Went with a friend for a birthday meal and had the £14.95 special offer and you really can't go wrong. Choose a starter, main, rice and side, all for £14.95. I had the Chicken Tikka to start, which was exceptional - probably one of the best Chicken Tikkas that I've ever had. For a main course I had the Chicken Pathia which was tasty. The onion bhaji side order was crispy and not soggy, and you got three of them, which seemed very generous. Portion size initially seemed quite small, but it was actually spot on. So often you can barely walk for eating too much, but I felt really good and had plenty to eat. Try it every weekday Monday to Thursday, I'll certainly be going back. Loved every second with easy parking and great customer service.

Have been using this restaurant on and off for years and to be fair the quality of the food is always good no complaints what so ever apart from sometimes it’s quite a wait owing to takeaway orders

Ordered a takeaway 45 mins for delivery arrived after an hour, food stone cold! Prawn on purée cold tasteless and the pancake was greasy also cold, chicken pasanda tasted like a Korma also cold, mushroom rice was ok but cold, they sent the wrong dish for myself, rang them up, 40 mins later my correct dish arrived COLD! My keema Nan was very thin at one end and extremely thick at the other, the thick side wasn’t even cooked, it was still raw dough, very lazy cooking in my opinion! Most of our food was binned! Complete waste of £36 overpriced rubbish, never again will we waste our hard earned cash at this place ever again!

We went in there with my dad and my freind and it was lovely until I finished my mains and started to feel violently ill. I was sick the whole ride home and my stomach was doing flips; i then later had diarrhoea making me think the chicken was not cooked enough. Don’t recommend, never going back.

Stale meat in oilly gravy presented to your table without even a smile in a deserted restaurant!! Why? did I even contemplate on going into this place in the first place... I mean seriously thou how does a place like this stay in business? PPL Please stay away its far from good in any sense of the word.

It's one of the best restaurants in town.. they open the door in 1976.. it's open today... they must be doing something good...I guess... So many test is closed... But mintoo Indian restaurant is open... Thanks mintoo..

Absolute rubbish. I called in to try this place out, I certainly won’t be going back. The service was poor, had to wait ages to order my main course, don’t know why as there were only 5 other people in the restaurant. I ordered a Madras chicken curry, it was awful, hardly any chicken, the rice portion was the smallest I have seen anywhere. There are much better Indian restaurants locally. I recommend you shouldn’t waste time and money with this place

Table booked for 8.15 food didn’t come out til 9.45 had to ask for plates and cutlery my children were hungry the place wasn’t even packed out but the staff couldn’t keep up. Warm Diet Coke served with 1 cube of ice - wrong food I asked for a pathia god knows what I got. overpriced and can’t keep up with the menu they offer. Wish we hadn’t bothered. Disappointment

Just had the best takeaway we've had in many years ( as moved away) everyone's meal was hands down the best we've all tasted, fresh veggies and tender chicken. Very very impressed 👌

Having read previous reviews we debated on which Indian restuarent to visit. We wanted to seek our own opinion and were very pleased with the quality of the food and the service, based on this visit very happy to recommend.

This was the first time we used mintoos it was more expensive than our usual Indian and not as nice. Won’t be making that mistake again!We got it delivered which was in the hour they said, but when I unpacked it I realised a rice was missing, When I phoned them to say there was a rice missing he said he will give us a free rice next time! And tried to palm us off by saying we got an extra nann by mistake which we didn’t we just got the 2 nanns we ordered. There was No offer to deliver the rice we have paid for to go with this meal.

This is our local Indian and have used it regularly over the last couple of years, but after the treatment we received today we (a group of 15) will not be returning. We arrived without booking just hoping the could fit us all in and they did accommodate, However they should have turned us away as they clearly could not cope with a large group nor did they want us there. We were actually shhh'ed by a member of staff when we were talking and then after sitting there for over two hours and not having received any food we complained, they did then bring the starters out but for those of us who eat there often knew the standard of food was well below average. One waiter carelessly threw a knife down on the table directly in front of a three year old child whicheft their parents horrified! We left imediately after the starters and cancelled our meal. They were visibly not happy with us being there and we were made to feel not welcome. It is such a shame as we have always enjoyed coming here and always recommend it to others but after this visit we will not be returning. Being such a large group they should have told us they couldn't sit us as they were incapable of their usual standards.

Used this restaurant for over 30 years was there on opening night but the last 2 deliveries have been awful so sadly I will no longer use this restaurant I have used for such a long time eating in and take awaysTonight I thought I would order even after a bad meal the previous time as I thought eveyone can have a bad day but NO it was just as bad so no more MINTOO for me I'm afraid.I know portions size has altered over the years but naans getting smaller is a definite no no :) To add insult to injury it was cold

Where do I start? Had to heat food up,chicken dry,so was lamb.tikka sag aloo omg tasted more like preperpared that had been frozen and put in microwave. If you love good Indian food then definitely do not go here you may as well go to farmfoods.

