Maybe a Thursday lunchtime not the best time to judge a large pub that has, perhaps, had better days. A big place that lacked atmosphere. The staff were efficient and polite but, being part of a chain, the pub lacked the personal touch of a landlord with an interest in the place and his customers. The bar staff. with "STAFF' on their backs kinda summed it up. The food was very reasonably priced and perfectly okay, but not exceptional. Had to wait a while, probably caused by another customer sending back their burger - which was dealt with sympathetically and efficiently. Toilets were clean and tidy. A good stopping off place if you are passing by.

What a lovely meal. The fish was more like a whale! The servers were all lovely and friendly but in particular Codie who went out of her way to sort an issue we had with our payment. She was a real credit to Marstons!

I found this amazing county pub whilst staying in the area for a short while. This is a very clean, efficiently run gastro pub with very welcoming and friendly staff. It has a wonderful eclectic gallery of pictures past and present, including the statue of the innovative Rowland Hill who brought the postage stamp into the postal service, which today still thrives 184 years years later. I was served by 2 wonderful attentive ladies ( Codie and Caycee) who went above and beyond to make sure my evening went well and made me feel comfortable and relaxed. This is a wonderful place to unwind, and the ambience is heavenly. You are equidistant from many locations that you would most likely visit in the area. (I would name them, but there are so many) and would be a perfect stop off for lunch or an evening meal. If you find yourselves passing through Hartlebury, then call in, relax, eat, or have a refreshing drink. You really would not be disappointed.

This place had a poor reputation in the past but under new management it has become a very popular spot for very good food, well presented by friendly and helpful staff, it can only continue to succeed if it has our patronage.

We had a very enjoyable evening dining with family and friends, celebrating two birthdays. The food and drinks were good and we received excellent service from Teagun.

On a spur of the moment decision to go for lunch. We decided to stay local for a change. I am so glad that we did! Under new management, and what an improvement. Great staff, great food, very welcoming, and very reasonably priced. Few people in number, but once word gets about this place will be thriving. Went with my husband and daughter. Staff were lovely very helpful, food was great and there was a DJ playing music in the background which made a nice change. Food arrived in good time and we weren’t sat waiting. Will be going back would definitely recommend 😊

Arrived for prebooked mothers day menu 3 courses £21.50 . Arrived asked for the menu told "no we are not doing that" false advertising was not happy huge queue at bar .when asked to speak to manager was told they were in kitchen and couldn't come out offered to discount food however no roast available bad organisation. Walked out will not be visiting again !!

I come here every month for lunch with my Grandma. It’s our favourite place! Staff, food, cleanliness are all alway exceptional. Emma served us today and was brilliant.

Visited yesterday for a catch up with my friend, can’t thank Jade enough she actually wanted to make conversation with us you don’t really get that now a days! Food was lovely it was served hot and presented well. We will definitely be returning .

Went here for a quiet lunch on a day off with my wife. Lexi & Jade are welcoming and convivial hosts. The food was good quality, generous portions, reasonably pricedand served with a smile but don't take my word for it go try it yourself.

This place have has been our go to at least once a week for a good value for money meal. Unfortunately todays meal was awful which is such a shame . Most of the staff are lovely, attentive and friendly, except for the young man who cleared our table who was arrogant and quite frankly , rude . Menu has changed too which is a shame too . Good things too good to last I guess

Came on the off chance as the local pub we normally visit down road was closed unfortunately! Definitely would not recommend or return, arrived the sign says please wait to be seated was not a single member of staff around so after 5 minutes decided to seat ourselves pub was pretty much empty, went to toilet which were dated and un pleasant left us unsure wether to even eat here we decided to just stay as had already drove 30 mins and been let down at previous pub, wish we’d of left now. Ordered via QR code on table drinks came pretty quick but glass was filthy so had to get a fresh drink opted for a straw this time to be safe as place just didn’t feel clean at all. Waited 50 minutes for 2 of the same mains and childrens nuggets and chips. Brought out the children’s and side of under cooked garlic bread, beans on children’s meal were dried had obviously been sat under heat lamp. Fries tasted like they’d been cooked in dirty oil was dreading receiving our mains, ate our sides before even receiving mains as were that delayed daughter had finished eating by time we got our mains which I had to go to the bar to see what had happened as it was coming upto a hour now for 2 simple dishes got told the waiter had given it to the wrong table received our food of hunters chicken missing onion rings again fries and chips in edible 🤢 lady did apologise explaining waiter will be told not to get wrong table again but this wasn’t our problem and after a hour with a young child waiting for food in a absolutely dead pub was ridiculous. Got offered desserts but declined as just wanted to get out of there to be honest, this is a let down to marstons pubs. Felt dirty. Wouldn’t recommend at all

