Try this place today as I was hank Marvin and it didn't disappoint, the guy over the counter was friendly and didn't stop smiling, went with the classic mess smash taco, cajun fries and the awar qalb shake which was amazing 100% recommend will be visiting again even with the 30 min commute

Nice little joint to get some smash burgers, owner ans staff are very polite. Food was just very very nice. Will deffo come again next time we're back in Portsmouth

Me very happy!! I got the hot mess and it didn’t disappoint! It was super tasty with a messy cheese sauce, a hot sauce and jalapeños but just the right level of spicy served hot and steamy🫠 Yum yum!!! The strawberry 🍓 lychee messy fizz paired very well with it 😍

I waited for 2 hours for my order, and I didn't receive it. It wasn't the first time this happened, I personally don't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We went in for a takeaway burger today after trying the burgers at Southsea food festival (and absolutely loving them!!) We actually ended up eating in and having a lovely chat with Ayman (The owner). It was really lovely (and inspiring) to hear about their business/food journey thus far. The food was 10/10 and this will definitely be in the top choice for a treat. Will defo be back soon. Really good smash burger for only £10! The fries are average but the burger, sauces and cheese are really nice. Would reccomend! The wings arent good though- the skin is too thick

Please do not order from here! They really do know how to mess up what should have been a special night. Ordered food early , then went down stairs to meet driver. Turned up on time. Took food in but bag split, recalled this had happened the last time too. Noticed drink was missing , went down stairs again to see if it was with driver, no. Phoned shop to explain, he acknowledged it and said driver would deliver. Waited then a call to say on way so I went down to entrance so driver didn’t get lost, I had left my meal out. Several texts and calls and 50 minutes later driver arrived . No courtesy / apology drink . Food ruined. I ordered five things…..how is it even possible to miss one of these five items? Awful service . Never again .

we ordered this to our hotel late night - it’s cheaper to order by their website - they bring their own card machine- food was very tasty nice portion size and price not to mention Halal also - as we ordered two meals, it would’ve been nice to get two portions of sauces- regardless 5 out of 5

I couldn't agree more with the name of this chain—be prepared to get messy while enjoying the food! The restaurant's trendy and ambient decor adds to the experience. We ordered wings, beef nachos, burgers, and overloaded fries, and each dish was incredibly delicious, making it hard to pick a favorite. It's a shame we don't have this place in London. I highly recommend everyone give it a try; you won't be disappointed by the best burger I've ever had!

Food was standard. tasted bland not worth the money but delivery driver was rude. First time n last time using them

We ordered at 7:35pm and we did not even get our full order and walked out at 8:15. When our order was taken we were told 15-20 mins, in no way were we told that things would be separate, we all ordered together and still, 3 items had come out and and 2 out of 4 drinks. The messy fries were cold and stale, when the smash tacos came out, the single portion looked like it had been left under the hot plate for 20 mins as the cheese had turned from melted to solid and the meat looked incredible dry, the taco was stone cold and the smash burger was hardly warm, the 3 piece taco that came was similar except it was slightly warmer, at this point it had been 45 minutes, the table of 2 before us had their food 20/25 mins ago as I had asked the gent and I had seen multiple delivery orders leave so to suggest the takeout order were priority over our eat in order. Not only was the food incredibly late but we had no update or even an apology for the lateness from the owner, instead the owner tried to bill us for for the tacos which was dry, cold and very late, 2 drinks missing out of 4, I refused to pay for food that was cold and the service and reply was terrible. I will never be going back there ever.

Very, very good meal. Nachos, superb, chicken shawarma wrap, excellent, kids cheese burger, amazing, quadruple cheeseburger, epic!! Waffles, a delight. All in all a great feast and very reasonably priced. Will definitely try to visit again when next in Southsea.

The crispy wings were amazing and the the classic spicing was perfect heat , some big wings too! Also had Hallomi fries they were lovely too!

