Good fish and chips and very nice staff:)

Sunday Roast gave me food poisoning, weird atmosphere, TVs that aren’t turned on, off putting environment. Shameful because the pub is in such a nice location, but I wouldn’t recommend this spot to anyone.

Did not eat food, only had a drink. Very popular pub with only 1 choice of bitter, but nice and polite staff.

I had a couple of pints here. The Duke of Kendal is no different to many other pubs in London, OK if it's close by but not worth diverting to.

Emotional. Often said you never know how good the next pub will be. This pub was better than good

Was a nice quaint little local pub/ restaurant at the back in a nice area…. My food was ok, I had the pan fried salmon that could have been better, but I’ll give it another chance to try more food.

Delicious food and lovely setting. Friendly staff. Food served promptly for our group of 11. Dog friendly and very accommodating to our last minute changes. Good atmosphere and clean toilets! Very reasonably priced for good food, good portion sizes so close to Marble Arch.

A hidden gem. Just had the salmon and my friend the Cumberland sausage. We are Northerners so love our food and would highly recommend this place

It's like pubs used to be. Great atmosphere and good, reasonably priced food.

It was a lovely atmosphere with people and Sunday sing-along. Loved the bartenders they were so kind and friendly, however restaurant staff was unfortunately slow. We were 12 people and for 20 min no one came and asked if we wish to have any drinks or we ready for the food no menus offered to take a look. We had to go and look for someone ( although the place is small) Had to ask 3 times for water for the table. They brought 1x jug for 12 people I had to ask to bring another one. Food arrived had to ask twice for cutleries but over all kind people and that didn’t spoiled that evening. Definitely would come back again. Recommend

Lovely place with friendly staff, good service.

Spontaneously grabbed a quick drink here one sunny evening and saw other tables ordering pizzas that looked really good. The menu only really had a plain tomato and garlic pizza suitable for vegans but we thought we'd try it anyway so went in to double check about the base and the chef came out and said he'd make something bespoke. And it was the best pizza we've had in ages - generous with the veg, not too oily, light and airy base. Many thanks to that chef!

A characteristics Pub, the bear it's really good, the atmosphere relaxed, enjoy a sunny day outside, there are to many table and chair in the sidewalk.

Ordered a pint of London Pride. It was cloudy and off. Took it back and asked for a refund. Bar guy went through the motions of reimbursing card using card reader, but no refund has come through.

For my first time there the staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was top notch, delicious and well presented.

Disappointing. A very long delay serving the food. Poor communication and updates. Extremely poor attitude from the staff when we raised concerns - aggressive and sarcastic. Food was OK when it arrived.

El lugar es muy lindo, la ubicación, espectacular... pero no me gustó demasiado. De todos los pubs a los que fui, fue en el único que me cobraron abusivamente la propina, de lo que me enteré al pedir el ticket que en principio no me quisieron dar. La pizza parecía recalentada, con la base y el queso quemado (raro, dado que los responsables son italianos). Y caro, bastante caro. En fin, no volvería, hay pubs mucho mejores y con personal más atento.

Great little pub food was great and so was the service

Cramped, nice decor, old school piano singsongs one night per week.

Greeted by blank miserable faces , no smiles, no welcome at all. I ordered a Birra Moretti, it looked totally flat and tasted awful. I asked if I could change the drink .. no smiles or apologies.. instead I was presented with a harsh frown and hostility. Then I was ignored for a time by the bar woman who ‘looked’ like she’d been smoking drugs all day. Then I was asked by a gentleman ‘well what’s wrong with it ?’ I told him he needed to taste it, at this point of the staff became agitated. I was told that I was ‘f**king’rude. At this point I felt I needed to get out of the situation so I told them that go forward they need to greet people with a smile and that their beer tastes like s**t. I swiftly left. All factual information for those thinking about entering these premises. However there’s a lovely pub around the corner called The Victoria, I’d highly recommend this one .

Eggs Benedict with a Guinness for a great Sunday Brunch.....

I was concerned about the review regarding the fish and chips but my fears were unfounded. Delicious. The reason I have marked it down is purely because anyone with mobility issues would have a serious problem using the toilets. It is a very old building.