Poor customer service. We ordered drinks at the bar and were told they only accepted blue light card on food. Fair enough. We sat at our table and went to the bar to order food. I showed my blue light card and was then asked for another form of ID to prove the card was mine, even though I showed it on the app on my phone. Again a bit of hassle but I showed my bank card. After all that they still didn't apply the blue light discount!! When I queried this I was told they were sorry but there was nothing they could do now, they could not cancel the transaction and refund me or apply the discount! Food was mediocre and customer service shocking! I will stick to our local Marston's in Worcester in future where customer service is better, food is better and I have never had an issue with my blue light discount being applied!

Initially overcharged at the till as 'Lighter Bites' had been ignored. Price of soft drinks is appalling .. £3.80 for a large Pepsi Max is outrageous with no refill offer. Doesn't matter how good the food is when the drinks are so over-priced. Things need to change before I come back!

We were celebrating a freinds birthday booked table we were greeted all smiles and we asked if they would keep birthday cake behind bar would they light candals and. Ring it out after main meal which they did all the staff were helpful freindly and polite and we all enjoyed our meals which we didn't wait long for I would deffo recommend to anyone to go try for themselves so big thumbs up from all of us x

Went on a family day out to the safari Park, and popped in here for something to eat on way home. Can't fault anything, staff were very attentive and food was delicious.

Excellent staff. Our first time here. We was only passing though and decided on the way back we would nip in for lunch and a drink in the beer garden as it looked nice. Met up with some friends for lunch. As we only wanted a snack we opted to have starters and a child’s meal for my young grandson. (I did have to ask for a child’s menu) Service was slow. Crunchy mushrooms were like cannonballs. Couldn’t get a fork in them. Child’s burger had been incinerated and was inedible. When the waitress eventually came to clear the table, we told her that we were less than impressed, although she should have realised this as both portions of mushrooms were virtually untouched. Her response? A smile and a shrug of her shoulders. On a positive, when staff did interact they were very friendly.

Just been for Sunday lunch. No turkey left, no gammon steak just had to pick something quickly because the waitress was stood over us. Garlic chicken with new potatoes, chicken was dry and they weren’t new potatoes. All in all was very disappointed.

We met here for lunch just after outside dining was allowed.Parents travelled from Bristol, I travelled from Shropshire.The food was ok, The service was ok, although one of the waitresses didn't wear a mask the whole time we were there.Customers left, tables were cleared but not once did I see a table being sanitised before other customers sat down.Definitely need to brush up on the hygiene side of things.I did email the manager about my concerns but haven't heard back which is why I'm leaving a review.

Always visit here after seeing Santa before Christmas.This year Tom phoned as due to Covid we could not have our usual big table for ten.He re booked us all in separately in our families near each other and we still had a lovely time.We all chose the festive meal which was excellent for the price,the chef even made us cauliflower cheese as a special request which was not on the menu this year.The wine was nice we had a massive bottle for just two of us as they had run out of the normal sized bottle.We would have had two bottles anyway.The staff were pleasant and efficient.We will of course book again for December this year closer to the time.Thanks to Tom and the staff.

Popped in on Sunday evening for a quick bite to eat, greeted by pleasant staff who explained the new Covid track and trace. Tables all cleaned down with social distancing observed. Ordered steak and ale pie and chicken in stilton and port sauce. Food was cooked very well, hot and delicious. Service was excellent, all staff extremely helpful and enthusiastic. Had a meal at this restaurant yesterday a carvery.Not very good meat tough yorkshire puddings burnt the couple on the next table ordered a starter and carvery it all came together they didn't no what too eat first.They sent their Yorkshire puddings back and asked for some fresh they came back the same so they were left.Not very good.

