Meze in Shropshire

We had visited when Meze was in its old building but were keen to go again now they are in a bigger space in the middle of Ellesmere. It’s a beautiful old town house that’s as quirky as the restaurant itself! You step inside and instantly feel like you are in Greece with Mediterranean colours and the traditional music playing. One tip - go hungry. The portions are hugely generous and the food is authentic and delicious - it’s always a treat to visit and enjoy something a bit different!

Me and my friends stayed in Ellesmere back in June, for a few nights away in log cabin. After cooking in the lodge every night, we decided to venture out and treat ourself for our final night. After google searching restaurants in the area, we came across Meze and decided to try it. What can I say, we chose the right place. Upon arriving we were seated outside as requested, I was able to bring my little dog along with us witch was just amazing, as we didn’t want to leave her alone in the log cabin. The table & whole vibe/aesthetic of the restaurant was just beautiful. We felt as though we were actually on holiday in Greece. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. We all ordered a different dish and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. The drinks were lovely and the cocktails very nice, I highly recommend trying the Molly Moo special cocktail!! Soo yummy. The lady that owned the restaurant was so welcoming and friendly, and we honestly could have stayed and talked to her all night! She was amazing. Thank you for a lovely night we really enjoyed it. And if we are ever in the area again we will definitely be paying you another visit. Xx

myself & the mrs had a fantastic meal this evening, all 3 courses was very flavoursome, staff very good & efficient, lovely atmosphere, defo will be going back, thank you meze.

Atmosphere and staff great. Food was great, couldn’t fault it. My only complaint is that the main course arrived before the starters were cleared and one person had only just finished. Not good enough. Apart from that the evening was great

We had a meal here before Covid kicked in and have had a couple of great takeaways during lockdown, so it was great to visit in person. They've opened up covered outdoor seating since last time we visited, which is well presented and has heaters in some areas.We usually eat meat, but tried the vegetarian Meze for a change. We were not disappointed. There was a great variety of dishes, with some different starters from the meat Meze and 3 really nice main dishes. There was far more food than we could eat, but the waiter offered to box the spare food up for us and we took it home for a great lunch the next day.Great food, great service, can't wait to visit again.

Booked by our daughter for Father’s Day. Food was superb. The service and friendliness of the staff was top notch. The atmosphere with Greek music in the background just put the icing on the cake. A lovely evening. Well done xxxxx

Lovely setting outside. The owner was very welcoming. Although the pitta bread and mezze starters were very good. mixed reports on the main meals, but most were happy. would definitely return

Had a fantastic meal at the Meze Greek Restaurant in Ellesmere whilst boating on the Llangollen Canal which passes here. The food was outstanding and the service excellent A great place for a night out

I visited on the 1st July as part of a group of 10. None of us had been before and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The restaurant is clean and has a lovely relaxing atmosphere. The food was plentiful and very good. Also good value.The staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble!Definitely will be returning soon.Thank you Meze for a great night

Visited with my two adult children on a Sunday evening. Quiet when we arrived (we had booked), but quickly became busier. A nice bohemian feel to the restaurant, with inside and outside seating. We ordered the vegetarian meze, and also souvlakis. All food was excellent, and we were surprised when the staff apologised for us waiting for service, as we thought it was really quick. Good choice of dishes, with decent vegetarian choices. We were tempted to try a dessert, but starters and mains were easily sufficient! All washed down with a Greek beer.

Gorgeous Greek food. Lovely atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended. Good value too and can’t wait to return : )

Take me back to Greece you shout, well you are in this lovely restaurant. Tsatsiki to die for, gigantes fabulously tasty and a feta saganaki (not the original but very good) made for a delicious start to our dinner.Followed by:Stifado (huge portion that smelt amazing)Chicken Metxaxa (creamy brandy sauce)Moussaka that’s was as good as any I’ve experienced in GreeceWould be my regular haunt if I lived here, definitely worth a visit if you are in the area

We have recently moved to Ellesmere from the Midlands & as we love Greek/Cypriot food,we decided to give this Restaurant a try.What an enjoyable time we had ! Great food/drink,friendly staff & a lovely ambience.We shall return.😊

