Ordered at 6.30 for arrival at 7.45. Called at 8.15 and received apology and 'we will send that out now' ... so it hadn't even left . Was delivered at 8.45. One of the mains was in the wrong sauce. Naan bread not delivered. Won't order again.

What can i say. Yesterday i went there with my wife and two close friends. When we got there, we where greeted by the friendliest of waiters we ever saw. At the table, we where presented with a menu filled with goodness. We just couldnt decide what to get! But, I knew what i wanted though, and that was... Vindaloo. But! I wanted the real deal. Whenever i go to a Indian restaurant, i ask for Vindaloo. As spicy as the insides of a vulcano, but still flavoured with the wonderfull tastes of India. Its a test to see if the cook knows what he's doing. So i asked the waiter, for a hot Vindaloo. Not the general weak stuff all the others dared to give me... I wanted, to be tantelised. To be chalanged and to be really pleased, if only just for once in getting what i've bin asking for, for years and years now. And thats to get, a real, mindblowingly hot, flavourfull plate of pure skill, craft and a fiery love for good food by a Cheff who knkws what heat lovers need. The waiter didnt hesitate for a moment and ran to the kitchen. "We've got a massively hot Vindaloo lover, do your thing Cheff!" is what he must have said. When the food arived, i took my first bite....... and i felt my tongue jump for joy!!! My lips started tingeling, my forhead got wet from instant sweating, my eyes turned red and tears started to run down my face and i coukdnt speak for a few moments. Yes... i finally found it. I found a Vindaloo, to die for...!!! So i ate and ate till my tummy got full of burning excitement. But alas... i ate to quick, and so, my stomach clenched up and i was full before i could eat it all. I asked for a doggybag, so i coukd eat the rest at home... for breakfast! The waiter was surpised for this request, but he made sure i could enjoy it the very next day again with even more spice to enjoy it even more and more and more... and so i did. This morning, i opened the bag, and i discovered that the cheff topped the casing up with even more meat to enjoy. My Gods... i think i just died and went to heaven folks. Such good food, such lovely people, such a great Cheff. When we get back here in Mansfield, we know what we want. And thats the best food you can get. So dont think anymore, and get a table here. You will not regret it. 😉 Much love guys.

The food and service is out of this world. Great service, great staff, great food. After perusing the menu each time for the past 12 years I have the Chicken Tikka Manchurian...epic. Can't beat a quick pint of kingfisher whilst waiting. Don't tell the wife I have a pint....she just thinks you're always late 😂

Booked a table for 7, eventually got food by 8.30 after asking!! All they are interested in is takeaway orders and leave customers waiting but spending money on drinks, will not return any time soon

Amazing meal! Having visited Modu a few times, we had been recommended the pre ordered whole leg of lamb! For 5 of us to share, this was loads of meat and plenty of sides- we ordered more (just for preference) but ended up boxing up loads to bring home! Fabulous- will definitely order again!! Thank you!

Came in for first time tonight as I have been struggling to find good curry near me. Service was excellent and had food recommended to us to try. Very rare you get service as good at a restaurant and the food was absolutely amazing, will definitely be going again soon

Been going to modhu for years now and it never disappoints. The food is absolutely gorgeous,staff are amazing. New updated menu highly recommend trying it out.

I pre-ordered my food for 5PM (via website and got the receipt)and i reached there at 5:05 and they never realised that we have ordered. Nobody was ready to look into this until we asked a few times. Then someone came and took a while to sort it out and they asked us to order it again in till. We had to wait for another 20 minutes to get our food. In the meantime they already gave food to the people who came for collection after us. They didn’t even have the minimum courtesy to say sorry

First time visiting, and was impressed. Friendly staff and a newly renovated restaurant. Great dips with our poppadums, very nice pickle and mint sauce. Starters were onion bhaji’s which were great. Mains were chicken tikka jalfrezi, which was good and spicy, and chicken tikka curry. Lovely rice and garlic naan. Highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in Mansfield.

This has been our favourite Indian restaurant in Mansfield for the last couple of years. We’ve not been for a couple of months but tonight’s meal was as good as ever. Yes, the set menu has increased in price but it is still great value. The food is delicious, portions generous, great presentation and the staff are always friendly. There were a few new dishes on the menu which we tried and enjoyed!! This place still hits the spot and I can’t recommend this place enough!!

