would highly recommend visiting <3

I haven't been to other cat cafés, so I'm not sure how it compares to others, but I had a great time here! The coffee was perfect, staff were friendly and the cats were adorable and not shy towards people. Do watch out for Dawn though as that one loves to steal your food!

Awesome place with awesome staff and it had a nice place for all the cats and they seemed very loved by everyone. The floor can be a bit chilly so they have slippers for you. A+ Food was yummy and delicious.

Really good this was the first ever cat cafe I went to and the cats were so sweet overall I had the best time

Loved being in the company of the cats. The cats were cats, so generally pretending to be uninterested, but they were happy to be stroked and petted. And when it was biscuit time, or there was milk/cream around they were very interested!! We had a little blip where the servers forgot to come take our drinks/food order, so we just had drinks.

Lovely experience for cat lovers. Nice and clean place with friendly staff (both people and cats 😁) Hot chocolate was delicious too, beware of cats trying to steal a taste! The staff here are lovely by the way, they help you with your food and talk to you about the cats. It was an engaging experience. I have to disagree with the 2 reviews that mentioned the odour, as a cat owner myself this place was very well kept and did not smell bad at all. Perhaps a normal level of cat odour at most. Anyways strongly recommend a visit here, make a reservation beforehand online!

From my personal experience the staff aren’t the best, they were giving me and my friend dirty looks and making us feel judged. The cats were cute, and the food was good. I had the white choc brownie and it was delicious.

Came here as a treat for my partner and since they happened to be running a game night on the day we were going to Newcastle anyways. I'm not that partial to cat cafes anymore as the interactions always feel a bit disingenuous, and the cats on that day were a bit like that (not particularly interested in interacting) but some of them were which made it a pretty relaxing experience, not to mention the food was actually quite nice and not too overpriced. Cat bingo was very fun and they had a lot of cute merch we also got at the end, including stickers (please make more!). Cats were very interested in the hot chocolate and marshmallows.

The mog on the tyne was very good, the staff were all very friendly along with the cats, and visitors could play with the cats. It is very good for snacks and drinks.

I’ve been to 5 cat cafes but this one is definitely my favourite. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the settees are so comfortable. The staff are so friendly so it’s nice to see them as well as the cats. The cats are all lush and the newest kitten Peter is so sweet, he likes to jump on your knee for a snuggle. Deffinately recommend the pumpkin spice hot chocolate it’s so good.

Fantastic place! My cat crazy daughter loves it here. Selection is small but ample, the girls who run it are lovely and clearly know the cats very well. Genuinely a place ran on love.

Frustrated cats, deprived of natural daily light. Too little space.

Such a good vibe in here. Brought the family for some cuddly coffee time and had a great day out. Would definitely advise getting in here on a cold day and getting a hot choc with some fluffy friends to keep you warm 🤘

Friendly staff, friendlier cats 🐈‍⬛

The cafe looks cosy, the first cat cafe in the city. Unfortunately, all kittens spend most of their time sitting in front of the kitchen door and are not interested in playing. Additionally, when it was time to feed the kittens and each guest of the cafe received snacks to give to the kittens, I was bitten very badly. The kittens are not well behaved, they bit into my fingers and scratched me so much that I was bleeding. The kitten also licked the whipped cream from my chocolate, even though I was keeping an eye on my drink - it was impossible to keep the kittens away from it because they jumped on the table every moment as soon as the food was served to us.

Wow what a wonderful place for cat lovers! The kids and me really enjoyed going. Totally tasty drinks too all serves in cat mugs with cat spoons. The staff are great too can't wait to go back!

We didn't have any food but we enjoyed catte latte and hot chocolate. It was so fabulous to see all the beautiful cats and I especially loved meeting Gary who was very happy being stroked. The kids didn't want to leave. It's very clean and you can see how well cared for the cats are. We'll definitely be back. Thanks for a brilliant birthday experience

I've visited a few times and it's my favourite cat cafe in the area the cats are friendly and sweet and love to play its sad how short time you get bur it's still worth it.

