Misty Waters in Flintshire

We went as a group of residents for a day Out and it was great...we had a carvery meal which was excellent followed by games of bingo and play your cards right then there was an entertainer on so we could dance or just sing a long to the music. Bar drinks were very reasonably priced

Worst breakfast brunch ever, help yourself to as much breakfast food, including tea, coffee and orange juice, served 9-1pm, we arrived 11:45am table for 4, hardly any food available, what was available looked all dried up, we had already paid before we realised the poor lack of food and miserable quality, we were told to take a seat until fresh food was cooked, we helped ourselves to hot drinks, no orange juice available, then after 10 minutes we went to get our food, there was only enough for 1 of each of main items each, but half of us had no black pudding, tomatoes, hash browns and fried bread, very disappointing, but by the time more food come out it was taken by new guests, we mentioned to the lady who was cooking the food, she clearly looked flustered and annoyed with us. No excuse, it’s advertised breakfast until 1pm so there should be adequate food available, more groups arriving after us and I could hear them moaning too, we won’t be returning for breakfast, what black pudding we had was thin and like cardboard, mushrooms were dried up and chewy, bacon was hard and impossible to cut, best and only nice part was the coffee! all round awful food, real shambles!

Very good value for money and tasty food. We originally planned on Sunday carvery but was a little too busy for our 4 legged friend, so visited mid week. Water bowls were provided too.

Amazing Sunday Carvery. Been a few times now and never disappointed. Food and service have been spot on. Well worth the money and will happily go back again. Was busy but didn’t have to wait long for a table. I do like waiting to be called to get your food, means no long queues snaking round the room waiting to load their plates up. Generous portions of meat and veg is all fresh, seems to be a constant stream of trays coming out so nothing left too long under the heat lamp. Staff always been friendly and welcoming and helpful. A gem of a place.

Misty Waters is a must-visit! The food is delicious, the atmosphere is cozy, and the staff are incredibly friendly. The Carvery is particularly amazing, with tender meat and flavorful gravy and Veg I can't wait to return for another meal. Highly recommend!

Having previously given this place 5☆, I've no option than to reduce that to a 1☆ review after today's visit. Ordered what was supposed to be a vegetable soup and what came out was what I can only describe as a congealed curry with hardly any trace of any vegetables. Mixed grill was completely inedible, everything tasted of old grease, mushrooms were vile and still raw in the middle. The meat was either so overcooked it was like leather, or swimming in grease from the chips and mushrooms that it all tasted the same. Only thing he managed to eat off the entire plate was a sausage and an egg. All the chips on kids meals were black ⚫️ and tasted of old chip fat. The ones on the mixed grill were also black, and surprisingly dry whilst also being greasy, I didn't even know that was possible. When we asked to complain, the manager/chef was sent out the kitchen and told us we were wrong. Such a shame as we've been here so many times before and never had a bad meal but after today will not be returning. Bad food, and bad customer service. Edit: hilarious that you instantly blame "tourists" yet we actually live locally and certainly aren't in the game of trying to "rip you off". As you quite rightly pointed out we had a 1 year old baby with us who did drop a few peas on the floor. But as we have visited previously, apologised for the mess previously and even offered to clean up previously, we knew there wouldn't be any issue with a little mess. We didn't ask once for the money back so take your "footage" to social media. Bullying people who leave honest reviews is just pathetic. Maybe the footage will show how awful the food was. Seeing as though you have deleted your disgusting reply... I have added a screenshot for people to see how foul mouthed you actually are.

All 4 meals that were ordered were fantastic. The atmosphere and staff were all amazing and it felt so comfortable all evening. We had a mixed grill (he ate every bite), the stuffed peppers (which looked incredible and perfectly done), the steak and ale pie (which was full to the brim with meat and super tasty) and I had a beef burger which, as a burger fan, was absolutely beautiful and perfectly done. All meals came with lovely sides like a good serving of salad/veg and chips. Amazing value for such tasty food. I have also been for a Sunday carvery which I can absolutely say was the best I have had. Loads of meats on offer and each cooked perfectly! Then to top it off with loads of choice for veg and of course perfectly cooked roast potato's! Overall a lovely place to go. Great food, drinks, staff and atmosphere. The outside of the pub looks lovely and would be great for drinks in the sunshine during the summer!