The wrap I ordered from here was stale tasting and way too chewy to eat, unfortunately Uber eats would not provide a refund.

Chicken has never seen spice and was craving some flavour way to much sauce on the burger and bread ended up soggy

As always - really good. Top quality. Consistent with our last 10 visits for eat in and take-away. The best burgers I've ever had, but also, best messy fries too. Update: Went for their new breakfast. Amazing, Very different - the desi breakfast is bhuna (chicken or beef), dom potatoes, dahl with paratha. Its all home cooked and if you're wondering about curry for breakfast, it's very mild - more comfort food. We also had a freshly cooked marsala omelette. It was all delicious. More of a brunch maybe, but different and all high quality. They do serve the more traditional cooked breakfast with chicken sausages & turkey bacon - but I'm glad we went for the desi. Different - but delicious and I would recommend it. No change in the burgers. Went in last week and still by far the best.

A very enjoyable experience, we didn't book a table beforehand but were shown to one after waiting a brief moment, the food was excellent and well worth the money, I would definitely eat there again.

Only a little restaurant however don’t let that put you off coming! Our server was lovely, the burger was insanely good! By far the best burger I have had in my life. So tasty loads of flavour and only £10 with fries! Also the chilli cheese bites were really flavourful too, we will definitely be back again. Compliments to the chef 🤌🏼

Food was good but we waited about 40 minutes for a burger and left before we could get the milkshake as I had to ask 3 times for one and never arrived we finished our food before we even got the milkshake

As a delivery driver think twice when you’re ordering from there. Even if I show up late the food is never ready for delivery, they start cooking when they see the driver and never understand order- delivery timeline and process at all. I’ve never waited another restaurant that much because they said 3 minutes but it became 25 minutes and complaining every time about getting too many orders. When I tried to say something about customers right the owner became very rude and unrespectful. I would never accept an order from messy chef again. Edit: yes I’m sure I’m a ubereat driver and you do accept orders from Uber eat. I can’t know if you’ve changed it but it was.

Shocking!! ordered food never turned up called a few times after waiting over an hour and a half kept saying was on its way and couldn’t get hold of the driver. Worst service I have ever received… well no service at all!

Great burgers, excellent service and nice interior. Probably the best burger joint in Southsea. The desserts are lovely too. It is ever so slightly more expensive than the other halal places for burgers etc in Portsmouth but you get what you pay for and that is an amazing burger and a great selection of sides (which I will try more of next time. Only had the wings this time and they were sublime.).

A local restaurant owner recommended I try their fayre. Whilst I have been loyal to another burger establishment for 50 years this is a gear up from your conventional burger & chips, the food quality is sublime, matching taste and so many other things from drinks to try. A stand out sweet was their GF brownie and ice cream, wash down with organic pink lemonade. We went their last night and back again within 24 hours, no doubt we’ll be back again real soon. A real gem, great for kids and GF. Music was brilliant to, but 70’s and I’m old

Went to the restaurant with my family and honestly I must say it's amazing in all aspects.We ordered chicken swarma wrap,messy burger,nachos,shakes and hot dogs.Burger was juicy and filled with sauce and melted cheese.Tried the smash burger and it was amazing as well.At the end,our dessert menu was belgian waffle and it was so good.My kids enjoyed a lot and instantly rated 5😁 I will definitely recommended all the foodies to drop by and taste the amazing foods that is to offer.Thank you

Food was very nice, the service was very poor, took 50mins for wings, 2 burgers and chips and there was only another couple in the restaurant. The tables are very small and the heating at the restaurant was not on so it was like eating in a cave.

My oh my , this, only burger place that never disappoints me. The zinga chicken burger is the best one to have. Also the desserts and drinks, love love love... 8 months and I am still hooked!! Long live messy chef!! ❣️❣️

This must be about the 20th time I have ordered from Messy Chef and every single time the burgers have been exactly as they describe “the best in the planet” I really can’t thank them enough for the high level of service they have to offer. Best food I’ve ever eaten before!! Been along time since I’ve been out for food and not been disappointed.This place was beyond expectation highly recommended.

