Staying at the premier Inn we wanted something easy to eat with a young toddler that didn't involve a pub meal. Slightly odd having fish n chips along with kebabs and Chinese takeaway..... But the fish was tasty and chips equally good. Mushy peas were sweet for some reason. Cash only although that's is a cashpoint next door. Staff weren't particularly friendly but I put that down to how busy and stressed they were.

What an absolute disgrace of a man. The way he talks to his staff (women) . I was there with my brother & there was another lady waiting for her order. He said to employee "when l am talking to you look I to my eyes". This isn't the first time l have heard him be rude to staff. What a horrible man. I will never return again.

Great takeaway...as always. The king prawns in the curry were the best I've ever tasted! My hubby loved his fried rice dish too!

Best all-rounder for miles around. Chinese.fish.burgers.keebab. Also a fine selection of canned drinks.I don't Go anywhere else.

Have tried a couple of Chinese in Chester and they have been awful, very hungover and only round the corner we decided to try here.. I didn't have high hopes as it wasn't really a Chinese place but omg the food was so so so good, will defo be returning and would like to try the fish too. Would of given it 5 stars for food but there is a couple of things that lets it down The Chinese sides are very large we ordered chicken wings for £8.60 and apparently it's a meal would suggest that a smaller portion is offered as a side.. like they do on the fish extras 10 hot wings £5, It's cash only which isn't a huge problem because there is a cash machine but also no one has cash anymore 🫣 And lastly I ordered our Chinese and when I was waiting the guy said to me "hope there's alot of you" nah we are just hungover and fat... I would recommend not commenting on what people are eating haha, apart from that will be back ☺️

Flakey fish, chips and curry sauce with a good bottle of pinot grigio made a very enjoyable fish supper

Title of my review pretty much says it all. Guy who served me, it wasn't even that it came over like he was doing me a favour serving me, more like it was an imposition that he had to serve me. Curry sauce awful. Pees, more like a half portion. Sausages average at best. Not been to this chippy in years, for no particular reason, but wont be going back anytime soon.

Poor customer service. Collected an order and when we arrived home there was a large fish portion missing. Little or no offer of help or any reimbursement. Tasteless. No option of paying with a card. Much, much better F&C shops within a mile - I suggest you use them. Lucky to get one star.

Had a take away meal from here as a treat for a few people and children. Food was excellent from here. The chicken fried rice is the best I have ever tasted and I wouldn’t go anywhere else for it now. One of the children left a couple of their chicken nuggets so I tried one and they where delicious.

Have been a few times. First time our order had item missing but luckily I checked it before we left so no major inconveniences. This time however fish and chips were very, very greasy. Our children had nausea all evening. Never going back again to this place

They only take cash! Owner must be avoiding tax. Went to this one has it happened to be on the way home. Not been here before. Not COVID secure at all. None of the staff were wearing face coverings or socially distanced from each other. Chips were stale. The portion sizes for a large portion was smaller than a standard from other chippys. Definitely not visiting this place again and supporting a tax avoider. Need an HSE visit too!

Second visit to this chippy and second time my order has been incorrect. Food is ok but you just don’t get what you asked for, even though you paid for it. (Large chips not large by most chippy’s standards either).

I was looking forward to chippy tea after a long week but was sadly left a bit disappointed this time round, when previously they had been good. Chips were decent, but gravy had an odd taste and spring rolls were bland. Additionally, we got home to find one meal missing. They did correct this quickly after I phoned, but this was extra faff that wasn't really worth it for the food quality. Shame really as previous visits had been good and previous staff much more competent.

As a chippy it's ok, about average. Great choice though. But as a Chinese it's excellent, best one in Chester we've tried. Bit of a hidden gem.

En el pasado, el pescado con patatas fritas era bueno desde aquí, pero el fin de semana pasado comí pescado y patatas fritas y el pescado olía fatal. El pescado era de color gris, la carne estaba blanda y olía a pescado. Estoy seguro de que esto estaba funcionando y no debería haberse vendido. También estaba un poco preocupado por la gente que entregaba dinero durante el encierro y en ningún momento la persona que estaba sirviendo puso antibac en sus manos después de manejar el dinero. Me pregunto seriamente si volveré aquí.

