Visited this place with a bunch of friends, random selection as we were in the area. It's quite a simple but nice clean decor inside, situated on 2 floors, was quite busy upstairs, so we took the basement..Mix platter was superb, really enjoyed it, such a meaty feast.. Excellent customer service we got & food is averagely priced. We were also given Turkish tea & bakhlava as complimentary which was a nice gesture...highly recommended for meat lovers.. Oh by the way as we discovered, they ONLY accept cash, NO cards FYI....

As a previous contributor said, we too were looking for a place to eat and happened across Meshwi. And we were so glad we did! We chose the platter for two and it was HUGE! The food was fabulous. Consisted of flat bread with dips, salad, grilled vegetables, cous cous, 2 different rice and loads of grilled meats. Cooked beautifully and presentation was excellent. It was so good that we decided to return the following evening! Chose several starters to share including the falafels and moussaka. Followed by main courses, served with salads, bread and rice. So stuffed couldn't manage dessert on either occasion, but did have delicious mango lassi and the non-alcoholic raspberry beer was great!

ordered a take away of 1 baba gaoush and 1 humous, which came to £8. Waited 10 minutes, and when I got home the tubs were 20% full and no bread. Total con, steer clear. I can't see how they manage to give you 4 times as much in the far more expensive Edgware Road, and for less. I have learned my lesson and will not be back.

Apart from the non-alcoholic beer........which is an acquired taste, and not realising I could have taken my own, the quality of food and service is excellent. Really good value!

My partner and I were ambling along Bethnal Green Rd E2, trying to decide what to eat. I said to him lets try that restaurant on the corner... we looked over the menu on the window and went in, the place was vibrantly decorated and had a sociable (low level) ambience.... we ordered, I had the Meshwi spicy chicken wings and he had the Meshwi lamb chops. When the food arrived I was astonished as the plate of food looked so inviting and scrumptious... a feast for the eyes as well as the tummy. Wings were laid on a bed of lightly spiced rice with the freshest, finest shredded salad on one side, of lettuce, cucumber, tomato and olives, etc and the most delicious wings I've ever eaten, super tasty and moist with the blackened edges from the clay oven. My partner enjoyed every mouthful of his dish too.... same set up as mine just with lamb chops, tender and moist also. We were given FoC some bread, fresh and hot in a basket and two small dishes... garlic sauce and chilli sauce, for dipping... it was all gorgeous, delicious food. Highly recommend this restaurant. Staff were pleasant and polite. Great value too, our two meals and two cokes came to £24 ish.

The 2 waiters had a serious uninterested look on their face. However the food was quite decent and the mango lassi was delicous. I ordered half chicken, I managed to eat only quarter. When I asked to get the rest to take home the waiter looked at me in shock. I managed not to take it personally...

With Dalston up the road I was surprised to find a Turkish style restaurant this bad. The portions are small and lazy and fresh from the microwave that was heckling us from the start. Humus was bland. All could have been saved if there was an ounce of service but there isn't a scale small enough to measure the poor quality of our experience. Avoid this restaurant if you are looking to enjoy yourself!

The food portions have got smaller and the price has gone up. They served a platter for three with ONE LAMB RIB on it!!! Absaloutly shocking. Spend your money else where.

I hate writing bad reviews but this was a terrible experience and I am never going back there again! We came into the rather empty restaurant around 8pm this Sunday and sat down and ordered our food within 15 minutes, the waiter had then written everything down and took the menus back. Everything was fine until a further 10 minutes later he tells us that half of the stuff we ordered is not in stock. Too late to leave now... So we were just waiting for our meals. The food arrived just about on time, however me and my family couldn't help but notice my meal - a half chicken with one side (spicy potatoes) - two chicken breast pieces seemed very odd, as normally you would receive a thigh piece too (they're grill chicken fans so have tried many restaurants), so that was our first complaint. Then the potatoes were very dark in colour and tasted as though they were leftover food which had been microwaved. Horrible! I went home hungry, the chicken was just way too dry and the sauces were gross, never tried anything like that before. The waiters weren't that helpful and didn't seem too pleased with our complaints, although we were still polite. Do not recommend this place at all. There is a reason why it's empty most of the time.

Not quite very good but better than average. We were the only ones dining there at lunchtime so it lacked a little atmosphere. Good sized portions, fresh salads, well cooked rice and fairly prompt service. Would suit a large party event very well.

went to the place ordered our food im muslim so i dont drink i asked for the non alcholic pear cider and salty lassi drank the salty lassi it was bland and tastless the guy opened the pear cider and poured it in a glass i asked him if it was alcoholic and he said no my mate had asked him if it was a alcoholic drink and he assured us it wasnt i took a sip out of the glass and it tasted off, i showed it to my friend he went this smells like alcohol looked at the bottle and it said 4.5% alcohol at that point i got excessively angry as it is forbidden for a muslim to drink alcohol the sheer ignorance and disrespect in that place the guy appologised but it was his fault we asked him altogether 3 times yet he gave me alcholic drink i will never go back to the place and will never recommend it to anyone either!!!!

