Absolutely fabulous big pub in beautiful country settings. Ticks all the boxes, lovely timeless, rustic feel to the place, with wooden beams, log burners and cosy furnishings, no chain pub rubbish. The food is unbelievable, well prepared and presented by very friendly staff and Incredible value for money. A 3 course meal is ONLY about £15 each. A truly outstanding pub, going the extra mile to keep you coming back. I will be going back as often as possible now I have discovered the place. I rarely give a full 5 stars on everything in a review, but the Plough earns it hands down! Amazing Christmas decorations up at the moment too, lovely old classic christmas feel while eating by one of the log burners!

We have been here before and had high praise for the Plough. On this visit table booked for five at 7.00pm left at the bar as table not ready told would be a few minutes. Taken to a table at 7.35, there were no menus on the table. No one came to the table unit 8.00pm to take our order, and had to get the menus . Starters arrived at 8.25pm. Food service finishes at 9.00. Went to have the carvery. No choice of food , no turkey, plates were cold, food not hot. The meat was tough. The deserts were none existing, no choice , ice cream, or chocolate cake. I'm totally disappointed with this visit and will not be going again. You have lost five customers and friends of ours who asked how our visit was.

Very busy but staff coped well and carvery was good. £13.50 for 3 course very reasonable. Cash only. Very well decorated for the season. Sweets were excellent. Very good out of season but right now they seem to have planned well for a busy time. Despite numbers, environment was still quiet for an enjoyable meal.

Fantastic food at a great price. My only criticism is that it was very busy when we arrived at 2pm and the queue for the food was long and slow, also they promoted cash only when they do accept card if you ask. We will be going back but maybe book for 3pm on a Sunday rather than 2pm. I would recommend.

Visited 7th Nov 24. We now have this as our first choice dining place whether midday or early evening. So popular that, to be sure of a table, YOU NEED TO BOOK. The service and food quality is excellent and at £12.00 for 3 courses it is exceptional value. The menu choice is very good in the £12 deal and for a very reasonable additional charge the VERY HUNGRY visitor can upgrade their steak (32oz Rump. 28oz T-Bone. 28oz Combat). Good car parking. Lovely location. The place has already been beautifully dressed for Christmas and looks absolutely stunning as you approach from the car. Starters-nice choice available. Mains-excellent choice available. Desserts-if you get this far after all the food, there is a dessert bar with a choice of desserts/ice cream. Been quite a few times and never disappointed even though we have high expectations. SUGGESTION: Lovely fires warming the place but it can be a bit hot sat by the fire.

Never again! I've only eaten here a couple of times, never again. 1. My partner ordered the fish& chips, I noticed no wedge of lemon to squeeze over the fish, I said they've forgotten, my partner said its not a problem ! I said to my partner where's your Tartar sauce? They've forgotten that aswell. I called over a member of staff and said could we have a small pot of Tartar please! His reply you pay at the bar it's 50p, I said your joking No! I'm not, my partner said 50p? Forget it! Tartar sauce in any restaurant should come with a meal, are you going to charge for S&P next? Disgusting. 2. My partner went for his dessert 20 minutes he was in the queue, more staff needed when your busy I think . I couldn't manage my dessert, my partner said no problem theirs a sign round there saying if your full you can take it home, but! Didn't realise you were charged 50p for a container to take it home ,Disgusting! I put it in a servette. 3. I saw a young girl come from the kitchen with that much make up on I thought she was going out for the night, long hair in platts carring plates, her hair was resting on the top plate ,twice she did this I'm glad i didn't have the carvery, all hair in kitchen staff should be tide back off your face . 4. After booking a table for 14.00, a party of 10, we were told the table would be ready at about 14.20, with nowhere to sit we stood by the bar as people were trying to get past with drinks and their food as some tables were the other side of the building. We were eventually shown to our table ar 15.00. Then came the meal, as we walked to the carvery for our meal we were treated with a queue stretching about 50 yards, after standing there for 25 minutes and moving 4 foot we had had enough, we left the queue and asked for a refund, no one asked what the problem was, no apology offered just our money returned. The place is well, overbooked, only accept cash, zero atmosphere and lacking in any form of organisation or management. We will never return to the Plough and would not recommend it.

Horrendous Sunday! Booked a table, got there on time, only to be told we would have to wait. The place was massively overbooked and understaffed. Cash only for food and drink and after waiting nearly 45 mins to be seated, we then queued for 40 mins for the carvery - and barely moved. Many people getting refunds and walking out, as we had to do as the children were bored, overwhelmed with the noise and starving! Absolute shambles and a real shame as this used to be an amazing place to go.

