Great food great view of Tynemouth and the pier and Tynemouth castle also their seats are very comfy and great interior from the tables to the seats decent coffee and good food and drinks. The staff are very welcoming and kind. But some of the sears require a certain amount of people which restricts the amount the tables you can go when its only the 2 of you but other than that this is a great place for a morning coffee

Looks the part... souless. Instructed where to sit. Our little girl was excited to sit in the round window seat, as we waited outside for opening time. Once inside we came to the table only to find a sign 'minimum of 6 people'. The table stayed empty our whole visit. Every table has a sign with a minimum capacity. Single people were instructed to sit on bar stools so they took up the minimum amount of room. We would have stayed and relaxed but it's no longer the place for relaxing, the atmosphere is non existant. Coffee is nice.

I like this cafe. Two things could improve it: alter the table service. You currently have to put your bag at a table and then go to order. Someone could steal your bag. How about take my order at the table or else let me order and then find a seat. Secondly, the music is often too loud for comfortable conversation. Please turn down. On the plus side, I like the fact that they use organic milk and the flat white is usually very good.

From being an old customer till today! I have never been so embarrassed and I don’t like the new shop or the staff… no tables inside so we sat outside, went and ordered 2 coffees, Millie shortbread and ham and cheese toastie. The shortbread was in a brown bag mmm strange I thought, coffees arrived in cups, my sandwich would be delivered… no sooner had I put the tray down, a girl appeared grabbed the tray and said no cups allowed outside…. The girls behind the counter were aware we were sitting outside!! She Returned with 2 paper cups with our drinks in! The final straw was my sandwich arrived in another brown paper bag!!!! I don’t think we will be going back to somewhere that just wants your money and not your custom… we are not holigans nor children and should not be treat as such.. I would advise anyone to avoid this shop customer service is non existent!

I had the worst coffee I’ve ever had here. As a coffee enthusiast, I make it a point to try coffee in many places. But I have never been to a place where the coffee is made with such careless disregard for quality. I queued up at the takeaway section and ordered an espresso, a cortado, and a black Americano. The coffee-making area is right in front of you, so you can see everything. Now, this would be a wonderful feature at a place that serves good coffee, but here it was a dreadful sight. Let me explain why. While waiting for about 10 minutes, I noticed there were two portafilters to the left of the barista. He was grinding and brewing coffee for customers, always using the same portafilter. This, in itself, isn’t a problem, but what I found shocking was that he wasn’t using the cleaning brush located under the grinder. As a result, the burnt coffee grounds from previous orders were still in the portafilter. This, apparently, is how they make their coffee. I watched as he prepared mine. He glanced at the portafilter, and I swear at least a third of it was filled with residue from previous brews. Without even bothering to clean it, he ground fresh coffee into the dirty portafilter, placed it in the machine, and served it to me. Unsurprisingly, it was the worst coffee I’ve ever tasted. So bad, in fact, that after a sip of each of the three cups, I threw them straight into the bin. In short, they make your coffee using some of the dirtiest portafilters you’ll ever see. Stand in the queue, watch the so-called ‘barista’ make the coffee, and you’ll witness their complete carelessness. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Note: This review is based on my experience on Sunday, 14th October 2024, between 1pm and 2pm.

Management need to look at they way they serve customers as the service is very very slow. They have plenty of staff but some seem to be standing around doing nothing. The atmosphere was very good and it is a very nice coffee shop. Therefore mixed reviews.

Lovely place for a coffee and I was greeted by friendly staff who found us a table . The coffee was really good and although I didn’t have any food there seemed to be a wide range . The only drawback was the queue which was a good 15 minutes while my friend sat alone waiting . I probably hit it at peak time . Will 100% return and try some of the cakes !

Terrible service from the takeaway hatch on Monday 16th. Surly young waitress came and put a sign up last minute and refused to serve us, saying we needed to come inside. Easier said than done with a young sleeping baby in a pram (which the waitress could see) What made it worse is that she served 3 to 4 people before us.

