Dreadful plate of asparagus 'risotto'. A small expensive bowl (£18.75) of overcooked rice with 2 stems of asparagus, sprinkled with cheap feta which wasn't even Greek feta but a cheap imitation. Thank goodness for beautiful weather making it very pleasant to sit outside and the staff were friendly. Wouldn't dream of recommending the food to anyone else - I felt hugely cheated...

Had a lovely lunch here, the food was very good and the service very efficient, our waiter Darrien was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere of the pub is great and the garden area was lovely in the sun, definitely recommend and will be back!

Popped in for a drink and wanted to stay all evening! The staff were friendly, great atmosphere in the garden, plenty free parking at the back (always a bonus) and dog friendly too. We didn't eat but the food that we saw being served looked delicious. Will definitely be back soon.

We had the worst food yesterday evening at The Minnow. I ordered a crisply duck and pineapple salad. There were 4 small pieces of dried up duck and no pineapple. I let the waiter know there wasn't any pineapple who then went to speak to the chef and came back to inform me, "it doesn't come with pineapple, just a pineapple dressing". I really can't believe you would advertise a duck and pineapple salad that actually doesn't come with any pineapple. My husband ordered the half roast chicken and skin on fries. The chicken was very small and the skin wasn't crisply (very rubbery). The whole meal came out within 10 minutes and so obviously wasn't freshly cooked. Very disappointing experience and poor food.

Great time at the minnow, I spoke to a chef called James a bubbly guy indeed, he recommended the pizzas which we all loved, he even insisted of singing happy birthday to my nephew. Thank you so so much

We stopped for a quick drink. Nice environment, friendly staff. Food going to other tables looked very appealing. 👂 I appreciated the absence of music (or it was low enough that I couldn't hear it) as that meant I could follow the conversation more easily.

Fabulous pub! Went there for a team lunch. Free parking for clients. If you catch a sunny day, their garden is great! Food is very good at decent prices. Well designed & clean all around. Staff are friendly and food arrives quite fast. Strongly recommended if you're in the area.

Had a great time at The Minnow! The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the service was excellent. We grabbed a spot in the sunny beer garden—such a lovely place to sit and soak up the Spring sun! I was there with my 1-year-old daughter, who was napping, and the staff were really accommodating, which made the experience even better. Will definitely be back!

Great location, and the venue has a nice crowd however that’s where it ends for me. The service was very slow, menus are on a barcode. Sorry, but on a day off from work the last thing I want to do is scan my phone and be on my phone to look at the menu. The food was a joke, the cheese platter & biscuits we ordered was half a. The 3 cheese selection looked like it was picked up from a local Tesco, the grapes weren’t even washed & they were full of dust. The little cabbage on the side was dry & “carefully selected” which means picked out of a ready mixed bag 🤣 Would expect this from a uni student, not a venue. Shame, perhaps this is more of a pint place where hopefully, they can’t mess that up.

Lovely staff and it was really good of the publican to squeeze us in on a busy day, thank you! All the staff were very friendly and clearly working really hard on a packed Sunday, it's not easy. We received our starters promptly and they were delicious. There was a bit of a wait then for the mains which we had to chase up but when they arrived they were great and we received complimentary half pints as an apology which was a nice touch. The crackling tasted burned on my roast which was a shame but I loved everything else it was delicious and my husband's fish was cooked beautifully. All in all a good visit for a tasty lunch and we left smiling and full. Thanks to the staff for making us so welcome and we'll be back I'm sure. I highly recommend.

Didn’t feel very welcome when we sat down and were told we weren’t allowed to sit there! Apparently it was reserved ( there was no reserved sign, there were signs on other reserved tables!) we were moved to an uncomfortable bar stool arrangement as the manager said we snuck in!! We had a pint of guiness, a medium glass of red wine and 2 coffees. £24.95!!! No one arrived at the ‘reserved’ table for the hour we were there! Won’t be rushing back!

Went here mid week and it was still really busy in the evening. Nice atmosphere with dogs and people alike. The restaurant area was fully booked but ordering at the bar wasn't hard.

First time we've visited and won't be the last. This was the best food we've had when eating out in a long time. Lovely interior, and the staff were great Great location for a walk along the river after eating the delicious meal.

