Food choice is very good only disappointment is that they have changed their chips from triple cooked to now serving chips with skins on which is not to everyone's taste I maybe a minority on this but unfortunately am fussy with food but by and large main bulk of food is in good taste and staff are very welcoming and friendly

Absolutely shocking experience! Never ever again! They need new management & staff! As soon as we got there a grumpy and smirky looking young girl gave us menus that had seen better days! They were all creased! Only one person working behind the bar which they were very slow! Then to be told “cash only” very werid and crafty! We was then told after we had ordered that there wasn’t much left at the carvery so what was there was what’s left. Absolutely disgusting for 7.15pm! Puddings had no taste and the portioning of the lemon drizzle slice! Well… wasn’t even a slice! Absolutely appalling and of course definitely won’t be returning! Absolutely vile place

Firstly i want to be clear that I’ve always enjoyed eating here. Food is excellent, staff are friendly and the pub is very clean. Unfortunately when i ate here yesterday I ordered a gluten free starter (mushroom soup with gluten free bread), and they bought me out normal gluten bread. After i started eating it they bought out my gluten free starter. Nobody else at my table had ordered the mushroom soup so i had no way of knowing that this wasnt for me. The waitress was very apologetic but obviously that doesn’t help when you have a food allergy. Luckily my allergy isnt fatal or this could have been alot worse. I couldn’t eat all my main course or a dessert because my stomach had already started hurting and bloating up. Now 24 hours later my stomach has bloated to 4 times its normal size and is in terrible pain. Most of body is now covered in blisters and eczema like rashes which are excruciatingly itchy. These symptoms will last up to 2 weeks. I just want the pub to be aware of this so it doesn’t happen again and maybe train the staff about the severity of food allergies, also just to warn people with allergies to double check that the staff have bought you the right order. I have added afew photos of what this has done to my skin just to show people who are unaware of food allergies how severe they can be

We visited at 530pm yesterday 15th August, family of 10 with visitors from Australia. We all had the meal deal 3 courses for £12, absolutely fantastic and quality food. All served together which was a bonus. Only negative is the price of the drinks £8 for a glass of Wine and £6 for a beer. If only it was a pound cheaper we would of stayed for more drinks. Guess the money is made back on the drinks, for the reasonable price food. That said we will recommend and visit again. The staff are friendly and polite.

The Plough is a lovely country pub/restaurant. Very popular and busy. I was surprised to find it nearly full to capacity on a Tuesday evening. The food here is very reasonably priced (probably explains the busyness). All the meals for our party of four were excellent! The staff are friendly and helpful and very busy! Drinks at the plough are expensive though. Both soft drinks and alcoholic - are priced much higher than the local average.

Well what can I say about the place - when I heard it was £12 for three courses I was a little skeptical. I always judge my experience on the question asked would you go again and I'm pleased to answer a big fat yes food good service fine a nice conversational buzz about the place and needles to say good value for money. Animal friendly also with a tidy little beer garden, would recommend... Mark

I'd firstly like to state that we already contacted the owner directly about our visit and received an awfully rude reply, hence this negative public review. I visited with my partner and parents for a Sunday lunch carvery after being told the food was really good. Whilst the food was indeed good (not amazing, but a nice carvery) we had a few issues with the service which made the whole experience pretty disappointing. 1. We were seated next to the phone which was constantly left to ring - very annoying - would be better if it was behind the bar not right next to where guests are seated. 2. When I politely asked if the gravy and stuffing were vegetarian, I felt quite mocked by the man I believe to be the landlord/owner as I was asked "how vegetarian are you" as he tried to give me gravy that he knew had meat in - I assume to avoid the effort of making veggie gravy specially. 3. The lights kept going out for no obvious reason and nobody came to explain, apologise or fix it. 4. My Mum was refused the option of purchasing a smaller sized meal due to her dietary restrictions, which I kind of understand as it's a 'one menu 2 course' thing there, but then she was refused the option of taking her leftover food that she had paid for home - the staff were very rude to her at this point. We ended up having to go to the shop opposite to buy freezer bags to take the meat and dessert home so she hadn't wasted her money. 5. The staff clearly aren't trained very well as they didn't seem to know how to make coffees correctly when we'd ordered them and were waiting at the dessert area (you have to take a ticket and go collect them). All in all this could be a really lovely place to visit if the staff were properly trained and the owner wasn't so rude. The food wasn't exactly outstanding to be honest and I'm sorry to say that wouldn't visit again even it was, due to his attitude.