I go weekly to woods broadway for a coffee. I was excited to get a pumpkin spice latte for the 2nd week. I couldn't get the pumpkin spice syrup so I went for the special. I wish I hadn't bothered however. The coffee was beautifully presented but the taste can only be described as "textured". The toppings included pumpkin seeds which means you have to be careful as you might needs to chew them. The taste isn't as sweet as usual either. I think in the future I'll give this a miss and get a vanilla syrup instead.

Excellent coffee and great fruit scone with almost too much butter - no scrimping here. Came back later the same day for delicious loose leaf tea served in a big pot, and a large slice of banana and chocolate loaf - a winning combination. A shocking experience in this coffee shop this afternoon. After ordering a scone and a coffee and getting charged £8 I decided I needed a seat with back support. There was no suitable seating and I was asked to use the 3 seat table which I did.Midway through my snack I was asked three times to move to a backless seat which I refused to do. On the third time I felt so hounded out of the shop I just got up and left the shop without finishing my order. I would definitely not recommend this establishment. There are far more nicer coffee shops in Tynemouth, with a lot more pleasant staff. Don’t think I’ll be going back for a long time, if ever. Shocking service

It's a lovely looking cafe , great location but the service is terrible... there is more staff than I've ever seen in a relatively small cafe and yet have to queue for ages there's no table service and the ones actually making the coffee are on a go slow.. think it's crap to charge high prices to pay staff to stand around while the customer does all the work . Spoils the experience, whoever is running this place would be better paying good staff more money and getting rid of the dead wood... Suggestion if you have to queue for an hour to get a coffee and pay for it first, which I understand if there's a high turnover, could at least one of the dozens of staff standing around bring it to the table. So you're at least saved the medium of watching them try to make the drinks at a rate of a snail and a brusque attitude to go with it. put numbers on the tables it's pretty simple!! drinks are paid for already, might stop the big build up of folk in the doorway and a pile of staff standing around doing nothing I mean come on do you need two of them just to take your tray away ? the one I've had to carry myself to the table after losing an hour of my life waiting for a coffee...👍

We order our sandwich toasted but it arrived at the table cold so had to be sent back to be toasted. (Strange) the Sandwich btw was stunning, probably wouldn't have been not toasted, a banana milkshake that was very "meh" and a tea infusion that was wonderfully refreshing, busy little gaff and will call again.

This is a nice café in a perfect location in Tynemouth. It's certainly very trendy and has a nice outdoor area. However, I don't like that you have to pay a fair bit more for the vegan options, the plant milk is an extra 50p and the vegan ice cream costs extra. These are the more ethical options so should not cost the consumer more. If the prices can be made equal, it would go up a lot in my book as with all cafes that make the price the same.

I really like the food at Woods, but find the service can be quite slow with long queues. I am usually on my own and I like to sit inside, which can be difficult when it is very busy. When I arrive, I am shown to a seat - I then have to go and queue at the counter and when I get back, my seat has gone! It's ok when you have someone with you to 'keep the table', but not so easy on your own.

Woods have tried to go trendy. Cheese on toast- They've sprinkled tasteless cheese very sparsely on sourdough so the toast breaks your teeth. They have rude signs on the tables everywhere saying "only groups of (insert number here) can sit on this table". Two large* lattes and a hazelnut pain au choc for £11.70 isn’t exactly re-mortgage time but it ain’t cheap. When the large* lattes are normal cup size you feel like you’ve been politely mugged. No pun intended. I chose to ignore the ‘please wait to be seated’ sign in protest, and to reinforce my displeasure I dared to sit at one of the tables with the sign forbidding you to do so, unless there were at least 3 in your group. The experience was somewhat redeemed by the excellent pain au choc, and the decent coffee. The signs demanding customer compliance are all a bit unnecessary on a rainy Wednesday morning. I’d save them for the busy summer weekends.

I enjoyed very much holding that mug drinking the beverage I would also like to purchase one. ( it’s not cheap I still not afford it yet). The reason I always go back it is because sunny day and the mug. but it is always very full when good weather . 😝 don’t go in sunny day. If you don’t want to wait.. The foods such as pizza even it is not home made. But they are re-heat well in oven and putting some rocket leaves which made you satisfied. I hope they could maintain the standard for that. The most important is sitting inside very good atmosphere. It is really have good interior design and the owner had good taste also marketing positioning for his business . Even indeed quite crowded when in sunny day as table are very close. My girl always like cold drinks. It is always better than average.