Firstly the plough are only accepting cash no cards fortunately there was a cash machine but it would have been nice to be told on the phone when we booked table. Ordered a coffee at the bar and after asking waitresses twice it finally arrived an hour later with no apologies and as it was only 6.30pm they weren’t exactly rushed off their feet! We both had carvery beef was tough, not enough choice of veg, roast potatoes weren’t cooked enough, no mashed potato! I appreciate it’s only £12 pp for 3 courses but I would prefer to pay extra and have really good food and choice. This establishment has gone downhill in my opinion we used to come here years ago and it was the best carvery ever with so much choice and excellent service. The staff that we had dealings with tonight were rude and definitely need training in customer service! I will not be returning anytime soon which is very sad as it was always a fabulous meal. There are cutting corners and really cutting corners I’m afraid to say the plough are the latter.

Whilst the food is a really reasonable price its no more than average, no real taste to the shortbread for dessert. The service we had was terrible. Lots of people who paid after us got their order taken before us. The table next to us were eating dessert as we got our starter. The alcohol is expensive, 1 pint of neck oil was £6.50, over half the cost of the 3 course meal! The young lady serving desserts was miserable and kept turning away whilst talking so you couldn't hear her. An average overall experience.

Firstly i want to be clear that I’ve always enjoyed eating here. Food is excellent, staff are friendly and the pub is very clean. Unfortunately when i ate here yesterday I ordered a gluten free starter (mushroom soup with gluten free bread), and they bought me out normal gluten bread. After i started eating it they bought out my gluten free starter. Nobody else at my table had ordered the mushroom soup so i had no way of knowing that this wasnt for me. The waitress was very apologetic but obviously that doesn’t help when you have a food allergy. Luckily my allergy isnt fatal or this could have been alot worse. I couldn’t eat all my main course or a dessert because my stomach had already started hurting and bloating up. Now 24 hours later my stomach has bloated to 4 times its normal size and is in terrible pain. Most of body is now covered in blisters and eczema like rashes which are excruciatingly itchy. These symptoms will last up to 2 weeks. I just want the pub to be aware of this so it doesn’t happen again and maybe train the staff about the severity of food allergies, also just to warn people with allergies to double check that the staff have bought you the right order. I have added afew photos of what this has done to my skin just to show people who are unaware of food allergies how severe they can be

I'd firstly like to state that we already contacted the owner directly about our visit and received an awfully rude reply, hence this negative public review. I visited with my partner and parents for a Sunday lunch carvery after being told the food was really good. Whilst the food was indeed good (not amazing, but a nice carvery) we had a few issues with the service which made the whole experience pretty disappointing. 1. We were seated next to the phone which was constantly left to ring - very annoying - would be better if it was behind the bar not right next to where guests are seated. 2. When I politely asked if the gravy and stuffing were vegetarian, I felt quite mocked by the man I believe to be the landlord/owner as I was asked "how vegetarian are you" as he tried to give me gravy that he knew had meat in - I assume to avoid the effort of making veggie gravy specially. 3. The lights kept going out for no obvious reason and nobody came to explain, apologise or fix it. 4. My Mum was refused the option of purchasing a smaller sized meal due to her dietary restrictions, which I kind of understand as it's a 'one menu 2 course' thing there, but then she was refused the option of taking her leftover food that she had paid for home - the staff were very rude to her at this point. We ended up having to go to the shop opposite to buy freezer bags to take the meat and dessert home so she hadn't wasted her money. 5. The staff clearly aren't trained very well as they didn't seem to know how to make coffees correctly when we'd ordered them and were waiting at the dessert area (you have to take a ticket and go collect them). All in all this could be a really lovely place to visit if the staff were properly trained and the owner wasn't so rude. The food wasn't exactly outstanding to be honest and I'm sorry to say that wouldn't visit again even it was, due to his attitude.