Wandering up Shropshire canals and heard about this local ethnic offering. As a Greek Restaurant in Shropshire is probably about as close as I, or anyone else (probably) is going to get to anything Hellenic this year, we gave it a punt. Now time for the superlatives. A delightful ambience, food exquisitely prepared, attentive and friendly service. Best value for money I have found for a long time anywhere. If Crete, Mykonos or anywhere else in Greece is not possible for the foreseeable future, then head to Ellesmere and seek escapism in this most wonderful Taverna.

As a local I was looking forward to trying Meze as a new restaurant to eat and enjoy. We were sadly greeted with a rather rude welcoming, telling us we were late and were now back of the queue for food. We were not late in fact early and it was the restaurant’s mistake, not that we received an apology. We were then ignored from the moment we sat down having to ask if we could have a drink, ask if we could order etc. We felt really alienated, just awful. When the food came it was not good at all in fact I had to leave most of it. We will not be returning.

Just found out this place had moved and not closed. Great authentic Greek food the decor is really well done and freshly painted the interior design is perfectly suited to a Greek restaurant with simple touches like the sinks in the bathrooms and lovely painted cabinets done in a rustic fashion actually was quite inspired. The food has not changed from the original restaurant around the corner, very fresh, tasty and authentic. The service is a little slow and I wouldn't have the house wine again.But still great experience.

Excellent restaurant beautifully decorated with a great Greek vibe to the colours and with driftwood hanging from the ceilings. We had vegetarian meze for too and the food just kept coming! Best dolmades I’ve ever tasted. Delicious dips, good sized portions and seasonings were fab.

Went here as part of the eat out to help out scheme. There is now a separate entrance for eating in & takeaway. Sanitiser was available prior to entry. Starters were good & tasty. The main courses were delicious. I had chicken souvlaki & it was flavoured beautifully.We had no room for pudding but I want to try the baklava - maybe next time!

On a boat trip down the Llangollen Canal. Moored up at Ellesmere. 2nd visit to this restaurant. Super fresh food and excellent service. Search it out!

Assuming you like Greek food then this is the place for you.They have moved to a larger place in Cross Street and have also erected a gazebo overlooking the garden which they have decorated in a neo-Greek fashion so that when the sun is shining and it is as hot as it has been these last few weeks, sitting there one could easily be on holiday on a Greek isle. OK, that’s pushing it a bit but it is very pleasant.The food is plentiful, particularly if you opt for the meat meze, well cooked, well presented and very reasonably priced. One small let down was the chips which came with the main meat section of the meal. Whilst plentiful they had every appearance of being of the ‘bought in from a factory’ type and were not that great. Service is prompt and very friendly without being intrusive.We will most definitely be back but might say ‘hold the chips’ next time.

We were on holiday in the area and had seen Meze offered takeaway. We phoned though our order with ease and it was ready on collection. This has to be the best Greek food we have had outside of Greece! The menu was just the same as being in a taverna in Greece. The food was amazing and tasty. Had we been in the area longer, we would have loved to have an eat in meal. Highly recommended!

Omg, just had the meat meze, it was beautiful, we decided to takeaway as it is first day of partial lock down, we will now book regularly to sit in as we didn't get to enjoy the lovely surroundings Perfect thanks for a lovely meal.

We liked the new premises, although probably still "settling in". Enjoyed the meal very much. Authenticity shines through. Also, excellent vegetarian options.Good value for money,Our only problem was with the music.This was traditional Greek music....and that was fine.It was the volume that was the issue . We asked 3 times for this to be turned down and each time it was....but never enough! The music system was also rather tinny.We didn't really want to ask a fourth time so just had to put up with it. I would advise quieter music with a softer tone.We still had a good evening and left a decent tip!

