Mischief's Cafe Bar in Cardiff

The music is great here!! Friendly and welcoming place majority of the time. However, on occasions there are a number of youngsters hanging around outside, this is quite intimidating.

Went along with the family for Sunday lunch to celebrate my Birthday, the food was amazing so tasty choice of meats great and plenty of it. Staff were so lovely friendly attentive could not do enough for you and the bonus was they had a great musician/Singer which made the afternoon a great experience. Look forward to our next visit. Highly recommend.

We came across this pub but chance. Called for a drink. Didn’t eat but Sunday Roast looked lovely and people said it was excellent. Made to feel really welcome by the owner and the lady behind the bar. Definitely going back next time we visit the bay.

The Sunday roast is excellent and customer service is great. Defo worth a visit. £8.95 for one meat or £11.95 I believe for three meat. Didn’t order the mixed meat as the portions are quite large but my partner did and really enjoyed.

Had a Sunday roast takeaway today from here and it was absolutely first class, I have known Richard the chef for many years and his food is always good but this was outstanding; tasty, hot, properly cooked and great value. Will definitely be using this place more, nice one guys 👍

Food is always good here, my favourite is the Lasagna. Today, however, I asked for a sunday lunch via delivery. Swift, delicious and plentiful. Thanks again Mischiefs

Had the pleasure of taking my wife and daughter for Sunday lunch. We were heading over to Cardiff bay. As we were driving past Mischiefs we noticed they did Sunday roast lunch. What a suprise the food was really well presented and very well cooked, one of the best Sunday roast dinners I've had for a long time and i will definitely be returning. At the end of the meal the manager came over and gave me the bar phone number so we could book a table and have a little more of an option with the vegetarians meal really helpful and nice staff. So if you like a good Sunday roast dinner give it a go you wont be disappointed.

The craic was mighty in this very well run pub. We visited for a St Patrick's Day lunch and ended up staying for most of the night. A combination of excellent bar staff and a host that personally greeted everyone made this visit all the more enjoyable. If you are in the area this premises is well worth a drop in.

Excellent for Xmas party & close to Mermaid quay. Excellent food and good value with a good atmosphere.

We love this place, the management are incredibly friendly and a fantastic place to hold a private party or event. Good Location down Cardiff Bay and is very reasonable. Had some great nights here!

Just had Sunday Lunch at Mischief's .It was absolutely lovely.Generous portions of meat and vegetables. The staff were friendly and helpful . It's difficult to find a place in the City where the food is good and drinks reasonably priced. We will certainly be going back.

Excellent service from management door and bar staff they were all lovely and make u feel really welcome. Will definitely been using more regular.

The outside looks rather uninviting, worked out they did food by the ‘All day breakfast’ sign. Limited menu, food however is very good and a great place to rest for awhile, interesting building and very clean.

We popped in here for a drink on Bank hol Monday and had a few beers. Made to feel really welcome by the locals and prices were really reasonable. We shall have more beers there. 🍺

4 of us eat here twice and the food was stunning and also very cheap as to what we would nomrally pay for a meal. Classy little bar, We would defo return here.

Myself and family visited for a special occasion Sunday meal and it was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and filling. Desserts were wonderful. All in all a great experience and we will return.

El personal era increíblemente acogedor e hicieron un gran esfuerzo para crear un ambiente animado, aunque existen muy pocos clientes en esa noche. Sin duda, volveremos.

Fui con las chicas para salir por la noche. La dirección no podía hacer lo suficiente para garantizar las personas estaban pasando un buen rato! Yo sólo puse mi orden la primera vez que me acerqué al bar, el resto de la noche fue devotamente a mí. Absolutamente genial! Una persona recuerda lo bebimos, pero el lugar estaba lleno de mermelada. Servicio de atención al cliente genial. Sonriente, y director haciendo un paseo agradable recoger vasos. Preguntar a la gente si necesitaban algo. No tienes que en Wetherspoons! Parecía un poco teniendo en cuenta la decoración interior overdressed, pero un verdadero caballero. Una mención especial a la preciosa Kate, que era una auténtica delicia. Otra vez sonriente, y a veces de baile! Este lugar es un tesoro escondido y está llena de diversión, evitar a su riesgo.

Brill night every saturday night at mischiefs cafe bar. The barstaff and managers are all fantastic i would recommend this for a night out for the over 30's.

good food but the owner keeps ALL tips, ostensibly for 'breakages'. best to ask who serves you if the tips go to them.

Had the absolute pleasure to spend August Bank holiday Sunday here with a group of friendsOn a glorious day we sat upstairs and savoured the 3 course lunch. It was outstanding, we all really enjoyed the plentiful portions which were all cooked to perfection by James the chef.The wine and drinks flowed very freely and we stayed through the night to soak up the evening entertainment which was brilliant.Mischiefs I will be back thank you

It's so friendly staff amazing affording drinks and lobe entertainment is very good Saturday nights are the best

Went there with mý Dad for my birthday treat and we loved the food which was served as asked for very freindly staff will definitely return .

