This is a firm favourite. The dogs are awesome and the staff are friendly. This is the best place to go for anyone who wants to escape the usual pace of the city. Forget retail therapy and bring on the cutest dogs

I’ve visited here twice now and had a great experience both times. The staff are polite and welcoming and the atmosphere is always great. The dogs are incredibly cute, friendly and most importantly well looked after. It is clear that the staff really care about their job and for the dogs and this is reflected in the dogs’ temperament and behaviour. I would recommend this place to any dog lover or person who wants a special lunch experience!

If there was only one cafe I could visit for the rest of my life it would be a this one! I felt so full of love after my visit, and I fell absolutely in love with all of the dogs! Superb Business, everyone was lovely and explained everything. I mentioned that my husband was in a wheelchair and they made him feel so comfortable and welcome, they made a space for him and even got some of the dogs on a chair level to him since he didn't want to transfer to the floor. The staff went above and beyond for us and we will definitely be back! The doggos were super cute and friendly. Fab time.

Be aware if your visiting the cafe with a wheelchair user, whilst I understand customer's not picking the dogs up it was a pretty pointless visit, the dogs are not really interested in coming over to you unless you have treats, you need to be able to sit on the floor to have any contact with the dogs, staff around did pick the dogs up so we asked if they could come over so the little girl we were with could see them, this didn't really happen so we were quite disappointed in the lack of interaction staff could have had with her, we found it a little bit theatrical and awkward...

Omg!! The best place to visit if you’re looking for a good time. The dogs are so interactive and kind and the staff are very inclusive. Love this place so much!! The food is great for a quick snack!

The dogs were not interested in anyone until they were given treats. Didn't like being stroked. So I would recommend if you just want to go for a cup of tea and to 'see' a dog. Cups were dirty upon serving, the scones were overpriced considering they were bitesized. However, staff were clear with instructions and polite.

It was okay, it would have been better if we had single bookings. A lot of people in the group I was in where all in the dogs faces whilst they slept. Food was overpriced for what it was and it’s no good if you have social anxiety as I don’t really want to sit on the floor with strangers just to get my moneys worth. If you just went in and got coffee and then just had the dogs wandering about it probably would have been better.

A delightful way to spend an hour with my daughter, friendly staff and very nice food and drinks. You can play with the dogs and give them treats. You can book online with a small deposit and then pay in cafe. A must if your a dog lover😀

This is a gorgeous place! The dogs are so cute and well-behaved. The brownie is to die for and our coffees were delicious. The girls running it are so friendly and helpful. Lush way to spend an afternoon. Wear comfy clothes so you can sit on the beanbags!

My mam took me here for my birthday yesterday. It was fantastic. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The prices were all reasonable and the staff were superb. All of the dogs were so stinkin' CUTE! They were well behaved and so friendly, and each had their own personality. The rules were fair and clearly explained, and it was great fun to be able to sit and have coffee and get down to their level to play with and pet them. The soft music playing in the background was a great touch, it wasn't too loud, it created a friendly atmosphere but it wasn't overbearing. We were provided with treats to give to them at the end and I was even given a birthday cake for my birthday which was a lovely touch. The store at the end was great too with the usual bits like keyrings, badges and other stuff featuring the dogs. It was clean and didn't smell like dogs at all. The clean venue, soft music, friendly staff, super cute dogs and yummy food all came together to make a quaint atmosphere and overall sublime experience. Could not have asked for a better way to spend my birthday, defo would recommend.

My recent visit to the dog cafe was just amazing. The staff impressed me with their politeness and clear instructions, ensuring a seamless start by directing us to our table and reminding us not to pick up the dogs. The hot chocolate was delicious and fantastic price. Towards the end of my visit, I was pleasantly surprised to be given treats to engage with the dogs, which added an extra dimension of fun. The dogs seemed to enjoy their time there and they were really well-behaved and adorable. It's a small and clean cafe with approximately half a dozen tables and a pleasant peaceful atmosphere. Excellent location. Overall, it was an excellent experience that I wholeheartedly recommend.

After reading about the cafe and seeing all the photos of people cuddling dogs I was really excited to visit. Unfortunately, the ‘do not knock’… ‘no admittance until your booking time’…and the broken front window didn’t make the most inviting welcome. On entering we were told we weren’t allowed to pick up the dogs at all, instead we had to sit on the floor if we wanted to interact with them. My daughter spent 30 minutes trying to entice a dog over to her with no luck. After 30minutes we were given treats to feed the dogs which did make them more sociable. The cafe is clean and the staff were friendly but as a family of 6, paying £6 to enter the cafe, after a coffee and cake each we faced a £50 bill!!! An absolute rip off. I won’t be going again!!!

Visited this place 6 years ago and was a very different experience. This visit was much more muted. It was nice to see some of the older dogs, whom we saw before (mumu and sugar) as well as some of the newer faces. All the dogs are of lovely temperament but having gone late in the afternoon, onthis occasion, it was much more apparent how exhausting the day is for the dogs. Relative to 6 years ago, the level of interaction that can be had with the dogs is also different, though this is perhaps for the best, you can no longer hold these dogs, and they take very little interest in you unless you are feeding them. The whole experience was very muted and deceptively disappointing.