We regularly have delivery and these guys are great. They have best tasting burgers around, with our favourite being, the hot mess burger, actually has sliced jalapenos covered in molten cheese and skin on fries so hot they burn your tongue.

Been a couple of times now as part of trips with the kids to the coast. Both times the food and service has been top notch. Excuse my child in the picture as he couldn't hold back from eating his food!

Really disappointed in this place. It went from an amazing resturant to now what looks like a McDonald's competition. I used to order from here and I always got the same amazing burger.. the zinger burger. And it was never like this...ever.. the standards have really dropped!!! If its under new management or chefs please get the old ones back this is ridiculous for 10 pounds for some thin slice of chicken with a McDonald's bun and some thin sliced "lettuce". It's a shame I recommended this place to loads of people. Now I'm recommending it to nobody.

Best Chicken Wings and loaded fries in Portsmouth, my kids even love their popcorn chicken.

Not a great experience, staff shouting at each other and using inappropriate language. Main meal served before starters. Not all ingredients stated on menu actually included in meal. What was served tasty and well presented. Friendly owners who offered discount as a result of the above. Point to note VAT is charged over the menu listed price.

Come by Messy kitchen by chance, walked in and was greeted instantly. Food was mega, got the classic mess burger, and it was honestly one of the nicest I've had in a long time. To top it off just really polite and friendly service

Super recommended restaurant! The staff are very welcoming and friendly; in particular, the owners are great people. The food is exquisite with high quality ingredients and, of course, the burgers are nothing short of fanatical. The place is particularly nice and clean (even the bathroom), but above all the atmosphere is truly special and familiar. Will come back again and again :)

Messy chef is an amazing local restaurant. It has a nice cosy atmosphere, attentive staff and delicious food. There is street parking available. All the food is halal. We got the messy hot dog, loaded beef nachos, and classic wings. The portion sizes are extremely good. As well as the messy burger and milkshakes. The messy burger was my favourite. The smashed patties are cooked to perfection and it is well seasoned. Juicy burger. Their shakes are really good too, good flavour and they don’t dilute the chocolate. The staff were very good, food came out very fast. Food was delicious. Price was okay too. They off NHS discount 10%. They also have kombucha as a drink option. Overall a great restaurant and I’ll definitely be back!

It’s an amazing food stop The owner is bit talkative but you will love him talking and enjoy it The Sri Lankan guy (the owner) is so friendly Taste was good but we gave him a recommendation to make his Bun a little bigger for Messy Burger even if he has to increase the price.

Thought I’d give this a try again Same abysmal service again, food took almost 2 hours to arrive and when it did it was cold For the price I pay it seems everytime I order the portion sizes are cut down significantly! The chocolate sauce arrived all over the burger! Wouldn’t recommend

We were craving burgers and this was the first place we came across. My chicken burger was the best I have ever had, and my partner throughly enjoyed his beef one. We also had the beef topped nachos which were delicious. Lovely quirky establishment, and the owner was very friendly and chatty. Will definitely visit again the next time we are in Portsmouth.

I went here with my family we all ordered food and it was mind blowing the Food was like nothing in England it was unique style and the best food place in Portsmouth the man was very friendly and The decorations were nice and the Paintings were amazing also they sold prime for £2.99 and you can get it from the local corner shop for £10 also the food was very good value for price when u order chips it comes with a cute metal frying thing the wings are like nothing we've had it was fresh and it offers gloves with meals hence the name Messy Chef it also had a unique molten cheese sauce

One of the best burgers I've ever had

Food could have been 4 or 5 .. but 2 because of bite size of burger on its own for 10 pounds .. have eaten better for a lot less .. they should include atleast a drink or some side or make the burgers size bigger for 10 pounds. Plus had ordered in the phone so that it's ready by the time I reach .. order was still not ready to collect.
