Use this restraint regularly both for business meetings and for pleasure. Always friendly attentive staff and a nice atmosphere. Food always hot and fresh. On this occasion had a cheeky take out and it was lovely… they did forget my mango chutney though! Prices on the higher side for a restaurant but the quality and service makes it good value

This was my second visit to the restaurant and it was just as amazing as my first. The service is the best I have received and the food is such great quality and very tasty. Always use Miah's for our Indian takeaways. The service is great and the food amazing. Dishes feel really individually cooked with care. Other places we felt like the dishes all tasted alike, but not here. The owner is lovely and we called to bring forward our collection time because we were out of the cinema early, and it was no trouble. So friendly ! We live near Bradfield Southend at junction 12 of M4, but it's a quick nip down one motorway junction and we are always home inside 20 minutes. Highly recommend.

Firstly, the service was impeccable. There was nothing they couldn't do. Great atmosphere, incredibly friendly. The Food was brilliant and is now my new favourite. I will definitely be returning and would highly recommend. I saw a few bad reviews and I can't relate whatsoever. It's a few miles away from home, but definitely worth the travel for a fantastic curry.

We have visited quite a few times before and always loved it. This Christmas was no different, we had a beautiful lunch, the food was gorgeous and the service was amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We regularly get a takeaway delivery from Miah’s for our family and they never fail to impress. My fussy boys are always happy with their selections. The food is delicious and fantastic quality. Ash is particularly helpful on the phone and has good recommendations of new things to try too. Would highly recommend this fabulous Indian restaurant

I've eaten here four times before. Always had great service, nice food and an overall good time. This time, it wasn't like that. I was with my husband and our friend with her two daughters. The restaurant was surprisingly not very busy for a Saturday night when we arrived at 7pm. However, the guy behind the bar was taking take-away orders non-stop. We were seated and left alone (no menus). After 10 minutes, I went and asked for some menus and when they gave them to us, they asked if we'd like drinks and Poppadoms. 20 minutes after that no-one had even come close to us, so I went and asked about the poppadoms. They were finally delivered and we asked about our drinks order. That arrived ten minutes later (after we'd finished the poppadoms). By this point, it was 7:50pm and no-one had taken our main order. I had to go and ask again and at 8pm, our orders were taken. They apologised for the delay and said the poppadoms were on the house. We gave our main order and my husband (who is allergic to everything in the onion family) told them. As I said, we've eaten there plenty of times before and it's never been a problem before. This time there was a lot of unhappiness on their part and 'negotiations'. Finally we agreed our order. It arrived at 8:40pm, just as I was about to go and ask again. My food and our friends was lovely. As nice as always. My husbands food didn't look so appealing. To be honest, it looked like chicken thighs and vegetables in tomato soup. He didn't really enjoy it, but he was most unhappy to discover after eating about half of it that there were two slices of garlic and some onions in the dish. We called the waiter over to complain. He fetched someone (who told us he was the owner - although the waiter looked very sceptical when he described himself that way). The owner was not apologetic; he was rude, claimed they had not used garlic or onions, even though they were very evident in the food left and when my husband asked what those items were then, the owner accused him of lying and "putting them in ourselves". A pretty ridiculous suggestion.Our friend had already paid whilst this was going on. We weren't trying to cadge a free meal, we were upset that they'd ignored our dietary requirements.Without the owners behaviour, this would have been a 3 star review. We did wait a long time (although they were clearly short of staff and the take-away orders were occupying one guy completely). Our food was nice, even if my husband's wasn't what he'd ordered. Everyone restaurant has an off-day sometimes.However, to be shouted at by the owner and accused of lying is totally unacceptable. He made the youngest girl in our party cry because of his behaviour. So, they've lost our custom and probably that of our friends (who live local to the restaurant).

In a world of online shopping and click collect, it's great to relax in authentic surrounds with great food and excellent service....keep local alive !

We normally go to Miahs to eat in at the restaurant but we decided to try a takeaway. The food was just as tasty as eating it in the restaurant. It arrived quickly and was nice and hot. Would definitely use the takeaway service again!

