Mimi’s Ice Cream Emporium in Newcastle upon Tyne

Took my daughter along for a treat over the Easter break. Fab ice cream - I had the Turkish Delight, my daughter the Oreo Cookie - both very very special!

Went here today as we thought we would try the ice cream flavours and we felt very let down by the flavours of the ice creams we had,as there was just a slight hint of flavourings in the 3 ice creams I’d probably prefer to drive into Whitley Bay and get an ice cream from the two ice cream shops near Spanish City.

I've been here a lot with friends, family and by myself and it'd always brilliant. They have fast service, all of the staff are incredible, and the ice cream is quite possibly the best I've had this side of the UK. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone even if you just go in for a coffee.

Where to start disgraceful beginning to end, apart from the young gentleman who served the ice cream. Due to social distancing, we waited outside as there was x amount of people in the shop. While waiting outside, this angry furious person dress in entire pink tracksuit stormed straight towards us ( I was expecting a left hook from the anger in her eyes) they were carrying a McDonald’s bag. When the person in the tracksuit reached us (wearing no face covering) they barged past us and opened the door with what can only be described as with as much power as Hulk. We observed the pink track-suited person storm into the back kitchen, then continue to storm into the seating area to eat their food. When it was covid-safe we entered the shop, the young gentleman was serving a customer with a young child. A lady was looking busy cleaning behind the till area, she flung her mop in a bucket and shouted out “this floor needs cleaning now” to what I assume was the young gentleman serving customer. The women who stopped cleaning then shouted at me and my mam asking us “do we know what want” we asked to have a look 1st she then ordered us to stand at the counter to the right ( roughly 2m from the other customer ordering) . As we did not know what we wanted she walked away to join the pink tracksuited person gorging a McDonald’s in the customer seating area.When we were served by the young gentleman, he was polite and explained all flavours as there was no labels on any ice cream and also give details of vegan options. He was quick and efficient, he explained the customer loyalty scheme to us as well. He served us with a great attitude, and friendly manner. Ice cream flavour was great, shame about the experience. Following on from this visit I have a few questions? Does the person in the pink tracksuit have no manner, she is a representative of the brand and should have at least asked “excuse me” to enter the building. Why did the woman not clean the floor while the young gentleman was serving, rather than shouting at him ? This looked bad as he was serving customers and she was not. In previous visit there was a one system in place , has this been discontinued, even with covid restrictions not lifted yet? Can staff eat at the customer tables, even during covid, this looked bad as there was no social distancing between the 2 eating the McDonald’s? Why do none of the ice cream flavours have labels on , so they are easily identifiable to customers?We also found a hair in one the ice-creams, as showing in the images.

Amazing 5 star everytime the ice cream and milkshakes are unbelievable and the staff are so friendly and welcoming

Really enjoyed picking out our ice cream flavours. Millie was very knowledgeable and helpful. The banana ice cream is the best by far!!

This is our favourite family place. Friendly welcoming staff and amazing coffee and ice cream. I feel a daily trip next week as its half term. Highly recommend a visit.

Cuando comenté esto, me enteré de que el propietario no había comprado nada desde el principio para proteger al personal. Están totalmente expuestos al igual que los clientes. No comí nada de este lugar y no volveré.

Solo quería agradecerles por su increíble servicio al cliente y sus deliciosos helados esta tarde. ¡Mi hija tiene alergias severas a los lácteos y su cara era una imagen con un helado y un cono real y poder elegir entre una gran variedad de sabores! ¡Definitivamente vamos a estar de vuelta!

He visitado Mimis durante un tiempo y cada vez he comentado lo amable que es el personal y lo deliciosos que son sus helados. He probado muchos sabores diferentes y todavía no he encontrado uno que no me guste en absoluto. Empezamos a conseguir los batidos que también son deliciosos. We came along yesterday and my son who's dairy free loved your vegan bubblegum ice cream 🍦 And my twin grandson's loved your kinda Buenos ice cream 🍦 🍦 Everything was perfect the staff were friendly and very polite.

Visité a Mimi con mi hija por primera vez hoy. Personal amable y conocedor, que nos dio muestras para probar de los sabores que preguntamos. Los helados son caseros. Ambos tomamos 2 bolas de helado de diferentes sabores en cornetas y nos sentamos afuera al sol para disfrutarlas. Todos estaban absolutamente deliciosos. Estuvimos de acuerdo en que el helado de Mimi's es el mejor que hemos probado.