This place is fantastic, Sunday carvery is absolutely superb with the choice of meats and veg available. Having coeliac and crohns is a challenge eating out and having trust in their understanding is crucial. Doug is outstanding in providing gluten free amazing tasty food from fish & chips to steak with Stilton sauce. Kellie is also equally amazing running the bar and stocking gf beer and cider. It is such an enjoyable experience to know that they appreciate and understand the implications of such illnesses and that it isn’t a lifestyle choice. The gf fish and chips Dougie serves is the best I’ve ever had, the batter is so light and a real treat. Thank you so much for what you do, the lengths you go to and how well you cater for me and my family.

Dirty place badly manged with nice staff. You get what you pay for with the very average food but there is no excuse for not being clean. The owner/manager should train staff and clean the place. Very run down. I really do not understand the good reviews for this place. And don't advertise sundae desserts that are meant to be In a knickerbocker glass and then serve a plastic ice cream in a plastic cup sitting in a filthy glass. Not acceptable.

Sunday lunch was delicious & tasted all home cooked, was hot as other carvery’s I’ve been to are not very hot. Very busy but booked a table & all staff are very pleasant & helpful. Would definitely recommend & looking forward to going back again. My only negative was the car park. It’s very small & had to wait for people to leave as it was so busy, otherwise a definite 10 out of 10

heard a lot about this place , so finally got to visit . Booked for Sunday lunch with friends - Very busy , very hot inside ( many layers due to cold weather , so could at least remove a few!)and tables VERY close together. Food was very good - meat not dry , plenty of perfectly cooked veg to accompany . Highly recommend - my only one gripe - why is a pint of coke £4!!!! bit steep - penalising the driver ... only the 'mixer' type so even nice

Our first visit to Misty Waters. Family group including children. We were attracted by the positive reviews re Sunday Lunch. When we arrived the restaurant was very crowded and noisy. Whist this may put people off it was simply because it was families enjoying themselves. The first thing that struck me was how well organised the the restaurant staff were in making sure your party was settled and initiated into the very well run re queing for the carvery. You paid in advance and received a ticket and a "buzzer" which sounds weird but it worked very well. When your buzzer sounded you joined the small queue for the carvery. Plenty of choice for meat and veg which was delicious. The service from all the mainly young people waiting on was excellent, couldnt fault any of them. Overall we enjoyed the experience, the food and service was excellent. The price was reasonable with a reduction for children. It is not a place for a romantic dinner but judging by the people around us everyone appeared to be enjoying themselves. We attended the restaurant at around 2pm on Sun 10th Sept.

Came last month for the first time & the carvery was fantastic, came back today & again the carvery was delicious. A great choice of meats & vegetables all cooked perfectly. 5* plus

Had a bit of an upside down, back to front sort of week, and had heard good things about the carvery and the desert menu, went along enjoyed a lovely carvery, walloped a few ales, sampled the Sunday desert menu which is all the rage and went home. Best Carvery around, great portions for the price, all the food is great. Friendly staff, fast service. The only small issue, there was a couple of drunks being slightly loud, can be a put off for family’s with young children. Will defiantly be returning.

I visited there today with my Son. The place was clean and the young girl behind the bar was very pleasant. However, we both ordered the gammon at £11.99. It wasnt very good value in my case as all I got was a piece of gammon the size of a burger and some salad with ' hunt the tomato' as I cannot eat potatoes. My Sons looked ok despite the gammon being small but he also had chips , peas, egg and pineapple. I am disappointed at the fact I paid full price for half a meal. We couldnt really enjoy it because of the rowdy table in the corner. Couldnt wait to leave. Felt uncomfortable. Wont be going again. The pictures of the food in other reviews are nothing like the small portions we were served!

Went here for Sunday dinner yesterday, excellent food, great staff, great portion sizes and value for money, I opted for beef and ham on my carvery, the meat was cooked to perfection, it melted in your mouth, the vegetables were lovely and tasty, if I were to be picky, my Yorkshire pudding was solid, but all in all, I’d highly recommend , I’ll definitely be going back again very soon, thank you to you and your staff.