The food LOOKED excellent , albeit I’ve not seen the kitchen where it’s prepared & cooked.. The toilet & disabled facilities are DISGUSTING.. This evening I took a disabled friend with me to the restaurant for a meal, after having popedom starters & 2 glasses of water, my friend needed the toilet.. When I asked where the disabled toilets are, I was told, we don’t have any, but my friend could use the staff toilets on the ground floor, as the public toilets were up a steep flight of stairs on the first floor.. My friend waited next to the owner near their toilets for 10 minutes for his staff to clean the toilets before allowing him entry.. After waiting so long I complained & was told their toilets are still not ready yet as they need further cleaning.. After 20 minutes my friend embarrassingly wet himself in the restaurant, because they have NO DISABLED FACILITIES. This ruined our evening.. Under DDA 1993 & subsequent editions, they should have disabled toilet facilities.. The restaurant has had numerous refits since the 1993 introduction of DDA. The restaurant owner informed me that MDC Mansfield District Council have agreed that they DO NOT HAVE TO CATER FOR THE DISABLED & his offer to use the STAFF ONLY toilets on the ground floor, was a gesture of good will.. I raised my concerns to the owner who got very aggressive & threatening, i was told leave otherwise I would be attacked.. I will be raising this with MDC Chief Executive during the coming week.. I’ve added a few photos, of the disgusting, stinking & unhygienic state of the customer toilets on the first floor… unfortunately I wasn’t allowed in the kitchens to see how the food was prepped & cooked…. Make your own mind up what the kitchens & prep area are like… Will I go back.. NOT A CHANCE.. This restaurant should have its Hygiene certification removed with immediate effect. This restaurant should also be closed with immediate effect & not allowed to reopen until the relevant hygiene & DDA rectification works are carried out in line with current regulations.

Dirty Filthy place.. if the management takes care of the kitchens like they do the toilets.. God help us.. I took my disabled friend this evening, having been told they had disabled toilets under DDA.. They have No Disabled facilities & the abled facilities are disgusting.. Filth is the only way to describe.. So upset my disabled friend wet himself in the restaurant While I was threatened by the owner saying no disabled allowed..

I have never tasted a lamb Ceylon curry like it!. The meat was perfectly tender and the flavour was outstanding. When you order a Ceylon you expect spice and this did not disappoint I was literally sweating by the end (in the best way possible 😂) portion size was fantastic. Would highly recommend the garlic rice as well! Delivery was early! Best Ceylon I have ever tasted! ❤️ Thankyou sirs!

Fantastic food being coming here for years

Heard so many good reviews of the food decided to order for delivery. It finally came after just short of 2hrs. The tarka Dahl was nice, lamb dupiazi was OK, but the chicken tikka main was so bland and dry could only stomach 2 pieces, as for the bombay aloo it was just like eating normal potatoes . We have eaten at so many establishments and had indian takeouts and this one fell really short.

It’s been many years since we visited this restaurant and how has it changed. Chutney trays used to be great, but no longer. The main course appeared to be immersed in red food colouring, but the taste was non descript. Gone was the carefully mixed spice taste - it was now pretty tasteless, but very red. Then we went to the toilet. Oh dear. A rolled up carpet blocked the stairs. The handrail was grubby and the stair and landing carpet leading to the toilet was filthy. Will we go again? Possibly. Will it be within the next five years? Definitely, no!

Visited on New Year’s Eve with wife and two 15 year olds. Pre booked and a good job because the place was very busy. Not been here in 20 years as it was the place our Christmas work outing used go to for a meal out. Restaurant is modern and has a nice feel. Seated promptly, drinks ordered and browsed menu. There is a 4 course deal advertised on the front of the menu for £23.50 (and this was on). Service was slow but there were a lot of deliveries going out and we weren’t in a rush anyway. Ordered: X4 popadoms and chutney/pickle tray X4 starters X4 curries X2 pilau rice X2 chips X4 naan breads X3 ice cream X1 coffee X3 pints of lager X6 cokes All in bill was £145. The food was excellent as were the portion sizes. We all had different dishes and we were all stuffed by the time we had finished. 2 baileys free as an apology for the wait on food but we said we didn’t mind as sometimes restaurants rush to get you out. Overall, excellent food and polite staff. Would recommend.

