Micky's Fish and Chips in City of London, Westminster

I’ve been coming to this takeaway now and then and usually go for the medium fish box, which has been decent in the past. However, on my latest visit, a few things left me disappointed. Firstly, there’s no pricing on the board, which makes it hard to know what you’re actually paying. I’m quite sure the price has gone up since my last visit a month or two ago, and without transparency, it’s difficult to know if you’re getting fair value. The service was a bit confusing this time too. The lady serving didn’t speak much English and misunderstood what I was asking—she thought I wanted to buy the box for £1, which was a bit awkward. The biggest letdown, though, was the portion size. When I got home, I noticed the chips were far fewer than usual, which is disappointing considering the likely price increase. It’s always a shame when places start cutting corners like this. Still hoping this was just an off day, but experiences like this do make you think twice about returning.

If I could rate this place 10 stars I would absolutely amazing value for the amount of food, and the kindest staff ever, sitting in or take out everything about this place is wonderful

Close to our hotel, we were looking for a typical London fish and chip shop and, on the advice of Google reviews, we discovered Micky Fish and Chips. It is one of the three best addresses in the neighborhood according to some — and we were not disappointed. It's more of a snack bar than a restaurant, but the place is clean, quiet, and the service is fast. The portions are generous, the fish is crispy, the fries are simple, and the prices are very reasonable. A great option for a simple meal in a quiet neighborhood.

Fish was great. Chips were average. All water costs money, not used to this as an American - ice water is always free. Decent priced relative to everything being crazy priced in London

Super fast and very reasonable quality and price, to live the typical Fish and Chips experience quite valid.

Visiting London for a few days as a birthday treat and seeing as we'd had pizza, tapas, etc. I just fancied some good old fish n chips. Micky's was nearest and on checking out the prices we ordered. Our food arrived, and I was impressed by the size of the fish and the amount of chips. Busy atmosphere, full of all nationalities. Recommended if you want a value for money, tasty meal.

This is my favorite fish/chips spot. The lady that works there is sooooooo kind and customer service oriented. I stay in the area (on occasion) for work and never miss an early dinner there. A local fish and chip shop. What's not to like? The service was instantaneous by a very annoyed woman. We realized it was fast because everything was precooked and resting under lights in great piles. The chips were undercooked and soggy and the fish was tasteless. I did get an excellent can of Coke and a straw after I asked.

Don't expect a place with any luxury, but you will like the food. We ordered the medium dishes and there is a large quantity. The potatoes are natural, not frozen and the fish is not greasy at all, good, very good. We tried the fish & chips and calamari & chips and shrimp & chips, and we all liked it a lot. The price is reasonable for the amount they serve you. Place to sign up 😉

takeaway service is atrocious, the woman was borderline mean, it definitely seemed like she was in such a hurry even though there were only 2 other people in the restaurant and they were both already eating. she rolled her eyes when we asked for the correct drinks we ordered, and when we thanked her she just said BYE. food was fine, you can definitely get better and worse fish&chips in London but the service spoiled our whole meal.

This fish and chips was absolutely delicious! Fresh, crispy fish with a perfectly cooked batter and delicious fries. 🐟🍟 In addition, lemon, which beautifully emphasized the taste. The service was kind and helpful, overall a very pleasant atmosphere. The food was served quickly and at the perfect temperature. Definitely recommend and would love to come back! 😊

Excellent classic fish & chips. Had a small haddock. Fish was fresh. Batter was 8/10. Could be crispier. Not sure if they are still beer-battered considering they are now run by a team of middle-eastern guys. The old man was rigid and grumpy. Initially ordered the meal that came with a drink. Wanted to change the drink to a hot chocolate and i would pay for that, but the old man wouldn't allow it. Ended up ordering just ala-carte instead.

Really good! I stopped by chance for an early dinner. Ordered the small fish and chips with a soft drink which was very generous and a big portion especially the chips. Fish was perfect. I had a soft drink with it. Very reasonably priced. Clean. Cheap and cheerful. There are limited tables if you dine in. Busy. Staff are friendly and pleasant. Good service. Highly recommend.

Visited because of the good reviews. It's just delicious. It would have been better if there was some tartar sauce.

I wanted to eat fish and chips, so I searched around the hotel and found it. The chips were creamy and very delicious. The fish was not too oily and had a satisfying taste. Even if you order small, the quantity is large. I wish they would let me put the vinegar and salt on myself. The shop was crowded with locals.