Another great meal, my husband ordered the tomahawk which he’s never tried before, and he was really glad he made that decision, it did not disappoint. Doug had cooked it just to his liking. I had a vegetarian and Doug went above and beyond as usual, he always caters to my ( odd ) palate Doug, Kelly and the team all work really hard, always smiling and happy to chat. We always feel so welcome and leave with full tummies

We had a carvery here today, I can honest Say it was delicious, the meat was tender, plenty of choice with vegetables, the children really enjoyed their meal too, we’ll definitely be returning!

Booked a table to celebrate my husbands and grandsons birthday, the meal was terrible. Steak well overcooked, one meal undercooked . Steak ale pie microwaved to a crisp. Chicken tasted horrible, curry dry and no sauce, gammon thin and overcooked, pork ribs very dry. Three food dishes sent back to be cooked properly and everyones chips where luke warm. The vegetables where boil in a bag. Complained to the chef/Owner was very rude and unprofessional trying to course an agreement which my husband quickly defused. I don't agree with having to pay for a meal before it is brought to the table. In good restaurants you pay after your meal. The waitress was pleasant and polite and kept apologising. A scone of 1 is the best we can give. Please save your money and don't eat at this place.

Myself and my family came here for a mothers day carvery! Your welcomed in straight away and they find you a table to be seated. Theres 4 different meats to choice from and loads of fresh potatoes and veg. Complements to the chef doug foods amazing and all the team are very helpful & friendly. Mi hijo tenía nuggets de pollo y papas fritas, esta parte fue más que suficiente.Buena relación calidad-precio: la relación calidad-precio era en el lado empinada para lo que te ofrecen y lo que puedes conseguir en otro lugar que es tan bonito si no mejor y más barato.La pasamos muy bien aquí, sin embargo, una chica llegamos hacia el final de la comida (había una fundición en la pierna, o algo en ese sentido) me llevé a mi hija al coche mientras esperábamos para mi pareja y madre de terminar sus bebidas. Tuve mi hija en mi ordenador portátil en el coche y estaba cambiando el coche ida y vuelta (el aparcamiento no tienen a nadie en y los coches estaban todos papelería.) la chica pasado comentar en vez llegué al personal (que estaban claramente amigos o familiares) diciendo "él mejor no en coche con ella en su regazo" y fue descarado sobre mí tener mi hija en mi ordenador portátil. Mi compañero y madre sentamos justo al lado de ella cuando hablar de esto, muy poco respetuoso y por esa razón no regresaré aquí! Arruinó el día y la opinión que había en el lugar.La comida y el personal eran, nada para morirse. En mi opinión, guarde el viaje y hacer un viaje en un lugar donde sabes que tendrás más por tu dinero, mejor, la comida también, y el personal y un mejor ambiente.

Visitamos hoy para el almuerzo del domingo, junto con mi pareja y madre. Cuando llegamos nos dieron una cálida bienvenida y nos mostraron el restaurante-invernadero, que era precioso y calentito pero estaba vacío. Estábamos un poco preocupados en caso que eran las únicas personas comiendo pero pronto se suman cuatro más grupos para el almuerzo, para un ambiente encantador. Nuestra orden fue rápidamente adoptadas y nuestra petición de queso con el pan de ajo acomodaron sin ningún problema. La ensalada con los entrantes era agradable y fresco.Las porciones de la asado cenas eran generosos,la carne tierna, caliente y bien presentada. Por desgracia todos estábamos demasiado lleno para tener un dulce pero volveremos pronto.

So after reading some dodgy reviews on trip advisor , we decided to try the place.Even though there is a disabled access ramp it has a rather large step at the end, and it was a bit of a bump for our wheelchair user.Saying that good service and even better food plenty of time to digest our courses and the lovely young waitress was first class in service, excellent value for food and brilliant value at the bar .Food was hot and cooked perfectly and the portions are comparable to a large portion found in the USA.Friendly atmosphere and a nice clean bar/restaurant.All in all a great night out take my advice and give them a try

My wife and I ate there using a 10% discount voucher that's been hanging around our fridge for several months.I had fish, chips and mushy peas, she had scampi and chips (with a salad included).While the mushy peas looked like they'd come out of a can, everything else looked homemade and we've certainly had a lot of worse.Including drinks we paid £17 which we thought was fine.There weren't many people in the pub when we ate and no-one at all in the restaurant.It looks like a place that's struggling to get people to go there as it's a little off the beaten track and not the kind of place you know exists.The only issue with this place is that when you walk into the pub you smell beer, of course, it's a pub, so the smell of beer is normal? Yes... But it seemed to smell more than most. Also the windows in the conservatory looked liked they'd failed inside, so you can't see out of them as well as you should.