Having lived in Birmingham for many years and being spoilt for choice for Indian restaurants, the minute I visited miahs after I moved to the area, it just felt right. The gents serving welcomed us, and were tentative, they advised me of specials, introduced themselves and made me feel very welcome. I was served by "Ash" and he was engaging wihh conversation. It just reminded me of home in Birmingham and their service was second to none. I think I have just found my local curry house.Cheers guys

From the minute we got there the waiter who greeted us was rude and pushy. There was a long dark hair on the table as we sat. He asked our drink order then asked us what we would like to order for food before we had even been given a menu to look at. The starters arrived and were bland. The salad on the plates had clearly been left out for a while as the cucumber and tomato were dry. The yogurt dip is left in a plastic jug at the front! Thankfully we had an emergency and had to leave before we got our mains. We told him we needed to go and couldn't eat but still paid full price. Even though we expressed many times WE NEEDED TO LEAVE he rudely told us we had to wait to collect our food and take it with us to eat for dinner. He also forced me to take all the chocolates that came with the bill by abruptly telling me "take them all" when we didnt want any we just needed to get out of there. Will certainly not be returning here again.

I will start this review by saying the food was nice. The menu is slightly different and has a wide choice.The person that greeted us was a bit pushy to a point where I found him rude. The pickle tray that comes with the poppadoms was delicious and we devoured them. It was at the point our pickle tray was removed from the table and our used yoghurt dip was poured into a large plastic jug which was then being used for other customers that I stopped enjoying the meal. At the time we went, the cocktails on their menu were not being served, but it was only when one of our group went to ask for one we were advised of this. We were given a tray with what appeared to be sugar coated spices on (when we received our bill). Unfortunately, because of what we had witnessed with the yoghurt dip we were definitely not going to try something else that could have been someone else's leftovers.It was fine, but I'm not sure we will be back any time soon.

Me and my hubby had a recent visit to this place. It was our first time to this place and we were so pleased with the surrounding and arrangements. They had a good choice of menu and value for money. Even have takeaway so don't need to worry about leftover foods. Sizzling prawn was our starter followed by chicken biryani and chicken naga, which was amazing and service was quick didn't had to wait long. Have already decided to visit again for my birthday. Sure to recommend Miah's Spencers wood for my friend & family. This place is a little gem.

As a curry fanatic, whilst there was nothing wrong with the food there was just nothing special about it at all and I have had far better in Bradford and Manchester. I found the food a little bland and the starter was huge !!!! Overall it was average at best.

Whilst the food is good getting it can prove to be a challenge. I usually get a takeaway and on the last 3 attempts this has been disappointing.

Following a recommendation from friends we booked a table for 6 people, 3 couples for 8pm. On arrival there was confusion over our booking, we were eventually seated on a table which was too small for 6 people, tucked in a corner. We waited at the table for 15 minutes to place our drinks orders, which took a further 15 minutes to get to us. 15-20 minutes later we were given some poppadoms which we hadn’t asked for, however at least this gave us something to eat whilst we waited for a waiter to take our food order which was over an hour after we arrived. The food eventually arrived at around 10pm, which from first dish being placed on the table took over 10 minutes for all our food to arrive. Some of the dishes were cold and we didn’t want to send it back as it took so long to arrive in the first place. The food was very bland and unimpressive even though it was rated spicy on the menu. Just as we had finished our food a very sweaty chef dressed in a tee shirt, came to our table and made a very poor attempt to apologise that the food took so long to come out. He made an excuse that there was poor communication in the kitchen which had led to the delays. We were not the last group to be seated but we were the last to get our food. We eventually managed to leave about 11:30pm after chasing the bill and having to go to the bar area to pay the bill as there were no waiting staff paying any attention to us at all, which was the case throughout night.

This has been our 'local' for over 11 years now. Excellent food whether you eat in or have a take away. Always friendly service - and when I call for a take away Ash always recognises by voice and calls me by my name. Highly recommend Miah's for the best food in town.

I've been eating at Miah's both takeaway and in the restaurant since they opened, over these years I've tried many others restaurants around the country (as I'm a lover of Indian food) and nothing comes any where near the quality and flavours of Miah's. The staff are fantastic, knowledgeable and always open to advise on trying new dishes........ Don't forget if you want more or less spice in your dish they are more than happy to accommodate :-) Thank you Miah's (Mr Alan)

The night started off really good but then by the end of the night I felt the staff had forgot we were there. The food was fantastic and I loved the starter and the main course even though I thought there were not many choices on the menu.

