Absolutely brilliant place great food service & atmosphere would highly recommend we go hear quite often one of the best restaurants I have been to

Excellent service, delectable cuisine, and reasonable prices. I highly recommend this establishment for any occasion, whether it’s a private gathering or a public event. The hospitality is truly exceptional and sets this place apart from others.

Delicious food without a doubt though in my opinion very overpriced. You are also given bread that you didn’t ask for or need and are then charged quite highly for it.

I’d like to begin by commending the service, which was exceptional. The staff were very attentive and quick to take orders, ensuring that the overall experience, from placing the order to leaving the restaurant, was efficient and well-timed. As for the food, it was decent, though I must admit I’ve had better experiences at other Turkish restaurants. I ordered the Pirzola (lamb chops), priced at £24, which doesn’t include a side. I opted for the Pilav rice as an extra, costing £3.50, but unfortunately, it was slightly cold when served. The lamb chops themselves were just about average. While they were acceptable in flavour, I’ve certainly enjoyed juicier and more tender lamb chops elsewhere. These were tougher and felt a bit overcooked for my liking. That said, if you prefer your lamb chops well done, this might suit your tastes. In conclusion, while the service was truly impressive, it isn’t quite enough to tempt me back, especially when there are other Turkish restaurants offering a more satisfying dining experience overall.

This restaurant is a treasure! The dishes were expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. The friendly service and warm ambiance made it a night to remember.

Just had a takeaway from here and it was excellent. Great portion sizes and quite tasty. Definitely recommend.

Welcoming and very kind staff, cool atmosphere with delicious food. Everything tasted like it was made from fresh ingredients and all the food was very flavourful. Very reasonable prices and will definitely be coming back soon.

Why everything soooo fresh!! Meat, vegetables and even bread! Every single dish was cooked so well and properly! Staffs are all friendly, patient and super nice! Highly recommend!

I had a takeaway Kebab.It was uncooked and tasteless.They also give me a huge wrap instead of meal and salad.Disappointing

I hate to say it but the quality of the food had gone down hill a bit (meat tough, tasteless, and everything drowning in oil), which is a shame because this place is a South London landmark and we've had lots of really lovely meals here over the years.

Honestly I think Meze Mangal is one of the best Turkish restaurants south of the river. My family & I have been eating here regularly about 12-15 years ago. We then went and lived abroad over the past 15 years. We’re back in London for a month and in the Lewisham area. Tonight we remembered this restaurant and as we were driving close by we dropped in for dinner. The manger remembered us and greeted us warmly. Our dinner tonight reminded us once more of how good & tasty the food is at this restaurant. We will be back….. many more times inshallah….

Have been coming here for years, food is still amazing.. especially the Lahmacun! Came recently with family, 15 of us and everyone was impressed. Had the katmer for dessert for the first time. It melted in my mouth. So lovely. And the owners are 5* entertained my youngest! Thank you and we will be back soon.

One of my biggest sadnesses of moving South of the river has been the lack of decent Turkish food. Well, I need be sad no longer! This restaurant is absolutely spot on, everything we had was perfect. Staff very friendly as well. Absolutely delighted to have this place a short bus ride away, I shall be a regular for sure!

Went for my birthday after hearing about it for the best part of a decade. The food was phenomenal, the service great - they really looked after us. It's quite a big place though so unless it's packed out, it misses a bit of atmosphere. All in all fantastic.

I found a very delicious Turkish restaurant on my way back from a trip to South London! The boss and chefs were very friendly and recommended delicious meals to us, allowing us to choose our meals directly next to the oven~ This time, the two of them chose two meals, grilled lamb + chicken skewers, and Turkish pizza. The portions were very generous, and two adult women couldn't finish them! The roasted lamb and chicken taste very fragrant, the meat is plump and chewy, and the side dishes on the side are very satisfying. After eating a whole plate, I still have a lot of aftertaste! The texture of the Turkish-style pizza is also very chewy, with a solid flour texture and a very satisfying feeling! It’s also a very recommended dish~ Overall, both the food and the atmosphere are excellent. I will visit again next time!

Run like a military operation exellent service and decor. Shame about the lighting and thick black mould all above the toilets. Hope I don't get sick from it. Also dangerous big screw sticking out of entrance door

Went for a Work Christmas meal and was pleasantly surprised. Good service and great tasting food. My only gripe is that it is a little on the expensive side for what you're getting. £19 for two kebabs a little salad is a bit excessive!

Very good food, people very friendly, parking available, definitely will recommend to my friends.