We went for a family lunch and having seen the menu beforehand we liked the look of it-varied and well priced. On arriving, we found a desolate and fairly shabby place with no one else around-including staff. We were eventually 'greeted' by the waiter (?) and shown to a table. 4 different meals came after about 20 minutes and although I was expecting the worst, I have to say that the food was delicious. Tasty, fresh and plenty of it. I'd recommend if you're going for food and not too bothered about the lack of atmosphere or the 'hills have eyes' style service-handy for the A55 and a much better option than McDonalds!!

One above a "layby" greasy Joes, just about. It is part of a caravan site and caters for people wanting cheap quick food, not a place for either a good meal or a night out. The "locals" are from the site and that is good as without them there wouldn't be much be much trade from the other locals.

After looking at reviews online I was very hesitant to visit Misty Waters! When my daughter and i arrived all was well, we were greeted by a very helpful and joyful young lady. So far so good, the waitress gave us both a menu and also discussed the specials which were on the black board in the restaurant. i'd just like to add how substantial the menu was, traditional pub grub but also some unique dishes, plenty of choice and a very wide variety of dishes to suit different peoples taste. Not only a wide variety but also very reasonable prices. I ordered the fish and chips and my daughter ordered the veg lasagne. Both meals were served hot and portion size of both meals were certainly great value for money! Both myself and my daughter were over whelmed by not only the portion size and value for money, but also the quality of the food, it was delicious. We received great service at a great price and we will definitely be back. Thank you for making our evening worthwhile.

First time visitors on a Sunday (early evening). Place was fairly quiet at first (which was a little concerning at first) but was getting busier with 'locals' by the time we left. Most of our party went for the Sunday roast with a couple selecting other dishes.All were well cooked and the portions were very good size - only thing that could have been better was the Yorkies which were slightly over-done. Overall though it was spot on.We dined in the conservatory area which was too hot at first and we asked for doors and windows to be opened. Another family came in and mentioned the heat but then left without ordering. Its a pity really as they missed out on a nice meal. However the front of house staff were all rather young and perhaps the manager should be looking at such issues on hot days otherwise they will be losing customers!Its a bit off the beaten track but I'd definitely visit again if in the area.

My boyfriend and I were looking for somewhere to eat after a long walk in the countryside whilst staying in the area. We weren't going to go here but I'm glad we did! It was empty when we went in but the guy there got us some drinks and took our order quickly. He was quiet and didn't say a lot but we didn't mind. The food took about 20 mins to come out as the guy who served us had to also go cook it. When it came, it was well worth the short wait. I had home made macaroni cheese (my fave meal!) that came with home made chips, salad and garlic bread. My boyfriend had a burger that came with chips, salad and coleslaw. Both meals were lovely, very tasty and could tell they were home made, unlike many 'chain' pubs that you cn eat at these days. The macaroni cheese was perfect, not to sickly and nice and crispy on top. The chips stole the show though - hand cooked and fluffy on the inside, we both commented on how nice they were. Out meals were £8 for the macaroni and £8.50 for the burger and I cannot express how good value for money it was - the portions were huge!Not sure why people have put some horrible reviews on here, I admit - as I'd never heard of the place, it did put me off but I'm glad I ognored them and went there for myself. Seems a shame when this place serves some good, honest food.People have commented on the cleaniness of this place on previous reviews and I cannot see why - the place was clean, tidy and tastefully decorated. It has a nice atmosphere and we will certainly be back as we've booked to stay close by again next year. Big thumbs up from us!

after being told how good this place was I was looking forward to a nice meal and a good night out. What I got was poor service and an average meal

Once was a good place to dine sadly during the last two months the quality of food being served has gone down hill .Sadly staff morall is rock bottom due to how they are being treated and spoken too what once was to be reccomended is now to be avoided.