We had a very hectic time over the holidays and combined with our move to the new premises has left us all a little worse for wear. So we are taking a couple of weeks of with a view to opening in the first week of February.NOT HAPPY

We booked a table a Meze several weeks ago, and I believe it was the first night of opening in the new premises. It was a much looked forward annual girls meal out.My friend had a message the day before to advise of the new location and that a buffet would be available (no mention that the normal menu was not available). We found the new location with a cardboard sign stuck on the door. The building had been unused for sometime. I felt like I was walking into a squat! There was so much work to be done, even though there was a fire in the room we all felt damp and cold.My friends (will admit) they are fussy eaters and the menu Meze had to offer suited their needs, but the buffet did not. Myself being a vegetarian ended up with eating luke warm roast potatoes and greek salad for £15. So much food was wasted. Nothing was labelled.A couple came in before as and left after us, which spoke volumes, as we left as soon as we could. We did complain as we paid the bill, but no refund was offered. My friend did have a message after we left with apologies, saying they didn't want to let people down. But we would of rather they did that, as the meal proved costly and we all agreed we would not return.

My family and I ate here for the first time last night and enjoyed the food greatly. On arrival at the address it was a guessing game as to the correct premises as there was not sign and little obvious sign that a restaurant existed at this location, however we took a gamble and pushed open the correct door. On entering, the busy restaurant appeared to be in the middle of a refit, but it turns out that the restaurant moved from a previous site to this one a week ago and it looked like it!There was no menu available as the meal was a buffet, we knew this beforehand. The starter was a Greek salad, dips and hot pitta breads......delicious! The buffet consisted of chafing dishes filled with an assortment of traditional greek favourites, hot and hearty.If haut cuisine is your bag, give Meze a miss. If cool, chic decor is your bag, look elsewhere, but if you like well cooked greek food in a restaurant full of the chatter of happy diners, then this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

Five of us and a dog were accommodated at short notice. It was a great decision as he food was wonderful, I went for the halloumi main dish. The halloumi was lovely and the chips superb. The best Greek meal I've had.

Average. Staff were very disinterested with mediocre service. The four in our party each ate different dishes which were acceptable, but nothing outstanding. Decor was a very good standard.

Great choice on the menu. Very authoritative waitress & you’ll sit where she tells you, really . After the initial welcome we really enjoyed our evening there, really nice food, the waiter was a little more flexible and restaurant offered very good value for money, plenty on the menu to cover most tastes, traditionally Greek, lovely...

We were looking for something different to end our canal holiday and a internet search turned up this little gem. It's a small cozy restaurant rustic in appearance we ordered the Vegetarian Meze for 4 we should have ordered for 2 the portions were very generous and cooked to a high standard. Ended up coming away with a Greek salad and stuffed peppers which we ate for lunch the following day.I can't recall the last time I had a meal as good.Worth every penny* * * * *

We visited here for my daughter’s 1st birthday and it was just lovely. We had 3 children under 5 and were made to feel most welcome. The atmosphere and decor are relaxing and the food delicious. We’ll definitely be back again soon! Thank you.

Called in for lunch today, having previously visited in the evening. This time we chose from the lunch menu. 6 dish Meze plus a Greek salad for two. Excellent, beautifully cooked food, more than we could eat, so left overs boxed up to take home. A glass of wine each at £15 a head we felt we had an excellent value meal. Will definitely be back.

Very relaxed eating. Excellent tasty food and great value. Lots of selection and the house wine is tasty and great value too.

Had a late lunch here. Excellent homemade food and friendly service. Quite informal but totally suits location. Well worth visiting.

There is an amazing choice of locally sourced good food, the staff are very helpful with your choice and the food is served piping hot in a good time for individually prepared dishes. We chose a sharing Meze which was more than enough for two and very good value.

