I have visited Miller's twice since my initial review and sorry to say that whilst I really hoped I could upgrade my four star review to five stars, I'm afraid a downgrade is in order. On the first of my last two visits, happy to say that the portion size of the chips had increased significantly and they were excellent quality. The fish was just as good too, but it's downhill from there though! The counter assistant seemed more interested in chatting to colleagues and looking at her phone than in serving me. She invited me to add my own salt and vinegar, which was fine, but then wandered off to chat with her colleagues again, rather than wait and finish packing the box after I'd added condiments, which was not fine. No 'thank you very much' and no 'goodbye' either, which is simply ignorant. The floor was dirty, the counter-top was greasy and grubby and the condiments tray was full of spills and food debris, but obviously chit-chat takes precedence over keeping the place clean! On my most recent visit, although it was cleaner, I got the same treatment from the counter assistant, although I'm not sure it was the same person as before. The chips portion size was still good, but they were overcooked and the batter on the fish was indifferent, whereas before it had been excellent. There's plenty of competition for fish and chips in Scarborough and if outlets don't stay on top of their game, they'll quickly fall out of favour. I'll give them one more try, but if standards continue to slip, it'll be my last.

Very friendly and efficient service. The place is spotless. Great prices, great menu and great quality fish and chips. Good portions especially for the price. Have tried three times now and will certainly be back.

Not been reopened for long (under new management), but well worth the wait. I had small haddock and chips and whilst the portion of chips was TOO small, the haddock was to die for; crispy batter, firm but moist. Most definitely the best in Scarborough and in terms of the many fish and chip outlets I've used, the best in Yorkshire, which obviously means the best in the world! Generous in size too at £4.50. The staff are extremely polite and friendly and the place is as clean as a whistle. My new, go to chippy, but please throw a few more chips on, so I can give you five stars!

I came here for the first time today, I went for haddock and chips and my partner went for battered sausage and chips. The food was excellent, the fish was cooked perfectly and the chips were spot on. I was also impressed by the customer service, friendly and they even gave us two scallops and some homemade tartare sauce free of charge which was lovely. I will definitely be returning and would highly recommend! 10/10

First time visiting this place. Ordered a standard Fish, Chips, Mushy Peas and an Orange Juice. When the meal came out, my wife had to have a total meal replaced because the vinegar bottle top fell off, (it was very lose). When my meal came, what I thought was going to be either freshly squeezed or at least bottled Orange Juice, was some cheap orange "pop". I told the waitress I ordered Orange Juice, and she said it was and they didn't do Orange Juice as I know it. The coke was also pretty much flavoured water. All in all, the meal was very bland and tasteless.

We had eaten here before and enjoyed it, so we booked for our anniversary meal. We thought we’d treat ourselves and have caviar first (£25). We were informed that it would probably come with the starters because, quote, “the chef has a prejudice against pre-starters.” (!!) Oh, so we will rush the caviar to ensure our starters don’t go cold, shall we? I pointed out that as paying guests, we wanted them separate… My crab Bon Bon starter was a bit dry, although my wife’s razor clams were “delicious”, to be fair. My sea bass was ok, but I felt the mackerel pate was way too big for the amount of fish served. I did not enjoy the pickled cucumber, but that’s just personal taste. My wife’s lemon sole was “nice”, but we both agreed the food was far below the standard we had enjoyed here previously. We did not fancy either of the TWO desserts on offer, so we finished and left the restaurant. I’m afraid we won’t be back. The waiting staff were nice, but we’ll go somewhere that doesn’t seem scared of their chef in future.
