It is very hit and miss with the service and quality of the food. Vegetables served as most of us were finishing off our steak pie and mash!! A couple of bar staff were very cheerful and seemed happy in their workplace a couple were miserable as sin. The venue is pleasant enough but you are paying top dollar for food and drink, but that's SJW and even more so Lord's.

Called into Lunch on Tuesday , have to say met the rudest most unpleasant manager out there , think he is missing the point on customer relations big time , went to order Lunch , was told I could not sit where I had settled with my book and phone , had to move table despite people eating on the next door table , the menu was then snatched away from me , yes snatched , ( I was flabbergasted )and was advised there's a thirty minute wait for food ,recovered the menu , and then ordered, while the gentleman ( a phrase I use loosely )..waved the contactless machine around , it was a farce actually getting him to stop waving it around for me to pay , ok your having a bad day , but really....... the rest of the staff delightful , my Burger ok nothing special , My Merlot good slightly over priced , will I return maybe ...maybe not no excuse for being so rude ............end of

Really poor care - our pre-booked table was given away whilst we were there. They did find an alternative table, but it was not as good. The order was not taken correctly and there was a delay providing the meal. Given its name and position, we hoped for something more, and really we would have preferred not eating there at all and going off to find a better environment in a better place. Could do so much better.

Came here during the lunch break next door at Lords. Firstly, the service was very good. The waitress was very attentive and prompt with everything. However, the place feels a bit tired as does the food. The quality felt like it could have been better especially given how expensive it was. I would not recommend coming here as you really do not get value for money. I had a prawn cocktail to start and a Caesar salad to follow. My fellow diners had a burger, fish and chips and a chicken curry. All of it just seemed over priced for the quality they were offering. My fellow diner said he had been here often when coming to the cricket and said disappointingly the standards here seem to have completely dropped off over recent times.

While enjoying the afternoon lunch, it was marred by the poor service my friend and received, which had not been the case a fortnight previously when I had last attended. This can be put down to the inexperience or training of the staff. The food was excellent but the time wait between finishing off our meal and receiving a dessert menu, and then obtaining an order for dessert and then subsequently for the Bill was unacceptable. This was not due to over crowding but down to the waiting staff, who after clearing the min course debris, never looked over to our table (as I was continuously trying to gain their eye) or checked on us. This led me having to go up to the staff on 3 occasions, who were chatting amongst themselves in the doorway of the kitchen. It was a shame that I found it necessary to get up to find them i) for the Dessert menu, ii) to provide an order and iii) to subsequently obtain the bill and make payment. I did still pay the discretionary service charge, but I may not be so generous next time. I would further add that when I asked one of the waiting staff if ice cream was served with the Lemon Posset she said it doesn’t but didn’t explain how it was served. I thought it would come out in a desert bowl so asked for a blob of ice cream. On its arrival I established that the dessert was served in a glass bowl, and thus the ice cream was not really needed. However, I received a full dessert bowl of ice cream, which was a separate dessert and thus I ended up paying for 2 desserts just for myself. This could and should have been avoided if I was correctly advised how the initial desert was served in the first place.

Booked here after our guided tour around the Cricket ground. Made to feel very welcome by staff, service with a smile. We both had the lamb, food was delicious, the only thing I would suggest is you ask for your gravy to be served separately, I wasn’t keen on the amount of gravy on my plate and didn’t like to ask for some of it to be removed as the staff were so nice. Overall highly enjoyable.

Ate here after a tour of Lord’s. Despite its history, the pub is a modern and not very atmospheric space, with TVs showing sports channels. The menu is mostly what you’d expect in a pub, but with a couple of interesting twists like mutton curry - which my husband enjoyed - but overall to me it wasn’t awfully inspiring. My fish cakes were tasty enough, but lacked any discernible texture, and didn’t come with the “triple cooked chips” I had ordered until we chased. Similarly, my starter was nice but not special, and came missing the extra of feta cheese that I had asked for. Service was very friendly and prompt, but not really tested as the place was almost empty. It’s a decent, convenient and reasonably priced stop-off if you’re going to Lord’s, but don’t expect a “destination restaurant”!