Ellesmere is a smallish place but on the day of their summer fare (of sorts) plenty of going on. There appears to be some competition in terms or restaurants locally which is a good thing and helps keeps standards up. Rustic and simple deco which suits, nice friendly service for a lazy Sunday afternoon sitting, (but would expect a bit sharper say for a Friday or Saturday night, which it might be but have never been), food and menu very simple and traditional, but enough choice, well cooked and tasty. Prices just about ok and what I would expect to pay back home in the outskirts of South London, but with only a few seats understandable and I would not say expensive. Set meal, starters and main £18 each, but couldn’t eat anymore by the end. We happened to pop in late Sunday afternoon and was surprised to find it open, but 3 or 4 tables were in use and it is obvious that you have to book during busier times. We did have a dropped salad incident (on the table) when being served, which they of course replaced, all in good humour, and got a free drink out of, I suggested I was happy for more salad to be spilled for more beer, but no luck.

Maybe it’s because I’m a northerner but... I found this to be expensive for what it was. Had to ask for additional pitta bread with out starters (dips & halloumi), as they had only allowed half a pitta bread per person.

Our first visit to Meze won’t be the last. Stifado beef stew was superb! Generous portions, lovely friendly service!

We stopped at this wonderful restaurant last night and were incredibly impressed. The food was SUPERB. A huge array of options and very happy to help with my fussy eating 7 year old boy. Additionally, 2 of us are vegetarian and we had the greatest choice which doesn’t usually happen! At the end of the night they helped my elderly parents with taxi and getting home. A lovely family restaurant.

We booked ahead which I advise and had a fabulous time. The owner is very keen to help and the food was excellent. My sister was in heaven with the sweet. We visited from a canal boat and recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

We visited last Friday. Ellesmere has lots of pub grub, we fancied something different. We weren’t disappointed! The food was fantastic. Too often Greek food is done quite lazily and unauthentic in this country, this was spot on. The spanikopita, houmous and holloumi were particularly amazing.

In the afternoon we visited the restaurant and booked a table for two for the evening. The food was beautifully cooked and served in a very friendly manner. It was obvious that they strive to please. The only slight negative was the limited menu, unless you chose the meze. Overall, an enjoyable evening.

We had a really good visit tonight, friendly service and tasty food. The food at Meze seems to be consistently good, and tonight was no exception. It's not a cheap place to eat, but then it shouldn't have to be, and it is in line with the quality and quantity of the food.

As a lover of all dishes Greek and no restaurant in Shropshire or Wrexham that l know about outside this little haven , l would heartlily recommend Meze . Only prob was that as so beautifully laid back the bell wasn't working to alert a few of us to the owners as we were all desparate to dine here ! Met some guys outside with their lovely dogs after who had a great selection of tapas with wine that looked good too after our choice of Stifado .....x

A taste if Cyprus comes to Ellesmere!

Excellent food and atmosphere. The staff were very helpful. On a previous visit we found the staff a little overstretched. This time there were enough people and no problems.

We have called at this restaurant without a reservation a few times before and have been unlucky due to being busy but tonight we were at last successfull. My advice is if you haven’t booked get there early, we did, but by the time we got our food the place was nearly full. Excellent food and will definitely go again to try some of the other items on the menu. The place is only small and has been going for quite a while now so must good, there are not many Greek restaurants around our area so to have this one which is this good is great. Will return.

Quite an interesting find as travellers from the canal. Not only an authentic Greek restaurant but one that actually welcomes dogs! I know most restaurants in France allow dogs but not here! So we booked in at 0630. Pretty empty, apart from a group of 8 Swedes, also on a boat. The restaurant owner was a bit unkind in saying "they didn't speak a word of English " as we had a good chat with them! (How's your Swedish?). It's great to feel me a place that will allow you to bring your dog, he's no trouble. We ordered our starters and main courses but some time later were told there's no taramasalata or shefatalias - despite being displayed on the specials board. They are a great little independent restaurant but they need to be a bit more customer facing. Sort out the board and get more prepared. You are the No 1 restaurant in town guys! A lovely young girl,served us, very proficient and pleasant. The Ouzo cocktail was great. Having re-ordered or meal, it was served quite promptly. It was now getting a bit busy. From zero to 24 in less than an hour It is a very small place. The food was very good , I had the souvlaki dish - excellent. And my wife had the chicken lemonata, very creamy but it was just chicken and chips - they could do with a Greek salad side dish with all meals.

I visited last weekend with my daughter and three grandchildren (aged 5, 9 & 13).

