Worst undrinkable latte ever. We took couple of mouthfuls and left it. Took ages to arrive at table. Doesn't matter if you only order drinks, you still have to wait until people who ordered bacon bap or similar before you have got theirs cooked and served! Obviously can't multitask although loads of staff hanging around. Always been pretty basic, no alternative milks, etc. but this was a new low and not cheap at £2.70 per coffee! Money wasted 😞

Great views over the sea better if you can get closer to the window but it's expensive. You generally expect more expensive for the area but £6 for a normal bun is a bit much, it was packaged and not freshly made. Tables are made for 2 but sit 4.

The cafe is typical of that seaside architecture. Coffee was well priced and decent. Food selection is nothing to write home about but reasonably priced. I don't understand the reason why you have to wait for a table when it's not table service though. Many people were waiting for a long time to be seated despite free tables.

Quaint historic seaside building. Serves a nice coffee at a reasonable price, food is well priced but nothing to write home about. Very busy and noisy, you have to wait to be seated despite it being counter service? Car park is paid for, priced reasonably enough but 5 minutes walk away you can park for free in the large briardene car park.

My last review was during COVID so things are a different now Built in 1930, The Rendezvous is an island of calm in stormy times. Recently refurbished it still feels a Victorian seaside oasis. Born on Tyneside I lived away for many years, but always visited when 'back home' which is where I have returned to live. My children and now grandchildren love the place as they can drop their ice-cream on the uncarpeted floor without fear of reprisal. Then huge hot-dogs are their favourites. The menu has never been extensive as there is no kitchen, but apart from cakes and sandwiches there are hot-dogs, burgers, toasted teacakes, tea, coffee and of course ice-cream. To be honest their scones are made by someone with a heavy hand, but the bacon and the sausage rolls are first class on a cold day, or even a warm one. Toilet facilities are in an adjacent building and there is a pay and display carpark.

first ever visit today. sadly it will also be our last. we ended up leaving before we even got any food. waited in the long queue whilst my wife and son went to find a table. i dont mind waiting thats not the problem. when i got to the front i started to state my order and was interrupted by the teenager taking my order asking “wHeRe u SiTTinG?!” so i looked around and noticed they had settled at a table just outside the front door. I said that table out there. To which the teenager responded with “WeLL u NeEd To oRdEr OuTsIDe aT tHe WinDoW!” so i said “so i need to go and queue again in a brand new queue even though its the same kitchen? the teenager then just went “YeP!” at this point i couldnt be bothered with the lack of common sense or the rudeness so we went elsewhere. wont be going back. staff could do with some customer service training. kids today eh!

Staff attitude was absolutely rotten on my last visit. It's a shame really, as we used to attend here on a weekly basis. On the last occasion I requested an ice cream in a cone like I have done so in the past, only to be barked at by staff saying I would have to order from the window hatch and I would not be able to sit in with my daughter. When I pointed out that it was the hotest day off the year and that i was in company with an 18month old and that only the week prior I had ordered the exact same and had been served inside I was called a liar and I was making it up 🤷🏻♂️ its a shame really but will be taking my custom elsewhere from now on.

Been coming here for years, today I was so dissapointed. Understand they are busy but all I asked was how long will it take when I went back to the counter after waiting for coffees 15 minutes. Our time was limited. Greeted with a snappy young girl making the coffees. After 25 mins I looked over to the counter and she was shouting over the whole cafe becayse I looked over. It was embarrassing, I asked to see the manager but she had no interest in the matter. I'm a carer and bring alot of my clients here, but never again. Not after today's show, coffees 35 mins which didn't help. Went back in and the manager was completely rude, very unprofessional.

Order some coffees from here at the "take away" hatch. It felt like they were doing me a favor taking my order. No non-dairy milks and when requested I was met with "oh we dont do that sort of thing"....what, join the 21st century. A beautiful iconic building with its food and beverage stuck firmly in the past. Worst coffee i ahve ever had, 2 sips then threw it in the bin. It was like a budget £1 a jar coffee from Lidl....yuk ! We were asked to wait to be seated. The waitress came very quickly to show me a seat. I waited for over 6 minutes (I got fed up of waiting, then set a stopwatch) before I could get a waitress's eye to ask for a menu. You don't get one, you have to go to the counter to order. The menu was very small. I ordered a bacon roll and a cup of tea, which came quickly and had been freshly prepared. The place is very noisy, there are no soft furnishings to absorb noise. Dogs are welcomed, but there was one there which upset the other dogs.

We ordered 3 drinks (2 coffees and 1 bottled drink to specify) we were waiting for over 30 minutes when its a very small order. We then proceeded to ask one of the 5 staff members working and she said “We’re busy with the outside customers.” This is quite unappealing because you cant just focus on one specific area. In a normal restaurant you never wait 30 minutes fir a small order. The coffee I received had just tasted like water and not a actual coffee you can make at home.

My favourite place in Whitley Bay. Even though it pretty much hasn't changed in decades, that sort of adds to the charm of this cafe. You can sit and enjoy the amazing views along the prom and beach from here which is very welcome on a cold or rainy day. We have spoke to loads of total strangers in here when we stroke their dogs. Messed up our order for drinks, when I asked someone if they would check she 'barked' back at me about orders being made up in a queue system , not asking how long we had been waiting. She was rude and aggressive. Turns out they had forgotten to make out drinks yet no apology from this gruff stressed out woman, who apparently was the owner. Then waited ages again so I went to cancel the order when miraculously they appeared. We took them in take away cups in the end having been in there way over 25 minutes between order and collection . The blonde lady who had taken our order apologised and was lovely. The other woman didn't ever, even when it was acknowledged that the order had been forgotten. Also yappy dog in the corner was irritating Thankfully our company was good but I certainly wouldn't rush back to give that woman any more business. Will be sticking to the art cafe coffee shop at the back in future where the customer service is way better than the Rendezvous.

Absolutely disgusting. Bought an icecream cone and was slightly cold outside so thought it would be nice to sit in. Not only was the atmosphere inside rundown enough already however, a blonde woman with curly hair told us to “leave unless we had a tub”with no explanation to why. Bare in mind no where on the outside or inside on the building does it state that we needed to leave because of this. As I was getting up to leave, was told again. This time with a boycotting tone and a snarky grin. A woman had came up to a family member (who I could not leave without) and was talking about our dog. Bare in mind it had not even been 2 minutes and at that point the blonde lady stated “I need you out”. When I exclaimed that I needed to wait for my family member she then said to just “wait outside then”. After leaving, we asked management for her name and had no good response other than “that’s not in her nature” and that the manager “was management”. Disgusting way that they treat customers when they dont display the rules of the cafe.