We chose the Lord's Tavern because there was nowhere else available. The beer choice was good, but the beer itself was only average, it tasted alright, but I did not think it was in perfect condition and the taste was very slightly wrong as far as I could judge. They would not cook the beef burger that my companion ordered anything else but ‘well done’. It was certainly that and to be honest it tasted very pedestrian it was not really very pleasant and I doubt its quality. At least the chips were good and crispy. The chicken I had again was cooked into submission and not very tasty, just about possible, but certainly not very exciting. I should take a moment to commend the service as the gentleman with blue hair who waited on us was neither attentive, nor would I say particularly welcoming; however, the fact that he wished to share with us the fact that he had a good beer belly and the T-shirt he wore, which had seen better days, coming nowhere near his jeans, cooperated in the endeavor. It was not a particularly aesthetically pleasing sight, but one that established a degree of uniqueness which was only matched by the fairly poor quality and tasted the food. I could neither really recommend this except in emergencies and certainly do not feel that an early return is a likelihood.

I’m not one to write a bad review based on one bad experience but this is my exception. We had a wonderful tour of the cricket ground and decided to finish off the experience with a drink and lunch at the tavern. It was not busy at all. We ordered a drink from the bar then order our two mains for lunch. Time was not an issue as we are on holiday and the Lords experience was very positive. We ordered wine to compliment our lunch and that’s when it all went pear shape. My husband’s meal arrived then the waiter went to get his cutlery but when he didn’t bring me any cutlery I thought there might be a problem as why wouldn’t he bring cutlery for both meals, even if one was still to be delivered? This waiter had taken the order for both mains. I urged my husband to start before his meal got cold then eventually my husband went to the female bar attendant to query the lost meal. She left the bar to seek an answer. Our waiter came over eventually and tried to blame computer problems, but the restaurant was not crowded and he took the order for two meals so why wouldn’t he query the absence of one meal? I have to say the female bar attendant was the only one to show any concern. Our waiter was “lost in space” , the two supervisors? useless with one spending more time sitting down. Finally I noticed a person who I thought could be the manager, who was concerned about the lack of water bottles available ( none offered to us or the tables around us). He was removing dirty plates and showing some interesting in the customers by engaging with them. Something neither of the “lanyard “ people did. My husband spoke to him, cancelled my order, and did receive an apology and his meal was free. We were not after a free meal just a lunch to highlight our Lords experience. As previously stated it was not busy so that can’t be an excuse. The “lanyard” people were lazy, never interacted with customers, never queried if everything was alright and frankly “couldn’t be bothered”. Obviously they don’t know how to work the room. So disappointing.

As we entered the restaurant and informed our reservation we were directed to our table. We actually moved to coffee and along with bread and butter was served. I went there to meet a friend who lives around the corner. It was a really hot day. I came with my dog. I went there before and it wasn't a problem. I was on the terrace as I do understand that some people don't want dogs inside. (Although it is very weird as most place including restaurants allows dogs nowadays). I was very shocked when the waiter refuse to give my dog a ball of tap water. The waiter was useless and told me that they did not allow dogs outside even when I could see two other dogs. It was Sunday the 11th June so it was hot. The two waiters were just starring at me despite me asking two for the menu. I had to ask my friend to bring a ball of water. Is that legal....that attitude is not right in my views, especially as we were outside on the terrace. Who is the manager there ? It wasn't an issue before until today. Is it legal not to autorise water for a dog for a pub?

Ive been going for nearly 20 odd years to Soho Hotel for drinks in the bar or lounge. Generally had great service and they make up any cocktail. Not tonight. Myself and partner sat at an empty table, and were then asked to leave as it was reserved. When I suggested they should have a sign to avoid people settling in, waitress was rude and dismissive. No attempt to help find somewhere else. Shame other places dont link to avios but there are plenty of other choices.

PEOPLE WITH ALLERGIES DO NOT GO HERE. This place poisoned my boyfriend on his 25th birthday. I booked this place as he’s always wanted to go here, on booking the place I notified them of his peanut allergy twice, and on entering the restaurant I reminded them AGAIN, and when we sat down and then again when he ordered. The waiter advised which food to order and we set about the meal. A minute into eating his mouth started to tingle, a few minutes later he had to leave to throw up. We had to immediately leave in order to make sure he’s safe and to take him to the hospital if needed. They denied any wrongdoing and any peanuts and offered no refund. They ruined my partners birthday and literally POISONED HIM. We had to cancel our reservations for drinks and activities after. Regardless of this the food just tasted really salty, and there were only two other couples in the restaurant. The ambience was off because it was so empty, I do NOT recommend.