The dog and scone is absolutely fantastic, the staff were amazing we had lily and katie on the day and they made the experience a 12/10. They were so lovely and kind and they are great at their job. It felt like a little family they made us feel very comfortable and the dogs absolutely love them. Would highly recommend to anyone and would definitely go again!❤️

Brilliant date location! The dogs are so sweet and appear well loved. All the customers respected the dog’s boundaries, leaving them alone when they wanted to sleep. Super lovely staff, and obviously the dogs are fantastic. I had an amazing time :)

We came all the way from Leeds to visit Dog and Scone and it was well worth the 200 mile round trip! Having visited cat cafes before I was expecting it to be packed and noisy but it was the polar opposite. It's a small cafe with about half a dozen tables and the place had a lovely quiet vibe (perhaps helped by having no young children around). The food and drink offering was great (fantastic coffee!) and the staff were absolutely lovely. Of course everyone comes for the dogs and they were fantastic - really happy and well cared for and completely loving the strokes and attention they were getting. All in all, a really wholesome fun experience. We will definitely be back!

Had a lovely time with my daughter at the dog and scone. We were particularly impressed with the girl who works there called Rosie. She delivered a very friendly, helpful and professional session. She made sure everyone got the chance to interact with the dogs and we loved how the dogs absolutely adore her. Can’t wait to go back.

My 3rd time coming to Dog And Scone Cafe, and I absoloutely love it. The dogs are absoloutely cute! The cafe is relaxing. Good selection of food and drinks. The staff are very friendly. I’m not from Newcastle, but I’d love to be a regular there😁

I have been here multiple times over the years. Recently they have had fewer dogs than before. The older and more approachable ones are retired now, but I still like it. They will show you a chart of doggies' names, will let you hold them for a bit (but you have to wait for your turn), and give you food to feed them. They also started sailing dog-themed products which is nice. Their tea and scones are good and affordable. It’s a nice place to chill with cute doggies and some other dog lovers.

I absolutely loved this little cafe! Perfect spot for a date or nice outing with friends and family. The staff were all lovely and welcoming, and the atmosphere was very calming. I would definitely like to return in the future :)

Firstly the staff are super friendly. Great customer service,couldn't fault that at all.the coffee was amazing The dogs were all very cute,I especially loved momo The only problem is I feel some if not all the dogs could do with a few hours break mid afternoon just to get away from constant touching or handling. They just looked knackered Apart from that it was a great experience

Im a wheelchair user and tried to pop in when passing to see if they were accessible. I couldn’t get to the door so had to tap on window after ten minutes of trying to get their attention through the glass. The lady was incredibly rude and not at all helpful. She also told me off for tapping on window, but im literally in a wheelchair and couldn’t get to the door.. I’ve heard really bad things about the staff and this has confirmed this. Very very rude and won’t be visiting.

This is our second visit to the dog and scone cafe. What a fab concept, my daughter and myself love it here. Great open, clean space. Very relaxed atmosphere. The dogs are fab, each with their own unique personalities. It is clear the dogs enjoy their days here with no pressure on them. Great coffee chocolate milk and toast is too. Thankyou. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Visited today with my two daughters, we were given a speech before we went in about do’s and dont’s which was fine. Once inside we were encouraged to sit on floor to engage with the dogs, which was a good idea I thought. But if I’m honest One of the staff members was a bit rude and didn’t speak very well to the dogs, My daughter was stroking Noodle and had been waiting extremely patiently for her to come over to her on her own accord only to have this staff member call her name seconds after she sat next to her and while she was busy stroking her!! To dress her up!! you could tell she didn’t like it and the staff member did say whilst putting the clothes on her that she didn’t like it but continued anyways!! Also One of the dogs yuki looked extremely anxious and could tell he wasn’t enjoying the experience which wasn’t very nice we just felt really sorry for her! Not sure if I would visit again.

i come here quite frequently and cannot recommend this place enough! the dogs are always adorable and the staff are always super friendly and lovely! i always recommend coming in the afternoon so the dogs are even more cuddly

Hot drinks and food served fresh, hot & quickly. But for the main event the DOGS!! They are all so super well behaved and gorgeous, our fav time was treat time. I must say tho we were very disappointed to be refused lap cuddles after seeing all social media posts and even in your house rules states lad cuddles are allowed if staff were to pick them up and there’s even blankets to protect your clothes for this but we were told no when we asked and were so looking forward to it and one of the reasons we came

Really affordable, and friendly staff. Food was great too! Everything is very clean and although the dogs weren’t quite affectionate the staff did try and involve every dog that they could to come sit/ be held by me. The dogs meet hundreds of people everyday so can’t really expect them to want to be touched all the time which is totally understandable. Like that each dog has its own personality, fell in love with with Sugar and of course noodle 🩵

First and foremost dogs are very cute and playful so if you are coming just for them then it is worth it. I wasn't expecting much from the food and drink with the dogs being the main attraction and all but to my surprise they were actually very nice and I would strongly recommend the hot chocolate to anyone coming here. I think this place is well worth an hour of your time and I would, and indeed have came back again.

