Mithaas, located on Narborough Road in Leicester, is a well-known vegetarian restaurant and sweet shop specializing in Indian cuisine. It offers a variety of traditional Indian snacks, meals, and desserts. The menu typically includes popular items such as chaat, samosas, dosa, and a variety of curries and thalis, catering especially to the vegetarian and vegan communities. Mithaas is also famous for its extensive selection of Indian sweets like gulab jamun, jalebi, rasgulla, and barfi. The restaurant is known for its casual dining experience and is a popular spot for those looking to enjoy authentic Indian street food and desserts in Leicester. Loved the Jalebis and Dal Kachori

Dear Mithaas, I have been ordering food from you at least 3 times a week and this is the second tike I found a hair inside the bread ( prantha) which is totally not acceptable . I love the tast but please don't compromise over quality and hygiene which I beleive your chef or whosoever is handling the kitchen needs to follow hygiene protocol. Being your loyal customer I would really want to see the required changes made by you.

I was spending £200.00 on average a month here on food for work. The staff have always treated me well. So no fault there. Upon making an order via telephone as per normal I told the gentleman I will be there in 10 mins. Upon arriving at store the owner not the staff proceeded in debating with me infront of other customers and pointed out he had said half an hour. So I told him to leave the order requested and asked the staff to provide me with a tali to takeaway. The owner carried on suggesting I was lying. At this point I instructed the staff to leave the tali and walked out. His response was leave it then. Absolutely disgusting service from a man who had staff members witnessing the whole incident. Not once did the owner apologise and suggest a solution. The day before I had been given a bag of food as per usual but without a carrier bag. On reaching my destination the food had leaked and come straight through the paper bag all over the floor once arriving at my work premises. The situation was explained to the staff and was advised to speak to the owners son who had served me. Unfortunately the whole experience has left me with a very bitter taste in my mouth regarding the restaurant. I hope the owners can see through their ignorance and actually acknowledge that customers make their business flow. Losing customers is the best way to finish off your business. My thoughts and experience is no reflection on the staff but the owner himself.

Food good. It's not too spicy. Samosas vary in taste, sometimes they are more spicy, sometimes sweet, and sometimes less spicy. Maybe different chefs make them. I don't like two things. The first is the price. I pay differently every time for the same order. I paid twice under £15. Last time I paid £20 because the lady serving me weighed the goods. No one has weighed this before. I give 4 stars for the food and subtract one star for the price. The second thing I don't like is young customers who stare at my wife every time and smile stupidly, thinking that she is happy about it. She is not happy and is very bothered by their behavior. No parking available. You have to look for a long time in crowded streets or park illegally, quickly buy food and run away to avoid getting a ticket.

We r here to have dinner on birthday occasion. Food is fantastic, hygieneic. We bring cake with us but end of the dinner we ask for cake cutting and management ask to pay £20 for cake cutting charges which is not fair. Request all customer if you want to go for birthday dinner than it's not worth it.

Yesterday I visited "Mithaas Restaurant, Leicester" with my family, and I left feeling very disappointed. The food was clearly reheated and not fresh at all. I didn’t say much at the time other than the food is not great at that time because my kids were with me, but it really ruined what should have been a special day. What bothered me even more was that it felt like the restaurant picks and chooses which customers they can fool. As an Asian customer, I couldn’t help but feel like they thought they could take advantage of me. This was not right and left me feeling disrespected. I hope the restaurant realizes that all customers deserve fresh food and fair treatment, no matter who they are.