We dine out here most every Sunday and in all honesty the food is excellent. Now and again we give somewhere else a go, but its always compared to here and has as yet not beaten it..Can only describe their roast as perfect...I cannot manage an adult meal and there is no problem when asking for a smaller size..The staff are friendly and make you feel welcome...Highly recommended

This place has become a weekend local for my friends and I over the past couple of months but I was wary about eating here because of all the reviews.Decided to give it a go on Sunday and so glad we did. Myself and my partner ate with our 2 children. Sunday lunch was absolutely gorgeous, very plentiful and a very good price. We paid £45 for four of us to have a large dinner and pudding and 2 drinks each.The tables were very clean and staff were very friendly and polite.

Having seen this place advertised on several occasions and recently saying been refurbished ,and a new head chef decided after even reading the mixed reviews would give it a go.Well i,m certainly glad i did,on arriving a young lady greated us and asked if we would like to eat in the pub type eating area (which i must say was nice) or the rear restaurant,me and my wife chose to go in the restaurant and what i must say what a beautiful room all table clothed plush seating and decorated lovely for christmas,we chose a nice bottle of the hous red wine(only £12.50)and set about deciding what to eat,the menu was full of good traditional dishes and the was also a special board,my wife chose prawn cocktail with a thai green curry for her main and i chose homemade pate and beef medallions with homemade mash and pepper sauce of the special board,well what can i say the food was well presented and plenty of it we were visited at the table on several occasions to ensure we were happy.Well the place gets a thumbs up from me not sure how it was before the refurb or new chef but its certainly 10 out of 10 from me and my wife and we will be returning early January with freinds

Booked a table yesterday (last minute) as we have tried several places on a Sunday for a good roast and have not been totally satisfied. I went with my partner and 2 children and was unsure on what we were going to get as never been before, I have to say the roast dinner was fantastic !, a really good serving and everything was so fresh, will certainly be returning, staff were lovely and friendly too and it was superb value for money. :-)

I am unsure why my first review has been removed....there was nothing offensive. I am a genuine, honest person who had the misfortune of being a customer at this establishment. The owner/ chef is trying to make out that there is a hate campaign going on. I can assure you I am nothing to do with any of the other people who have written reviews. This is a public, free-speaking forum to allow customers to voice their opinions. My opinion based on the one visit that I made in September 2013 is that Misty Waters is dirty, too hot and the food is not worthy of the price that it charges. Drinks were served incorrect and then spilled, the steak that I ordered was not served as requested. The table cloths (that others have mentioned) were stained and had food on them, the vinegar bottles had fat inside of them and there were flies everywhere. We had a baby with us and were appalled at the state of the place. These are not lies as I was accused of last time that I wrote a review and I am astounded that this man was allowed to write such a response back to me. I only wish that I had taken photographs to prove what I have written is the truth

Set in a lovely part of the North Wales Country side Misty Waters is a lovely place to call in for a bite to eat. Foods is always a good standard, and the stakes are excellent. On Sunday they do a home made Sunday lunch with a choice of 5 meats freshs veg and home made yorkies which are nice and big. Plenty of room in the dinning room with extra setting in the front bar. The kids love it with plenty of room to run and play outside and in the games room

Having visited this pub on several occasions for Sunday lunch decided to bring my family for a meal on Thursday the 26th September there was 7 of us 2 being children. As mNormal when we walked in we got a nice welcome of the young lady behind the bar, what we did notice on visiting for the first time in a evening was how warm it was and since our last visit noticed there was new carpet along side the wood floors.My daughter on her first visit was well impressed and after a good look at the menu made our choices myself I went for the steak and it was exceptional I like it medium rare and that's how it came and melted in my mouth,my daughter had a beef in black bean and loved it,having been before and loving sweets new to leave the starter the sticky pudding was mouth watering,all I can say is we will be back ,have noticed a few negative reviews some I am at a loss with possibly malicious I will make it a point next time to ask the owner what that was all about,however will only rate you 4 to keep you on your toes hehe great meal great atmosphere clean freindly and exceptional value thank you

Friendly and helpful staff. Warm welcome on arrival. Good honest and delicious home cooked food which is good value for money. Nice friendly atmosphere. Also child friendly which makes the place stand out when looking for somewhere to eat out with the children.

A typical country pub! Serving homemade food! No gimics, good prices and helpful staff! Caravan site so handy for A55 again reasonable site fee's and a warm welcome after arriving late at night after travelling in bank holiday traffic. As the saying goes don't knock it till you've tried it!