Lovely carvery, a nice variety on the carvery. I opted for 3 meats, Turkey, lamb and beef. I was only disappointed in the tiny piece of lamb I received, but a massive slice of beef😫 I did request a table suitable for a pram when I booked over the phone, but when we arrived we were given a table in an area where we had to go up some stairs and then back down the stairs, so I don’t think they made a note of the pram when I booked. I told the waitress again after seeing the table, and she did move us to a more suitable table, where we had to use another entrance/exit to get to. This was perfect. Overall great food and really good dessert options.

I was volunteering at the forest dog rescue with 2 colleagues and we came here for lunch. Lovely looking pub in an idyllic location. Loads of parking. We hadn't pre booked but no problem getting a table for 3. The menu is 3 courses for £12 which I think is unbelievable value for money. Especially as the portion sizes are also very generous! I do think it's a bit strange that they only take cash but they do have a free ATM. We had for starters: Mushrooms 2 x popcorn chicken Mains: Scottish steak Cajun chicken with salad Cajun chicken with chips Only fault with the food was I asked for the steak to be cooked medium well but it came really well done. The onion rings were lovely. Feedback - would be good to have a few sandwiches/lighter bites on the menu as not everyone wants a huge 3 course for lunch. We were so full, we didn't even have the dessert! The carvery looked great and I will definitely be returning to try it!

Myself and our friends had the cheese cake, I had mine with fresh cream, and our friends had their's with ice cream. They were all delicious 😋 yummy yummy. Then we all had a latte with a chocolate on the saucer as well. The Plough Inn was lovely inside, the staff were all very nice, friendly and helpful 😀. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and the service was very good. The food however, sadly let it down. There were three of us and we all went for the meal deal. 3 courses for £13. All our starters were fine but I ordered a steak and it was overcooked and too tough to eat. The dog managed it later. My wife ordered the Steak and mushroom pie. The pastry was inedible and tough and the filling was overpowered with pepper. The third member of our party had fish and chips, which were lovely. When the waiter came to clear, we advised him of our complaints. He was very polite and said that is all he could do was apologise. No mention of an even partial refund. We were too tired after a long day to argue but would not return. Such a shame as it seemed a very nice place.

Drinks are more expensive than most places though; 2 x ciders were £13, but even then it was worth it. My only gripe, and it's minimal, was that the card machines were slow, very very slow. Anyone looking for a good value for money meal, this certainly is the place to be!! Make sure you know your paying for a 2 course on a Sunday. We was not told today. As the first time going there. We asked for 6 carvery. So didn't think to look at the receipts intill we realised £144 was alot of money for a carvery. When we got home we sat down and it said 2 courses. However this was not stated on the phone call when booking. And this was not stated when asking for 6 carverys. We called and complained about this, and all the owner had to say was you can have one 3 course meal for free next time your in. Which is £13 there is 6 of just and we lost £30-£40.... £13 doesn't cover what we have lost. Staff aren't very pleasant in dealing with things. Who is going to go back on there own and sit there and have the free meal. NO ONE. First and last time we will be there. CON ARTISTS

Great food! Unable to take my left overs home, was offered a napkin to take the remains of a carvery! No where does it say you can’t take it home or I wouldn’t have ordered it. I would have ordered a starter.. as I cant eat large meals due to medical reasons. I asked staff to leave it on the table, several staff continued to try and take the plate away, eventually I finished picking at the food and told a staff member they could take it and bin it which was a shame, as she walked off several staff were stood waiting and asking if she’s managed to “get it off her” as they were all too concerned that I was going to try and conceive my roast dinner in with my take home cake box!! .. shame as I’d spoken to the manager and was happy to leave knowing this for future visits. After tonight and the experience of the staff, there won’t be a next time. A little respect goes a long way.

Amazing Again on 1st February 2024 for lunch this time £12 …. quality meats and vegetables, great choice of starters; the mushroom soup was the best I’ve tasted; spoilt for choice for dessert. The staff are fantastic too.

Best pub in the midlands in my opinion. This is the crème de la crème of boozers. They’ve got the atmosphere, decor, food & price bang on!

The food was really lovely and service was good. I was disappointed that when I got there and paid that it was a carvery with a pudding. I would of liked to have the option of having a pudding!!