Unless you like coconut I wouldn't bother. Ordered a takeaway and thought I would try something from their specials...and it was far from being special! Ordered the Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken) and all it tasted of was coconut. I'm no culinary expert but I've eaten a fair few Butter Chicken dishes in my time and none of them have ever tasted of coconut! Called the restaurant but was told that that's how it is. Smells like BS to me...in fact that probably would have smelt and tasted better. I suspect that it was just a Korma sauce and they added a bit of tomato and a bit of butter...and the end result just ended up in the bin! Having googled both Butter Chicken and Chicken Makhani, there is no mention anywhere of this dish containing coconut. Unfortunately it wasn't just this dish that was disappointing and damn right disgusting, I also ordered the Matter Paneer, and strangely this also tasted of nothing but coconut and looked exactly like a Korma sauce and on top of that I had just two chunks of Paneer, so this should have just been called a Pea Korma. Also ordered a Chicken Madras and asked for no coriander but when it arrived it had coriander in. To be fobbed off so easily when I called them to complain is just disrespectful and rude. Definitely will never be ordering from them again.

This is the first time we have been here and I was really surprised. All the curries had their own individual taste. And very generous portion sizes. This will be our new Indian from now on.

We visited the Mintoo on the recommendation of friends. We have used several Indian Restaurants in the area and our experience at the Mintoo was about equal to what we experienced at the others.

First time here - friendly staff, lovely food and reasonably priced. Great to have a good local place to go to.

We started using this place for about two weeks now after being put of by our local Indian and have to say we really enjoy the food here. I do find it very oily but we tend to scoop it out, the naan breads are always nice and fluffy. Ali is alway very friendy and knows the menu very well and helps us. The food has been late once but im sure they were very busy. Good Luck guy.

Can’t recommend this place enough! We always come here. It’s our go to Indian! Nothing compares to it, in our opinion. Eat in or take away. The food is still amazing.

I visit here regularly and find it is better to have the sit down option for nice ambience. The food is freshly cooked and not sticky or greasy. A really great place for a meal.

Arrived this evening about 9.45 pm after getting back from golf for a Sunday Special (4 courses £9.95), I was informed that the Sunday Special was not available as it was (Mothers Day).

Fuimos a Mintoo's para cenar una noche de sábado, nos dieron la bienvenida como entramos ya que tenían niños pequeños el personal se acomodó, hay un montón de platos en el menú, así que elegir es un problema en cuanto a lo que tienen.

No, no, no lo recomendaría. He recogido mi comida. La cebolla bargi eran negro debajo, mi curry estaba nadando en agua y el masala aloo olía tan mal mi nieto me preguntaron por qué la cocina olía a enfermos.

Pedimos una comida para 3 se entregan en una víspera de sábado. Tuvimos que esperar una hora y media y cuando la comida llegó la orden no fue completa. Llamé para preguntar y me dijeron que el artículo que falta habían pedido. Yo sabía que había pedido como he oído decir a mi marido. Me dijeron que me habían cobrado por el plato que faltaba, así que nos fuimos sin ella. La comida no estaba a su nivel habitual. El arroz estaba pegajosa con la mantequilla no falvour pollo había pollo y mi curry estaban aguados. Creo que puede ser intentar encontrar algún sitio nuevo para pedir.

Years ago i always visited this restaurant as it was so good ! and i also used to have takeout from here but it began to slide in quality of food etc and got so rubbish that i stopped eating there altogether however years have passed so i thought i would give it a go again as the indian i usually order from has also very much slipped in standards. well what a disgusting dry load of cold food arrived after quite a wait. The onion bhajis was so burnt ! couldnt eat them they looked like a bundle of fried elastic bands the chicken tikka was the most driest i have ever seen and the side orders were tiny and again dry as a desert and cold. my daughters main was a £6.50 selection and it was truly a disgrace the king prawn was just a wet unidentifiable mess and she also had the disgusting dry chicken tikka and there was a tiny sheesh kebab which actually looked like someones chopped off and burnt to a crisp finger. after ringing to complain the manager type person said dont eat any of it (to which i said u must be joking i wouldnt touch it with a barge pole) i will send my manager out to inspect it and give you your £25 refund so we waited but no one turned up so we rang again and was told yes he will be there and we waited.....so we rang again to be told that the person we spoke to had got it all wrong and what was his name as no one was coming out at all and that no refund would be given as it had been ordered through "just eat" which makes no difference whatsoever as its still cooked by the mintoo kitchen staff ! at this point yes i went mental ! it was now late at night i was starving and had waited up for someone who wasnt coming and was told no refund. i actaully said that i would go round to their restaurant next day and put their windows in however after this someone was swiftly sent round to collect the disgusting food and hey i got a full refund. I wouldt even go there if i was starving avoid at all costs

Visited for the first time last Sunday to celebrate a friend's birthday. We all ordered the Sunday menu which consisted of a starter, main, rice, naam bread and a side. As there was six of us, we chose to order in two's which enabled us to try each other's food as well as our own choices. Everyone was very happy with their choices and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone for a visit in the future.

Absolutely beautiful food! Took us a while to find sucha good Indian! But look no further perfect flavours! I like hot food but not too hot and they alter their dishes to however you ask! Making me hungry just writing this!

Had previously been to an upmarket Indian in the local area which was good but this surpassed that.....the food was so fresh and tasty, the waiter was also very accommodating advising on which dishes to have....nothing was too much....have had a take away from there since, this was also of a high standard....will definitely go back .

Always use Mintoos when we order Indian, always have and always will, hands down the best Basildon has to offer and has been this way for many years 👍 keep up the good work guys

My wife had the tandoori mixed grill, all a bit bland plus the sheek kabab was very undercooked, so much so we didn't eat it. The same can be said for the keema naan meat. I had the chef's special lamb razalla, normally this is medium to hot in most places. My ordered dish had no heat , and I mean none. The flavour again was bland. All this said, the meat Samoa was very hot! And also very nice.