On arriving at misty waters we thought it looked really nice, once inside you could see immediately how dirty everything was, table cloths, cutlery, crockery. The carpet looked like it hadn't had a vacum for weeks, even the snail trails were old. When the waitress came for our order her clothing was absolutely filthy. It was then we realised why we were the only diners there at 1.15pm. We all ordered salad, when it arrived the portions were tiny, it should have been a starter. To be honest we couldn't wait to leave. We asked for the bill, it came in a leather wallet which was covered in dry crusty food. Never again. Poor hygiene, poor food, poor quality, poor everything. give it a miss.

Snail tracks. Unclean crockery. Foul greeting. Awful quality. Everyone ordered a salad, it was half a small plate of salad half bread and two cups of tea and two comes and 30 pound. No thanks. Was a family get together we ended up running away together.

Oh dear, avoid this place if you want to see a clean, crisp, tablecloth in front of you.We sat down to find we had dirty tablecloths. In fact, they had so many different stains you could have played 'spot the stain' game with them, Black stains, grey stains, grease stains, crumbs and flakes. Looking around we noticed other tables were in a similar state. We also checked the cutlery - and noticed food still attached to a 'clean' fork. This did not bode well for our meal.No surprises - just bland food with no taste. The leek and potato soup was sloppy leek with a minimal amount of potato that tasted of warm water. The Lasagna was similar and had no taste to it. Additionally the half roast chicken looked like a squashed sparrow.It was a relief to walk out,It would appear the local community already know not to come here because customers were scarce but If you want a nice evening meal - Don't waste your time and money here.

Having seen good advertisments in our local paper since it first openned, we have often said that we should go and try it and this Sunday we did. On first entering we had our doubts due to the 'feel' of it, one big room with a bar and stool seating, we did'nt see any other seating apart from to the left and right 2 conservatories used for dinning, the place just lacked atmosphere.We had a pleasant greeting, shown to one of the dinnings areas, and asked to pick a table ( there are about 12 tables and only 2 were occupied) this was when we knew we had made the wrong choice. The first 2 tables we saw, the table cloths were heavily stained with settings in place, the one we chose was the same, we were offered the menue with no offer of changing the cloth. We sat down and decided to leave after about 30secs.Is it rearly accepable to see tables set with dirty cloths? should you have to look around for a clean table? I think not. A reply by the owner to a similar comment previous was that it should have been brought to managements attention, should management not have training in place?It was a shame that we experienced this as the food is supposed to be very nice.

after just reading some of the review of some of the comment at misty water I find the not good as myself my husband good up to misty water twice a week we fine the staff so helpful food excellent and good value and we had lots of family party aswell

went there to have dinner with my mom and daughter ,my moms food was preheated and old my stake came wrong cooked and had plastic in a salad , when asked to change the food ,a chef agreed and was all ok until he started walking around a field with his chef whites and apron and went back to the kitchen. Who knows what he was doing in that field but seeing him going back to do the food it was horrific ...When I confronted him while paying my bill he started screaming and swearing at me in front of my child telling me that im nothing and hes a "god" and he can do whatever he likes, than he ran to our table grab the plates fool with food and took it away...,had no chance to finish our dinner that we paid for. We had to get police involved and he didn't bother to be honest, was very proud that did this to us and was telling how he kicked out so many costumers before so we ment nothing... Anyway food hygiene agency is involved in this matter now.

Went here for tea tonight with friends, one had roast dinner and came with no yorky pud, after asking one particular waitress several times, she eventually said they'd ran out and it was luck if the draw if you had one!!! The plate was sent back, one of the kids had chicken fillet burger, we got told they'd run out of baps but could they do it in some nice bread instead. It came out but all the bread was hard and when we complained about that the same particular waitress said " it can't be it's only just come in now ", this being Sunday at 7pm???, that plate got sent back too and the waitress huffed and puffed about it and NO apology! One of the nicer waitresses came to see what had happened and then told us we don't have to pay for the chicken, we then explained the whole situation and we were not paying for the roast that got sent back, after this the chef marched in ( also the owner ) and verbally abused us in front of 4 children and demanded we pay and get out, as we had apparantley been giving his girls grief, then promptly hid in the kitchen. PLEASE DO NOT. EVEN THINK OF GOING THERE YOU WILL BE VERY DISSAPPOINTED, and we were regulars there too