We have been to Miahs a few times now but this was one of our best visits. My partner was unsure of what to have and wanted to try something a bit different. He wanted a ‘medium’ curry but with a bit extra. He was offered the murgh naga chilli massala but customised to have a nice medium heat. The food came out quickly and nice and hot. The dish recommended went down well and we didnt leave anything over.

I've taken my family to lovely Restaurants in the past, But i have to say this restaurant outshines them all,The food is exceptional, The service is exquisite and fantastic, Very nice and clean restaurant. I would highly recommend this Restaurant to Friends and Family.

We ordered a grilled chicken tikka and a sheekh kebab with two plain naans. This has to be one of most disappointing meals that I can recall for a quiet a while.

Staying locally advised this restaurant in walking distance and an excellent choice. Enjoying spicy food this restaurant offers delicious spicing without killing the taste with chilli. Excellent service from all of the staff. Only criticism - small bottle of soda water £2.50. Will return if in the area however.

Just had a take away delivered from Miahs spencers wood, the chicken Korma & rice was quite good, but the two dishes containing Lamb were totally inedable. The first dish was Lamb Tikka Massala, the sauce was ok but the Lamb was so tough you could not eat it, the first bite had a piece of bone in it, yes, BONE, the rest of the so called meat was like trying to eat chunks of tough tasteless rubber, the other dish, Lamb Balti was just as bad, whatever you do, DO NOT order anything proporting to contain Lamb from the menu....dont say i didnt warn you !!!!!

Again another lovely meal at Miah’s along with my nice cold Kingfisher beer. Friendly staff and lovely Ash always recommends a nice vegetarian dish for my Mum. Great service and smiley staff. Best curry house in Reading area.

The restaurant is nicely decorated, modern and clean with comfortable chairs and decent size tables. The staff are very welcoming and attentive. The food, particularly the sizzling prawn starter, was very good. Recommend a visit for either work or pleasure. Enjoy!

We on spec ordered some takeaway not been here for years - the various dishes we ordered were succulent and tasty, the lamb just melted. The service we received was very good saying "nice to see you back again".

My hubby and I were on our way to Southampton from Norfolk and were having the most horrible journey! An accident on the M11 and then a warning that the M3 was CLOSED! We were tired and very hungry and I decided to search on google maps for Indian restaurants near where we were. It came up with Miah's as one and I detoured us off the M4 following the map. What a godsend this place was! Such lovely people and the most delicious food. It was so fresh and so well cooked. The chef is obviously very talented even the Naan bread tasted different. So light and fresh. We were overwhelmed with the kindness the staff showed us, even as far as setting us on the right course for our onward journey. If we lived nearer (actually I still don't know where we were) we would eat there all the time. Thank you Miah's so very much. I'm so sorry I cannot remember the name of the gentleman who looked after us...

Food is always tasty and some of the more unusual sounding dishes on the menu add some interesting variety. Staff happy to adapt dishes to personal taste also

My wife and I Went into the restaurant on a Friday night, and had one of the worst meals of our lives,since we had last visited this restaurant it has been refurbished and we were expecting a nice evening,the waiter who served us was very unfriendly and rude from the start,but to top it off the food came served Luke warm and tasteless ,we left most of the food and it was obvious that we had not enjoyed our meal and complained to the waiter ,who just smiled and said sorry to hear that, we waited 15 minutes for him to come back to our table and to hear what he had to say about our complaint , he just put the bill on our table( with service charge added)and walked away without a word,we both looked at each other shocked and decided to just pay ( less service charge) and leave,quite honestly we will never visit this restaurant again or ever recommend this place

My brother and I come to Miah's so that we can enjoy good Indian Cuisine (he likes the old faithfuls, whereas I like the contemporary - Miah's provides both - yay!).I don't usually drink beer - but they serve wonderful kingfisher beer - love the glasses. The pickle tray with the pompadoms has a fascinating array of tasty accompaniments. The shish kebabs starter is brov' favourite. I chose the lamb shank - delicious spices (but not Hot spicy) - a fabulous dish. We also enjoyed the best tasting onion bahji - so crisp and not floury or fatty.We decided to go for a floater coffee and a brandy on the side (very 80's I know) - the best tasting coffee. the brandy however, was even more awesome -it had it's own stand and tealight to warm it. thanks for an amazing meal

