The Mish is a Tobermory institution and deservedly so. Its Mishdish restaurant is warm and homey, with a reasonably priced menu whose componentsare mostly sourced locally. We had a lovely evening there over a bottle of wine and excellent and generous servings of seafood and veggie specialities. For starters we had oysters, haggis bites, and a vegetable tartlet, followed by mains of langoustines, hake and a wild mushroom bourgignon with celeriac mash. Everything was served with courtesy and care for the customer. We will surely be back.

We wanted something memorable as the last meal of our holiday and Mishdish did not disappoint, We enjoyed excellent food with good service in a pleasant atmosphere and for me the highlight was the grilled langoustines, which were first class. We would very happily come back here anytime, and thoroughly recommend it.

A really delightful little restaurant next to the famous Mishnish pub. Food was delicious and plenty, there is often even lobster, langoustines and the like 🦞 fresh from the sea with yummy side dishes and lovely large Fish and chips for those who like it less expensive! Service was very friendly and efficient with gorgeous Goisa and lovely Leo in charge who helped to chose wine and beers! Goisa had taken our reservation and the other day we also met Lauren, all of them a great asset to the business of both restaurant and bar. Thanks a lot, we’ll certainly come around again at Christmas!

Visited on a too short 1 day visit to Mull. spent most of the time in Tobermoray in the Mishnish Hotel. great find had the seafood platter for 2 with extra langoustine (definitely didn’t need the extra but delicious). Great gins in the public bar to start with, really friendly helpful staff, at £56 for 2 of us including additional Langoustine it was amazing value. Friendly, helpful, delicious ..we’ll be back

We looked forward to a special lunch here after reading great reviews but sadly it went very wrong. Having ordered langoustine for him and scallops for me we waited and waited and waited. After 30 minutes we asked why no lunch and we were then told that a mistake had been made on our order and 2 scallops had been ordered and actually husband couldn’t now have the langoustine (strange we saw some delivered to another table) because they had just come in and wouldn’t be available for an hour but he could have scallops and we would only have to pay for one. We said ok. And waited. And waited.Another 10 minutes, and they arrived....and were almost cold.On complaining we were told they could be reheated (no thanks!) or choose something else. We had a ferry to catch so another long wait was not an option. We expressed our dissatisfaction with the whole experience...and the waitress burst into tears and just walked away. We did not get angry and were not in any way abusive, we had a justifiable complaint. No one came and spoke to us though our side order of chips had arrived by this time. We waited for someone to come but no one did. So we got up and left. The waitress watched us go! I am not sure why this was such a horrible experience. Earlier I had overhead a neighbouring table unhappy with their order, but others seemed to be enjoying their food, which is all we wanted to do. The restaurant was not busy, had a nice ambience and clearly others have had good meals there, but this fell far short of what it should have been, and we didn’t get our special lunch. I have never posted a negative review before but I was so disappointed.

We pre booked our table due to the limited tables (covid) and the restaurant was full. The staff were a little surly but we received our food promptly. Unfortunately my dessert arrived with a fly on it, I alerted the waitress who was apologetic and appeared about 5 minutes later to tell me that the chef said it must have been because there were raspberries on my dessert....... I was offered a replacement but chose to decline. The waitress said that the cost of the dessert had been removed from the bill. When we got the bill, the dessert hadn't been taken off so we had to wait agin for this to be rectified. It's a shame that there was this issue because our first two courses were fantastic and we would probably eat there again.

We arrived and a couple in front of us had not booked given nice table, we had booked and got the worst table in the restaurant. Prices are good, staff are spot on. We had mussels which were small but full of flavour and we had langoustines, nice size and well cooked. Moroccan stew was a little spicy but just fish and liquid, could have done with some vegetable through it. Sea bream was well cooked. Chip had skin on and not crisp. Selection of cheese was lovely and average coffee

We had high expectations having read some of the reviews and as this was my wife’s special birthday we were really looking forward to our meal. The ambiance was good and Covid Protocols being observed (1 meter). The table mats were greasy around the edges which didn’t give a good first impression. Started with Monkfish Scampi which was very nice but could have had the oil drained off for a bit longer. Followed by the traditional Fish & Chips where, again, the batter let the otherwise very nice fish down by not having been drained properly. My wife’s Sea Bream was dry. Chips were, well, burnt and dry. The restaurant was busy as we were reminded by one of the staff when we asked politely again for drinks which were very slow in coming. This left an impression. Anyway in summary, a bit rushed, a bit in-polite at times, and if we had ordered something without batter we may have enjoyed the food better, do not consider our meal was value for money.