Very compact restaurant but food was amazing. Service was a little on the slow side but it was explained that a staff member was off sick. Prices good. Beer excellent. Well worth a visit when in Ellesmere.

Having lived in Cyprus and being a frequent return visitor, I can safely say we have finally found a little haven of authentic Greek Cypriot cuisine and hospitality at Meze Ellesmere. Deborah is a fantastic host and the food was delicious, the tahini and tzatsiki with pitta was delicious, as was the sheftalia and the salad and chips that tasted just like you have in tavernas in Cyprus. The only thing missing was the sound of the med waves lapping Curium beach, the smell of ambre solair then the sound of the cicadas and mini mopeds buzzing around at dusk! We will most definitely be back and look forward to catching up with Deborah and sharing more tales of the ‘village’..lol σας ευχαριστώ μέχρι την επόμενη φορά

Delicious home-made food, and a really nice friendly atmosphere. The evening menu is small, but perfectly formed - not an overwhelming variety of dishes, but just enough to make sure that there's something to please everyone. Will definitely be back to give the lunch menu a try.

Lovely little restaurant in the heart of Ellesmere. Called in early Saturday they were able to fit us four in. Would suggest booking for a larger group. Top quality food, enjoyed the Meze platter.

Delicious food which they promised me is all cooked on the premises (except the dolmades because fresh vine leaves are impossible to find locally). Ample portions.

We booked for lunch. We were a party of nine. We had olives and tzatziki with warmed pitta bread while we were waiting for our main courses . Good selection of drinks. Our main courses were souvlaki, moussaka, pitta pizza, stifado and lamb cutlets. All were excellent. Three of the group still had room for pudding and my son recommends the doukissa. Very good service and fantastic authentic Greek cooking. Thank you very much.

We enjoyed the food, with excellent proportions, but the service was really slow and we had to ask for our drinks twice.

What a fabulous restaurant, great food, welcoming staff, brilliantly and authentically decorated, such a great ambience. It was my daughter's 16th birthday and our hosts helped to create a memory that will last a lifetime - thank you so much x

We booked to go to Meze in Ellesmere high street as the owner took the trouble to text my partner as they were serving sheftalia, a homemade Cypriot sausage, which are delicious and hard to find in restaurants also s particular favourite of mine.

Arrived into Ellesmere last sunday on our return from Whitchurch by narrowboat. At this time of year, the majority of restaurants in Ellesmere stop serving at 6pm so we were delighted to stumble across Meze and find it open. Because it is so quiet, we were the only customers but Deborah made us extremely welcome and we had a brilliant evening. This place is a must if you're visiting Ellesmere, food, decor and the owner make it a perfect place to enjoy a meal.

We came for dinner on the 29th December, it was a quiet Saturday. We had the meat meze.

Visited here on New year's Eve early evening with my husband, my parents & our 4 year old. The food was amazing. We have tried many a Greek restaurant and love Greek food. We ordered a meze and where not disappointed everything that came out was fresh and SO tasty. Our waitress was very friendly. Overall bill very reasonable for quality of food highly recommend to anyone who appreciates good quality Greek dishes

Have to say I am pretty disappointed by this meal. I ordered the meat Meze which I have had before (though not for some time) and it has changed beyond all recognition. The whole thing was much smaller (barely any chips) than previously, to the extent that my friend and I were still hungry as we left and the quality/ type meat (gone are the lamb chops and nicely sliced meats) was not the same. For £18.50 per person this was exfortionate, especially bearing in mind the cost of the £300ml beers which must have been £4 a bottle. £53 in total. Never again.

