We took our school children on a trip to Jesmond Dene soon what turned out to be a very wet and cold day. The staff at Millfield House could not have been more accommodating. They let us use their space for the children's lunches and were so friendly and pleasant. I personally love going to this little gem of a cafe with my dog at the weekend but was just so impressed with their hospitality to such a large group at with little notice. Thank you to the entire team for looking after us!

If I had not been told that there was a café here, I would have missed it. There is not much to indicate its presence (although you can definitely see the ice cream van outside). Appears to be dog friendly, accepts card payments. Given the amount of passing trade which must frequent this place, I was struck by a couple of thoughts. Firstly the handwritten list of foods and the allergens that they might contain, useful but would look more professional typed or even written under the individual food signs which would be much more informative. Secondly, the drinks prices are displayed on a black peg letter board with white letters falling off it, therefore you can't fully read all the prices! From memory, tea is £2, an americano 2.80 and latte 2.90. I ordered a latte which was quite average. All the drinks are served in takeaway cups. In the half an hour spent there, I did not see any staff come out to clear or wipe tables, however they had a bin where people essentially cleared their own cups. Inside the toilets there were signs to indicate previous vandalism therefore restricting operating hours, which was a little concerning and the automatic main door was incredibly squeaky. These are all things which could be picked up on if you wanted people to return to this café. The cashier was friendly and I did like the pictures on the wall along with the coloured stain glass window. But it wasn't a café that I would recommend to others for a social visit.

Very dirty. Toilets were dirty. The radiator under the hand dryer was filthy. The floor in the cafe looked like it hadn't been cleaned for months. The grime around the counter foor is disgusting. Such a shame. Definitely won't be going back as there are lots of other cafes close by which are much cleaner.

Visited today with friends after a walk through the Dene The young man serving was very friendly and the coffee was good so three stars for them We would have had a bacon roll but you only had brioche buns Yuk I know some people might like them but please offer an alternative Due to its position this cafe could be a little gold mine but it’s falling well short on so many levels. If you can’t be bothered sell up and give somebody else the opportunity Suggest you go and visit any of the Running Fox outlets to see how it’s done.

Visit Millfield house regularly when out walking for a coffee and to use loo ! Visited today - tuna may sandwich and raspberry and white chocolate cake with cappuccino very good as was service. Sadly though the venue is looking very tired and needs refurbishment - it's in an amazing location right next to pets corner within Jesmond Dene which has a constant flow of potential customers. Would be great to see above happening as Millfield House could be fabulous!

Came here for lunch with my baby after a walk in the dene. Had an panini which came with a lovely salad and warm potatoes. It was very tasty. I've eaten here before with friends and their babies and it was good then too. Prices are fair and staff friendly. Toilets clean and good for baby changing too!

Nice location but surprisingly poor cafe. Unimpressive decor. Average baked potatoes. Very stale and inedible scone. When we pointed this out a member of staff crumbled up another scone and agreed they were stale (he said they were bought in and not baked in the cafe). Nobody offered a refund.

Had a horrible bacon buttie here couple of years ago, bacon like hard leather and burnt, obviously been lying around for ages, vowed never again. However popped in this morning and friend said would get me a bacon butty. I wanted to go and look at bacon but had to stay with dogs. Thought well couldn't be as bad but it was. Agree with others also staff can be very off, lad today was lovely but I always steel myself when going to counter. What a shame for customers when it could be such a nice experience.

It's hard to believe I've been to the same place as the other reviews. It's in a superb setting with tables inside and out in a very sheltered courtyard opposite Pets Corner. The staff were friendly and helpful with scones, cakes and a good array of breakfast items in heated individual containers. I would love to go back for a brekky fry-up! I am happy to recommend it.

I’m disappointed that I had to drink from a take-away cup. I’m disappointed that my lemon drizzle cake was so old and dry. I’m disappointed that the owner / manager has so little imagination. I’m disappointed the outdoor asset is under developed. I’m disappointed that at 14:45 on a Wednesday the range of food items was reduced to a single sausage roll and two slices of Victoria sponge. C’mon owner / manager! You’ve got a cracking little position in Jesmond Dene; apparently unlimited yummy mummy / bourgeois Jesmond clientele; and a bloody good bloke on the till. This place could be excellent. I’ve given three stars when you really deserve two. I’ve added one for the bloke on the till (the only thing dragging you up).

This place is in a beautiful setting, in an attractive enough building with some great, cheap activities nearby. If you want anything other than an average coffee though, it is a bit of a let down. I can't help but feel with little imagination and a small amount of effort, this could potentially be a super spot for a coffee and cake, bite of lunch etc. However, it is incredibly underwhelming.

Went here on Saturday with my 2 young children and my sister. Was a lovely day until we stepped into the cafe. The man serving the food was quite rude and abrupt when I asked for a highchair (I had to get it myself by hunting the whole place apparently). I ordered a sandwich and cake to share with my children. The man serving grabbed the sandwich to heat it up without waiting for me to answer his question about whether I wanted it heated or not; so I paid for my items and sat down. At no point did the man state that I would have to go and collect the sandwich when it was cooked, and at no point did he shout over to us that it was ready. I therefore did not get my sandwich at all. I was busy with my 2 very young children so it only entered my head after leaving that I had paid for and not received said sandwich. The cafe itself is, as other reviews have stated, very much like a canteen with little to no atmosphere. There was only 1 other family in the cafe, everyone else was outside. The tables weren't cleaned properly and the chairs were sprawled all over the place. It does not warrant Starbucks prices when the customer service and environment is not on the same level. This is not to say that Starbucks is particularly good, just this place is far worse.

We were simply in need of a break on our walk from Gosforth to the Dene. We drank tea and shared a slice of coffee cake. Service was ok, but to be fair, we'd only ever use this café for that type of fayre. The staff could have done a much better job in clearing and wifi tables when they become available, especially on a busy Sunday afternoon. Tip: sit out the back, weather permitting, as it's quieter and more relaxing.

Me preguntó si había leche fresca.

Called in for quick drink & scones. Like sitting in the window seats watching the world pass by. Scones today - cheese was quite dry and fruit was tasteless. Drinks service was ok, but it’s not difficult to make two pots of tea.

Told we could not order food if we hadn’t booked, even though there was only one couple seated. the chef was sat at the bar having a pint, not a good look to be fair, but 20 minutes later someone wondered to the bar and ordered food. We then witnessed another couple try to order at the bar for them to be told they’d ran out of food so the kitchen was closed. Nice one!
