Middle Feast in York

ive walked past this place many times and its always smelled so good, i really could not resist it today and finally went in. real seasoned cooked meat, tastes homemade, absolutely amazing, they even ask if youd like your chips inside the wrap, real cutting edge stuff.

Everytime I go there the staff are so friendly and accommodating literally every single one of them, I make sure to come here everytime I’m in York. The chicken shawarma is the best I’ve ever had and the chips are top tier

I was delighted to tell me wife I had a “salad box”. This was in fact a kebab, so I wasn’t lying! Nice food and friendly staff.

I had chicken shawarma from this shop, it was worst. I became sick, I had stomach ache. Please be careful.

Best chips we've ever had along with great lamb and chicken shawarma and vine leaves. Delicious, quick, and friendly service. Would definitely recommend.

The food here is amazing, recommend the halloumi wrap 100%! Service is great too, the people here are so friendly and there’s a great atmosphere in the restaurant, recommend the mixed meat with yoghurt and mint sauce too. Will definitely be returning to York just to come back here 🤩

I ordered the Mezze and dined in on my own while on a quick lunch break. Friendly staff and the waitress was very polite. The Mezze didn't specify if the Lamb was Shawarma or skewered chunks of meat. It was Shawarma so that was a little disappointing but that's just my personal preference. As far as Shawarma goes, it was still tasty. I'd recommend that they update the menu to specify that it is "lamb or chicken shawarma" as part of the Mezze.

Food very good. The place is small and quite cramped, but a quick meal was enough for me.

Wow, maybe be a bit expensive at ten quid for a large kebab but jesus wept it was good. Perfect for a wander back to the station. Lamb to die for, garlic chilli and tahini for the win. Can't wait for the next one.

Just what we needed. After a few expensive fancy restaurants in York we were craving some good value middle eastern food, which Middle Feast provided (also what a great pun!). Tasty food and a nice environment to eat in.

A fantastic place for lunch or dinner. The best food we had in York. Big serves, reasonable prices, friendly service and so much flavour. The falafel wrap and seasoned hot chips were really tasty. Great options for vegans and very easy to find. Very highly recommended - we loved it so much, we went back for more!

I came to this restaurant. We came all the way from Sussex so the chef gave us a free mezze platter. I was shocked how nice the chef was. I got my shawarma. It was a nice shawarma but it was too saucy and spicy. It also became messy. The complementary for us mezze platter was so delicious and the garlic sauce was so nice I would recommend this with the lamb kofte

As a Lebanese I am confident when I say, this is great Lebanese food! Reminds me of the late nights roaming around Beirut with a good shawarma in hand. I think I found my new favorite spot. Highly recommend visiting this gem!!!

Been here a couple of times. Ordered on uber eats and it’s been amazing food. Perfect chips and perfect shawarma, exactly what I wanted, beautiful flavours and great texture. 5* and the best Middle Eastern style food in York.

I have mixed feelings about this place. The menu prices were a bit misleading, and I found it surprising to be charged £1 extra just for a small tub of sauce. However, I can’t deny that the food itself was amazing! The shawarma was incredibly fresh and packed with flavor—definitely one of the best I’ve ever had. If you’re willing to overlook the pricing quirks, the taste alone makes it worth a visit!

Came for York Restaurant week and they fed me a meal so massive it would easily feed two people. £10. Legends.

Went here on Saturday. Staff very nice and helpful..Can tell it’s a happy place to work and manager was friendly. Lovely food! Was had the chicken and halloumi shawarma, falafel and hummus and mixed shawarma… all very tasty and definitely good value! Recommend.

Wow. Went in on the off chance for lunch and definitely had a feast. We ordered a starter, which was lovely, then we ordered a tagine each. When it arrived, luckily, it didn't look too big. What we hadn't realised was that the tagine only had the meat in it. They then brought more plates, one with warm flatbreads, one with rice and a large wooden platter with houmous, salads, a raita and stuffed vine leaves. It was phenomenal. Everything was well cooked flavoursome but sooo much of it. One would have been enough for the two of us. As it happened, they were very happy to put the leftovers in a couple of containers for us and we were able to enjoy the meal for a second time the next day at home. Authentic flavours and very pleasant staff. The place is small but don't be put off going, there's more space for eating than you might imagine. Much more than a 'hole in the wall' kiosk. I thoroughly recommend it but beware the portion sizes!

The Halloumi wrap was lovely but dry without Sweet Chilli Sauce and the chips were inedible unfortunately…overcooked and hard.

Very disappointed after reading good reviews. Totally overpriced for what we received. Ordered the mixed grill at nearly £20 which was 3 pieces of chicken, 3 pieces of lamb, 1 kebab and lots of rice. £3.50 for a tiny pot of hummus and some very sad salad. Also had the halloumi wrap with a side order of chips and the chips came stuffed inside the wrap which was not what I was expecting. So unfortunately will not be ordering again ☹️

An amazing spot for authentic Middle Eastern cuisine in York! The food tasted super fresh and the interior decor was stunning! The friendly staff were great, I would 100% recommend visiting if you are in York!

