Midway Truck Stop in Shropshire

Had to write a review. Came here for overnight stay in my truck, the ladies who are serving are amazing very helpful, but best of all was the food. At the counter it said special lasagna, so I thought we'll see about that. Out it came , OMG probably the lasagne I've ever had in my life, banging, melt in the mouth perfection. Next time I told the ladies to call it Extra special lasagna you won't be disappointed. Thank you ladies for an exceptional experience ❤️

Went here on a solo motorcycle ride on recommendations on a biker cafes facebook page service was slow and lackadaisical I waited for nearly 5 minutes for anyone to show up at the counter to take my order (I only wanted coffee and cake) the inside was scruffy and dated with gingham oil cloth table cloths , the coffee was adequate if a little tasteless the cake was on a plate coered with clingfilm but despite this it was dry. All in all quite disappointing. Next time I will try Ma Bakers next door which is unfortunately closed on a Tuesday (the day I visited).

Great food and service the food was excellent and the cafe was very nice and clean then staff was friendly helpful friendly

Brilliant breakfast cannot fault it, good food, good prices. Proper truck/motorbike stop off. Open till 2pm everyday, early starts!

Typical truck stop serving great breakfasts You get a choice, friendly staff,reasonably priced, ample parking for cars and a dedicated bike only parking .

Me my partner 2 children aged 5 and 6 broke down about 7.10am on Friday 20th October managed to get car in safe place just outside the truck stop we went in for some drinks and food while Partner tried to sort car it couldn’t be fixed so had to call rac out so we were stuck in car for 3 hours the kind lady who served us think her name was faith came out says the boss said we can wait wait in side the boss came up to us not sure off name was really kind asked if we all wanted any food or drinks or did kids want some sweets which they did I thought this was so kind and caring and carnt thank all staff working that day enough and all kept checking on us sadly we had to be tied home but car got fixed next day so divided to away am done way home kids wanted to stop of at truck stop again as they relay enjoyed there egg on toast we defo be returning in future

My car broke down by the huge truck car park. My 7 year old son was desperate for the bathroom. So while waiting for RAC to arrive I asked for toilets at certain cafe but they refused as I wasn't a customer and that's totally understandable but when I got to this shop. I receive such amazing treatment and I was allowed to access the toilets even without being a customer. I decided to buy something anyway. Thank you so much, your kindness went a very long way! The best Truck stop there is always freshly done and good quality, very nice friendly staff I love visiting for my lunch on my motorbike always made to feel very wellcome very very good value Brilliant all round every time

It was a nice day so decided to go out on the motorbike. I visited this place and ordered the all day breakfast. Just under 9 quid Inc tea and a piece of toast. Bit pricey but very nice food. It was very nicely presented on the plate too. I would definitely use this place again.

Called in for Breakfast on my way to work Bank Holiday Monday, the cost has risen from £6.50 to £7.50 and now £8.95. I appreciate costs have risen but for £8.95 I would expect a better Breakfast than what's served the sausages are cheap quality like you would get from a cash and carry. Staff are friendly but Sorry buts its a NO from me in the future.

My son took me and my grandson for breakfast as a treat,the staff were so polite and friendly food come very quick and was hot and cooked perfectly ,the portion size of a all day breakfast was very generous and piping hot,will definitely be returning very soon

Great breakfast, lots of choice! Everything was cooked really well, only gave 4 stars because the sausages weren’t great. Staff were friendly and both the restaurant & toilets were clean. We would definitely return.

The A41 is short on decent places to stop and enjoy breakfast unless you fancy that Scottish restaurant or something that Costalot. On our recent trip to Chester I persuaded the other half that one of the places on the truck stop complex just South of Whitchurch would be OK. There are three to choose from, we went for the Midway, right in the middle and glad we did. The menu is wide and varied and can even accommodate vegetarian truckers (although I’ve never met one). The standard all day breakfast was our choice, coming with a drink and toast. When it arrived I have to say it was one of the best looking breakfasts we have enjoyed for quite a while. The bacon was more like gammon, the egg fried nicely and still soft, the sausages OK but were arguably the lowlight (tasted like a low meat content), the hash brown tasty and the fried bread to mop up the beans topped it off. There were a mix of truckers, bikers, people on leisure trips like us and I think some locals. The staff were polite and friendly, the place was clean and tidy and the toilets very well looked after. You can’t really ask for more. Excellent breakfast - well done the Midway.