I used to love dog and scone, coming at least once or twice a month for the 3 years I was a student in newcastle. However, when we came on Valentine’s Day I was extremely disappointed. I know there are rules in place to protect the dogs, but I was spoken to very condescendingly and rudely by a member of staff when my boyfriend (who was sat opposite me) tried to pass me the dog he was holding (as after nearly 35 minutes, we’d had the same one dog at the table and I hadn’t even held one yet). The dog was perfectly happy to be held and wasn’t struggling whatsoever during the transition. I was quite loudly yold ‘you’re not allowed to switch the dogs round’ which actually drew the attention of everyone else in the cafe. Unfortunately we ended up sat with the little Pomeranian on a chair next to our table for most of the session which, while she is very cute, isn’t really the reason people come. I feel like the staff don’t really create an environment where you feel welcome to get on the floor with the dogs, or ask to have them rotated. The staff used to be lovely but unfortunately I felt quite patronised and embarrassed. Likewise the drinks (2 hot chocolates) were lukewarm at best and the brownie was extremely dry. It’s sad to see a venue I used to like so much go downhill so much. Unfortunately I won’t be returning.

I personally think a few more dogs are needed though as a few were not sociable at all or seemed bored or tired of the attention by the afternoon, maybe they need their "working" hours reducing. Also be aware that if you order food then you can't have the dogs near you whilst you are eating which reduces the time you can have with the dogs.

Moved to Newcastle recently and have started going here regularly. Always a great experience. The dogs are adorable and all have their own little personalities. You can tell they are loved and they love the staff too. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I really can’t recommend it enough. Did I mention the amazing cheese toasties?

You should visit it. Anyone who knows a little bit about animals know they are wild animals and anything can happen.

Awful experience at the Dog and Scone today. We visited for the first session of the day. We were told before we entered not to pick up the dogs and let them come to us but what we witnessed was the only two staff on the floor constantly hyping the dogs up to play and creating quite a stressful situation for dogs and customers. The dogs were very very nervous in general which is not what you’d expect if they’re around people. Not sure why the dogs weren’t left to just wander around peacefully. A scuffle broke out with two dogs and one of the dogs was picked up and slapped to ‘punish’ it before it was shut in a back room. 5 mins later it was back on the floor and less than 2 minutes later it went straight back for the smallest dog on the floor and the fight picked up again. The two staff couldn’t break the fight up, it was absolutely chaos and the dogs were clearly injured, rushed through the back still locked jaws onto eachother. One of the staff emerged a minute later after taking the dogs away crying - injured trying to split it up? Dog killed the other one? No idea. Four customers left at this point. I understand dogs fight but to not be experienced in breaking up dog fights is not acceptable if you own this kind of business. Horrendous environment and as a dog owner I can quite clearly see these dogs are not comfortable in this environment. They couldn’t handle the dogs, never mind the cafe environment of hot drinks and food.

I had booked one space by mistake, the place had so much room, the table i was sat at was for two people and wouldn't let me bring my second guest in so turned him away absolutely shocking.

I love everything about this place. I am Autistic and the dogs are like therapy for me. I love the lighting of the place and the quiet relaxing music as it really is Autism friendly. The latte's are delicious and the sessions are well structured. If you love dogs like me then go ! 😁

It was ok, expensive for drinks and food when you already paid to visit but ok if you like dogs. It was very clean and the dogs where friendly but floppy. I think early in the day would be better as by 4pm in the after the dogs where clearly ready to clock off for the day. Woof!

Overall we had a nice afternoon at the cafe but it was a little underwhelming. We went later in the afternoon and it seemed like the dogs were really fed up (understandably to be honest!). Sometimes the dogs seemed distressed and the staff were deliberately winding them up. I would say if you are going to go then to go earlier in the day as I would think that's why the dogs were the way there were.

we have been here twice now and both times its been lovely! delicious food and drinks. i only knocked off a star because one of the staff members was a little bit rude and told people to hurry up paying and expected people to know how the place worked. the first time a lady ran the session better (explaining rules and talking to people) and allowed everyone to get a bit of attention from the dogs. but it did seem like the dogs didn’t want to be touched. also the entry fee has increased by £2 with no drink included, which i understand but seems a little steep considering it’s quite often fully booked. i absolutely love the place and concept, just feel like it could be run a bit better for the dogs sake’s.

Lovely and friendly place to go and get some love from cute furbabbies, they are all too cute to not give a try when you are in newcastle.

Our family love this place. The small dogs are delightful and it is a pleasure to cuddle and play with them. A great environment to enjoy a drink and snack. Booking is essential as only a dozen visitors allowed at a time. You have just under an hour. Small children are not allowed however - there is an age/height limit.

We had the loveliest time at Dog and Scone. It's a lovely relaxed environment for the dogs, and the staff are incredible. They are really aware of the dogs' needs whilst also making sure every guest gets some quality dog cuddles. We had toasties and drinks which were lovely, and really added to the experience. We will definitely be back again one day.
