What an amazing place, over the last year I've tried all the cafes in tavistock and this is by far the best. Home cooked food at its best, the quiches and cakes are to die for. They use local ingredients to support other local businesses which is really important to me. If you're taking the kids then the grazing platters are brilliant. The coffee is fantastic, and you get a proper sized cup. The little things really add up here and it's cracking value for the taste and quality of the food.

Keep community back to this cafe. Great varied menu, home cooked, healthy options, vegan and veggie all available as well. A hidden gem.

This cafe is exceptional. I really couldn't fault a single thing about it. Our food was absolutely delicious. I had the Wellness bowl which is one of the tastiest combinations of Salad, falafels, houmous, roasted sweet potato and avocado with an extra of grilled halloumi, that I have had. It was £16 but worth every penny. I can't quite describe how lovely it was. My husband had one of the sausage rolls with salad and he said it was equally delicious. We decided to stay for a coffee after we had finished and again it was perfect. Sitting in the sun outside was of course lovely but the food made it for us. We look forward to returning on our next trip to Tavistock.

I’m not usually a trip advisor reviewer but I HAD to write a few words about my fab experience at this lovely café. I popped in to spend a few hours working on my laptop & was so touched by all the little details here… Free WiFi, free access to plug sockets for working. Free period products in the bathroom for those who need them, an extra changing mat on top of the fold down changing table (I’m a new mum & although I didn’t have my little one with me this time, this is such a nice touch!) as well as a children’s toilet seat adapter & step up stool for washing hands. There was also a sign about their breastfeeding-friendly policy (pic attached) which was lovely to see! The food and coffee was fantastic too but I was really blown away by all the little extras & attention to detail that made it feel so welcoming. I just wanted to leave a comment as it’s so lovely to visit such a female-friendly/parent-friendly cafe and feel like all your needs are catered for. I will definitely be returning with my newborn baby! Well done team!

Nice spot, food lovely but £16 for a takeaway salad with two thin slices of haloumi was excessive. I eat out at city restaurants each month with business and it is cheaper to eat there than have a salad from a box in my car from Mime. It’s a shame as it as tasty but not £16 out of a box tasty.

Found Mime after the cafe we were booked into was closed. We were visiting from Bournemouth to take my wife’s Mum and Dad out for brunch. Well every cloud has a silver lining. What a great find. Fantastic welcome and friendly service, great coffee, fantastic food, locally sourced and the best sourdough I have had in a long time. Great choice, cater for vegetarians. We will definitely be back.

My husband and I are visiting Tavistock and wanted a delicious coffee that was from a local business and we were guided by a Google search to Mime. The coffee was prepared perfectly to order and the takeaway cups kept it warm for ages which was appreciated My husband also bought their cookie pie which was the most gorgeous slice of gooey deliciousness Compared to the disinterested and lacklustre service we received from a chain coffee shop not too far away Mime will definitely be getting as many repeat visits as possible while we're here

Amazing cafe with lovely outside seating and amazing home cooked food. The Delicious Quiches are freshly made and change every day with 4 varieties available most days. Sharing dipping Chocolate platter with home made waffles, chocolate brownies, strawberries and banana was excellent. Highly recommended.

What a lovely find. We were wandering Tavistock (which is a lovely town to visit, by the way) and stopped at Mine for lunch. The place has a homely, friendly feel, not least because of the two young ladies who were on duty today, very professional and friendly. You know how often you walk-in a place and all the staff completely ignore you doing whatever they’re doing, there was none of this at Mime, the young lady mostly on the till always said hello to people who came in and gave a cheery “I’ll be with you in a minute” if she was busy. The food was outstanding, home made and delicious, even the coleslaw that came with the quiche was homemade. You might miss Mime if you’re in Tavistock as it’s up an alleyway off the Main Street, but it’s definitely worth hunting out.

What a poor attitude. We arrived at 14:30 looking for coffee and snack. I asked what gluten free options they had. The young lady pointed to the carrot cake , when I asked if they had anything else, such as gluten free bread the older lady interjected, rudely that the cake was all there was. We left.

One lovely little back street cafe. Off West Street at the top of a little paved row of shops. Tried to visit before but was busy. Chose to sit upstairs as a group of 5 all alone. No question marks about the coffee and the giant homemade sausage rolls with meat from local butchers. Impressive volume of meat, enough for 2 adults! No question marks about the service at the time even though a little order confusion. A bag left behind by one of our party - their error. Unfortunately discovered missing at Postbridge. Told on phone could not see it, prompting rapid return to Tavistock only to find cafe had found bag after all cutting short Postbridge visit. Recognising everyone makes errors and it was genuine error on the cafe part but caused initially by my party. Please patronise this cafe. Local provenance of ingredients, fantastic sausage rolls and likely other items. This country needs quality and you will get it here.

This restaurant was popular, but, being quite small, has CLOSED at this spot, but HAS MOVED to FORE STREET about 300 yards to the East, near the East Okement River, and its name has changed to " The Allotment ", as it uses food all supplied locally. I highly recommend it for a smiley welcome & good wholesome food. Now sells jams & preserves.

Came here back in May this year and had a fantastic lunch with a warm welcome and excellent service so decided to return for another birthday celebration as we were so impressed before. Regretfully this time round it was no where near the same. As we were a big group (8 of us) we had to pre-order the food - fair enough. On arrival there wasn't great welcome and it then took about 15 minutes before coming to take our drinks order. When serving our drinks and opening the wine, the poor waiter was distracted by another customer and didn't follow though in continuing to open the bottle (which the bottle opener was half way through) so we had to finish that. Then, the food was another half an hour or so after that meaning we had been there for about 45 minutes already - bearing mind this was pre-ordered and you are limited on how long you can have the table for. When the food arrived, it was absolutely embarrassing - the portion sizes were like that of a snack. This wasn't tapas, it was an insult. The sourdough bread is £5.10 per portion and all it is is literally 4/5 slices of very small baguette bread. The so called "small-plates" were indeed VERY small. Some dishes lacked seasoning and were also bland - different or new chef perhaps? So be very cautious when ordering your food - our bill was £326.00 and we left hungry and very disappointed. Before in May we were stuffed. I have also read other people's reviews saying similar things so please do take note. It's clear the staff are either new or need training - by all means they were not rude at all, but inexperienced. We did leave them a tip out of courtesy however and didn't want to cause a fuss and complain on the day. Sadly we will not be returning, which is a real shame. Wish they had kept the same flair as before.