Friendly staff Good selection of food. I recomend the Staffordshire Oatcake breakfast! Proper old school surroundings and staff ditto, Toilets and plenty of free papers to choose from! Been using this in my coach for more years than I care to remember!

Stopped here out on the bike on Sunday after always being a regular to the other cafe up the road for years. Great food nice chat with a bloke behind the till well priced very clean will be the place I go from now on

It’s a transport cafe but if you want a proper breakfast or lunch then look no further, no frills but good portions of home cooked food. Always busy and well populated. Never tried the desperate Dan breakfast but love the Staffordshire oatcakes

Called in once again to this great Cafe. Ordered two all day breakfasts and within 7 minutes , it was put on the table for us. Smoking hot and delicious. Cannot say anymore than that.

The breakfast here is spot on, massive selection and there's also other cafe favourites but I've always come for the Special Breakfast. Great local greasy spoon and staff super friendly.

The food here is amazing and the couple running the place very accommodating and very helpful, would recommend this truckers cafe/takeaway to everyone, couldn't find a more lovelier couple

Stopped for a quick bite to eat whilst passing, ordered to take away and to be fair it didn't take long to come. Things went downhill from there. Bread for the sandwich had seen better days, probably last Thursday by how dry and stale it...

Great atmosphere, great food and perfect meeting point for bikers of all ages, plenty of bikes to use a look at too.

Good grub, friendly staff and plenty of space. We always stop here for a breakfast on the way to wales. Toilets are kept clean and seating available outside too.

We use this cafe frequently as a half way point when meeting friends who live in Shropshire; we live in Cheshire. The food is not fancy but always good, home made and the price spot on. The staff are friendly. There is a good choice...

Once again, my Son in Law and myself, called into The Midway Truck Stop for breakfast, on the way to Bangor Races. We both had the Full English. Served, I might add with in 7 to 10 minutes. It lived up to its expectations once...

We stop here regularly on our way from Coventry to New Brighton. Food is always good,hot and served quickly once ordered. With a couple of great tea/coffee it makes for a great mid journey stop. Keep up the good work.

We always stop here when traveling from the midlands to north Wales or Merseyside. The service has never, ever been less than 100%. I find it very difficult and disturbing to read the negative reviews of this establishment. Superb food and great staff. Okay, they can be a bit short sometimes, but usually that’s when they are busy. Looking forward to seeing you again. Thanks.

We visit often on Thursday evenings during Summer when the truck park hosts its regular Bikers meet. It's totally unorganized but works well with hundreds of bikes turning up. The meeting actually centres on Lynn's Raven Cafe (a good place in its own right) but Midway Truck Stop next door does a really good job taking the overflow. Midway put on a great outdoor BBQ on Thursday Biker Night and the food inside the cafe is ace with much of it home made.

great value,great food, good size "full" breakfast ,freshly cook and a mug of tea or coffee for just over £6. can get busy, very clean toilets and easy parking

As we were late going home we decided to try dinner in the Midway. The food was good and came fairly quick. The place wasn`t a palace and the price was dear we thought. Would probably carry on to Mc Donalds next time

Used this place for years on our way to Liverpool - Good all day breakfast well cooked and served quite quickly - clean and tidy with friendly staff.

Family been going here for 60 years plus! But today I did just pop in to use the toilet but got chased as I left and was rudely told I could of bought a cup of tea. The man was very rude about it. He claimed they have to pay for the toilets to be cleaned but didn't even look like they had been cleaned. Family and I won't be coming here again!

Great place, great food, friendly staff and customers and superb value. I had the all day breakfast but there is vast choice and you can pick and mix so there is definitely something for everybody.

