Mill House in Wokingham

Came here for a family lunch and just stayed for a drink as the place is really grubby! Needs a good clean! I would hate to look inside the kitchen. Definitely would not recommend. The marquee outside looked nice.

Special occasion at a friend's wedding. Excellent food throughout. Soup was lovely with plenty of bread. Main course of stuffed chicken was wonderfully moist and tender; vegetables not overcooked either. The house wines were lovely and reasonably priced. At the bar they served ale from the local Marlow brewery, two very nice examples of bitter and dark ale.Again, reasonable prices. The following morning's breakfast was hearty and was made with good ingredients (bacon, egg, sausage etc). Toast arrived hot too. I think that the staff make a real effort to make the eating experience a good one.

The food was good, a pleasant starter of crab three ways (if I was being really critical, slightly too much pineapple and not enough chilli in the salsa) and a good chicken ballotine. The other dishes on the menu looked good too. The welcome is great, door opened, drinks prepared in the bar by the fire and pleasant chat while menus were read. Overall the experience was good, but the atmosphere in the dining room, if it’s quiet, needs a bit of thought.

Bride and groom to be and parents experienced a pre wedding tasting. We chose as many dishes as possible to see what they looked liked and obviously tasted. All starters were substantial delicious and well presented. All mains were amazing in flavour presentation and quality. Puddings were good to look at but not exceptional. However the staff could not have been more obliging . Service was impeccable and very professional. We look forward to attending in March. Would throughly recommend this venue.

We enjoyed an excellent lunch today with the roast beef and lamb main courses being outstandingly good, both served with al dente vegetables. The sirloin was beautifully cooked, both medium rare and well done to our requests and the pressed lamb was delicious. Sticky toffee pudding and coffees rounded off a lovely lunch. It is worth noting that our seven year old granddaughter chose the roast beef and the sticky toffee and I noted that the restaurant made a very reasonable one off charge for both courses. Restaurants that do that need to be celebrated for excellent customer service. The quality of service and friendliness of the staff today is to be commended and we will certainly return soon.

Excellent choice of menu, all of our "odd" dietary requirements catered for, food came out together, hot and fresh. Nothing to complain about at all. Very happy

The Mill House was a perfect venue to meet for our friend’s 80th Birthday Lunch. We were booked in the large marquee located in the garden and were pleasantly surprised how warm and comfortable it was despite it being a cold, damp November day, definitely appreciated by all the guests, in view of their senior years! Our roast lunch was hot, delicious and served by very friendly and attentive staff. We would certainly be more than happy to go back there again.

We were quite excited to go there on a beautiful Sunday for brunch. The surroundings were lovely. We did not have reservations, but they were kind enough to accommodate us. The roast beef was dry and a little tough... not our favourite cut. Given the number of customers, you would think they might choose a better cut of beef, or cook the one they served much longer. The Yorkshires were a little chewy. They did not inform us that we would have to go to the bar to place our order and pay. We waited a while for service. The staff was very nice. I was not used to having dogs in an eating area. Pleased the dogs didn't come quite to the area we were in.

Ths is aperdfect location for events, the use of thier huge outsside venue designed for events, is perfect. Good food, good wine and adequate service.

We stayed here for a friends wedding.pleased with our room and a good hearty breakfast. The marquee was a great venue for the reception and lovely and warm even in November.

We were invited to a Golden anniversary meal for 60 guests in the marquee at the rear of the house. We thought it might be chiily as it was avery wet and windy day. However, the marquee was toasty and welcoming, as were the staff. They seemed very organised yet unobtrusive and kept the meals, speeches etc flowing well. As we had all preordered our meals, they came in good time and everybody seemed to enjoy, especially the rack of lamb main course. We live quite local to this hotel but have never been there before. We will try the Sunday lunch in the main house next....