Went here on Sunday and turns out there was a karaoke night on, although they seemed to be having some technical difficulties they managed to keep the night going with a bit of friendly banter. Really enjoyed myself with the cheap drinks and friendly staff couldn't do more for you . Will definitely be back Cheers

Came here for a drink before going out before the rugby.The bar was empty and the manager was very rude even though he should have been thankful for the customers. The drinks were flat and an absolute waste of money and the manager refused us a refund and got very, very angry when we asked about the drinks.

Called there on a sat nite what a fab place very friendly . The music was great everyone up dancing can't wait to go again

Visited as part of a night out with friends and found it to be one of the most welcoming places I have ever found. A great cross section of patrons of all ages and superb live music and atmosphere.

The bouncer stooped myself and my friend from entering the bar be apaches we were wearing pumps and yet a guy was allowed in wearing trainers. When questioned the bouncer said my manager has said that pumps are not allowed but if we were to pay him £5 entry fee (normally free to get in) then we could get in. At this point we turned away as truth be told it ain't worth it's free entry.

It's a club by night and an excellent restaurant by day....especially their Sunday Lunch. I'd highly recommend Mischiefs for one of the best Sunday roasts I've ever eaten. The yorkies were perfectly enormous and the beef cooked to my liking - yummy rare!Brilliant value for money and was more than surprising in quality.If you're in Cardiff Bay on a Sunday you should definately pay this place a visit.....Brilliant grub!!

Had a great birthday celebraton at Mischief's on Sunday 20 October. Food was great and we were all well looked after by the staff. There were 12 of us catered for and later in the afternoon more friends came for afternoon drinks. We will be coming back again for lunch and will have no problem with recommending Mischief's. I have also been here on Saturday evenings and the atmosphere is just fab and always an enjoyable night out.

I have visited this bar twice for Sunday lunch and both times failed to disappoint. The service is very good and the food is simply fantastic. Beautiful beef cooked to order, excellent choice of vegetables and home-made Yorkshire pudding. I've never quite managed a pudding though as the portion size on the main course is more than enough. I honestly can't say enough - just try it for yourself and I'm sure you will return. I definitely will!

Excellent value. The beef was cooked to order & it was, as requested, medium rare. The staff were welcoming & efficient & the ambience was very pleasant. I'd recommend it.

I also ate breakfast at this establishment when it first opened and was served with croissants that were basically just raw dough. Not to mention the rest of the food was awful. They also got my order wrong and didn't offer any refund.I again stress that this happened when the establishment first opened (a few years back) and they definitely, DEFINATELY served croissants (in their uncooked form ...) at this time. So either Shaun was not the manager at this time, or if he was, he isn't being particularly honest in his response on this forum.The reason i'm writing this review now is because of the managers response to a reviewer who had the same experience that I did. Perhaps Mischiefs have upped their game since, but at that time, that is exactly what happened.

This is the second time I’ve called in at Mischief’s for breakfast when visiting Cardiff Bay. Only a short walk from the Wales Millennium Centre. I chose the large breakfast including bacon, egg, hash browns, baked beans, sausages, black pudding and mushrooms. Great value. Staff were friendly, the place was clean. Quiet at that time of day.

My wife and I had Sunday lunch here recently via a Living Social voucher offer. We had the roast dinner. Very generous portions of beatifully cooked meat and a good selction of real home cooked veg. One could have pork,chicken,beef or lamb or even a mixture of meats. It came with Yorkshire pudding if required. Plenty of extra gravy on offer plus all the mustards, and sauces. The service was faultless. The ambience very relaxing.The wine was very reasonable. So all in all I have no hesitation in recommending this corner cafe/bar in James Street which is just a 5 minute walk from the Cardiff Bay cafe area or the Wales Millennium Centre. You will find the short walk well worth it.

I ordered a croissant here for breakfast and upon biting into it found that although the outside was warm, the inside was uncooked wet dough. It must have been frozen then not properly cooked. It was disgusting. No one in the restaurant seemed concerned and didn't offer a refund. I left.

Great sunday lunch - great value - superbly cooked and the management and staff really try to make the most of your visit.Well done. Not the prettiest location but atmosphere more than makes up for it.

Okay the name is a bit cheesey and the signage garish, but get inside the drinks are cold, food sizeable adn tasty, decor quite nice, spacious and there is a good crowd of friendly people with good service

Purchased via KGB Deals a while ago when I knew I was going to Cardiff for 5 days. Located in Cardiff Bay (back street, so wouldn't have come across it without looking for it). Decided to 'claim' the full English breakfast and a hot drink for 2 on Saturday 17th Sept 2011, before leaving Cardiff to come back home. Phoned before hand to check they were open on a Saturday. They were. It does have large screen TV's in there which were showing Rugby, but other than 2 other people in the place it was quiet. Breakfast was excellent containing mushrooms, fried egg, baked beans, sausage, crispy bacon (just the way I like it), hash brown and a round of toast which I and my husband both washed down with a cup of tea (husband also purchased an OJ for a very reasonable £1.50).I can definetly recommend the food and not reduced portions even though we had a KGB deal - the barman/waiter was a happy chappy too. There was parking on the road outside which is limited to no return within 2 hours. Room for about 10 cars, else you may have to park in Cardiff Bay itself which was steep parking charges.