I stumbled upon this place as I was walking past it. I'm a big fan of Lebanese and Turkish food as they have good vegetarian variety. The vegetarian options on here are not bad but there is more of a variety in a proper Lebanese or Turkish restaurant. The kitchen is viewable from the top floor so you can see everything being cooked. I am not sure whether they cook the vegetarian food with the same utensils. The bread and hummus were very average and being critical lacked authenticity. My friend and I both had wraps. They tasted good but the flat bread could have been better and i've tasted much better. The staff were very friendly and tentative. I would come here again if I am in the area as there isn't a place like this in the vicinity and the food isn't too expensive.

Thought i'll try this place, will never be going back there again. The food is not authentic, claims to be lebanese, the food is more indian. The atmosphere is bad, no hi or bye from the waiters. Once i sat down to order, just felt like getting to leave. Service is terrible, took ages for them to take the order and for food to arrive. Food was not all that, Wouldn't recommend it for any occasion. Waiters just dont seem to try and impress or provide a good service.

Do not go to Meshwi expecting an authentic food experience because you will not get it. The food is not of the standard you would expect from a decent Lebanese or Turkish restaurant. You can tell the food is prepared by chefs who don't really know or are skilled in cooking food of this nature as it is heavily influenced by Bangladeshi/ Indian food.FoodThe homous and babaganoush is very poor and not smooth. It feel like it has been scooped out of a cheap supermarket tub with a drizzle of olive oil and tastes and feel cheap. Definitely not worth the price you pay as it is more expensive than a top rated Turkish restaurant. Furthermore, the bread they provide is naan bread and they charge extra if you have more than a basket. Only a few small pieces of bread in a basket so they make money charging you for more as one basket is not enough and even then the bread is not hot or of a great standard.Main meals lack any distinct flavour and do not warrant the cost they charge. The kofte is more like a sheek kebab and doesn't have an authentic taste to it. It was tough, chewy and not what you'd expect from a kofte. The lamb chops are expensive, dry, lack seasoning and a waste of money. The chicken wings lacked the advertised spices mentioned were not distinct in any way other than being oily. While the food is not terrible it is far from good. Service is a little standoffish which is fine but the overall experience is poor with the worse part being the food. Go elsewhere, you can find much better for cheaper

I have been here quite a few times often after the gym and it fits the bill perfectly. The place looks nice enough, portions are generous and service is friendly. The bread is always fresh and if it isn't then you will sometimes have to wait for a new batch which is as it should be. The grilled meats are excellent on a good day and still pretty good on a not so good one. It is BYOB but they also have a good selection of mocktails. It's certainly not fine dining and the menu might not really know whether it wants to be Turkish or Lebanese or something else but it's good place at the price point.

I've been to a lot of Turkish restaurants in my lifebeen to Lebanese too but the food here was very confusing I'm writing this as I'm eating so I don't make any false judgments on my part. Had the mix meze as starter u can taste non of it was home made ( came out of a tub) most of it cacik was awful tabuleh salad was bearable. Classic was bread was a nan bread instead of say pide bread or any kind of Turkish bread. The grills good kofte tasted a bit off the olives were definitely off. To me it's seems like bangali people are trying some thing they are not used too all I would say is there is nothing wrong with investing in a proper chef who knows his native cuisine. If you would like to try proper Turkish food then just a few suggestions from me would be Gems on upper st. Islington also Gallipoli on upper st. Of course Edgware rd for Lebanese cuisine. But must say the big guy who served us was really nice.

We bumped into the restaurant while searching for a light lunch on our way between Columbia Road market and the Tube on a cold Sunday afternoon. One of our party had a very tasty lentil soup which came with lovely flatbread, while the rest of us had various wraps - all of which were very flavoursome. The restaurant is not licenced but I think allowed BYO (you'd better check that if you plan to take booze) and had a range of non-alcoholic beers, wines and spirits including a very refreshing non-alcoholic pear cider. Apparently Meshwi is Arabic for meat on the grill, and we will definitely return to test out the grill menu. The place is decorated in a contemporary style that manages to mix in Islamic mosaics. Downstairs there is as much space again for diners as there is upstairs. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Overall a great find.

Ate at Efes pizza across the street from restaurant. Never had a Turkish pizza so figured when in London… a little like a flatbread pizza but shaped like a boat. Was not too bad, gave you a couple dipping sauces to go with it.