The food was very good. The service was a little lacklustre. The restaurant was empty when we arrived around 1630 so I thought it a little strange that they wanted the table back by 6. A few more tables were occupied but nowhere near full so a bit strange. The bathrooms downstairs are damp and cold with black mould growth on the ceilings. Not pleasant.

The food here is always great, as is the service. I have only been for lunch in the winter, as it is quite cold in there, hence the low atmosphere score. On a busy evening or during the summer, i am sure it would be a 3 x 5 score

The portions are big. The food is tastier than in Turkey. And the prices are good. I recommend you to try.

We had our Xmas dinner party here.. great service and the food was amazing... Well cooked crispy, breads... Hummus, tzatziki dips were great but the tomato spicy salsa dip which our waiter recommended was out of this world...goes perfectly with all of our meals...starters and mains... Bread was yummy... Nice selection of desserts too... Regarding pricing... Perhaps I should have asked if there were packages for Xmas parties... Next time... Thank you. All very friendly and parking and the front of the restaurant... Bonus!

This place use to be so good. Now they are serving off shish meat that absolutely stinks you can smell it’s off and still blaming the seasoning claiming that’s what it is. Off meat can cause food poisoning it’s not on!!! The lahmacun was tasteless. This place has gone down hill. I wouldn’t eat in that place again!!! Keep away!!!

Held a family function at this restaurant, they were attentive to all our guests, hot and tasty food came out in good time, the restaurant was clean warm and welcoming, the staff were professional and polite, We had a really nice evening and will for sure be revisiting this establishment in the near future.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this family run restaurant, I am simply comparing it to other restaurants that are similar and I felt that it was only OK in comparison. It is fairly priced and a spacious and clean restaurant but I didn't finish my food and the selection of drinks was unimpressive (no cocktail menu).

Great local restaurant, friendly and consistent. I mainly use it for takeaway so can't comment too much on atmosphere. Staff are helpful and friendly.

You will not eat better humus anywhere else on the planet. Their starter menu alone is a thing of beauty. The proprietors/staff are so onpoint, that if Gordon Ramsay came in to help, they'd teach him how it's done.

The restaurant was too cold. The food wasn't delicious but too oily. Grilled halloumi wasn't grilled but fried. The restaurant used to be good but unfortunately this time it was a let down.

The atmosphere inside is really relaxed and the waiting staff are quite friendly. Food is excellent and authentic Turkish as you would expect. Before you do order starters, make sure you'll have enough room for mains :D

Been going here for years and it’s 100% the best Turkish food in London (I’ve tried the ones on Green Lanes and Kingsland Road). Love the open BBQ cooking and the wood fired oven for bread and pizzas. Our favourite dish is the mixed mezze but the kebabs and Pides are also exceptional. Such lovely fresh food, generous portions and attentive service. Never lets us down.

We live locally and love coming to Mez Mangal, the food is fantastic, portion sizes are very generous, so you won't be leaving hungry! The service is also great, and the wine equally good. We will certainly be back again soon :)

Outstanding as always. Fantastic, family run restaurant serving south east London for decades. You know exactly what you are getting and quality of food remains the same. Don’t over order generous portions! We had a few starters and then lamb chops served with all sorts of salads. Lovely vibe and most importantly - the team behind it. Check up you are ok with everything without being over bearing. They give you honest reflections on your food and don’t try to get you to over order. Fab fresh tasting food. I’ve been going here nearly twenty years and will go again! And again!

Food was good, but eyewateringingly, outrageously expensive - especially for a restaurant in Deptford/lewisham. Cost over 75 pounds for 2 people - wont be able to go out for a while again

The staff was extremely helpful and attentive price of food was good value the salads and portions sizes was big enough Just for me I felt it lacked spice some of my food tasted smoked but lacked spices besides that I really enjoyed myself Would I go back? Yes

I have raved to my friends how wonderful the food here is and we decided to go. I has the kalamar which was sadly rather rubberey. My friends thoroughly enjoyed there starters, hummus and Hallumi. Decent sized portions too. For main I had cop shish along with my friend who asked for hers well done. Both meals were very well done and as I wanted mine 'normal' I wasn't impressed. As mine was very well done I couldn't eat it. When the server asked us if the food was ok I told him mine was over-cooked for my liking. We were given a small dessert wine, on the house. The portions were a good size but sadly, inedible to me. I have known to 2 brothers who own the restaurant for more years than I care to remember but sadly I will not be going back 😔
