We arrived in Stroud mid afternoon on a Saturday. The kids were starving and every other place we tried to get into was in the process of shutting. Despite Stroud being packed, Milano appeared to be the only place open that was still doing lunch or any type of food for that matter ! The lady behind the counter was super friendly and everything that we had to eat was tasty and really good value too. My youngest especially liked the Spag Bol and the proper milk shake made with ice cream. Don`t be put off by some of the reviews on here, it`s a nice place and really friendly. Just don`t go in expecting a restaurant, the clue is in the word cafe !

Went here for a breakfast and was very disappointed. I was very hungry and I still could’nt barely eat it. Very poor quality food. The hash brown (my favourite part) was cooked in oil so old it had a very usual taste and I left it after a bite. Cheap sausages and fatty bacon plus cold beans which covered most of the food. The price was okay so thankfully it wasn’t too much of a loss. Highly advise not to have breakfast here. Not sure about the lunch and dinner but certainly won’t be trying.

I visited this place with my sister due to recommendations and I was extremely disappointed. I started with a mint milkshake which was good but once the food arrived, I immediately noticed that my jacket potato with tuna smelt weird. Even upon eating it, something just wasn’t right. The canned tuna tasted as if it was off, I’ve never tasted tuna as disgusting as this before. My sister also tried it and also agreed that it didn’t taste right. I ate the potato but left all of the tuna as it was inedible. The salad was ok but I didn’t like how you don’t have a choice of dressing. it came pre-dressed in some sort of pomegranate sauce which wasn’t to my taste, meaning this was wasted too. Whilst I was eating the potato, I noticed a small fly crawling inside and there were big flies hanging around the restaurant which was very off putting. The waitress was ok but at the end of the meal the chef came out to ask if our meals were ok. When we complained about my meal, she was almost rude, saying that the mayonnaise was opened that very morning and was also in my sisters meal. When my sister asked about the tuna, she was very dismissive and wouldn’t accept that something was wrong. She didn’t even say it was fresh. All in all, it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had and the smell of the tuna made me feel nauseous. Upon checkout, full price was charged with no consideration whatsoever. Never going back to this place.

I meet a friend for a catch up three times a year and enjoy the service and lovely food. We both had a full breakfast and it's good value for money. Cheers

Just what you need in a café good coffee and food with helpful staff all food cooked to order nice and hot.

What a lovely find. Stopped here for lunch today. They have quite an extensive menu to. Choose from. We ordered a special omlette with ham, mushrooms cheese and onions. This was served with a lovely fresh side salad and chips. Also a all day breakfast which came with 2 slices of toast. The portions were very generous and we were stuffed by the time we finished. It was so nice you didn’t want to leave anything. The staff were polite and quick to serve. I would definitely recommend and if in the area will go back.

We went over to the farmers market.And decided to go in here on the recommendation of my sister in law.We were not disappointed.I had scampi chips and salad.My husband had a mushroom omelette chips and salad .And a pop of tea for two .great service ,value for money .

Simply the staff make our stay so very special - we used to come here before Dad passed away ( some 5 years now) Best food in the County as we are concerned. I have eaten in many places around the world, but this family is special - they will take whatever you order, in anyway you like it and do it to your tastes. I haven’t met many places that would do that. Fast foods it is not, fresh food it is, 5* hygiene it is, accommodating it is - Also for any Vegans - Simply ask and they will try and accommodate you. Please don’t let the language barrier, make you less talkative, as it is the language of love of their cafe/restaurant that they speak, and they only wish to help. Go see for yourself, don’t let others tell you untruths. Gloucester County’s best kept secret - This place yet World round recognition. I have been coming here for years with all my family and friends. 5 * hygiene - not many in Stroud that’s for sure, the people working here offer SUPERB SERVICE ALWAYS, You just need to ask the regulars that use it, and not some mindless one off person who may feel to vent their anger on something other than themselves. They make you feel like you ‘ Are family’

Have been back and forth to milanos for 10 years. Good food, tastes fresh and always beautifully presented, staff are friendly and helpful and it's a relaxed atmosphere. The food is good value for money, have eaten in a lot more expensive so called restaurants who haven't come close to the quality of food milanos serve up. A little cafe with a lot of heart!

Best food in the County, and as for the previous comment by Janet. Please ignore as I have been coming here for years with all my family and friends. 5 * hygiene - not many in Stroud that’s for sure, the people working here are exceptionally helpful and considerate. Really must have been a bad day for Janet to make comments like that. Unheard of in this cafe. Food cooked to perfection, SUPERB SERVICE ALWAYS, You just need to ask the regulars that use it.

Bad service , the girl who serve me wasn’t polite , she was asking me what I want so aggressive , she didn’t check if I enjoy my food . Terrible , never come back

My friend takes me here every time I'm in Stroud town centre. It's got comfortable seats and a good menu. I like the breakfast options and the staff are friendly and prices reasonable

Needed a place to eat , sit comfortably and chat to friend. This cafe is central and has warm, clean and spacious seating. There is a wide menu of English classics at great value. The service was efficient and took note of peoples individual dietary needs. I had mushroom omelette, chips and salad for £5.75. Loads of mushrooms and colourful salad all served with a smile.Drinks also priced well. Will return when in Stroud.