Always friendly staff, the food is always lovely, cooked properly and hot. Never have to wait long either, no matter if they're really busy. Our favourite pitstop

We love to stop at this place as it is good honest food with reasonable honest rates. There is a good range of food available depending on what you want . The staff are friendly & the food is cooked freshly . It always seems to be busy but the food is served quickly. I have to say the place is "basic" but clean & well equipped a large open plan room. They have toliet facilities along with a shower as there is often a lot of lorry drivers stop there.

We stopped here on our way to Hawkstone Park Follies, on the recommendation of our neighbour. Brilliant breakfast - we had two All Day Breakfast, the kids had a sausage sandwich and a chip butty. The lovely lady who served us said basically the kids can what they want and they’d cook it. The long walk afterwards was definitely needed - I messaged my friend to say we were there and he said ‘Not going lie, I'm so jealous right now I'd literally walk there for that breakfast’........enough said

Stopped here on our way from Chester to Devon. Fantastic All Day Breakfast for £5.95. Food was cooked perfectly with good quality ingredients. Staff were friendly and efficient. Proper tea from a pot, not tea bags, excellent! Restaurant is clean and well laid out. Can't say enough about this place. Best cooked breakfast I have had in a long time.

Long time since we were here before. We both had a full breakfast and ice cream and apple for afters. The breakfast was the best I have ever had. W e were only sat down for about 6 minutes or more before the meals came out. The Staff were very courterous and Frienly. Could not fault it at all. Would reccomend it to one and all.

The vegetarian breakfast is the best I’ve had, they happily swap things in and out, great mug of tea, don’t be put off by the trucker look, very friendly and welcoming all served with smiles

Visited this cafe while travelling for work, excellent choice and great breakfast, they even stock Monster Ultra drinks, great energy boost with my gorgeous breakfast . This is fair priced cafe offering quality food would recommend if any one is passing !!

I have been coming here for 40 years+ but not again.The young girl serving did not say please or thank you when taking my order . Prices have incresed and food quailty decreased.

Thought I’d give this place another chance as I’ve been coming here for the last 6 years, the dinner portions have gone so much smaller,but the food was actually hot for once. I don’t agree with how they treat their staff, they look down at them all. I was served by a lad in his early 20’s with scruffy looking hair, not the first thing you want to see when you walk through the door.

Phil has left and so has the reputation! The midway was once the place to go for good food and a great value for money. Bring Phil back!!!!!!

We had homemade chicken pie that was delicious. Excellent value for the price of £13 for two with a drink.

What a fab place to stop- much better than boring service stations. Menu here was plentiful as were are meals. Great cheese on toast, massive chip butties- great real mug of tea and lovely staff and prices really low but quality high. Cant wait to come again!

The clue is in the name and exactly what you'd expect with fast service and good hot food served in large portions. Breakfast was really good

Lovely and friendly. All day breakfast is so good and brilliant value at £5.75 which includes tea or coffee and toast. Loved it .

As transport cafes go this is one of the best. Good simple food. Friendly staff. Excellent cup of tea. Has all the facilities needed for a lorry driver after a day on the road. I will go out of my way to use this cafe when ever I can! Five stars *****

Been going many years this place i always stay overnight in my truck if I am delivering in the area good food and service not sure about washing facilities as I often wash before I park up pub next door if still open but worth a vist if you are in the UK

Unbelievable portions, great food, great service. Definitely an "insiders" place to have a full English breakfast on the cheap.

Stopped here on our way to the midland Gamefair. We stop here every year & are never disappointed in the breakfast. This is a no frills truck stop that has its emphasis on the food. Fabulously clean toilets.

Stopped here with family on way to holiday. Service was quick, food was luke warm and we found hairs in with the breakfast. Large spider on wall watching every move. Looking like he wanted to come and sit down beside us.Visited here a few times, it used to be the best around, not anymore. Needs a facelift and a look at hygiene issues. Will be using the raven next door in future. More heat required for the food.