Debido a que este es un negocio familiar, ellos saben exactamente lo que contiene el producto y brindan información adecuada sobre alergias a quienes preguntan.También ofrecen gofres, brownies y muffins. No tenga procedimientos de contacto en su lugar y una estación de desinfección de manos.Definitivamente pruébalo si necesitas algo que hacer con los niños o si te apetece pasar una tarde tranquila con tus pensamientos. Llamé hoy para comprar un helado para llevar para mi hija y sus amigos. Era una hermosa tarde soleada y, como era de esperar, había bastantes personas haciendo cola afuera. Los dos jóvenes que me atendieron fueron amables y corteses y se ofrecieron amablemente a escribir en cada tarrina qué sabor era para que no los confundiera. Como siempre, mi hija (y sus amigas) disfrutaron muchísimo de su helado de Mimi. ¡Definitivamente volveremos pronto!

Me encanta venir a Mimi, el personal siempre es encantador y amable y te hace sentir muy bienvenido.Soy intolerante al gluten y pedí un delicioso helado de merengue de limón con un cono sin gluten. Fue un placer. Mis hijos también tenían helado de caramelo salado, que fue demolido muy rápidamente.Mimi tiene un ambiente encantador y es un pequeño y animado centro de color, sin duda lo recomendaría para un regalo familiar.

Vaya, qué tugurio. Pedí un helado de chocolate. Todo lo que obtuve fue helado de chocolate en un bol. Pedí nueces picadas ~ no tenían. Pedí crema batida ~ no tenían. Pagué 6. 99 por un tazón de helado de chocolate. Despierten amigos, esto NO es un helado de chocolate. Vete, haz tu tarea, visita otros "emporios de helados" APROPIADOS y vuelve a intentarlo porque no durarás mucho sirviendo esta costosa escoria.

We came off the A1 and came across Mimis. Great Ice Cream such friendly Ladies and now every time we can we will well stop at Mimi.We were able to use their loo too!!

I regularly visit this lovely little icecream shop with my sons where staff are always friendly and helpful and a fantastic choice of flavours of the creamiest ice cream

Came here on a Saturday morning as usual. They make the best breakfast bagels and ice cream is to die for! Always has a great selection.

We were going to Costa’s drive thru but thought we’d give this independent coffee/ice cream parlour our business. The young lady left alone in the shop was a newbie. Although she was very eager 3 sets of customers landing all at the same time was daunting - and would have been for an experienced server. We asked for a brownie. Unfortunately this had to thawed out using a microwave! Other customers asked for food that was available. The coffee was reduced in price but tasteless. We overheard other customers talking about the poor quality of the coffee. It’s a pity because we like to support small enterprise but we will not go back. We will drive past and use Costa Coffees drive thru.

Visited today for some ice cream for the kids and was tempted by the chicken bagel.... probably one of the tastiest bagels I’ve ever had! Can’t wait to have another :)

Me and my partner are visiting Newcastle this week and are staying at hotel over the road so thought we'd pop into Mimis this evening and give it a try. Got there to find it was closed but much to our delight Chris opened up and served us ice creams each anyway. I had a selection of yummy fruity flavours while my other half went for sweet type flavours. Chris who served us was fantastic, he recommended us which flavours to have and it was spot on. Very friendly brilliant service. Recommend!

Called to try this out the girl serving could not have been nicer she even re made my latte as it was not hot enough for me. We both ordered waffles and ice cream but although the mango ice cream and the raspberry cheesecake ice cream were alright the honeycomb one was very disappointing did not have any bits of honeycomb in it and was tasteless. Think it is overpriced for what it is you can get a lot better ice cream elsewhere.

Me and my partner have visited here several times as we live close by. There is always a different selection of ice creams on, and I cannot praise them more on the standard of their flavours. They also offer choice of toppings and sauces, as well as other options e.g. milkshake, waffles etc. Staff are always lovely to speak to and we always look forward to going back and trying out their different flavours.

Girl with dark hair is very rude!!! But young lad is nice. Ice cream was alright but way too pricey. Won’t be returning cos rude staff.