Booked a table for 7:30pm on Friday. Arrived on time to find the car park over flowing and going round 3 times to find a space. Went to get table on arrival to be told there will be a 10 minute wait for a table that was booked and should be ready. At 8pm with absolutely zero communication from any staff about our table we left and took our business elsewhere. Regardless of this the food has always been of the best quality and we were very disappointed with our latest experience and are reluctant to return again. When you double book or book tables to close together in timings is in my opinion just greed. We were not the only customers that this happened to that night either. They were still being told 10 minute wait for a booked table and we had stood there for 30 minutes. Poor organisation

What a wonderful place. First time we have been and it was heaving on a Thursday lunchtime. The staff were very friendly and helpful, explaining the menu and the procedure for payment etc. 3 course for £10. We had Gravlax, stilton mushrooms, venison crumble, and soup for our starters, 2 of us had the carvery which was amazing 3 choices of meat. 1 had steak and the other had a beef sizzler. Desserts were a choice of farm ice creams with several different gateau's to choose from. All beautifully cooked. Its only open 12 until 3 so you have to book, we will definitely be going again

Normally we give 5 stars. However had a call asking where we were today. when I had prebooked a table for 12 for sat 27th Jan. I definitely got the date right because .1. my son usually gets home late in week. 2. Grandchildren are young hence 5.30pm. 3. Hubby's 60th. 4 . We had a concert to go to which I was on way to when I had call. 5. Other son was at airport .Small family gathering. Was offered a table for 8pm .too late for children to eat. Second call I made no one found booking which I called for the day before. Paid deposit. I was told it was put into 3 diary's when I had call tonight. It was not when I paid deposit. Practically accused of booking wrong date! . To say I'm upset is well yea. Now I can't get anywhere and hubby has had birthday disappointment.

Me and my family visited here last weekend for a carvery which we saw advertised on there website! The website stated it was £22 for 2 courses for adults and £12 for children! The food was ok nothing special and when it came to deserts there wasn't much choice! On paying we were charged £24 for 2 courses and £14 for the kids! I questions why it was advertised on the website the price it was and they said it couldn't be changed! I think £48 for 2 adults for a carvery and desert is over priced and unfortunately will not be returning!

Very busy...to busy for me, packed in to much.... Very cisy though..l9g burners made it lovely and warm. Food was cheap and good, service was ok...but young lad didn't know how to serve a gin and lemonade nicely....put it in a long glass, no ice offered, and flat lemonade from a big bottle...instead of lovely glass with ice and a slice.

It seems people equate large portions with quality, going by the other reviews for this place. The building and decor seemed fine, and we had high hopes as we sat down. However, the waiting staff were a mixed bag. One lady was very pleasant and friendly; another behaved like we were inconveniencing her, and she was brusque and cold. The whole evening, it was made clear we should order immediately, eat fast and leave. The starter was ok, if a little underseasoned. The carvery was absolutely dire - only the Yorkshire pudding was good. Bland meat, the most unroasted roast potatoes I’ve encountered, overcooked vegetables, greasy sloppy stuffing, insipid gravy. Everything had a background flavour of five spice also. Dessert tasted like Costco-bought goods. The bathrooms are an utter disgrace. The ladies featured a toilet seat half hanging off, laden with pubic hairs, and everywhere was coated in a layer of several days' worth of dirt and dust- amongst other things. Considering the men’s has been refurbished like a nightclub bathroom, you wonder why the owner must dislike women so much. You get what you pay for. The food here is solely for the Bisto crowd who revel in meat-and-two-veg mediocrity. If that’s your thing, you’ll love it.

Its ok. Food is pretty good but the drinks are hella expensive for what they are (4 quid for a lemonade and lime!) Just wish the seating wasn't so tightly packed in.

Went there Wednesday lunch time. 3 course meal £10. Very good value. Friendly staff and attentive. Yes the drinks are expensive but they have a business to run and need to make a profit.

Not sure what these low star reviews are on about because this place is amazing! I’ve been here about 5 times now? In the last year and it’s been great every time. The quality of the food is wonderful and the service is impeccable. I would know as I’m a restaurant manager in the heart of central London. Callum looked after my family and I tonight and made us feel very welcome and looked after. I could tell he has the passion for this and made all the tables he looked after smile and laugh. Many thanks to the team. Big shoutout to Callum. We’ll see you soon :)

Went in - Walked out after 5 mins. Like so many who have already commented, the service was so poor - we left before we even ordered. No smiles, no warm welcome. Easy decision to leave. It's funny how they claim that negative reviews are so unreasonable, so much so they frame some of them on the wall for the LOLs. Oh well, if that's a business strategy that works for them, crack on, but we decided to go to the pub down the road which was a much more pleasant experience for us. Horses for courses!