I was only disappointed in the tiny piece of lamb I received, but a massive slice of beef😫 I did request a table suitable for a pram when I booked over the phone, but when we arrived we were given a table in an area where we had to go up some stairs and then back down the stairs, so I don’t think they made a note of the pram when I booked. I told the waitress again after seeing the table, and she did move us to a more suitable table, where we had to use another entrance/exit to get to. This was perfect. I do think it's a bit strange that they only take cash but they do have a free ATM. We had for starters: Mushrooms 2 x popcorn chicken Mains: Scottish steak Cajun chicken with salad Cajun chicken with chips Only fault with the food was I asked for the steak to be cooked medium well but it came really well done. The onion rings were lovely. Feedback - would be good to have a few sandwiches/lighter bites on the menu as not everyone wants a huge 3 course for lunch. My husband and I went to the Plough Inn today, the 22nd of May, with our friends. It was the first time we had been to the Plough Inn. We went for lunch 😋 We all had the 3 course menu, which £ 12 each, we all had the carvery, which was delicious 😋 and homemade dessert, my husband had the red velvet with ice cream . Myself and our friends had the cheese cake, I had mine with fresh cream, and our friends had their's with ice cream. They were all delicious 😋 yummy yummy. Then we all had a latte with a chocolate on the saucer as well. The Plough Inn was lovely inside, the staff were all very nice, friendly and helpful 😀. All the different choices on the menu were all very good, and all very reasonable prices . We will definitely be going back again soon, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone who has never been there before. Thank you to all the staff whom we met today. Great service, Kind regards, Pearl and Len Walker

The pub has a lovely atmosphere and the service was very good. The food however, sadly let it down. There were three of us and we all went for the meal deal. 3 courses for £13. All our starters were fine but I ordered a steak and it was overcooked and too tough to eat. The dog managed it later. My wife ordered the Steak and mushroom pie. The pastry was inedible and tough and the filling was overpowered with pepper. The third member of our party had fish and chips, which were lovely. When the waiter came to clear, we advised him of our complaints. He was very polite and said that is all he could do was apologise. No mention of an even partial refund. We were too tired after a long day to argue but would not return. Such a shame as it seemed a very nice place.

Great place for a carvery and food, the price was really good, service too. 3 courses for £13 and they quality was phenomenal for that sort of money. Drinks are more expensive than most places though; 2 x ciders were £13, but even then it was worth it. My only gripe, and it's minimal, was that the card machines were slow, very very slow. Anyone looking for a good value for money meal, this certainly is the place to be!! And, the staff were great when they found out my partner was glucose intolerant, they literally checked on her at every course, very good service indeed for those that cannot stomach wheat etc. Definitely be returning soon!

Three of us came hear for a Sunday a week after Easter. The only problem I had was I was charging Easter Sunday prices after I returned the gent behind the bar said very sorry and refunded me £13 in cash which was all ok with me. I would say that the till was not changed from easter. On a very positive not I was up visiting mother-in-law in Chorley as we are from Devon and thought this pub looked great from outside. The carvery was probably the best we have had for a long time and the sweet bar is a great idea. We will be back when we are up there again the food talks for itself thanks

Food was lovely. 3 courses for £13. Plenty of choices and plenty on the plate too. Carvery was my mains choice and it's was delicious. Lots of different vegetables on offer. Desserts looked yummy. Had Victoria sponge and salted caramel ice cream. Lots of variety of ice cream to choose from or you could have pouring cream. Various cake too. Highly recommend. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Will be going back

Make sure you know your paying for a 2 course on a Sunday. We was not told today. As the first time going there. We asked for 6 carvery. So didn't think to look at the receipts intill we realised £144 was alot of money for a carvery. When we got home we sat down and it said 2 courses. However this was not stated on the phone call when booking. And this was not stated when asking for 6 carverys. We called and complained about this, and all the owner had to say was you can have one 3 course meal for free next time your in. Which is £13 there is 6 of just and we lost £30-£40.... £13 doesn't cover what we have lost. Staff aren't very pleasant in dealing with things. Who is going to go back on there own and sit there and have the free meal. NO ONE. First and last time we will be there. CON ARTISTS

This restaurant has got it so right. The menu is concise with a range of choices. The deserts are made up of a range of gateax served at a separate counter with ice cream as a light choice. The starters are generous, so beware. It's a really well run, organised establishment with top class food with customers in mind. The seating area is pleasant with an abundance of staff to keep the operation running smoothly. Highly recommended.

Food was great we went for Sunday lunch a family of 6 spent just over £180 all was good until we asked for a container to put the remainder of Sunday lunch in I offered straight away to pay for said container as my pregnant daughter in law couldn’t eat anymore of her dinner They said they had to go check if it was ok to have a container even though I had offered to pay for it So I went topay £4 for one and she said you will have to wrap in a serviette I said I can’t do that as it is a gravy dinner Then I offered to pay again as I found this very ridiculous that if I am paying for a container what is the problem And they had a cupboard full of them aswell Got one reluctantly in the end The whole situation spoilt our family Sunday lunch In the end And needless to say we will NOT BE eating there again ever

Always warm and cosy. Good choice of real ale, though sadly served a little on the warm side. There's a real fire too, but it's very rarely lit. Walk out of the back door and you're on the platform for the Severn Valley Railway, lovely heritage steam and diesel locomotives.