Skeptical of a cat café having been to Leeds (shockingly bad). But we were going to Newcastle so booked in anyway, as despite having her own cat she acts like every cat she comes across is a brand new species so she was bound to enjoy it even if I didn't (parenting ammi right). Turns out I was wrong to be so reluctant. It was wonderfully quiet and relaxed (unlike Leeds, can you tell I'm bitter here). In terms of food it was a million degrees outside so I literally only wanted a ginger beer. My daughter had a brownie though which did look lush and she did enjoy it. The staff were lovely and welcoming, the cats were chilled, and despite it literally being one small/medium room, it made for a more personal experience. Guests were even given little bowls of cat biccys to feed to little lads and lassies. Made for a lovely atmosphere and a really nice experience.

Son had a bottle of water ,me a Earl grey tea , was busy as was a Saturday lunch time

Visited today with my 9 year old daughter and we had such an amazing time here. The cats were all so friendly and I think my daughter a i both fell in love with 6month old Peter. He was so cute and kept pinching our chairs. We both had a brownie with was delicious and a hot chocolate and coffee. The staff were so friendly and answered lots of questions and the I could tell the cats are we looked after and loved!! We will definitely be back as my daughter said it’s the best afternoon she’s ever had.

Lovely cats and atmosphere but food and service was not good. DO NOT GO IF YOU'RE GLUTEN FREE. I'm a coeliac and I put on our booking "one gluten free attendee" but was told they didn't have any gluten free bread in when I arrived and was only offered a small bowl of crisps. The waitress also suggested putting on my booking next time that I was gluten free... which I did. Will not be attending again.

Staff are always on hand and very friendly. The cafe space was sooo cosy and they sell high quality merch that you can buy after your session ends. I would recommend it, and I'm definitely going back soon.

We visited here today with my little girl and loved it, all of the staff were friendly and chatted with us, they spent time talking to my daughter and explaining which toys the different cats like. Lots of interaction with the cats who are clearly well looked after. My cat-mad girl declared it was the best day ever so we will definitely be back!

What an absolutely lovely little hidden gem this place is. Friendly staff beautiful relaxed and playful cats everywhere you look and great value food. I went with my daughter and she loved playing with the cats (which you were encouraged to do) and watching them zooming around all the overhead ladders and walkways. It was very laid back and relaxing especially when we were honoured by getting a lap snuggle from the resident kitten Peter. Just a full on wonderful hour and we will definitely be back.

Took my two daughters yesterday as a birthday treat for my youngest and wow, what an experience. They both absolutely loved their time there as did I. The cats are super cute and we even enjoyed some time with spicy Dawn 🤣. Cat Bingo was a huge hit, especially with the prizes we won! Can't wait to come back. P.s the hot chocolates are to die for

Great place for children with all the cats around Plenty of toys for the cats to play with and children too. The cheese scones were very tasty. We will return

Brilliant cat cafe, the cats are all obviously well looked after and happy to be stroked on their terms (as is the norm with cats!). What makes this place stand out from the crowd is that they give you dry cat food to feed to the cats so you can get really great interaction with them! Scones were delicious - definitely worth trying!!

Nice little place to relax and watch the cats .Most are really friendly, but dont like being handled, you cant pick them up you have to let them jump up on you You can get to stroke them, but it was the end of the day when we went, so probably a bit fed up with people. The food was nice,staff friendly they answer any questions you have. If you're a cat lover, i would recommend a visit .

My favourite place to go in Newcastle, never had a bad experience once. Staff are amazing especially Lara and Lucy, i believe there names are. Cats of course are adorable too and can be very cuddly and fun, really affordable prices for drinks and snacks. Been about 8 times and never let down once! :)

lovely place with friendly staffs. However, the hygiene needs to be improved, there are water splashes around the corner, cat fur on the food, and odours that can be smell even from the street. Although there are many cats around, they doesn't enjoy being pet and appear to be a bit depressed. Kids need to be careful around them because they have sharp nails.

I have been here many times and I absolutely adore it !!! The food is delicious although they could have more stock . The staff are so friendly I love them all so much , they are very engaged and love their cats . All the cats are super beautiful and every time I can I try and go here .

We had a hot chocolates and cake. Hot chocolate were luke warm 😒 didn't warmed us up on cold day at all. Didn't had scone we wanted originally and no 2 different types of brownies we have asked for 🤷🏻‍♀️. Cake we have managed to get at the end was lovely. Service was very nice 🙂

We were on holiday & booked our places well in advance. Our half term school holidays ended last week but had just started in Newcastle. Our slot, at 3.30pm had lots of young children there. Unsure if this is why the cats seemed apprehensive & wanted to avoid human contact. Some did not even respond when the cat treats came out. That aside, it was still lovely to spend an hour with 10 or so kitties walking around. We had hot drinks plus a warm brownie with chocolate sauce which was very nice. Drinks were about £2.75 & cakes were around £3.50. The staff were really friendly & did not push you into eating or drinking anything whilst you were visiting.