Sunday lunch - although the beef was tender the vegetables consisted of watery small portion of cabbage, 4 tiny cut carrots and watery tasteless gravy with a flat Yorkshire pudding albeit my friends was fine. Beef and Chicken roast plus 2 soft drinks £39. We left hungry and extremely disappointed. The staff are friendly and I will stick to just drinks from now on. My own cooking is so much better!

‘It’s your lucky day guys, we’ve found a table for you!’ - it was not. First off, our table was cancelled with no warning. They claimed they were fully booked so could not seat us, then took us through the empty pub to a table at the back in the dark, much as the devil would lure you to his lair. When asked if we could have a light on they responded with ‘no it’s too expensive’. After perusing the menu they’d clearly overstretched themselves on, we ordered a couple of roasts and brunch items. As we found out later, they were unhappy with this as it was difficult for the kitchen. The food took a long time to come considering we had made it before the rush, and was cold. When asked if it could be heated up the staff looked disgruntled and informed us it would take too long as they were busy. When we said they could just microwave it, they reluctantly agreed. Don’t bother trying to get sauces as you’d have a better chance escaping Alcatraz. At the end of this bizarre and terrible experience, we agreed amongst ourselves to pay for what we got. We had to wait so long for a card machine we decided to go to the bar to pay. The waiter then argued with us as splitting the bill would take him too long and demanded one person had to front the entire cost for us to then send them the 1/5th of the bill each. As a positive the female server was lovely, but the male front of house needs some training in hospitality and how to communicate with other human beings.

Many people here will have fond memories of this pub, especially the period decor friendly staff and, of course, the singing on Sunday evenings. Unfortunately, most of that has gone, due to the terrible management of the current landlord. The old customers have mostly gone away and a new clientele has arrived, who are pretty ghastly. The landlord has also ruined the decor with a refurb that replaced the period features with shiny fittings that would be more in place in an exotic brothel. As for the singing - there used to be 50 or more people every Sunday, many of whom had been coming for nearly 20 years. Now, it's maybe half a dozen, with a few bemused tourists joining in. The only reason to go, that I can see, is to catch up with old friends and see where they have moved on to.

HORRIBLE PUB, THE WORST I EVER BEEN. WAITED 1 HOUR FOR OUR FOOD. When we asked gently where our food was we got answered in a very rude way by one of the barmen. Than when the food arrived it was completely tasteless that we just walked out!

Great London pub..Great character. Staying near by and decided to give it a go. Menu offered Great choice, pizza fish and other usual pub classics. Opted for pizza and Greek salad it was OK.. brought in pizza bases which I felt a bit cheated Greek salad was more like a cucumber salad no olives? And cheap feta. Pricey on the drinks but I guess that's London for you. Would return but probably not to dine.

We visited the pub for a lunch time meal. Arrived at 13.00 and were finally served our food at 14.30!! This was after several requests/reminders. The excuse was that there were staff shortages in the kitchen. People who came in after us were served before us. Admittedly the bill was reduced but it spoiled our lunch experience with our friends.

My boyfriend and I came here for a couple of cocktails before heading out for dinner. Lisa served us and she was brilliant. Really passionate about her work, went above and beyond to serve us off the menu drinks. She was so friendly. Can’t recommend this place enough!!

Moved to Lancaster Gate a few months ago, visited all of the local pubs various times, the Kendal outclasses them all. Gary looks after us so we’ll with unbelievable service and knowledge. Food is always consistently good. Table service as well as a great atmosphere....

Down in London for the week and visited here 2 times in a row. We had there same meal both nights as it was so good. A special mention to Gary for topping up our drinks regularly and brilliant banter and perfect service

Caminamos por Connaught Street en nuestro camino desde Paddington hasta nuestro hotel. Entonces, decidí regresar para tomar unas copas antes de cenar en otro lugar de la ciudad.Encontramos este pub y tomamos una cerveza. Está dirigido por italianos (creo), así que probamos un buen Birra Moretti. ¡Algo diferente, para variar! Tenía algo de comer con los dedos y, en general, fue una buena visita.