My partner and I eat lunch in Milano's almost every day. The food is always of the highest standard, lovingly prepared and beautifully presented. The portions are generous and they are always willing to substitute vegetables or salad for chips. Vegetables. Let's just be clear here... a portion consists of fresh broccoli, green beans, carrots, brussels , coli or whatever else is in season. This is a rare thing in a budget cafe in the UK. Side salads are pretty and inventive. The fluffy omelettes are to die for and, the faggots are amazing and the chef does an amazing Turkish breakfast which is not even on the menu. Ask for details. The coffee is great. The staff are extremely attentive and friendly. For a freshly cooked, delicious lunch or breakfast, you do not need to look any further than Milano's.

My family have used this lovely cafe many times. We feel that we are visiting old friends and the welcome you receive is so genuine. The food you get at Milanos is exactly what you expect from an British style cafe. Great breakfasts and tradional British favourites, well cooked and decent portions. Looking forward to to my next breakfast there.

Stroud has no doubt a multitude of cafes, brasseries and restaurants but Milano's caught our eye. It had loads of seating but only maybe a dozen customers. The menu was quite extensive with something to suit everyone. A waitress arrived to take our order. Maybe it was her limited command of English, maybe she'd had a long day.... but her demeanour said that she would rather be anywhere else but serving in this cafe. A second waitress brought our meal which was really very good for the money, but yet again, the whole demeanour was one of indifference or maybe annoyance at having to serve us. Maybe it was a bad day fir them both.

We are regulars here at Milanos. .We are not locals but travel most Saturdays to enjoy the food and atmosphere at this lovely welcoming cafe.The food is always fantastic,fresh and the menu has a good selection of food to suit everyone.The mixed salad is my favourite and taste and presentation are first class.The owners and staff always are friendly and make us Welcome. We would highly recommend to anyone who wants to eat or drink while in Stroud

Visitamos este café dos veces en el mismo día, la primera a las 11 de la mañana, donde nos tomamos unas bebidas y algo ligero para comer, el segundo tiempo más tarde a la hora de la comida nos fuimos, fue muy concurrida, pero encontramos una mesa donde el personal nos atendió unos minutos después, nos sentamos.

Visitamos para almorzar con mi pareja, cuando le pregunté a la camarera si tenían leche de soja me dio el más sucio aspecto y gruñó un "no", entonces ella procedió a tanto como tirar los cubiertos en la mesa y luego bajar.

Siempre hizo muy bienvenido. Maravilloso servicio incluso en la época más veces. La comida siempre es de la más alta calidad. Un ambiente familiar muy agradable. Realmente la gente bella que siempre hace ese esfuerzo extra.

Mi esposa y yo siempre visitar este café cuando visitando a familiares en Stroud. El menú es amplio y variado, y la grandes porciones son una buena relación calidad-precio. Este negocio familiar siempre dieron una cordial bienvenida a sus clientes. Bien merece una visita.

I have been to this café on many occasions when visiting Stroud. I keep returning because the food, though basic, is very, very good; and the coffee is excellent. It is the ideal pit stop for a good old traditional breakfast or lunch, it is very reasonably priced and always clean. Can't say any more really except that I shall be going again next time I visit Stroud.

The café offers good breakfasts I visit often with my wife when in town. The staff are very friendly and efficient, even when they are busy you don't have to wait to long for your food that always arrives hot.

My friend and i goes to Stroud shopping every couple of weeks and always go to Milano's Caffe, we have tried other Cafe's but no one comes close so we now go to Milano's for lunch when ever we are in Stroud and recommend it to other family and friends who now also agree its the best. Staff is also very friendly and welcoming ( and got to know what drinks we have ) food is cooked fresh and you get loads, well worth the money, ( which is reasonable ) well worth a try if you are ever in town.

With the ample choice of cafe's to eat at in Stroud this is definitely one of the best. Its always busy and the service is great.Normal things you would expect to find on the menu consist of sandwiches, rolls and baguettes all of which are reasonably priced and delicious.

Good freshly cooked food at very reasonable prices. Staff always very pleasant. Restaurant spotlessly clean.

We used to visit here quite regularly but after the refurbishment the prices were a lot higher, but while in Stroud today decided to visit my wife chose the cottage pie and I had the faggots unfortunately my mashed potatoes were just lukewarm and the cottage pie was lukewarm also maybe if the meals were put on hot plates and not cold ones it would have been different but as it is we wont be going back.

This was the first place I visited in Stroud when I was house hunting in 2001. My son aged 6 loved it. The decor has changed a couple of times since then but this is still a family run business with a loyal following. Good honest food with helpful, friendly service.

The breakfast consists of quality food, well cooked, there's not a better breakfast to be found in gloucestershire, being a taxi driver I should know, very reasonable price, left a good tip

I sometimes stop here for lunch when I'm going about Stroud and they do excellenet jacket potatoes. Friendly, nicely presented and relaxing.

My husband & I had a meeting in the Stroud area but we had arrived far too early, so we decided to go for breakfast, not being familiar with the area & nothing shouted out at us on TripAdvisor regarding breakfast so we had a wonder around but we were expecting lots of sweet little tea rooms, but we couldn't find anything like that! so in the end we just went into the nearest place Milano's, and it was fantastic even better than a top hotel would serve and not swimming in grease the quality was top class.The staff were also lovely and the toilets were immaculate. Fortunately for us we will be going back there in a couple of weeks for another meeting and we will definitely be making time to have breakfast at Milano's.

Had all day breakfast in Milano's today. Very well cooked and presented, even had chips included. Good service and staff who really tried to make us welcome and accommodate our requirements.

I Stopped here for a coffee but when I asked for an espresso I was given instead a cup filled until the top with something that I would not call "espresso", not even "coffee".Was expecting an espresso instead.
