Wonderful staff. Nice to find a true local vibe in a central London location.

I waited at the bar to be served and was ignored by the man behind it. Another person came in after me - clearly someone he knows - and he spoke to him like an old friend and served him straight away. The other woman who was serving someone else, once she’d finished, then walked away. The man finally asked me what I wanted in a rude and unconcerned way, which was the final straw. I will never come back to this pub again - there are far better places in the area anyway.

Superb friendly family run independent pub, in the heart of this little community just off Hyde park. It's got tables outside to have a drink in the sun and watch the world go by, a cosy restaurant area in the back serving fabulous food, and the main pub area has a piano and often hosts parties with sing-a-longs (worth dropping in on a Sunday night if you can!)

An absolute gem. Not my local, but a favourite whenever I’m in this part of town. Welcoming vibe, friendly staff, great food and drinks selection. A perfect combo of a classic pub feel with all the little extras that make it an ideal friends' meet-up spot in the heart of London.

A pretty flatiron pub at the corner of Connaught Street and Kendal Street featuring a selection of keg beers and London Pride for lovers of the cask. A delightful dining area to the rear and a convivial bar area at the front, complete with a piano, waiting for the next Liberache. A most enjoyable "traditional" London pub.

Good pub, nice food (burger, Sunday roast and chocolate lava cake were great). Live piano started after 8pm on a Sunday, which was cool.

Update your hours if you say you're closed 1hr before listed closing.

We got fish and chips as well as sausage and mash which was very nice. The prices are okay for the area. Service was quite slow and the restaurant was quiet inside where we sat, otherwise it was ok.

It's just another miserable place with rude staff that doesn't know the basics about customer care. Manager Ali seems a guy that runs this place. Just try to be nice with people who are spending money at your place and teach your staff to do the same. My 1st and last time, good luck.

Standard suburban British pub, reasonable food, packed for the soccer so good atmosphere with beer. Not bad.

I've been going to the Duke of Kendal for about a year and a half now, and it has truly become one of my favorite places in London. The food is fantastic, and the staff is always friendly and smiling, with Gino being an absolute star. The pub has a charming and cozy atmosphere, with well-maintained premises and a spacious, more private room at the back. It's a classic pub with an excellent selection of beers and spirits. But what makes the Duke of Kendal truly special is the amazing authentic London singalong on Sunday evenings, which has been a highlight of all my weekends during my time in London. As I am now moving abroad, the Duke will undoubtedly be one of the things I miss the most. (the Pub is also pet-friendly).

Classic English pub with great service and of course a big TV to watch the match. I had the fish & chips with IPA beer. Everything was excellent 👌🏻 A typical English bar with excellent service! I ordered the fish & chips and it was delicious, crunchy, not greasy, and the IPA beer was very good. Highly recommended

It’s just a short walk from Marble Arch tube, through Connaught Square who’s residents include Tony Blair and Claudia Winkelman, then just a short stroll through the wonderful shops of Connaught Village and your here. . On arrival there was a warm welcome from the lady behind the bar who was chatting to one of the locals who was perched at the bar. I arrived here just after 1pm and it was quiet, a few punters arrived shortly after and the place started to fill up. The pub is a triangular shape with tables and chairs packed closely together which makes the bar a very social space. There’s a Joanna here which comes out now and again on Sunday evenings. There’s another bar at the back which is set up as a dining area, this pub has a strong pizza game as well as other food options. My pint wasn’t overly priced, even though I was in an upmarket part of town. For all you love birds out there, why not pay a visit to the love tree opposite the pub ❤️ . The @dukeofkendal is a gastro pub that doesn’t alienate it’s wet trade customers which is great thing. Good service and a warm welcome awaits you here. 📊 Information correct on visiting 13/11/21

We don't live local, but we visit our friends,who live in this area.And when we are here we usually come to this pub for a meal.Never been disappointed with the food.I love this place ; I like friendly, working hard manager and all team of the pub.Wonderful owner.