My partner and I have been visiting Miah's Spencer's wood for a number of years. It's worth mentioning that although not a chain in normal terms they have restaurants in both Reading and Pangbourne. Our 'local' should be Pangbourne but we have a real soft spot for the location in Spencer's Wood and the recently expanded venue (leaving a wonderfully spacious restaurant and boy it gets very very busy!) simply because of the lovely staff and relaxing atmosphere. A fine fair of traditional Indian cuisine, a recently revamped menus has taken away from some of the 'modern menu' leaving the choice favourites. Always fresh, my personal fav's being either a Chicken Pasanda or Chicken Naga, I've yet to have a wish I'd ordered my favourite moment. Always authentic, in my opinion anyway... you can always guarantee fantastic service from the staff they are so genuinely lovely.

I can't speak highly enough of out local Miah's, we have had both take always and eaten in the restaurant. The restaurant itself has been newly renovated and it's staff are very welcoming and friendly. We have never had a bad meal, always cooked to a high standard.I highly recommend this restaurant/takeaway.

We booked a table for 7pm and managed to arrive 10 minutes early. We entered the restaurant there were people waiting for takeaway meals the guy on the desk was on the phone and there didn't seem to be anyone available to show us to our table. A waiter walked past us and looked straight through us! He came back again so I approached him to tell him about our booking He didn't understand a word I was saying! Then I re explained to another waiter who also didn't understand what I was saying. I had to break it down in very plain English that we need to sit at a table! Popadoms were brought to our table but I had to ask another waiter to take our drinks order. Our drinks arrived after 10 minutes but we weren't given menus to look at!!! It was like we were invisible So we decided we'll pay for our drinks and leave. As we were doing so a more senior waiter stopped us and said he will look after us So we went back to our table. When the food arrived I wasn't impressed! My vegetable curry was very spicey (I asked for mild) and my takka dahl tasted discussing! My husbands chicken madras was disappointing too. We just wanted to get out of the place after such a bad experience. I asked for the bill 6 times but never got it so I went to the front desk to pay. I could over hear someone else complaining at the desk. All in all extremely poor service The food was nothing to write home about and definitely will not be returning!

what a lovely surprising find. The staff was very friendly. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh and authentic. Some traditional dishes, but with a special quality, my relative said typical for South India, where she'd been. I asked them to make it really spicy, which they didn't. But I forgave them as the food was so tasty, it was really really nice. I am trying to come up with an excuse to go there again as the food was so good and the atmosphere was nice and the staff friendly.

Went to Miahs for the first time after it's refurbishment.It looks very nice inside and I believe has been extended. There are lots of tables and I think they need to do some marketing to get more people in, otherwise it's always going to seem half empty.The food was reasonably good, although always a little unsure when I see bright red sauces. You would not get that in India. Cocktail parasols placed as decoration in the top of the dishes was 'naff'. New menu was an improvement on previous menu.The brothers that run the place are good, but there were other staff (I think Eastern European) who were poor and their understanding and vocabulary of English wasn't good.Would return, but it needs a few 'tweaks'.

Been meaning to try Miahs for ages and tonight ordered a take away. Quite disappointed. Ordered jumbo king prawn rogan the prawns were not the size we get from other Indian restaurants - very small and not many in the curry had to search in the sauce for them. The Lamb dish was really chewy and the chicken korma had a lot of sauce hiding the chicken pieces. Rice was nice and the poppadoms and sauces lovely. Also liked the bhajis but the nan was stone cold. Overall a let down.

Went in here after a booking problem with another restaurant. Best curry we have ever eaten! My garlic mushroom starter was absolutely amazing! My partner absolutely raved about his lamb shank for the main course. Reasonably priced. Attentive staff. Delicious food. What more could you ask for?! We've left very full and with a take away menu in hand ready for another day!! Cannot recommend highly enough!!

Since my last visit the establishment has undergone some refurbishment. The surroundings are very tasteful and naturally aligned to the cuisine served. I was in a party of four, all work friends with one guest from Germany who requested an Indian meal.Service was A*, food was also out of this world served hot, fresh and expertly presented. None of us could finish the dishes, the portions were very generous. I recommend this quiet restaurant. I think you need to try it to understand just how good it really is. (I recommend the Lucknowi!)