Nice buffet on the last Sunday of the month. This was an impromptu visit and worked out perfectly. Lovely staff very friendly. Toilets a bit of a trek but that can't be helped due to size and shape of the building. Recommended

Not used the Modhu for a while, so over the past few months I’ve now had 3 takeaways, the first was to see how it faired up from my last venture as I must say was a while ago and I wasn’t that pleased after being a regular for 30 odd years from when it started out. I’ve now had 3 top quality takeaways, the standard of the food took me back to the days when it first opened, If you want an quality Indian this is the place to go. Well done all at the Modhu, you have stepped up to the plate. I’ll be back for more, top quality madras for me and a chicken shashlik for my wife. See you all soon xx

Lovely food great service. Decided to go for a ruby whilst away at centre parcs and read a good review for this place so took a chance. Looked nice inside and clean. Sat down very quiet Tuesday night. Service was excellent food was excellent. Very pleased I would highly recommend

Terrible service. Waited over an hour for a starter and then 40 minutes for the main course. Twice I had to ask when our food would be coming. This place needs to decide whether it’s a restaurant or a takeaway. We saw loads of takeaway’s going out and I think the restaurant customers have to wait because of this. The food was nice but not very hot. Will not be visiting again.

Ordered a takeaway online this afternoon (at about 2pm) for collection this evening at 7.10pm. New Years Eve. Text message at 6.55pm to say the order has been cancelled. Tried to call the restaurant several times but just getting engaged time so I suspect the phone is off the hook! Shocking behaviour. No way to treat people who have been regular customers in the past. I know NYE is busy but surely when you get the the restaurant this afternoon to start prepping for the evening that is when you should have let me know. Not 15 minutes before our collection time. Luckily the staff at the Chand restaurant just up the road couldn’t have been more helpful. We know where to go in the future.

So over the weekend we have visited Modhu Mitha on Racliffe Gate in Mansfield not far from the town centre. 8 of us and we all had a starter and main apart from 1 who didn’t fancy a starter total cost £238.28 so roughly £29 each. Service between ordering our first drink and receiving our starter was really really slow probably a ploy to get us to drink and spend more on 🍺. Hot Meat Purée starter was very nice, nice chunks of meat the purée sauce texture ans flavour was 👌. Main Course I ordered a Lamb Madras (Vindaloo Hot), now I normally a Phall which is hotter way hotter than a vindaloo but this Madras was inedible it was that hot only managed a plate full it was stupidly hot and not very spicy or flavoursome. The chips as you can see in the photo were not cooked the best and tasted like they wasn’t cooked properly in fact they looked anemic. Keema Rice, was not nice it was greasy which I find not very nice, big portion though. We had 2 Poppadoms each, they gave us 2 lots of lime pickle and 2 lots of mixed onions between 8 of us which was placed 1 pot of lime pickle at either end of the table so if you was sat anywhere near the middle of table then you missed out, So some missed out on some of the dips in the pickle tray. Overall I wouldn’t go back, too pricey for my liking and the food doesn’t match the price tags on the menu. For £29 each that would be £58 if a couple went out there’s far better and cheaper Indian restaurants in the area such as Waterlilly and Victoria Tandoori. Overall score 6/10 Staff then took ages to bring us the bill after 3 different people in our group had asked at 3 different times.

Having visited on numerous occasions, sit in and takeaway the quality of food is fantastic. The atmosphere and friendliness when dining in is second to none. The chef will tweak your meal to your requirement s Value for money! Top tip, real ale pub, Brown Cow and ghen a stroll for a fantastic meal...

Orderd to be delivered at 18.30 turned up at 17.40 had the tandoori mixed grill awfully lamb chop well I think it was all bone no meat burnt also orderd keama rice really greasy that bad had to leave that also peshawar nan so dry it fell to bits will never oder from here again

Been to this restaurant many times, had many takeouts but never again! The 15% discount was a joke, it was definitely the weekends leftovers!! Meat was like rubber, sauce watery and tasteless, total rip off!