We had the Octupus special which was very tasty. John did a great job looking after us. Lovely fires and plenty of parking. I suppose Mike was ok too

Had a lovely time being served by Jake, a very kind and helpful member of staff. He really knew how to make our experience more pleasurable and suited all our needs. Only gave it 4 stars after visiting The Minnow countless times due to the food being underseasoned for my taste but overall would recommend.

We came across this on a dog walk, and decided to try it out. We had the best time from service, to atmosphere but most importantly to the stunning food we received, it was just fabulous. Our new favourite place to eat!

What a wonderful pub! My friends and I enjoyed a leisurely lunch here yesterday and had a great time. We received a warm welcome from all of the staff and our waiter Darien was courteous, efficient, polite and friendly (thank you Darien!) Food was good and the drinks were flowing (the bar staff pour a particularly good Aperol Spritz). We will be returning and highly recommend if you’re in the area.

Went to have a celebration dinner with the family, ordered with good expectations as we have been before. Was shocked by quality. Food: - Underwhelming - Bland (steaks are good but small, eg filet) - Vegetable sides are unappealing - Took a decent chunk of time to be prepared - Do NOT order Surf and Turf unless you are wishing to throw away money, only 2 small prawns which were burned and small steak. - Fish and chips is underwhelming and bland with little fish and 80% batter, peas were very watery. Service: - In general, it was alright. Atmosphere: - Music was very loud in my opinion. - Placed next to the windows which had a draft - Stuck in the back. Price: - Not worth what we paid for at all for 3 people.

Tried this on recommendation from a friend and was so glad I did! Food was lovely and the service exceptional. The waitress Megghy went out of her way to make sure we had a lovely time.

I don't like giving bad reviews as you can see from my account. The service here is pretty poor as I walked in before the rest of our group arrived and just wanted to grab a beer from the bar before being seated at our booked table. This was really frowned upon by the waitress and I was made to feel really uncomfortable for it. Please don't have a bar in your establishment if you don't like serving guests at the bar. Just remove the bar and make it clear that this is now a restaurant only and not a pub. The food was very good but the service is poor and atmosphere is uncomfortable. Won't be returning.

My wife and I treated our son to an evening meal at the wonderful Minnow last night and could not have wished for a tastier experience. We are regular visitors and last night took the opportunity to use the half price on main dishes offer which has now run out. Wife and son had Chateau Briande steaks cooked to perfection with 2 tasty sauces. I had the pork with scrumptious crackling and delicious dauphonoise potatoes and vegetables. All totally full up with the best cooked and served dishes. Fabulous service too from our delightful waitress Danielle and highly impressed with the way the manager and chef came to check all was to our requirements. Loved the embience and will definitely keep this on our list of favourite local restaurants.

Lovely warm welcome from the manager, who accommodated our party of 3 without a booking and chatted with us throughout our visit. The food and service were great, and we enjoyed post-lunch drinks by the fire in the bar afterwards. Will definitely be back.

Good atmosphere with an interesting and varied menu,, would have been good to have had some specials on as usually do but plenty to chose from and great quality food and generous portions. Attentive service without feeling rushed

The welcome and attention from the staff was pretty much perfect. The manager in particular is a perfect host, both with us, and several other lunch parties we saw him visiting. The Minnow is a lovely venue, cosy and quirky, and it is nice that the restaurant is carpeted to help keep the noise levels to a minimum. The place was cold, though, with no fires lit, and no central heating, despite the temperature outside being in single figures. The place desperately needed some heat in it, and both my sister in law and mother in law spent the latter part of the lunch with their coats and wooly hats on. Time to light the fires!

It was a busy Saturday evening when we visited, so a bit noisy. Food excellent, though I would have liked to have had more greens with my Seabass (will order a side dish next time). We had a main each, glass of wine each, and then the small pudding with a drink - the mini chocolate brownie was amazing!!

I booked a table for an early dinner with my mum and sons. Our server Adrian was fantastic. Attentive, great with my children and really knowledgeable about the food. We both had steaks, which were cooked perfectly and even convinced us to share a cheeky sticky toffee & rum pudding. Such a fantastic experience. Thanks Adrian 💕

Had a very disappointing Christmas lunch, the food was barely warm, roast potatoes chewy, had definitely been reheated, beef wellington was really tough, one carrot and one parsnip each,no table decorations or any sign that it was Christmas day. Was definitely not worth the money.

Had a really good meal here, really enjoyed the festive menu especially the turkey, Tristan really looked after us.