Family post walk lunch. Had 2 meze between 4. A total of 12 different dishes plus breads and a bottle of the house red. Every dish was lovely. Home cooked and delicious. The real taste of Greece. If you value great food above posh surroundings, eat here. Big thanks to the team. Will come again

We went as a large party so had all preordered from the Christmas menu. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I had the starter of kalamari which was with a lemon and garlic dip which wasn’t in evidence. For the main course I had brizola elladas , this was described as marinated pork chops. When it came it was three thick chunks of pork , definitely not a chop in sight and very tough . It didn’t have much flavour and was served with boiled rice with a few dried herbs tossed through it. We had a bottle of house red and one of house white . The red was slightly more palatable than the white but at £14 per bottle it was disappointing. The setting is small and cozy , the toilets are very cramped and not very nice as both male and female share a sink which has a view straight into a tatty looking prep/still room. I wouldn’t go again as I thought it was overpriced and disappointing.

We booked a table for two on Saturday and we were told there would be a large party filling the downstairs, and we would have a table upstairs, (not a problem). Unfortunately, upstairs was frankly, cold, scruffy and bereft of atmosphere. The starters were okay, dolmades and garlic cheese pitta. The mains were unfortunately, not good.

A small but cosy restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and a delicious menu! Very good selection and excellent service. Happy to recommend.

Lovely evening, excellent food, cocktails great, staff very good nothing to much trouble for them, compliments to the chef, highly recommend, well worth a visit. We will definitely return.

We visited this restaurant on our way to Llangollen this year in our boat, and were feeling not like cooking so called in on spec. The young man serving said that they couldn’t fit us in at that time so could we return in 30 minutes. Of course the temptation is to find somewhere else, but we are sure glad we didn’t, had a lovely meal and got to speak to the owner.

We have walked passed Meze many times when visiting Ellesmere and finally went there for a meal with friends, we should have dined there before as it was delicious!

Another recommendation when barging on the Llangollen canal. Great Greek food. Owner is bubbly, knowledgeable and serves good food! Loved the meze plates as we wanted a fairly light lunch and could choose a variety of dishes. Deffo recommend!

Booked a table for dinner when passing on the canal. The meat meze was wonderful. The young lad who was workingfront of house explained that we would not be able to manage starters as well, and what an asset he was. Unusual to see one so young with such assurance and confidence and damn good at his job. Apart from the excellent food and very reasonably priced wine he made the evening very enjoyable by just doing things well. Fantastic little place and the owner has a hidden gem in this lad! Can’t express how great the food and atmosphere is here , after living in cyprus all I can say is they have it spot, if I had to find one criticism ( THERE IS SO MUCH FOOD !!!) the meze just keeps coming!! Thanks to Deb & the team for a fantastic night & cant wait to come back soon !

I went on a Saturday lunch time and had a wonderful time. We went for the 6 plate sharing meze and it was lovely. The lady was welcoming and friendly and attentive. It was quiet but lovely!

Wide ranging menu and very friendly staff. We were a group of four including a vegan. We all enjoyed our lunch. Prices are reasonable and service was quick. Very helpful staff who suggested options to make vegan and produced a stuffed aubergine with tomato sauce chips and salad. Well worth a stop if I’m Ellesmere.

Last minute booking made with no fuss. Very helpful staff who slightly deviated from the menu to cater for us. Lovely food and very good value for money. definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

We went as a group of 4 and as one of the group was local, when booking I was told to ask for the Front area - not the back room.

My husband and I were on a canal boat holiday this week and last night (1st August) to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary decided to eat out. This little Greek restaurant was a superb find. The service was friendly and knowledgeable without being obtrusive, the meat meze we ordered was so tasty, fresh, authentic and served in good time. The dolmades in particular were incredibly delicious. I would thoroughly recommend this little find to anyone. My only disappointment was in not being able to tip the two lads that served us as we stupidly had no cash and the gratuity function on the card machine wasn't working. We hope this review will prompt the owner to fix that problem - and will in some way make up for a lack of tip which they both thoroughly deserved. Well done all

Back today after first visit in March this year and a lovely choice of mezes which we two shared as 6 for under a total of £ 19 . Maybe chose too much and as l apologised to Deborah , if l had been ten years younger would have eaten the whole lot !