Stopped for lunch, we were reminded to gel our hands on entry by Thomas who showed it to a table and took our order. Stilton and port chicken lovely. Great service and good food.

A few days ago a group of us went in for a meal and drink. The food was pretty good...and the bar service friendly and the waitress ok. ..BUT..The main issue was the apparent lack of care or safety in a pandemic. I saw one customer wear a mask at the barthe rest did not and stood close to us....no staff did wear them at all even when serving us. No heat checks on entry as in many restaurants and social distancing was non existent..with people coming and going freely closely past us and standing around with no apparent concern at allfor anybody else....forget the 2 meter rule...albeit signs on the floor. Families allowing kids to run around uncontrolled past us at our table closely and we are pensioners..Not the pubs fault but they should tell them politely....Not very health conscious at all or reassuring I am afraid and the toilets were..well shall we say..iffy. Will not return ..well certainly not until they get their health act together.

What an awful experience.These Marstons Two-for-One pubs can be quite good (The Sun at Romsley is a good example), but this place was diabolical. We called in at about 6.30 on a quiet Saturday evening, there were plenty of empty tables.....all of them filled with the detritus of earlier diners/drinkers. We asked for a table and a pleasant girl cleared one for us but with a minimal hygiene regime considering the stringent rules that we're all supposed to be adhering to. My wife needed the loo but went in and came out again just as quickly. There were 2 cubicles one of which was messy with blood and the other with a urine covered seat. She reported it to the girl who had cleared our table and she had to go and attend to it herself. They were woefully understaffed. There was no table service (again at the Sun you can ONLY be served at the table at the present time), so I queued behind 1 lady at the bar to order. After 5 minutes or so there had been nobody at all behind the bar to serve. The young lady in front of me waited patiently and would still have been there now if I hadn't grabbed a guy who was clearing a table and asked him whether anyone was actually serving that day! He promptly went behind and served the lady then the young lass who'd cleared our table, then cleaned the loo's appeared behind the bar to serve me. At last I ordered and was told there was a half hour wait for food, despite the place being very quiet. My wife ordered Scampi, which, to be fair was fine. I ordered cod and chips however I think they must've mixed my order up with someone else's because what I got was a minnow! It was the smallest piece of cod I've ever seen served, way smaller than my local chippy would've classed as 'mini-fish'.By this time we just wanted to eat and go so although I should've complained about my meal I let it go.All in all a very poor experience and one which we shall definitely not be repeating. Avoid if you possibly can.

We went on the Eat out to Help out deal I know it’s 2 for one but the portions were so small, my sirloin steak came on a child’s size plate with no more than 15 chips and tinned peas which were flying off my plate because I didn’t have room to cut the steak! One of the meals got forgotten and the rest of us were almost half way through our meals before it arrived, my friends ordered a main course of buffalo cauliflower wings and they came on a tea plate there wasn’t Evan a quarter of cauliflower and this is a Main course !!normally priced at over £13.00 YES £13 pound I was disgusted, it looked to me like Half the price means half the amount of food. I have Never ever before gone to Macdonalds on my way home from a meal but my god I was still hungry. Normally I would complain but as it was so cheap I thought I wouldn’t bother, but to be honest they are still taking the handout from the government (£10) per person. I don’t believe they are the regular portion sizes? Half the price half the portion. Won’t go there again

I dont mind waiting a good half hour for food but when it comes out nearly cold !! Glad i only paid £6.50 for it because it certainly wasn't worth anymore than that

Used the Mitre Oak a few times and found the service to be a little bit hit and miss, sometimes waiting a little longer than we want for the food, but this could just be down to how busy it is. Food is reasonable priced and always found it to be tasty. Can be a little noisy at times

Best meal in a long time. It was busy and there was only one waitress. She was brilliant. She was getting all the meals out quickly and she was very professional, amazing. The one barman was also lovely,when he had time he was helping her out and we found him very welcoming and friendly.The staff are a credit to the place.