Lovely with outdoor seating in a quiet part of Connaught Village. Delicious food, good wines by the glass. Great Sunday roasts, pizza and must - try garlic prawns. We live locally and come to this pub very often, and love it because of its wonderful friendly atmosphere where we made a lot of friends and have tried wonderful professionally cooked food, no matter what you choose. I would recommend this pub as one of the best in the area. Very hard working staff run by a highly professional Manager! Also it is important to mention that this pub is 🐕 dog friendly!

Allowed drunk and disorderly owners to keep a dangerous and untrained dog off lead.

Sunday Roast gave me food poisoning, weird atmosphere, TVs that aren’t turned on, off putting environment. Shameful because the pub is in such a nice location, but I wouldn’t recommend this spot to anyone.

I had a couple of pints here. The Duke of Kendal is no different to many other pubs in London, OK if it's close by but not worth diverting to.

Delicious food and lovely setting. Friendly staff. Food served promptly for our group of 11. Dog friendly and very accommodating to our last minute changes. Good atmosphere and clean toilets! Very reasonably priced for good food, good portion sizes so close to Marble Arch.

A hidden gem. Just had the salmon and my friend the Cumberland sausage. We are Northerners so love our food and would highly recommend this place

It's like pubs used to be. Great atmosphere and good, reasonably priced food.

It was a lovely atmosphere with people and Sunday sing-along. Loved the bartenders they were so kind and friendly, however restaurant staff was unfortunately slow. We were 12 people and for 20 min no one came and asked if we wish to have any drinks or we ready for the food no menus offered to take a look. We had to go and look for someone ( although the place is small) Had to ask 3 times for water for the table. They brought 1x jug for 12 people I had to ask to bring another one. Food arrived had to ask twice for cutleries but over all kind people and that didn’t spoiled that evening. Definitely would come back again. Recommend

Lovely place with friendly staff, good service.

Spontaneously grabbed a quick drink here one sunny evening and saw other tables ordering pizzas that looked really good. The menu only really had a plain tomato and garlic pizza suitable for vegans but we thought we'd try it anyway so went in to double check about the base and the chef came out and said he'd make something bespoke. And it was the best pizza we've had in ages - generous with the veg, not too oily, light and airy base. Many thanks to that chef!

A characteristics Pub, the bear it's really good, the atmosphere relaxed, enjoy a sunny day outside, there are to many table and chair in the sidewalk.

Ordered a pint of London Pride. It was cloudy and off. Took it back and asked for a refund. Bar guy went through the motions of reimbursing card using card reader, but no refund has come through.

For my first time there the staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was top notch, delicious and well presented.

Disappointing. A very long delay serving the food. Poor communication and updates. Extremely poor attitude from the staff when we raised concerns - aggressive and sarcastic. Food was OK when it arrived.

El lugar es muy lindo, la ubicación, espectacular... pero no me gustó demasiado. De todos los pubs a los que fui, fue en el único que me cobraron abusivamente la propina, de lo que me enteré al pedir el ticket que en principio no me quisieron dar. La pizza parecía recalentada, con la base y el queso quemado (raro, dado que los responsables son italianos). Y caro, bastante caro. En fin, no volvería, hay pubs mucho mejores y con personal más atento.

Greeted by blank miserable faces , no smiles, no welcome at all. I ordered a Birra Moretti, it looked totally flat and tasted awful. I asked if I could change the drink .. no smiles or apologies.. instead I was presented with a harsh frown and hostility. Then I was ignored for a time by the bar woman who ‘looked’ like she’d been smoking drugs all day. Then I was asked by a gentleman ‘well what’s wrong with it ?’ I told him he needed to taste it, at this point of the staff became agitated. I was told that I was ‘f**king’rude. At this point I felt I needed to get out of the situation so I told them that go forward they need to greet people with a smile and that their beer tastes like s**t. I swiftly left. All factual information for those thinking about entering these premises. However there’s a lovely pub around the corner called The Victoria, I’d highly recommend this one .