Woods Coffee Shop presents a paradoxical experience. Despite an enticing menu and cozy ambiance, the service leaves much to be desired. During my visits on both 04/01/2024 and a separate occasion, the inefficiency of the staff became glaringly apparent. On my first attempt, after patiently queuing outside for 15 minutes, the staff displayed a lack of urgency. Upon reaching the front, I was redirected inside to join another queue, an unexpected inconvenience. Choosing an alternative nearby, Cullercoats Coffee Co., seemed the more viable option due to the sluggish service at Woods. Even upon passing by later, it was disheartening to see the same individuals I initially queued behind still waiting, highlighting the ongoing issue of slow service coupled with mediocre products. A second visit confirmed the consistency of this disappointing trend. Enduring a 40-minute wait in line, only to face similar treatment and lackluster service, amplified the frustration. While the establishment boasts avarage at best ambiance but a promising menu, the sluggish service overshadowed any potential enjoyment. Regrettably, despite the allure of their offerings, Woods Coffee Shop fails to deliver on timely service, leaving patrons disheartened and seeking alternatives for a more satisfactory coffee experience. After purchasing a 500g bag of whole bean coffee, I found even through multiple proven brewing methods, the product lacked in quality and was over roasted. Comparable to Starbucks whole bean coffee. Save yourself the sluggish service. It’s a shame to see so many members of staff standing around whilst other members of staff work.

Was served by a lovely girl called Rachel and she was so kind and attentive, answered all our questions and gave great recommendations. First time we went with the Turmeric latte, the matcha chai, and a hazelnut croissant - both drinks and food were amazing and they even had alternate milks; there are so many options though I didn’t know what to choose (decided to keep going until I make my way through the menu). Coffee addict pov. Probably one of the best cups of coffee in the North East, yes really :) Their prices are a bit high, but the quality makes up for it. Met the owner once, really nice lady and she supports mental health, which is always nice :)

Group of 5 seniors asked politely if we could sit at the round window seat. Declined as keeping it for a big party. Asked if the big party was booked, no but we still keeping it. The offered options were a high table or share a long table. Fine for Cafe to prioritise it's seating but we won't be coming back. Noone actually used the table in the hour we were there and we moved cafe for our lunch.

Nice little coffee shop in Tynemouth that offer everything a coffee a does to light meals and breakfast. Nice modern decor inside and friendly staff. Reasonably priced. Couple of negatives, they sat me on a bench / Side table at the window and was litterlly squeezed in among other customers, and secondly staff serving behind counter seem to be on go slow mode when serving.

I believe I've become recognised when I enter as they seem to remember what I want even before I've mentioned it. Excellent friendly staff and good vfm. Both coffee and food second to none ☕

We previously liked visiting this coffee bar but now it seems if there's only 2 of you, you have to sit at the tightly packed row of tables, rubbing elbows & swapping viruses, even when there's several other more comfortable seats available which have to be kept on the off-chance that a group of 4 come in (so we were told). Both times we visited recently those tables were vacant the entire time. Sadly we will be looking to take our loyalty elsewhere!!

I felt like an inconvenience, just because its busy, does not mean the service has to be brash. Tea was hot and vegan cheesecake was good.

Its not changed at all apart from the lush jukebox has gone. If you went 20 years ago its untouched brilliant blast from the past. Remember to switch your phone off!

Great team all extremely pleasant, also efficient. I'm a regular and basically my drink is on the counter. All I have to do is basically pay for it.

Been to Dodgins many times and the food is always excellent. Went tonight with my folks (plus dog) and despite them experiencing very difficult times (electrical issues, meaning kitchen problems obviously) they were as professional and courteous as ever. The young lady serving was fantastic and when the food arrived, it was as delicious as ever. Thankyou Dodgins Yard, you deserve to be packed out every day of the week. Keep doing what you do!