Definitely one of our favourite Indian restaurants in Leicester - we visit at least once a month since finding it! Also, vegan items are clearly marked with a green V with great variety of foods on offer! Location is very busy and parking isn't great, so recommend parking on the residential side street and paying for parking (cheap and only need to pay until 6pm). When you enter the restaurant, immediately you'll see the mithai (sweets) and savoury snacks counters. Theres a wide variety of mithai such as different types of penda, barfi, halwo, kaju katli, jalebi etc. Also a great range of savoury snacks including samosas, spring rolls, kachori, dhokla, onion bhaji, battered whole stuffed chillis, bateta vada, battered potato slices, spinach pakoras, Patra, khandvi etc Prices are very reasonable (e.g veg samosas and kachori are 50p each!). These counters are busy as the food is good quality and freshly made on site. The restaurant is simple and clean, again very busy and popular which is a testament to the great variety of food on offer. Don't expect posh plates and cutlery and all that faff - the food is the showstopper! Bollywood music plays very quietly, it could be turned up just a little bit too create a nicer atmosphere (not a big problem!) On the dining menu is full range of Starters - samosa, bhajis, etc Chaat (Indian street food) - Pani Puri, sev Puri, aloo tikki chaat, dahi vada etc Sizzlers - paneer dishes, tandoori mogo etc, South Indian - variety of dosa, uttapam and idli Indo-Chinese - chilli mushroom/paneer/aubergine, noodles and manchurian etc Lots of Vegetable and paneer curries Good selection of rice, breads, parathas. Variety of drinks including juices, lassis, beers Prices and portions sizes are very reasonable - for example: one soft drink, one beer, 2 starters & 3 mains, bill roughly £35. Service is polite and not overly fussy, but can get slower during busy periods. Also recommend booking, as tables are often reserved. Highly recommend visiting here for a true taste of India as the range of food is superb. We always really enjoy our visits and end up both eating too much food and bringing lots of snacks home to enjoy! Thank you Mithaas, we will see you again soon!

When I was at the restaurant with my family, I had ordered Hakka noodles and when it came there was a dead mosquito in there. We recently ordered Hakka noodles and were very disappointed with the experience. When the dish arrived, it was extremely salty. We asked the waiter if she could change it, but instead of preparing a new dish, she merely added boiled noodles to the existing ones and served it back to us. The result was bland and tasteless. When we pointed this out, she offered to make a fresh batch, but by then, we had already decided to leave and asked for the bill. The customer service was pathetic, with no coordination among the staff, and the food quality was equally disappointing. We won't be returning.

I travelled from Barnsley and my son and daughter travelled from Chipping Norton. We met half way in Leicester to visit the Baby shop to get advice about prams and decided to go here for lunch (I’m vegetarian). We all thoroughly enjoyed our food. Lovely seating area, good service with a smile and very efficient. My daughter and I chose the special at 9.99 - small portions of various delights, and my son chose three separate dishes that were full of delicious flavours. My son and daughter commented they could easily become vegetarian if they could access food of this quality and flavour where they live. I’d love something like this local to me in Barnsley. Thank you so much.

Really disappointed with this venue. My elderly parents (late 70's) went to Mithaas on 14/3/24. Within a faluda drink my mum found a piece of plastic (in the picture). This was reported to the staff at the restaurant. The owner came over shortly after, took the plastic piece away and then came back to the table in a very defensive and rude manner. No real acceptance of any fault and fairly rude to an elderly Asian couple. Be careful of what you are actually served here. If you can do so avoid it altogether. There are plenty of other actual nice places to eat in Leicester. I have reported this matter to Trading Standards also.

BIG improvement on all fronts, Head waiter is now friendliness and politeness personified; a complete about-turn: this time he could not do enough for us! The food itself was fabulous, not cheap (£4 for a Coke, extra £1 charged for the pickle tray when it's normally provided free with poppadoms) but the main dish, ChickenTikka Tawa was out of this world; best meal ever eaten there. One thing you can rely on at Naseeb @ the Clowes is that the food is always served piping hot; and the comfortable new chairs throughout the restaurant (long overdue) were much appreciated. This venue did have a major 'dip' in terms of hospitality; and with its return to form I am hopeful that now it has turned the corner; thank you and look forward to many more visits!

Average food and unbelievably slow and poor service. Nice servers but the management have got things seriously wrong. Menus left on the table as you can’t order main courses until you’ve eaten your starters. Different people to order different things from, no one seemed to know what was happening. It took 2.5 hours for a meal. They’ve even still got all the Covid signs and QR code stuff up everywhere to remind you of that fun period. I won’t be returning.

My friend took me here last year. I wanted a hot chocolate but the server practically forced me to try a karak tea which I felt I had to accept and it was the most disgusting thing I'd ever tasted. The following week she asked for mint tea & was given black tea with milk? Hence why I will never go back here. They should just serve what people ask for not what they want to serve
