Top notch food. Great service. Lovely location. We've eaten in all the local places and this is the best by far. Well recommended!

Having stayed at The Mill previously I had no hestitation at booking 2 rooms (party of 4) for 2 nights for my daughter's graduation. Rooms are tastefully decorated. Lovely countryside setting next to canal and lock. My twin room was canal side and I was lucky enough to see two herons fly by. We ate in the busy restaurant and all had delicious mains. The black pudding and chorizo croquettes were particularly nice. The breakfast room overlooks the lock and we had the full English whilst watching a family of swans with their cygnets. As well as cereals, fruits etc breakfast choice is limited to full English/Vegan, or items from. As a 4 star It would have been nice to opt for smoked salmon, avocado or eggs benedict, rather than have the full English 2 days running. All staff were friendly, polite and helpful. I have no problem in recommending The Mill if you need to stay in Lancaster (less than 10 min drive), and would definately stay there again.

This was for 2 graduation celebrations,we had never been before and it had beautiful surroundings. We all looked at menu and 6of is decided fish and chips but we're then told they were out of this.3 people then decided on £8.95 for 1fish cake and £5 chips, which was bland and disappointing except the tartare sauce. My husband had a hamburger and chips, which had no salad or vegetables but was ok,my daughter wasn't well but had a bland and pale soup. One person had chilli flatbread which was nice and enjoyed. The deserts were ok but not worth £8. There was 6 1/2 meals and 4 puddings at £165,service was good and often asked did we want any thing else.We will not be back as not impressed.

We had a family lunch gathering here to celebrate my 70th birthday. We have been before so knew it would be good. I think today they surpassed themselves. The staff were so friendly, efficient, helpful and professional. The food was so delicious and excellent and really good service too. The staff did everything they could to give us a wonderful celebration. Unfortunately the canal is currently closed but you can still walk alongside it, well normally but not on the day we visited as it was raining. I did manage to pop out in between downpours to see a swan with her signets and admire the view. We stayed quite a while just enjoying my birthday celebrations and no-one was rushing us to leave. I would recommend and will go an again when I can.

Upon entering, staff were so polite, we had a table overlooking the lock. Quality time together- no tv- no music, excellent food (the beef was lovely) Probably the best Sunday lunch in Wyre when you add up the views, location, staff and quality of food.£15.95???

Over the years we have enjoyed many excellent lunches and evening meals in the restaurant as well as enjoying numerous coffees in the bar when walking. On almost every occasion we have been accompanied by our little dog. He has been welcomed, often greeted by name, over the years and enjoyed sitting quietly in the bar. We called today (for the first time for months owing to this odious virus) and on entering were immediately told by staff that dogs were not allowed in the bar and that they were no longer allowed in bedrooms. Fortunately today was pleasant weather and so we sat outside in a nice enough area. The proprietors are of course quite entitled to make a business decision but we feel this rather short-sighted given the rural location. Sadly, we will not be returning but instead will go to the recently refurbished Stork Hotel just a few hundred metres away where does are most definitively welcome.

The food was delicious. The service was smashing. A lovely place and it had changed in 21 years. It was our 26 th wedding anniversary. We are locals and I would recommend. A business guest was a little rude using his phone loudly through the duration of our meal, the staff were apologetic and gave us complimentary coffees in the lounge. Xxx Thankyou.

Excellent food and great atmosphere. Helped by the fact that it’s not in walking distance so it totally filters out drunks and undesirables. Staff are welcoming and attentive.. a hidden gem and probably pound for pound one of the best eating establishments in the area!

Our party of 6 had dinner here a few days ago. The staff were extremely warm & friendly. The menu offered a good variety of dishes with locally sourced produce which we appreciated. 2 of us had the mussels, 2 the salmon en croute and 2 the steak & ale pudding. We all cleared our plates. The meals were served piping hot and the portion size was more than adequate. Some of us enjoyed dessert and again we really enjoyed what we ordered. I would have preferred to have a table in the elevated area overlooking the canal as we were in a lower area which was very quiet and so lacked atmosphere. I love dogs but the only other diners in our area had a very shrill Labrador so his barking irritated us somewhat. I would definitely eat here again but may choose lunchtime when the restaurant is busier and one can enjoy the location close to the canal locks.

the food is very good if a tad expensive---service was efficient and friendly but the big selling point is the tranquil setting---if you like laid back this is the place for you.

The location and overall setup is fantastic, the staff were very friendly and the food was well presented and tasty. Unfortunately when not even half full we had to wait 5 minutes to be seated, a further 10 minutes for our order to be taken, incorrect drinks order, no horseradish sauce when serving roast beef dinner and my burger was just lacking and too simple with option of adding even cheese

Friendly staff, excellent food. The restaurant has lovely views of the canal. We were entertained during our meal by the antics of a heron who apparently is a regular visitor to that part of the waterway.

The staff are friendly and make you feel welcome. The menu has a good variety of meals with some specials. They were happy to cater for allergies and to make substitutions.( salad for chips). Portions are generous and attractively presented. We did not feel rushed to order or finish. There is a good wine list. We were automatically offered a jug of tap water + ice and lemon.