The Mill house provide a varied menu which is always presentable at a reasonable price. Everything is made there and you can taste the difference :) will be visiting again soon

We visited for a wedding anniversary and didn’t know the venue before our visit. We were both pleasantly surprised when we walked into the beer garden next to a running stream. This place looks like it hosts weddings too as the gardens were just lovely. We had a three course meal, food was excellent and the service was friendly and attentive. If we were ever passing I wouldn’t have any issues revisiting.

I’ve eaten here several times and never been disappointed, whether it is lunch or dinner. Excellent choice of dishes from locally caught game to traditional courses. The staff are personable, attentive and service excellent. Highly recommended and caters for couples to large groups.

Had our daughters wedding and reception at the Mill House on Fri 13th Oct 2017 (the happy couples choice !) Everything was to our satisfaction, from discussing and agreeing arrangements and event timescale to the organisation and delivery of a seamless day, all in a house party setting. We had the whole run of the hotel including accommodation. The gardens were well cared for and complemented the hotel. Our grateful thanks to Kim and Mark, the owners, to Fiona ,who we understand was performing MC duties for the first time, together with all the friendly and efficient support staff, including the kitchen brigade. We would unreservedly recommend the hotel as a wedding/reception venue

Attended an anniversary celebration. Very pleasant surroundings, excellent food supported by very good service.

To be fair the hotel was quiet and the restaurant was almost empty, so I assume they weren't running a full team in the kitchen. Some of the food seemed to have been reheated, not great.

Not much else to say. It is family run by two amazing people husband and wife they make you feel welcomed a comfortable. The food is very nice 5 star food and service. We also had our wedding here on 30th May 2014 and everyone...

Last night we attended our wonderful friend Dorothy's 80th birthday party in the marquee! From entering to a champagne reception, the delicious meal (which we had chosen in advance), the toast, unexpected cheese and biscuits and finishing with coffee and chocolate - it was faultless!...

A friend from Belgium was visiting and this restaurant recommended. The food was amazing and the restaurant ladies lovely, great friendly service, a return is a must.

There may not be an awful lot of choice on the menu but the quality of the food was very good. The staff was very kind and helpful.

So nice we've booked our wedding here... Could a review say more than that? Excellent food, staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. Grounds are beautiful and makes for a nice romantic meal out. Highly recommend this :)

Disfrutamos de una maravillosa cena de menú para la 12 hace algunos meses. Sin embargo, fuimos más recientemente y amigos de celebración familiar por más de 50 cuando tuvimos un buffet de carne asada. Los embutidos eran bastante grasos, las verduras estaban casi cruda y las patatas estaban muy hecho y recalentada. agradable para reunirse pero comida decepcionante.

El servicio en Mill House era exactamente como te gustaría. amable pero discreto, atento y discreto. junto con buena comida y un restaurante muy bien distribuido, domingo cena con buenos amigos era una combinación ganadora. Sin duda lo recomiendo a mis amigos y mi familia se lleva atrás para una comida muy pronto. Me encantó la tela blanca de mesa mostrando la atención al detalle en las pequeñas cosas, así como los grandes. Bien hecho Mark y su personal.

Nos presentamos en el restaurante justo después de las 8 pm en el día de San Valentín a un recorte masivo de poder - un árbol justo bajando la carretera había bajado y quitaron las líneas. Sin embargo, el personal nos dijo que esto no sería un problema. En su lugar, disfrutamos de la velas encendidas genuina experiencia! La comida es buenísima y el personal encantador - no podría haber pedido algo mejor!

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch. Loved the setting. The owners Mark and Kim couldn't do enough for us and looked after my elderly father very attentively.

A su llegada, nos sentamos en la zona de salón, fue seguido por un par de minutos a instalarse. El propietario (muy profesional ) llegó y nos preguntó si queríamos bebidas. Menús llegó. El menú es compacto, lo cual es bueno. Los aperitivos estaban algunos de los mejores que he tenido, salmón para mí y vieiras. increíble. los platos principales. pato para mi esposa, que describió como bellamente húmedas y llena de sabor. yo opté por el filete con queso, fue un poquito malo aquí. El filete era un poco difícil y muy pequeña en comparación con la de otros huéspedes, sin embargo, era muy sabroso y se ha de señalar que las verduras era muy fresco, justo encima de dente.