Two of us made a return visit and once more enjoyed our choices. Which today were Waffles one which was served with Fig and Ricotta and Cherry ice creams, the other Fig and Ricotta and Snickers Chocolate. Both were topped with cream, chocolate sprinkles and chocolate sauce. They were delicious and very filling. We had these with a Latte and a Cappuccino. Service was quick from nice staff. It was busty and popular again. We will certainly return.

I love this place! We’re on the loyalty scheme, so every so often we get a text for 20% off, or a free coffee etc etc it’s small things that bring us back agin! The ice cream is fantastic too so that’s always an extra bonus

Visited today as a treat to make the most of the last sunny days. Wasn’t disappointed. Great range of flavours to chose from and hard to decide what to have. Opted for the Cappuccino which was delicious. Most flavours seemed vegan and gluten free. Will definitely visit again.

Looking forward to this for weeks been to the Spanish city waffle bar 1 nice choco bar in the lakes amazing so this was a treat however the waffles were inedible! The ice was awesome top quality amazing selection service was fantastic so who such poor waffles worsted I’ve ever had

A huge variety of flavours. Especially recommend the Kinder Bueno ice cream. Dad loves the jammie dodger ice cream. Best ice cream in the area.

Birthday treat with 4 children. One of the orders was wrong and when pointed out, was made to feel uncomfortable due to the comment that was made by the staff member. Not very nice aimed at an 11 year old. Eventually order was replaced but to be honest, couldn’t get out quick enough. It wasn’t cheap but would have been happy if the customer service had been professional. Due to disappointing experience, unable to recommend.

Saw this place advertised as we were down here visiting. Its behind the garage where the co op is and subway. Icecream is good but wouldn't rave about it. Its quite pricey as well. Two scoops on a cone was over £4.00 .we got not bad size portions think its your luck who serves you. We got a young guy. Also got to try a few out. Wouldn't rush back

A pleasant place, heard some good reports about it so gave it a go,maybe it was an off night/day,but on arrival,there was no order or any clean tables,ice cream very nice,but service and staff on this occasion was under parr,we will return and hopefully we can get a nicer more professional greeting and not the solom one we got overall a really good place....just needs tweeking or rather the staff that night do,good luck for the future.

The title of the review says it all. It really was the best ice cream I’ve had. The staff were warm and welcoming, and there was a tone of flavours to chose from. If you get the chance to go, I’d 100% recommend you do.

Absolutely love the ice cream from here. All members of staff are excellent and extremely willing to help recommend flavours. Cookies and cream is definitely a favourite.

Had such a long hot day at work decided to use a voucher I had and it was a good deal lovely little place seems very popular was served very quickly and the young lady and gent who were serving in the shop were very pleasant and helpful two waffles with ice cream and two cold drinks £5 wot a bargain it was truly delicious would definitely return I have to praise the two young people serving they were so very patient with all the children who they served and took their time deciding what flavours they wanted and there were a lot got both deserve credit

Two of us called in here to enjoy a couple of coffees, a latte and a flat white, we also ordered a double waffle with Ricotta and Fig ice cream and Salted Caramel served on two waffles with cream and caramel sauce. The ice creams were delicious and very filling. We intend to come back again during the summer. We thought it was very good indeed and we are happy to recommend this cafe to anyone in the area of Gosforth Park.

Visited for the 3rd time in around a month and I've actually arranged to go again in 4 days. I think that says it all really. Would like some fruit with ice cream but that's minor and doesn't detract from the experience.

Found this little gem, tucked away behind the co-op. Ice Cream was delicious (recommend the raspberry cheesecake). Very friendly service, dog friendly. Even got a free scoop for our pup! Will be back soon.

We took our daughter here as it had been recommended by a friend, and we were not disappointed. The ice cream was fantastic and a close second behind a gelato place I reviewed a few year ago in Falaraki, so I suppose it’s the best ice cream for thousands of mile haha. Highly recommend the place, wide variety of flavours but I have to say the bounty one I went for was beautiful. It was very busy when we went and my only criticism is that they didn’t seem to be able to keep on top of cleaning tables at the time.

Compares to Florence gelato. We had vanilla and jammie dodger..... absolutely gorgeous!! Could have had seconds. Like angels crawling on my tongue!