Have been the midway a long time ago and had excellent breakfast.So decided to give it another try.We ordered the special breakfast ...When it arrived it is sizeable... but some things on the plate let it down. The mushrooms looked like half tinned half fresh.The bubble and squeak looked like microwaved mush and lookwarm ...It didnt have the taste and texture of cooked in a frying pan to add to it.I do go to lynns cafe next door a lot and will be going back there as the food is much better...and you can see it being cooked.Oh another point. Our table was towards the main entrance with both doors wide open.. so the flies were a problem when eating ...The midway always had a good name. It didnt live up to it on this occasion ..sorry !

I go here with friends regularly! We usually get the special breakfast, which is very tasty, and very filling... And only costs £7.40!! Service us always very good too, only usually takes about 10-15 mins before your food is infront of you! Excellent value, Excellent food! A+

This stop for refreshments is a bit rough and a bit noisy but the food and drink were excellent. It is after all a Transport Cafe but none the worse for that.

Have visited many times & never been disappointed. It offers good plain honest food which is of good quality in fact we nearly always have their omelette. Often it can be " "greasy " & can take ages at some places but this is not the case at the MIDWAY. The staff are pleasant friendly & the atmosphere is relaxed.The mug of tea is exceptional really good taste.

And good value.We first visited the Midway donkey's years ago and to be honest it doesn't look much different inside now...a real blast from the past.There was a good mix of families, people out for a Sunday roast and friendly bikers all enjoying the food.Would definitely return.

Went for the special breakfast (see picture for what's served up) and wow I wasn't disappointed and a great start to the day.The Midway Truck Stop is exactly what it says it is, so don't expect table clothes, flowers and nice trimmings as it is a truck stop.Do though expect friendly staff, efficient service and well portioned meals and a great mug of tea.Free wifi as well to keep you occupied whilst waiting for your meal.Well worth stopping off at.

I have frequented this establishment since the early 1970's and have always found it a great place to eat, great breakfasts at very reasonable prices. Would recommend the all day breakfast. We travel this way from Skipton to Stratford upon Avon to avoid the M6 whacky races. It takes about 1.5 hrs longer but a more scenic route with less stress and lots of places to stop en route. Avoid the motorway service station food and come here instead!!

First visit here, a great little cafe, good food and drivers amenities, free showers when you have a meal etc. Would definitely return here.

Found Midway Truck Stop after staying the night in nearby Wem. Absolutely packed, but with good reason. The food was first class, excellent value and the service was very good and so quick that a table could soon be found. Don't be put off by all the bikers - it's a friendly place and highly recommended by this middle aged couple!

have stopped here a few times don't expect super gordon ramsey style offerings this is a good honest truckstop good quality sandwiches or lunches at a good low costdon't be looking for high end surroundings either does the job its designed for somewhere to stop eat use the loo and continue your journey

This used to such a reliable and useful facility just south of Whitchurch and handy for a top up so as to leave time free at journey's end to complete a day's work and not think about cooking - but no longer! It appears that the Olde English curse of catering establishments closing for lunch has struck and if you should dare to want food after two thirty in the afternoon then you will be out of luck! Well unfortunately for them there are other venues capable of serving the inner man, and whilst their food, when open, is a great filler, I won't be stopping anymore as if they choose not to open for a full day I will not be stopping any day!

Called in as had finished a night shift and was craving a bacon sandwich! The choice was great and they cater for everyone. The price was reasonable, this definitely has the feel of a greasy truck stop cafe and didn't really feel or look very clean nevertheless I have eaten some amazing food in some real hell holes so it didn't put me off. I had a bacon, sausage and egg sandwich and was very disappointed, the sauce was not Heinz and tasted cheap and nasty, the sausage was flavourless and very greasy, the bread was thin but felt and tasted fresh, I didn't even taste the egg but this is usual for me as iv got used to duck eggs so chicken eggs don't really cut it for me anymore and the bacon well I was disappointed there were only 2 small rashers on my sandwich it really didn't cute my craving!

Totally yummy properly cooked decent food. Something for everyone.Easy access,friendly staff, clean and cleared tables. Happy alround and have been for many years.

The Midway caters for everyone whether there truckers bkers holiday makers or local people you get great food at a reasonable price,the all day breakfast is very popular and there is a healthy option as an alternaive.good roast dinners as well and a great cup of tea,something for everyone.