Llevé a mi otro para un domingo por la tarde un té el Mill House, Swallowfield, justo al sur de la M4 en lectura. El servicio era excelente y teníamos un encantadora mesa con vistas a los hermosos jardines. La mesa estaba con una mesa limpia blanca tela y un precioso jarrón de flores frescas. Una taza de té con una jarra de agua extra traían a la mesa con una bandeja de sándwiches. salmón, carne, jamón y queso con pickle todo perfecta con ensalada. todo estaba muy agradable y tranquilos.Más té fue entregado cuando el puesto de tarta llegamos. Los pasteles eran brindar luz y fresco y realizadas por su excelente chef de pasty.tuvimos bollos con mermelada y nata.crema eclairs rellenos de chocolate, tarta limón, queso torta. he terminado la mía pero mi madre y padre luché la camarera cuidadosamente envueltas en lo que era la izquierda para que pudieran tomar en casa. Cuando habíamos terminado nos sentamos en el jardín y bebimos un vaso de agua helada mientras disfruta del paisaje. Lo que una tarde encantadora y todo por 13,95 libras cada uno.

Fuimos a cenar con mi marido última noche (26/6) y fue acogido por un muy amable y jovial señora. Tomamos unas copas antes de cenar en el patio y admirar los hermosos jardines muy bien cuidados. El restaurante estaba bien decorado pero vacío, lo cual estaba bien, ya que tenían sutil música tocando en el fondo. braseado Vieira plato era bueno, pero el plato de cordero con unos pastores en miniatura pastel con zanahorias púrpura brécol y miel destacan era delicioso! Elegimos pudding bread & butter Choc blanco con crema pastelera y tras una larga espera fue presentado a mí. No estaba mal pero estimó que habían tomado del microondas y tenía crema pastelera Ambrosia derramado sobre él en vez de flan casero, lo cual fue decepcionante. El gerente y camarera había sido conscientes de que con sólo 4 personas en el restaurante que había esperado un inaceptablemente largo tiempo para nuestros postres así que nos compensó por eliminar el costo de estos y nuestros cafés de la factura. En general, un entorno precioso, un personal amable y buena comida así que, sin duda, volveremos.

Professional but homely, excellent food, lovely people own and run it. We live locally so they cant afford to make mistakes. Having said that we are very very proud to be a part of the Mill village

Organicé un cumpleaños almuerzo especial familiar para 11 de nosotros y elegimos el Mill House basándonos en otras críticas. estaba muy contento con la amable y cálida bienvenida, y también que le habían hecho una habitación por separado para nuestro uso personal, que nos dio un entorno ideal. Teníamos tres buffet los domingos de platos que cubría los diferentes miembros de la familia. fue muy bueno de su tipo con el plato principal bien cocinada, caliente y recién disponibles. Excelente opción de budines. Tuvimos algunas necesidades dietéticas especiales que estaban dispuestos a atender. El servicio fue atento sin ser entrometido. Nos alojamos durante algún tiempo después de tomar café y eso no fue un problema. En general, un éxito para nosotros, seguro que volvemos.

Well presented and good variety of food, extensive choice of good wines and not outrageously expensive. good service and nice surroundings. Excellent car parking and a very pleasant experience

Nothing to dislike about eating her. A good breakfast selection and the Dinner Menu was limited but good. The Wines were affordable, hald bottles were available for some wines and you could be as extravagant as you wished.

Very nice restaurant. Food very good and service to match. Only complaint was, we went as a family party for Sunday lunch and were charged full price for the grandchildren three of which were under five. I didn't feel this was very fair.