This is becoming a regular stop for us. The flavours are delicious and there is always something new to try. The owner and staff are always welcoming, pleasant and have time for a chat. This place is a must try.

We’ve been to Mimis quite a few times now and have never been disappointed. The flavours are amazing and always changing. We would recommend the milkshakes - I think my partner is well known in there for the amount of times he’s in getting milkshakes. The service is brilliant too - the staff are always offering you to try different ones, checking on you if you sit in. They will come over and give you the WiFi code etc and are so friendly. They also have a loyalty scheme where you can earn points towards free ice cream or drinks. Would highly recommend.

We have visited Mimi's twice now and have been very impressed on both visits. staff have always been very friendly and pleasant and we have been very undecided with what we should order as theres so much choice! They also offer a free sample before you decide on a flavour which is great for our kids!so far between us all, we have only sampled the ice creams which include Jamie Dodger, bounty, salted caramel, mint choc chip, bubblegum, cookies and cream and my daughter sampled the surprise flavour which was actually sweet potato! and she loved it! Mimi's has a lovely atmosphere and ample parking and I would highly recommend visiting!

We've visited Mimi's on a couple of occasions now and have always had a fantastic experience. The staff are always friendly and helpful, even making recommendations to us on what to try. The Jammie Dodger ice cream is lush. Everyone should try Mimi's secret recipe - it's absolutely delicious. It's so lovely to have this family run business locally to us and we recommend it to everyone!!

Mimi’s Ice Cream Emporium is absolutely wonderful. We have sampled an array of ice cream so far including the delicious Jammie dodger, blueberry, Turkish delight, watermelon sorbet, mango vegan ice cream, chocolate ice cream, vanilla, and Oreo between us as a family. They are all absolutely gorgeous and have an Italian homemade taste to them and a richness with the ice cream which is unrivalled anywhere else locally. We have also tried the clotted cream tasting special ice cream (which tastes like something from Venchi its unreal!!).

The ice cream flavours are plentiful; so much variety and the quality of the ice cream is really great! I love the Mint Choc chip and vanilla there; absolutely amazing! Staff are so polite and the Emporium is really clean and tidy all in all it is a really great experience for the whole family also should mention the ice cream is really cheaply priced despite being really good quality and portion sizes are generous!

The first time I visited I think I was served by the owner and I had a double cone which was lovely ( one of the flavours was lemon meringue ). That was in February.

We have been to Mimis on several occasions now my girls love it ! The choice is plentiful and you can always ‘try before you buy’ the ice creams are huge and my personal favourite is Turkish delight ! Would recommend this friendly , helpful and clean parlour to anyone ! Keep up the good work you lovely lot ! Bonus is the vip scheme as you get discounts / offers all via your mobile phone number ! I love a loyalty scheme!

Been here on numerous occasions now

Out of the four flavours we had between us only one I’d order again. The Cinder Toffee was good, but the jammy dodger, Jaffa cake and Bakewell tart weren’t up to much.

Mimi's is a gem of a place. Amazing ice cream in fabulous flavours. A pleasantly decorated ice cream parlour and very friendly, knowledgeable staff make every visit a pleasure. We have visited many times and shall continue to support this lovely business.

I've called in a few times now and I have to say I'm going to be keep going until I've worked my way through all of the flavours and then I'll probably start all over again. The staff have always been pleasant and don't rush you (children can take a while to decide on flavours as there are so many available to choose from!). The flavours are great (I personally love the snickers and jaffa cake) and you can choose from ice creams (vegan option available) and sorbets in cones or tubs or proper sundaes. You can also get tea/coffee and cakes and theres a good reward scheme available to. Seating can be limited during busy periods as can parking.

The staff are really friendly, the ice cream is lovely with a good selection of flavours and sizes. It's a traditional ice cream parlour but modernised.

I have today finally made it to Mimi's Ice Cream Emporium in Gosforth. For those unsure, it is directly behind the Co-Op petrol station/shop which is opposite the Gosforth Park Hotel.

1st visit to ice cream parlour, found staff extremely helpful and patient when child deciding on flavoured ice cream. 😊 will definitely be back again

Lovely decor and atmosphere. Great music. Wide range of ice cream flavours which you can test if it's your first visit. Amazing coffee and friendly staff. Have the feeling this is going to become a regular haunt.