Had a smashing time here today food was amazing I had chicken tikka and the chicken was cooked perfectly hubby had steak which he said was amazing and the children had there kids meals overall we have had an amazing time and food the staff was lovely definitely recommend the mitre oak will definitely be going again 10/10 from us

The food is ok, it’s cheap and cheerful. The restaurant is filthy though! We sat in a window seat and the bench was covered in stains it made me feel sick. The carpet was filthy and threadbare- covered in dirt and dust. I wouldn’t return.

Booked in for Sunday lunch couldn't have been happier with our visit Sunday Dinners were spot on and very quick out the kitchen not long followed by everyone elses highly recommended for families

We regularly use this if we fancy saving on washing up duties on a Sunday, plenty of seating in different areas of pub allowing different sized groups to enjoy their meals , yes decor could be described as tired but it would cost a fortune to update a pub of this size and it would take a lorra lorra meals to subsidise that at the great prices they charge. We had the sunday burgers which were very different and a really nice change, wife had the vegetarian option which was a cauliflower and brie rosti, very nice apparently. One thing I really was impressed with was a guy was ordering a sunday lunch for himself and one of the brothers/landlords told him a way to order that would save him money , not many places do that . We've never left feeling we havent had vfm

This is one of a regular spots we attend and we love it this visit we took advantage of the current offer and used our vouchers for money of our bill cheap and cheerful for everyone to enjoy and plenty to choose from.

I telephoned to make a booking for 8 and use voucher but could only book for 6 then add 2 on doing it on line,I spoke to a very helpful man who sorted it for us,arrived this evening 23.1.20 sat down straight away and ordered,so much choice on menu but had off specials board,big breakfast burger and was gorgeous,service was excellent throughout,special mention to Luke who went that extra mile he couldn't do enough for us..will certainly be returning.

the place needs a good update, paint on walls & window sills all chipped.Food average, my steak was ok but the jacket potato was soggy & the onion rings more batter than onion & were difficult to cut.Staff seem to be reduced,used to get a waitress cone to the table to take drink & food order,now you have to go the bar to get your drinks & order your food.

Ordered burgers. Chips were barely warm. Beef burger was black. Coould taste burnt bits. The room was cold no radiators on. Atmosphere was non existent. Will definitely not be returning. Worst meal we have had in a long time.

Booked the Christmas meal for 10 people.Given a nice table by the window.The food was served promptly by pleasant staff.All three courses for everyone were very nice with good portion sizes.It was good to order extra sides for variety.If two bottles of wine were ordered you were given a discount.We took up this offer by ticking the order sheet.Both bottles were brought to the table but we asked for one bottle to be kept in the fridge until required.Unfortunately on paying for the bill we only gave it a quick glance and later noticed we had been charged full price for the wine.We will return but making sure we check the bill.

Loved the food and the service here. Was delighted with their vegan menu as am df. They were happy to add a portion of chicken at a v reasonable cost. Nothing too much trouble and great value

Had a Get together with some work colleagues enjoyed the food and wide selection of drinks at the bar it was rather busy and didn't realise till the end of the visit that there was a wedding reception at the one side of the pub staff apologised if it was loud but there real was no need as the service was fantastic 5*

A TABLE OF 9 AT THE MITRE OAK the food was great i went for the extra large turkey which was perfect all the meat and veg were spot on with 2 yorkshires and pigs in blankets .

The meals here are acceptable for people on the move , Nothing special just an ordinary pub serving acceptable food . The menu is a typical pub chain menue lik 10 otheres around kidderminster . As its on a main road its ideal for people on the move

Tables were ready when we arrived, helpful and very pleasant staff, even waited till the last member of our group went to order their food before placing the orders with the kitchen so we ate together , nice touch!

Visited on the Friday evening after setting up for the Worcester Fair. Traditional fare scampi and chips. Was warned of a 20 minute wait but in the event 12 minutes later piping hot delicious scampi and chips. Returned on the Saturday evening to a very different meal. Gammon and steak. No warning of delay - 35 minutes later after an enquiry it arrived. Hammond was incredibly salty - left on the plate. Steak was medium rather than rare and chips were lukewarm. Altogether a disappointing meal.

Popped in for a quick meal and coffee,food arrived nice and quickly and was piping hot,great value for money .