Half the place was closed and it took a long time to even find the restroom of this cavernous spot. Not a pleasant atmosphere with screeching drunken women. This won't be my local, for sure!

We went on a cold and very wet Sunday - the place was pretty much dead. Decent enough Sunday roast, and a great Yorkshire pudding for a good price, but as it was so quiet it lacked atmosphere.

Having spent a day trekking round the city we stopped here for a well deserved drink before heading out for dinner. It’s a really welcoming pub with friendly locals. Would have stayed for dinner if we hadn’t already booked somewhere.

Had promise going in - nice atmosphere, but the barkeep was uninterested, and all 4 tap beers (cellar taps) were not available - worrisome.

Enjoyed two nights drink and music on a long weekend in London. Excellent drink and bar food, piano playing and songalong. We will come again.

Etwas abseits vom grossen Trubel liegt dieser Pub. Die Connaught Street wirkt angenehm ländlich. Man sitzt vor dem Pub, schlürft ein Pint und geniesst das Leben. Essen muss nicht sein, normales Pubfood, nicht überwältigendes Fish and Chips. Besser nur was trinken.

An impromptu visit for a swift pint of delicious beer and a quick salad nicoise and fries. And I wasn't disappointed. Bar staff (Gino if I recall) and colleagues super helpful and obliging. And the food was glorious. Highly recommended.

I like the pub , good choice of drinks, good mix of people but the 2 girls on the bar always texting & whispering between themselves , sniggering and pointing very unprofessional, sort of puts you off !

The small pub has a nice atmosphere, tasty food and reasonable prices. The service was professional as well (we were lucky to meet a nice Sicilian guy)

Tomamos un par de copas aquí y luego comimos. El pub es muy agradable y acogedor y nos dieron una mesa encantadora en la zona del restaurante junto a la ventana. Comí los espaguetis de marisco, estaba bien, pero he tenido mejor. No pude probar el chile en la salsa y sentí que los espaguetis estaban demasiado cocidos. Sin embargo, el servicio fue rápido y amable.

Very nice old-style pub in central London. The hamburgers are excellent and the atmosphere is cosy and warm.

No hay mucho espacio en el bar, que tiene mesas que se pueden reservar y cuando estuvimos allí, estaba ocupado por un grupo de unos 20 que ocuparon casi todo el bar. Can't fault the food which was chicken breast (£13.00) which was huge in a genuine mushroom sauce,dauphinoise potatos and a neat little roll of asparagus wrapped in parma ham.Beer was a nothing special Moretti lager at £5.50.Small but neat restaurant and lots of outside tables arranged at the front of the building for people watching in 'Connaught Village'

I walked to the bar and ordered an old mout cider (charged me for symonds), I was looking at the food menu and was consistently rushed by the barmaid for my order even though there was no-one else around. I ordered and paid but then realised it was more than on the menu, when I asked the barmaid she said it’s the 12.5% service charge, this apparently wasn’t optional and was very rude when I questioned it. No service was provided and it was a rude impatient barmaid serving me so I wouldn’t pay service anyway. How can you add service charge when a customer walks to the bar to order and you hadn’t provided any service yet?

We stayed overnight nearby and booked an evening meal. The whole experience was great. Meal excellent, music in the bar good fun. A traditional London pub. Highly recommended.

Popped in with a colleague for a drink whilst in London for business. Lovely traditional looking London pub. Pints of Moretti and Maltsmith's IPA cost a £5 each. Nice little outside seating area. Lovely

We came here on the recommendation of our hotel staff over at the Marble Arch Marriott. Had an exceptional time here, as we happened to stop in on a Sunday evening and it was open mike to sing in the pub. There was a fair amount of talent that night and plenty fun to listen to them carry on! Even so, we had come for dinner and that did not disappoint at all! Great food, excellent service and reasonably priced food and a very fun pub atmosphere made for a very enjoyable evening all around. It was the perfect pub experience to brag about once we returned home... great memories!

Whilst working in London found this little pub, been few times now for meals both lunchtime and evening. Food cannot fault at all, do a lovely roast dinner on Sunday, lunchtime burgers also fantastic. Prices good for London. Although gets busy, no real waiting.