We visited Mishdish over the weekend and what a lovely little place it is. The decor is really sweet, the food was great and if you’re lucky enough to get a table towards the front of the restaurant like we did, you get absolutely beautiful views across the harbour. We would absolutely recommend the oysters and the langoustines to start. I had the Lobster Thermidor which was cooked perfectly; melt in the mouth lobster and the sauce wasn’t too overpowering as some can be. My partner had the steak which being honest, we felt was a bit mediocre and the chips were very dry so both agreed it’s better to stick to the seafood as that’s what they do best. The only niggle we had was that we did feel a bit rushed so we have to agree with some earlier reviews. With quite a few places still closed due to Covid, it feels like the Mishdish are trying to get as many covers in as possible (which is understandable, appreciate they need to keep the money coming in!) but as a result they’re very time conscious and they make it felt. Our whole meal was ordered, served and finished in less than an hour then we were told our table was needed shortly after - ideally we’d have liked another drink and 10-15 mins for our food to go down before we ordered a dessert but it was a case of paying the bill and heading home not too soon after having headed out.“Rushed-ness” aside, we appreciate it’s more to do with the current climate than anything else so would still definitely recommend.. the Lobster is a must!

Accidentally reviewed on the hotel website! We prebooked Mishdish for 3 evenings before coming to Mull as it was evident that many restaurants were closed, it's a good job we did as they were super busy. The team are doing a great job under Covid restrictions, it can't be easy doing a service job in a hot and busy restaurant wearing a mask, Everything we've eaten crab, lobster, langoustine, scampi, halibut has been superb and a great wine list that really compliments the fish. Service could be a little sharper especially paying in the bill, but we were very grateful for some delicious food and we've booked a 4th time before we leave!

This was our last night of a 10 day break in Scotland. Every meal we had was exceptional and it was a shame to leave on a low note. The food was delicious. Scampi and dressed crab for starters and scallops for mains. All was very nice indeed. We had to ask for cutlery for both our courses and sat without drinks on two occasions trying to order more. Not the end of the world I know but £100 for a meal for two should have better service. The staff were all very pleasant and maybe something had gone wrong that night but dining out should be relaxed and enjoyable and sadly our dinner there was not.

My wife then had the half lobster thermidor, and I had Halibut. Both meals first class. Throw in a few glass of wine, sides of chips and a bread basket, and not a bad meal at all.For an even more pleasant surprise - our bill was only £70!! As we were on Mull at the end of October, our choice of available restaurants was somewhat limited. However, we really landed on our feet here. The restaurant was light and spacious and the service friendly. However, the highlight was certainly the seafood. My monkfish was fine but the standout dish was undoubtedly my wife's langoustine. We recently had an unsatisfactory dinning experience at Mishnish. It began with the waitress refusing to help us with what beers were being served. After telling us they had many to choose from I said wonderful what are they at which point she told me that there were to many for her to name. When I asked how could I choose she said I can select for you if you tell me what you like. I offered to go around to the bar in the hotel to select one and she told me that would not be possible. At that point I gave up and said I would just drink water. For dinner we decided to order the seafood platter for two, it sounded good and of course we were on the isle of Mull. My wife asked if the meal would be warm and if it would have bread and other accompaniments. She was told that it would be abundant and warm. What we were presented was far short of our expectations. First of all the meal was almost entirely cold and served at a refrigerated temp. There was only a 1/2 Lobster portion. A small side salad and there thin slices of bread. When we asked our waitress if the small salad and bread were meant to be shared she answered yes. She said she could bring us another salad which seemed reasonable however when we received our bill we were charged for an additional salad. The cold seafood food was quiet bland. The only given to accompany the crab claws , langoustines and small portion of lobster was mayonnaise and yellow mustard?????? It was completely disappointing.