This has easily become a family favourite. A must for cat lovers

Recommend not to go in the 3:30-4:30 slot, as the cats had just woken up from their afternoon nap and were very sleepy 😂 Overall, very nice place for a coffee and some snacks, very friendly staff and great fun if you are a cat person.

I didn't eat anything so can't comment too much on food but the coffee was good and the cats were georgeous. My friend got a panini that she liked. It was a massive portion so very generous with portions. My friend and I had an amazing time . Staff were friendly and you can tell they adore the cats . Fantastic atmosphere.

Was a birthday treat, loved every minute ha

We were really disappointed in our visit having had a lovely time in another cat cafe recently. The main thing that spoiled the experience was how absolutely freezing cold it was inside. All of our feet were like blocks of ice come leaving time. Cats like to be warm so this was very surprising. My second concern was how hungry and greedy the cats were. Every time something was brought from the kitchen, the cats were clambering to get to the food and drinks. I appreciate this is a cat cafe but you couldn't leave go of food or drinks unless you were happy for a cat to take a drink or nibble too. Other cat cafes I've been to did not have this problem and my own cat is never greedy. It gave the impression they were all ravenous and many positioned themselves outside of the kitchen door, waiting for an opportunity to get food. The staff were polite and the brownies were tasty. Whilst the hot chocolate looked good, my son couldn't enjoy it as cats were constantly clambering up him to steal cream whilst i tried to guard him and the rest of the order!

Very cute cats! Staff allow you to engage with them in many ways! They are quite cheeky so you have to make sure they don’t try to go for anything you order! I wish there was a little board with the cats names on them however, staff were happy to tell you who the cats were if you asked, their names & a little bit of background info! Very cute place, would recommend! The time went quickly

Splendid cat Caffè, great little spot and wondefull selection of moggies

We had such a good experience at Mog on the Tyne. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, they spoke to us about the history of some of the cats as well as telling us about their own personal favourites. The food and drinks were delicious. I highly recommend the Brie and cranberry pawnini - panini ! The hot chocolates are also a must. As you can see from the photos too the cats are absolutely adorable. Highly recommend!

Lovely place to Pet cats (if they let you do so lol)

While the cafe is in a strange back alley inside it was lovely. The staff were all very friendly and the cats were adorable. Our favourites were Gary (the long haired who was clearly the manager) and Thor who was very shy but very lovely. My cheese scone and mocha were the best I've ever had at a cafe hands down. Definitely recommend for the experience.

My boyfriend took me here for our date night and it was so amazing. I've been to a few cat cafes, and this one was by far the best. The cats are all lovely, albeit a bit shy at times, but you can tell how loved and looked after they are. The staff are really lovely, and even got us all involved in little games the cats like to play, and also feed them some biscuits. I can't wait to come here again and see the kitties once more! 10/10 would come and pet again P.s. Gary is my favourite <3

This was the first time we'd been to a Cat Cafe & my cat obsessed daughter loved it. She had been missing our cat whilst we've been on holiday & since going to Mog on the Tyne she has said it was the highlight of her holiday. The staff were wonderful, being both attentive & welcoming. My daughter spent almost the entire visit surrounded by cats & playing with them. The cats were extremely affectionate & were very drawn to not only my daughter but our food too. Food & drink was presented beautifully & tasted great. I thought the merch was fantastic especially the wonderful prints they were selling. We came out well fed, covered in cat hair (no different from at home) & my daughter had the biggest smile on her face. So much so that she called her dad (my ex-husband) to gush about the experience. We were provided a loyalty card & although we are far from local we are definitely planning to return when we are next in the area.

My cat obsessed granddaughter loved this place as she was introduced to and allowed to play with all the lovely cats. The food and drinks were reasonably priced and well presented and the £6 per person booking fee helps to pay for the care of the cats. It is only a very small cafe but you get more personal attention and the staff member who introduced all the cats to us was very welcoming. It was difficult to find at first as it is tucked away down a narrow alley but this makes it a calmer and peaceful environment.