Went for lunch today...my good...my steak was cooked to perfection. 3 other adults dining and food was great...massive portion sizes. Friendly welcome from all staff.

Reserved a table for my nans birthday, a large family group. Menu extensive and good value! However service was awful, meals arriving willy nilly and not at the same time. Servers had no idea what they were serving. So we were all eating at different times. Then disaster struck, our two year old had exploded in the high chair, family frantically tried to clean the chair, the toddler and the bathroom from liquid poo. One server was rather rude about it after we informed them of the accident as they shouted “I’m not paid enough to do this job”. However the food was lovely and family seemed to enjoy it.

We visited the Mitre oak this evening with friends, we have visited here recently with other friends and the food was very nice indeed, the staff were very helpful and freindly and the atmosphere was very freindly,

Onderweg stopte we bij dit mooie gebouw om wat te eten. Het zag er buiten goed uit. Grote parkeerplaats. We zagen borden met een aantal menu’s buiten staan 2 voor de prijs van 1. Binnen was het ook groot met hier en daar leuke hoekjes maar niet sfeervol. Het duurde wel even voor de bediening kwam met de menukaart. Er stonden veel gerechten op en wij besloten een steak te nemen. Het duurde wel lang voor dat het eten kwam en we hadden onderhand wel trek gekregen. Nu de steak was niet te eten. Taai met vettukjes erin. Wat een domper. Bij het afrekenen bleek dat ook dit 2 voor de prijs van 1 was en niet zoals wij dachten alleen bepaalde gerechten. Dat was nog een gelukt bij deze waardeloze hap. Het lijkt wel of met van alles probeert om dit grote gebouw draaiend te houden.

To end a lovely weekend visit. We decided that we would enjoy a Sunday lunch out. Because we have passed this venue many times on our journey to visit relatives. On its on our route home. Also too far far our relatives to return to Stourbridge. This was our chosen venue.

We stopped here on our way home, 2 for 1 meals tempted us in. When we ordered my husband ordered scampi and I asked for liver,bacon and onions, I was informed that they had no bacon so were substituting it with onion rings? Not fancying an onion overdose I chose the chicken,cider and leek pie. Then for the drinks I asked for a Pepsi and was told they only had Pepsi max so I asked for a coffee, I didn't stipulate a particular coffee at the time nor was I asked so I assumed it would be black and be accompanied by a milk pot. When asked if I'd like sugar I replied '2 please, brown if possible '. I then asked 'it is black coffee isn't it? ' The young man replied 'no you asked for white ' when I replied that I had actually just asked for a coffee, the young man said 'no you asked for a white coffee 100%'. I replied 'I actually have a milk allergy so I know I hadn't stated a white coffee '. He then made me another coffee. Regardless of the fact I'd not stated which type of coffee I required I was surprised that the young man was argumentative with a paying customer. In all the reviews I have ever written I have never been challenged to what I have or have not ordered. The meals arrived at our table quickly and they both looked well presented, unfortunately upon cutting my pie it became apparent that it had been heated in a microwave, a big fail with pastries as I was now on a time limit to eat the pie before it became too 'chewy ' to eat. My husband stated that his scampi was ok and added 'you can't really mess up scampi '. Apologies for the long coffee saga but rule of thumb- don't be argumentative with customers. Think we will stop at an independent pub next time.

After returning from Cheltenham decided to pop in for drinks. Friendly staff, very roomy and comfortable place to eat and drink. Must make a point of coming back again soon.

Visited the Mitre Oak “twice” over the Bank Holiday,the weather was amazing so myself and the family decided to get out and go for some food and a few drinks ,as per usual the food was spot on, on time and nice and hot, the 2-4-1 is a great way of saving money especially when there’s 6 of us lol.the kids loved the slushy drinks,kept them quite most of the day.was fantastic out the back with the pub offering a huge bouncy castle,football goals with footballs etc etc,nice big gazebo too which kept the sun off us as it was rather hot lol.big thank you to the one member of staff who gave us my youngest a football for free to take home with us.SEE YOU SOON

a friend and i have just popped in for dinner. we had 2 sirloin steaks. cooked to perfection, but only paid for one. all main courses are 2 for 1. friendly staff, what more do you want?