El pescado estaba bueno, pero simplemente, en mis 39 años en esta tierra, ¡nunca he tenido peores patatas fritas! ¡Tan empapado y patético que podría haber moldeado un puré insípido en forma de chip y me lo comí! De hecho, tuve que ir a otra tienda después de haber comido mi pescado en casa para comprar algunas papas fritas diferentes, ya que fueron a la papelera después de comer las dos primeras. Tampoco tenían color y eran blancos. El color de las patatas fritas rimaba perfeccionado con su espacio de sabor.

I use this chippy all the time, it has friendly staff and is clean, the food no matter what you are having, English or Chinese, it's good value.

Could not believe the attitude from the boy who makes the kebabs in here disgusting! Poor blonde hair girl takes a lot of grief from him...this is the third occasion I’ve heard him speak nasty to her boss needs to have words and get rid!

Every time i visit my mum and dad if we have a takeway i go here as they live near.

First time trying the Chinese food from here worse mistake where do I start the sweet and sour chicken the chicken was dry way overcooked the sauce was the worse bit no taste to it at all very bland the chicken chow mein the chicken was stone cold only nice thing about the whole thing was the chips serious guys you need a new cook won't be returning any time soon worse part is the bad stomach and the constant trips to the toilets ☠️☠️

Walked past with the intention to order between £30-£35 worth of food for friends. Door was open, food was cooked and staff were ready and yet they rudely turned me away when the time was 16:59 because they open at 17:00. It was pathetic, rude, and they lost custom from me and everyone I know. Instead we ordered from Adam’s Chip Shop and the service was stunning and the food was exquisite.

We visit this establishment for the food which is nice. Every time we visit the staff are squabbling. It really is pathetic the customers kind of stand around looking at each other wondering what the he'll is going on. Sort out your attitudes guys, people will stop coming!

The female manager had the worst attitude and the the lads working with her were just as bad used to think this was the best chippy in chester. The food was inedible and when I said I can’t eat boiled rice all’s I got back was attitude from the staff never going here again.

this is a nice chip shop, though we have been a few time we find the chips are so dry on the inside do not know if its the potato,s the use or the frying oil, this puts us off a bit, though the meals with out chips are very nice

I found the attitudes of front of house at this fish and chip shop was very very poor and you wouldn’t of minded if the fish and chips was the best you’ve ever tasted but they just weren’t.

Waited 35 mins for a kebab gave up in the end and got my money back shocking service and staff attitude stinks

Visited for the 1st time on Friday lunch and the chips were the best that I have ever tasted. I will definitely return when in the area.

I can honestly say i use Mill Lane on a regular basis and the food is great and the staff are great and have never had a bad meal here that is good old chippy food and the chinese menu is great.

Manager is as miserable as sin but other staff are lovely he doesn't speak to them, it requires air con give it a wide birth

We live pretty close to the Mill Lane fish bar located just by the Bache train station and have been frequenting the place since we moved here in 2001. Ample parking available at the nearby Morrisons supermarket or in the local shop car parks directly opposite. In my opinion it is the best chippy in Chester by a long shot and offers good quality traditional fish and chips along with a good authentic Chinese menu cooked by a Chinese chef. Takeaway only with no option to eat on site.

Prime site at the Bache. Popped in here on the off chance as I was hungry and had little time to find anywhere better. Sadly disappointed. Leathery chips with no flavour, except that of rancid fat, and an unidentifiable piece of white fish that was definitely not Cod by any stretch of the imagination even though I had asked for Cod and chips not 'any cheap bit of fish' and chips! The only redeeming feature is that they just grudgingly accepted my request not to have it covered in loads of salt and some not particularly nice looking malt vinegar. Avoid like the plague.