This was the food I expected. Just fish & chips - fried fish and chips. Large portions. Dishes served after a few minutes. Helpful service. Room for 30-40 people. All tables occupied. Without any special decoration. Just 4 walls and tables. No bathroom. Eat and leave, but definitely worth coming back because the food is good.

I arrived and it was packed, only a table of 4, i took it and then someone moved from a table of 1, a group of people came over, so I offered my table and moved to the solo one, the waiter saw that and he attend me very gently, within 5 min my order was served !!!! 💓 I loved the haddock & fish, huge portion, and the extras i added, the peas! and curry sauce.

The shop was fantastic as always and it is my favourite place to order fish and chips. Unfortunately the deliverer never appeared despite the order showing as delivered! However this is no reflection on the restaurant. I will just order from Uber.

We went to dinner and it's not a big deal either, a battered fish fillet and some potatoes... The portion is big... Bring clothes that you have to wash because the fried smell you leave there with is terrible.

We ordered cod and chips and a burger and chips. I must say it was terrible. The cod was dry and had more batter than cod. It tasted old like it had been reheated. The burger tasted dry as well and the chips were hard and the Crispy bits tasted like rubber, that reflected being kept warm or reheated before sold. Over all this has happened a couple of times when ordering from this chip shop. This is a clear sign for us that we need to find a new chip shop that takes more pride in the food it sells to customers. And when making up an order if the food is kept warm for too long don't sell it to a customer otherwise you will continue to disappoint.........

£19.40 for 2 people: 2 fish and chips (one small and one medium with drinks included) The portions are generous so the small is enough. We took takeaway, we were served directly with the fish already made on the counter. The fries are not very crispy Slightly detached staff

As a regular customer here it’s quite disappointing, that every time I’m served by the short older woman with the black hair; I’m met with an air of disdain and disgust from her. Having come in for my Xmas Eve lunch - I was next in line to order. She looked beyond me to the next customer and said “he is here to PAY” - implying that I wasn’t. The kind gentleman insisted that I go ahead- and my order was taken but in the bluntest and rudest way. My food was shoved in a bag and she tapped at the card reader really hard and demanded that I paid. I had by that point told her I was paying in Cash. She was very dramatic about making sure I placed the money in her hand before handing me my food. This isn’t a wild action in and of itself -however I’ve noticed she only did that with me and those that looked LIKE me. I’m so disappointed.

I loved this place, the service was amazing and the wait time for my food was extremely fast. The cost and quality of the food was fabulous as well. Since it’s the Christmas time, the Christmas songs weren’t missing which added to the 5 star atmosphere. I recommend it!

Food was lovely but delivery estimate got later and later ‘til it was over an hour from first estimate. Good customer care would suggest that an explanation along the way would have been well received.

Real London tastes, better than any other fried fish restaurants I have ever visited in the US. My daughter ate all her fish during our first visit and ate all her calamari in our second visit. We will come again if we travel to London in the future.

A great chippy. No need to go to the pub next door, come and get traditional fish and chips, good portion size and great guys running through shop. Eat in, 9 tables seating 4 people at each and 3 tables for couples. Great choice of food, recommend the haddock.

⚠️ This venue has no restrooms! ⚠️ Customers are advised to use the restrooms at the pub next door. Decent chips, especially if you are on a low-sodium diet. Unfortunately I polluted some of them with the provided "vinegar". According to the worn label on the bottle, the offensive liquid was a "non-brewed condiment" consisting of water, acetic acid, caramel colour and salt. The anonymous ketchup was slightly better. The fish was crispy, but could have benefitted from having its scales removed prior to breading. The butter toast was made with margarine. Unfortunately most soft drinks contained artificial sweeteners, but that seems to be a UK issue, for which this venue is not to blame. They did have cans of Polish coca cola, which only contained real sugar.

Absolutely out of this world! Micky’s serves fish and chips the way they’re meant to be—crispy, golden, and utterly delicious. The fish was perfectly fresh, with a light, flaky texture inside and the batter was just the right level of crunch without being greasy. The chips were thick, fluffy, and cooked to perfection. The portions were generous, and everything was piping hot and served with a smile. You can tell they take pride in their food, and it really shows in every bite. This is what proper fish and chips should taste like. Highly recommend! Will definitely be back.