After ordering the food we were told it would 40 minutes (which wasn't a problem as we took it as a sign the place is popular) I return after 40 minutes, only to wait another 20 minutes, which was frustrating, but not the end of the world. After driving home I find they've totally missed off the naans. I drive all the way back again and ask where they are. The lady at the front took my order, never apologised and 10 minutes later I had to grab another worker and ask where things were. Again, he disappeared, with no commentary and came back with my order. He checked everything was there and that was that. No sorry your order will be warm now, sorry we didn't put your naans in, sorry you had to drive home and back three times, nothing. The icing on the cake was when I got home, the meal I asked to be phall heat, was mild and not spicy at all. The food tastes lovely,I have total faith they did a good job cooking. It just feels they are too popular to give a toss about manners. When your well known around Mansfield for good food, you don't need to listen to orders or apologise Awesome food. Apathetic, uncommunicative, unapologetic staff. If they don't mess up your order, you'll have a superb meal, if they get it wrong, they don't care.

On Saturday we ordered a take away. The whole experience was shambolic and whoever I spoke to was extremely rude. First of all my money was taken twice, the order took over two hours to arrive and then we received a wrong curry. My wife was first to ring and was verbally abused. So I rung and after a brief conversation whoever I was speaking to told be to f@@k off twice and then hung up on me. I am 56 years old and have never witnessed anything like this. I acknowledge things go wrong from time to time but to be abused like this is an utter disgrace. We have used this business many times in the past but never again. They will not get another penny from me

I have used this restaurant for years both takeaways and eat in..,we ordered tonight 3 curry’s etc one paying extra for vegetarian Paneer. Firstly the meal was charged twice. Upon calling the rude person said well if you order it twice we take it twice’!! We didn’t the app said it hadn’t worked? It arrived 2 hours after I had a text saying it was out for delivery.. when it arrived my vegetarian son started eating his to realise it was prawn?? Good job he had no allergy’s ??We called to let themKnow.. the young lady was very polite and I could here her conversation saying she had wrote the order clearly Paneer.,, when I said lucky my son didn’t have an allergy she passed me onto the rudest individual. Because I had said I had also overheard conversations as I was waiting he was so abusive . Swearing throughout. He finished by saying do you want your f***** curry or not and send your f******* husband round here we will be waiting. I assume whoever is answering your phones is not the owner and therefore not doing your business a lot of good. We won’t be ordering or when lockdown is over be visiting.

I ordered food which i was told could take 50 mins. The resturant then said 1 hour 30 mins. Still ok with me until it was late. My son was leaving for work so would miss his meal. Called the resturant and they said it would be another 25 mins. Ended up raising my voice to the ignorant owner who was very rude and wouldnt listen and said the longer i stayed on the phone the later the food will be, i ended up cancelling the order and getting my money back. If they would have said to start with delivery was going to be 2 hour i would have gone elsewhere to start with as i knew my son wouldnt have been able to have any.I spend around £1k per year in this resturant but i will never use again!

We visited Modhu Mitha again yesterday after such a miserable year - it had been nearly a year since our last visit. The lads are usually efficient and polite and yesterday was no exception. The food was amazing. We both tried something slightly different to normal and were very pleasantly surprised. The Staff weren't deterred by the use of Tastecard either. We'll definitely be back - one of our favourite 'sit-down' Indian restaurants.

Normally my favourite Indian in Mansfield but this has made me think again where I will be going in future. I ordered a tandoori mix grill £12.95 and this is what I received 😡 A total rip off

Ordered at 19:40, delivery was due at 20:25.. came at 21:20. This was after trying to contact the restaurant to be told 'sorry can't connect your call.' Used the app to request info and got told it would be us at 21:05. Food arrived. Chips and several other items were cold. Garlic nann had never been garlic, or maybe would've tasted garlic if they weren't burnt to a crisp. Ordered veg samosa, was given meat samosa. Actual curries were nice. Not what u expect when you pay nearly £40 for a takeaway (luckily I didn't pay this as got some discount, but still!!)

Servicio absolutamente vergonzoso! ! Pedimos una comida para llevar que tardó 2 horas en llegar después de que nos dijeron que solo tomaría una hora. Llamamos al restaurante para perseguir la orden y nos dijeron que había salido del restaurante, pero 20 minutos después todavía no había llegado (vivimos a un máximo de cinco minutos), tardó otros 20 minutos en llegar y cuando lo hizo. finalmente llegó la comida estaba helada! El personal en el teléfono fue grosero! NUNCA volveré a usar este restaurante de nuevo y recomendaría a otros que no lo usen tampoco. ¡Vergonzoso!