Don’t waste your money guys , we been to yours a few weeks back and ordered from them in our hotel , you feel vomit as you see the food , chicken wings with the feathers on , dry and hard kebab , £6 hummus in a small sauce plastic dip which you usually get with chip or a small pizza , rubbish salad , we complained and they said we will send again , again repeated food literally, and they sent a ,,gift” lol and it was a rotten piece of baklava, which was there may be from weeks and smelling oil I mean very old cooking oil smell and hard as brick. this in not a grill food takeaway at all it’s a fake place with fake reviews, I’ve all the pictures of the food and can post them ,

If you like gristle, then this is the place for you. Such a shame as I’ve been coming here for a number of years each time I visit York, it used to be lovely, but upon visiting today every other bite I had was just lamb gristle, I won’t be rushing back anytime soon

First Time here and in york..ordered a mix shawama with chips salad. Mrs ordered they chicken shawama. Lamb shawama I always find abit salty and not as nice as the chicken. But that's my own preference. Abit small inside for space but food was nice. Decent portion. The owners are really nice and get you seated straight away. Prices for the area and for what you get I really can't complain.

What a fantastic little place right in the heart of York. Not just a takeaway but table service which we had. Absolutely lush with wine and reasonable prices. Proper good find :D

I’ve ordered food from here previously and expect Luke warm but it was freezing cold. The jalapeño starter was clap cold and the wrap was colder. Always tasty but this was very disappointing

This is not real shawarma!! It’s not tasty at all, it feels like eating old salads.

Decided to try here after walking past it for so long. So many varieties of meats cooked on spits this was really nice staff were extremely friendly wait times can vary as it does get busy haven't yet ordered for delivery but probably will in the future.

Popped in for a Saturday lunchtime wrap.. Being a veggie, there was plenty in the way of falafel & halloumi combos.. the wrap was delicious. We thought we may have needed some chips between us, but no need as the wraps were very filling.. 😋

Pricing doesn’t make sense. « All specials come with chips or rice » So you go to order special number one, mention chips. Then pick up order and they say, oh sorry except special number one, THAT one doesn’t come with chips or rice. Thus waiting longer or leaving with an incomplete order. Also food often cold. AVOID

Did I need a kebab? No. But the smell just pulled me in. Wow. So many options. I went for the lamb Kebab and it transformed me back to my youth…what a superb feed. I would eat that again and again. Gowan…get in!!!!

We were very hungry and pitched up at this place, not exactly welcoming but hey it's fast food. You can eat in which is a bonus however our shawarma lamb wraps took a long while to arrive. When they did the ' so called salad ' was a joke and bore scant resemblance to the description. There was a tiny few bits of pickles ( the best thing on the plate) and when I asked the very pleasant helpful English waiter for just a couple more pieces ( between me and G/F ) after we'd finished a plate with a pile of olives and arrived. " Are you joking bruv ? " Send it back too much too late....best not say more for fear of causing offence. This morning I was not too well. G/friend ok and no complaint bless her.

Me and my partner ordered takeaway food on 03/08/2024. My order, Lamb Shawarma Wrap, arrived with a mint sauce (which I dislike completely) instead of garlic mayo I selected and with no chips even though I ordered chips. The lamb was very chewy and with a lot of cartilage. I could not eat my food as it was not edible to me, food went to waste. The order also arrived cold but that may be due to the delivery company.

don’t know where to start TBH… shocking from start to finish! how they can justify charging £9 for a hamster meal beggars belief! if you’re on a VERY strict diet… you’ll be OK :(

I was recommended by a friend to try the huge wrap as they said it was amazing, to our disappointment it was extremely dry the lamb was full of fat and the chicken was very dry no sauce added in the wrap , the only best bit was the driver who delivered it he was a very happy chap and very chatty too . £30 The bin sorry 😞.

Ordered for collection, asked if my order was all there…. One item was wrong and another was missing. Reported to JustEat but they have refused to do anything.

The white lady at the cashier was handling food without any gloves on! This is a big no no. She was simply not bothered about it until I pointed it out and asked her why she’s touching food without any gloves on. At that point she had an entire toasted bread in her bare hands that she was wrapping in a paper bag to give me. She threw it away and asked one of her colleagues to give me a new one. This is the kind of stuff that gets eateries heavily fined or even permanently closed

XL shawarma was huge! Reasonable prices , great service and really good food.

Delivery was good. Food was average. Had better from there before. Hardly any salad in the wrap and kept finding gristle

The order was left on doorstep and nobody phoned me. It was missing 3 chips, all the sauces, cheesy Brie bites and a coke. That comes to 17.50. I would like a refund please