My friend and I were here last week. She said that her chowder was 'fine but nothing special, especially for the price'. I ordered the chilli and ginger tofu; 'delighted to find something vegan that wasn't another veggie burger and chips. Anyhoo... when it arrived it was tiny, the tofu consistency was of wet crumbs and there was no hint of ginger or chilli, just salt.... tons and tons of salt. We'd nearly finished when the waitress tore herself away from chatting with the bar staff to ask if our meal was okay. I answered as I have written here and she asked if there was something that I'd like instead (there wasn't as I'm vegan). I said that I'd need to finish it as I was hungry and probably now unable to find anything else somewhere else (plus my pal was done and we had plans time wise). It's a shame as it's a lovely place and in a beautiful location.

Nice restaurant, but disappointing meal. Seems in the UK well cooked and presented seafood is a near impossibility. Here I ordered Morrocan fish stew, what came was a shallow bowl with a few mussels, some white fish done in an onion and tomato sauce. Not sure how this could be called Morroccan, but there you go. My wife had small size fish and chips, accompanied by very soggy fries. Fish dish was cheap, the Stew was appropriately priced had it resembled at all what it's title was. Moreover the girl spoke our language (we are Italian) and made us feel a bit like we were at home! It was a pleasure to talk to Dana! Thanks to her we also discovered the pub next to the restaurant, which is also part of the Mishdish. There we ended the evening with a pair of Guinness and excellent local whiskey! We had high expectations of this restaurant but they weren’t met. They were clearly short staffed and this made service feel rushed and a little frantic. On arrival, despite booking our table weeks ago, we were told that we only had it for 1.5 hours. That was enough time but even for busy restaurants in Glasgow, it’s a tight time slot. The crab stack was good once seasoned adequately. The salmon in a pea and chorizo broth was again under seasoned and what would have been lovely crisp skin on top was rendered inedible by some of the broth being poured on top before serving. The presentation lacked refinement. The best course was pudding but the delicious cheeses and ice cream were bought in so the hotel can’t take credit. We’re here for a week but we won’t be eating here again.

My hand cooked chips were good, but some of group were served poorly cooked frites without any apology. They had run out of hand cooked chips. My side dish of Caesar salad was rather drab. sone if our party ordered steak which was extremely tough and could not even be cut even with a steak knife. When raised with the waitress she agreed to replace as the chef would “try and cook it better”. Unfortunately the chef again failed in his attempt to cook a steak which was not dry and leather like. We again raised this with the waitress who now called herself the manager. She confirmed that there was nothing wrong with the steaks and was extremely rude. She refused to replace or deduct from bill even though it was inedible. We were a reasonably sized party and to acknowledge our complaint would have taken our complaint to resolution. This young waitress claims she is the manager, if this is true the owner of the business must be unaware of the quality and service offered within this Resturant. Enjoyed a lovely meal here during our stay on Mull. A very well set out restaurant next to Tobermory harbour. The service and food was excellent. Highly recommended.

Dana is a very pretty and cute young lady. Our English is short and she does'nt speak french, however every dish we order has been served. "with sauce or not and so.." oysters, mussels, scallops were excellent.

We ended up going in here because we couldn’t get in at Cafe Fish as they were so busy. When we arrived there were only 3 other people there which should have told us something. My wife had mussels which she said were good. I had hake which was OK. Unfortunately it came with braised leeks and they had been braised in what tasted like a meat stock which affected the taste of the fish significantly. It was also served with broccoli which was over cooked.

We came in off the street, although pretty busy they accommodated us. I had scallops as a starter, followed by monkfish then ice cream. The attentive staff Lucille and colleagues were first rate and the quality of the food excellent.

One of the only places open at lunch on a rainy Tuesday in March at Tobermory. The restaurant side was completely empty except for us but what a feast we had! Scallops, mussels, fish & chips, and Mishnish ale were consumed and everything was heavenly, even the chips. The waitress was very helpful and friendly. Best meal we had on the island, highly recommended!

What fabulous service. Sit in or take out. It was small and snug with tables down and upstairs. I had the grilled sea bass, which was so good. Hubby rated the fish and chips very highly, higher than a restaurant we had been in [ on Oban Harbour] a couple of days earlier. He enjoyed it, but George Street excelled.

Value for money with sitin as an option. Jumbo sausage is two big sausages and loads of chips too.

Nice place with a refined but friendly feel. Food to a high standard and good portions, unexpectedly affordable too in comparison with just about anywhere we'd ever eaten. Recommended. Update, should have said before. Wife had absolutely chronic shits around 20 minutes after leaving. Shocking.