I was concerned about the review regarding the fish and chips but my fears were unfounded. Delicious. The reason I have marked it down is purely because anyone with mobility issues would have a serious problem using the toilets. It is a very old building.

Passamos momentos mágicos nesse pub. Um senhor tocando um piano mágico e o público cantando . Comida ótima e ambiente agradabilíssimo.

Sunday lunch - although the beef was tender the vegetables consisted of watery small portion of cabbage, 4 tiny cut carrots and watery tasteless gravy with a flat Yorkshire pudding albeit my friends was fine. Beef and Chicken roast plus 2 soft drinks £39. We left hungry and extremely disappointed. The staff are friendly and I will stick to just drinks from now on. My own cooking is so much better!

‘It’s your lucky day guys, we’ve found a table for you!’ - it was not. First off, our table was cancelled with no warning. They claimed they were fully booked so could not seat us, then took us through the empty pub to a table at the back in the dark, much as the devil would lure you to his lair. When asked if we could have a light on they responded with ‘no it’s too expensive’. After perusing the menu they’d clearly overstretched themselves on, we ordered a couple of roasts and brunch items. As we found out later, they were unhappy with this as it was difficult for the kitchen. The food took a long time to come considering we had made it before the rush, and was cold. When asked if it could be heated up the staff looked disgruntled and informed us it would take too long as they were busy. When we said they could just microwave it, they reluctantly agreed. Don’t bother trying to get sauces as you’d have a better chance escaping Alcatraz. At the end of this bizarre and terrible experience, we agreed amongst ourselves to pay for what we got. We had to wait so long for a card machine we decided to go to the bar to pay. The waiter then argued with us as splitting the bill would take him too long and demanded one person had to front the entire cost for us to then send them the 1/5th of the bill each. As a positive the female server was lovely, but the male front of house needs some training in hospitality and how to communicate with other human beings.

Many people here will have fond memories of this pub, especially the period decor friendly staff and, of course, the singing on Sunday evenings. Unfortunately, most of that has gone, due to the terrible management of the current landlord. The old customers have mostly gone away and a new clientele has arrived, who are pretty ghastly. The landlord has also ruined the decor with a refurb that replaced the period features with shiny fittings that would be more in place in an exotic brothel. As for the singing - there used to be 50 or more people every Sunday, many of whom had been coming for nearly 20 years. Now, it's maybe half a dozen, with a few bemused tourists joining in. The only reason to go, that I can see, is to catch up with old friends and see where they have moved on to.

HORRIBLE PUB, THE WORST I EVER BEEN. WAITED 1 HOUR FOR OUR FOOD. When we asked gently where our food was we got answered in a very rude way by one of the barmen. Than when the food arrived it was completely tasteless that we just walked out!

Great London pub..Great character. Staying near by and decided to give it a go. Menu offered Great choice, pizza fish and other usual pub classics. Opted for pizza and Greek salad it was OK.. brought in pizza bases which I felt a bit cheated Greek salad was more like a cucumber salad no olives? And cheap feta. Pricey on the drinks but I guess that's London for you. Would return but probably not to dine.

We visited the pub for a lunch time meal. Arrived at 13.00 and were finally served our food at 14.30!! This was after several requests/reminders. The excuse was that there were staff shortages in the kitchen. People who came in after us were served before us. Admittedly the bill was reduced but it spoiled our lunch experience with our friends.

My boyfriend and I came here for a couple of cocktails before heading out for dinner. Lisa served us and she was brilliant. Really passionate about her work, went above and beyond to serve us off the menu drinks. She was so friendly. Can’t recommend this place enough!!

Moved to Lancaster Gate a few months ago, visited all of the local pubs various times, the Kendal outclasses them all. Gary looks after us so we’ll with unbelievable service and knowledge. Food is always consistently good. Table service as well as a great atmosphere....

Down in London for the week and visited here 2 times in a row. We had there same meal both nights as it was so good. A special mention to Gary for topping up our drinks regularly and brilliant banter and perfect service
