Hands down one of the worst Chinese take away’s I have ever eaten

Firstly I'll start off by saying we we're visiting the area and staying local on a family holiday. In our opinion the food wasn't overly expensive, it's actually cheaper than our own at home (East Coast UK). We ordered 5 Happy boxes for the kids at £5 each (£6 will explain) 2x chicken balls/chips curry 2x crispy chicken/chips BBQ 1 x sausage/chips sweet n sour And ribs in peking sauce. When ordering the happy boxes you have the option to upgrade to large for £1 extra each which we did. Food ordered and was ready on collection time no issues nothing missing, the correct price as stated on the website. The ribs we're lovely, and all happy boxes were very good value probably enough for most teens and possibly less hungry adults. However I must stress the following, Our chinese at home would put sauces separately in tubs... The Happy boxes come fully mixed with sauces. Was a slight issue for a picky child but didn't realise so not really the restaurants fault. The curry sauce was very hot spicy which is to our liking but won't be for everyone.

Disappointed isn’t the word, food is standard nothing special, didn’t receive half of my order and the food we did receive the portion sizes were tiny. Wouldn’t recommend

Visiting the area from NE Scotland and no one could be bothered cooking. Read so many reviews for the Chinese takeaways in Penrith and decided to go here. Food was good, piping hot. Called at 4.30 and was ready at 4.50 as promised.

Ordered a Chicken satay, discovered there was no sauce, went back as I thought they had forgot to put it in the bag, nope! I was told that no sauce is included with the meal and I was charged an additional £2.80 for my trouble!!! Wow, that’s a new level of tightnesses!!! The rice came in a small tray and it was a miserable portion too. Avoid!!!

I'm only leaving 1 star as I can't leave none. 32 pound on food that I wouldn't even feed to my dog. Complete waste of money and now need to go and spend more money to feed the kids. Vile

On holiday down from Glasgow and chose here for our last nights dinner to save on cooking. Staff so friendly and the food tasted amazing, loved the mixed starter and there may have been a fight over the crispy seaweed! Mains were delicious, particularly the chicken satay and the salt and pepper chicken balls. Great quantities and quality!

Probably the best Chinese I've ever had. Tad expensive but it is in the lakes. The location is very clean and staff very presentable. If you want a Chinese takeaway in Penrith go to this place. It is cash only but there is an ATM across the road at the spar and there is parking on the street.

Best Chinese takeaway I’ve had in years. No idea why this place only has one [negative] review in here as we’ve been a few times over the last month and it’s spot on. The meat is quality and everything very tasty.

We went here because of a 4.3 rating on google made it distantly the best in the area. The menu online was miles out in price however I have attached the latest 2023 prices. Food was good and defo worthy of the rating. Price is more than London prices which was a shock. But overall food was hot, good and quick which is everything you ask

Great food and service. Food is always fresh and hot. You can pay by card for your delivery which is a bonus.

Ordered beancurd sweet and sour and it had hardly any tofu just loads of bamboo shoots and beansprouts, which isn't typical of any sweet and sour I've had before. The sauce was like water too, no taste.

We were on our way back from North of Scotland back to West Yorkshire. While passing Lakes, we decided to find some local Chinese restaurant and we were VERY surprised! This place is really nice, food is very tasty and best quality. Reasonable prices as well. Very recommended! :)

Nice Chinese takeaway, easy to park to collect.

£40 for sweet and sour chicken, vegetable chow mein and prawn toast. Menu on Facebook said this would be around £20! Staff not apologetic and just said prices have changed. Will be going elsewhere for Chinese in the future.

Staying in ullswater had a 40 min round trip to get takeout the bbq ribs were the worst i have ever had . Looked boiled in some sort of liquid .went straight in the bin Wasn't going to drive all way back when realised ... rest of food ok

This has to be the best chinese we've had in a long time. Service, portion size, quality and speed it was delivered was first class. Would highly recommend this restaurant. If we return to the area again we will definitely be back. Thank you.

We came to ullswater fora few nights fancied a Chinese but didn't want to go our so we ordered from here they delivered to our site an WOW the food was spot on everything we ordered was fabulous an tasted amazing I would highly recommend best take away Chinese we ever had 😋👌

Shame. Gone downhill recently. Had the chicken chow mein & s&s pork. Was sloppy. Chow mein isn’t sloppy, and pork balls weren’t pork “balls” with a separate sauce, but more like kung psi, without the spice

Top rated Chinese takeaway in Penrith. Obvious choice after a day climbing Scafell Pike 🤠 Nice bright clean interior. Staff was friendly (and patient!!) Chicken chow mein was spot on, and plenty of veg through it too. Mixed veg szechuan for me. Perfectly on the spicy side. Roughly £15 for the two of us. Seems to be a busy enough spot and it's only Monday night.

Fast and friendly had a big order to collect staff were polite and covid safe, food tasted great and portions were large but did have a couple things missing from the order.

Food was really good and tasty. Ordered duck pancakes which was best I’ve had. The curry and Yung chow fried rice was amazing and everything tasted fresh and no msg. I’ll definitely be ordering from here again. Also big portions and reasonably priced!

Worst salt & pepper chips I've ever had. Weird sweet red seasoning on the chips with a few pathetic bits of onion and not at all spicy.

Best Chinese food around here and certainly one of the best takeaways in penrith

Richard is a top guy, serving top banana food, best Chinese TA in Penrith. Only live just around the corner too, so dead handy.

Crispy beef was okay, on the chewy side but I prefer it that way. Beef curry was slightly watery, with not a lot of meat, but quite tasty. Chips were obviously not fresh cut chips, but good. Will definitely use again.

Seriously tasty food at a good price, and always super quick, even when they're busy. I've been ordering from here for a while now and never had a bad experience.

Beancurd in schezuan or blackbean sauce is amazing. The gentleman at the counter is friendly and always smiling.

Really happy we chose this takeaway can't find fault with any of the food we had Singapore fried rice, chicken cashew nuts hot and spicy, hot and sour soup and mixed starter, all food lovely.

Stayed in Penrith for 2 days whilst visiting the lakes and called at mings after reading the reviews got a special curry and must say it was one of the best I've had would highly recommend

Recently visited Penrith for a weekend break and got take away's each night. Had a good look around prior to deciding on Ming's, but must say really impressed with the selection of food and also the quality. Picked my meal up rather than delivery and well impressed with the cleanliness of the shop front! There wasn't any prawn cracker with our meal's but when I asked for them, this wasn't a problem and given to me free of charge. Would definitely recommend Ming's to anyone visiting or living in the area. Tasty food, good price and not much of a wait after being order...... Well done Ming's!!!!

Very good service and food, the portion size is larger than others that we have had. But some give free prawn crackers which is not done here. The food was hot and well packaged. Will use ming's kitchen again without hesitation.