We choose to have my birthday meal here and booked a table for 2 on a saturday evening. The young man that served us both was friendly and welcoming. We both opted for the veggie meze and it was fresh tasty and so so yummy. Great atmosphere and am looking forward to returning to try other dishes. The owner of this great little greek restarant Debbie is a great cook and a warm lovely person. Thank you for a yummy evening xx

An absolute little gem - we have not visited Ellesmere before and were driving through and saw Meze and decided to give it a go. Having spent a lot of time in Greece we have been to many tavernas and this took us right back to our holidays. We had the meat meze which was absolutely delicious, very tender and full of flavour. It was so good we went back the following evening and had the courgette fritters and the spinach filo pie to start, followed by the Chicken Metaxa and Stifado, again excellent. The service was very good and the young men very friendly and welcoming. So pleased we stopped in Ellesmere and hopefully one day will make it back for another visit.

We are regular visitors to this lovely small restaurant, and every time we are pleased with the quality of food, service, speed and friendly atmosphere. We have never been disappointed, and we recommend anyone to try it.

Small village, traditional buildings and in the middle this gem of a restaurant. We regularly sail in Greece and the food here is definitely comparable. Service was by two young lads with a smile and some great recommendations from Rhys. Two vegetarians and two meat eaters we all found the food excellent as it was fresh, tasty, well presented and good portions. If you like Greek food, you will enjoy.

We had the meze and enjoyed the various dishes. It certainly fills you up! Small restaurant with friendly staff in a small pleasant town.

We stopped at Meze last night - unplanned - and ordered the meat meze. It was so delicious. The meat tender and seasoned and so tasty. All of the accompaniments fresh and well presented. Service was friendly and welcoming. Will definitely go back. Due to the warm weather, we got to sit outside which positively added to the experience.

Having been around the Greek islands we know what Greek food looks like and what to expect. We were not disappointed a very authentic Greek restaurant and lovely friendly staff. They are more than willing to make sure you have a enjoyable meal and sort any problems should they arrive although we have to say the standards are high. as in Greece you have to be prepared to wait not that long get your self a nice glass an of wine and enjoy the experience just as you would if you were over there. Give them a try you will not be disappointed

Wow..what a great little find in Ellesmere, extensive authentic greek menu, food was cooked to perfection, I would recommend any visitor in the area to look it up and give it a try you will not be disappointed, no going hungry here....Thank you Deborah...left well stuffed....John & Marilyn

We arrived in Ellesmere mid afternoon only to discover that there were now limited dining options, the trip up the top end of the Llangollen has been hit and miss this spring.

We arrived in Ellesmere via the famous Llangollen Canal, looking for a meal to remember. Our experience at Meze provided just that we were looking for. A friendly welcome and delicious food. We had not eaten Greek food before so chose the Meze at Meze option which gives you a variety of dishes chosen by the chef. The selection was varied and tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service was excellent despite the waiter being on his own and the restaurant quite busy. We will certainly go there again.

Extensive menu, with starters including dips, main courses also difficult to choose, so many! Tables for two - eight, but also caters for big groups.

Went for a meal here last night and had an amazing meal we opted for the vegetarian meze with an extra side of Greek spicy sausage and the food never stopped coming everything tasted delightful ! The front of house staff were so welcoming and friendly even fussing our dog who went away with her own doggy bag ! What a wonderful place to eat in and can't wait to go back again !

It's a long while since I went to Greece on business and was entertained by my Greek colleagues. This reminded me of that time. The meal was excellent.

I live in Ellesmere and was soooo thrilled when the Greek Meze opened .....I love to holiday in Greece and absolutely love Greek food !

We ate here on our way down the Llangollen Canal at the beginning of May. The Stifado was excellent, bettter than we have had on three of the Greek islands. We were so impressed that we returned the following week for more Stifado! The deep fried pita bread appetisers were delicious. A thoroughly enjoyable couple of evenings. We have told other boaters on the Canal about this find. Hope it brings you lots of custom.

What a great place to eat. Discovered by mistake but what a find!!! Friendly atmosphere, great food and service was with a smile. This little restaurant was one of the highlights of our canal boat holiday.

Well it was a toss up between here and Brooks around the Corner. Wish we had chosen Brooks!