It's a well-positioned dining pub for families travelling between Junction 6 of the M5 and Kidderminster. We have called here for lunch for many years. Mid-August 2019, we dropped by and unfortunately had to wait ages for the meal. The staff were lovely but rushed off their feet; the food, when it came, was great. When I later discussed the delay with the management, I was very happy with the response. Three days later, we revisited and I'm pleased to report we had excellent, prompt service, with delicious, hot meals- couldn't fault anyone or anything, second time around!

Stop by here on way to Telford. Nothing wrong with the staff they were very helpful. But ordered a simple lunch at 1.05 pm and didn’t get it to nearly 2pm. Place serves normal pub grub. It is cheap but my lunch was unpalatable. Toilets were grubby and the whole place could do with a spruce up. Shame really. Could be so much better

We popped in last Sunday for some Sunday Lunch tempted by the 2 Sunday Roast's for £12. Anyway we got there and immediately the staff were really friendly and the atmosphere was good. We went to order and unfortunately they had run out of all meats apart from Lamb. This wasn't for us so we ordered other items off the menu. They were really busy and prior to taking the order said it would be about 45 minutes for food and this was fine. Food came and it was as expected, nothing extraordinary, but hot, good quality and quantity.

My family decided to treat me to a birthday meal out at th mitre oak ,was such a fantastic surprise,when we got there I was met by a staff member from the pub who wished me happy birthday :) . Th place was quite busy but they still fund a nice secluded area for us all to sit,the kids were in their element as there was a nice park on the pub grounds.didnt have to wait long before the food arrived,myself and partner had the steak special which was VERY nice,other family members raved about the curries they'd had so I might try them the next time I visit which won't be long,only the kids had seeets a the adults were all full up .goto say those slushie drinks kept the children nice n quiet. I hadn't tried flavoured gun before but I must say the Parma violet is well worth a try. Big thank you to my family and also thank you to all at the mitre oak .

Stopped as we were passing through and were pleased to find that they had a 2 for 1 offer on main meals which gave us great value for money. Range of standard pub food so great choice!

This is getting a regular night out for us food excellent service excellent can’t fault the place love the atmosphere really welcoming

Fancied an evening out so myself and my partner gave the Mitre Oak a g, I must sat the place was spot on, no issues at all, staff seemed very helpful and polite,mentioned about the offers that were on aswel, food was fantastic especially as it was 2 for 1. They didn’t scrimp on the amounts either,loads on the plate and was very tasty too.

We went there this week in the evening. it was fairly busy and when we got there just after 5 pm only one bar staff who doubled as a waitress. We had starters mains and desserts and couldn't fault the food. The service was good and friendly. Later on another bar staff/waitress started but the queue was quite long. Girls were very quick and capable but under pressure,

A Marstons 241 pub. Decor felt a little tired but the pub is vast so you can find areas for a quiet meal. During the lunch setting food arrived within 10 minutes. Despite this, it was only warm with the peas room temp. Portion sizes meagre but acceptable for the price. Kids meals work out better value for size and price than adults.

Had a lovely evening with fam the food was bangin, wicked service and a great atmosphere 2👍s. That velvet cheesecake was boss couldn't finnish it though

Visited this pub with two friends on Sunday, 21 April at 17.45. The girl serving us was very friendly but warned us that there was a 45 minute delay before our food would be served. We accepted this because it was a Bank Holiday weekend. We settled in a corner seat - I believe it was table 15 or 17, but can't quite remember. When the food was served it was good - especially the prawn cocktail and we all enjoyed our choices.

Ordered a white wine spritzer in a pint glass got a small white wine in large wine glass....food was good and under manager excellent. Not in a hurry to go again unless the staff are either trained or fired.

Excellent service, food was hot, even through it was really busy only had to wait roughly 15mins for food, never had a bad meal there at all, well done guys

Visited late afternoon for a family lunch,place was very busy but the food we ordered arrived in decent time,we all had steak meals which were cooked as we liked,plenty on the plates and with the 2 for 1 was great value for money. neither of us had room for sweets but I must recommend their gin section,my fav was Parma violet lol.thanks
